I got a seafood platter, half fish half shrimp. I specifically asked if it was catfish or not because I know some places like to use basa fish (cheaper fish) and just say it's catfish. Yea I'm sorry but I highly doubt that's catfish. I recognize the difference, if you eat catfish regularly then you'll immediately notice the difference. PS - The plate was more full then the photo. Located in between Read and Crowder, Cajun Shack is one of the newest boiled seafood spot to pop up in the East! There was plenty of parking in the strip it's located in and the place is very clean and modern inside. I ordered 3 pounds of Crawfish, an order of Pig Feet, Boiled Corn, Potatoes, and a D&D Sausage to share with my dad. Their crawfish had plenty of flavor and a good spice level to it. Not too spicy, but enough to give you the sniffles and maybe give you a little cajun tear. The boiled corn and potatoes were good, but nothing too exciting. They were very generous with the amount of pig feet for the order and it was delicious! You cannot go wrong with D&D Sausage, that is always enjoyable. Tried them again a week after for their other items. Ordered the Shrimp Po Boy, Hot Sausage with Cheese on Bun, D&D Smoked Sausage on Bun, Fried Wings, Meat Pie, and Crawfish Pie for my family. Everything smelled so good when I opened up my bag and it was hard to restrain myself from digging in immediately. I was patient and was able to take some quick snaps to show everyone my glorious food. My family and I enjoyed everything that I ordered. The shrimp po boy was so so good with great sized shrimps and they were fried and seasoned very nicely! It was dressed perfectly and everything just went well together. You can never go wrong with a hot sausage on bun, but theirs was especially good. They put on two hot sausage patties and every bite I took was so gloriously meaty! I usually do not order smoked sausage on bun, but I am glad I did this time around. The wings and pies were all good, but all just your usual standard items at a seafood spot. I think I come here at least once a month! I love their garlic butter crabs. I normally call in some wings or crab Rangoon before getting there and then order some boiled seafood as well. It's very clean inside and the line moves at a good pace. They have options for beverages and snacks as well! I also highly recommend their chickens wings for a party! Crawfish, Sausage, potatoes/corn, wings, and baked spaghetti. (I honestly wanted to order more like their gumbo or red beans and rice, but I had to control myself) All of the food was great. 1. Baked spaghetti reminded me of when we used to have it for school lunches but better! They added sliced sausage in there too, so it was a little change up from the norm. 2. Crawfish was a great size with a great flavor! Definitely had a kick to it, but is it really NOLA/ Cajun crawfish if it didn't? 3. Chicken wings is my soft spot. We couldn't eat it until we got home, but they remained crispy and crunchy. Wings were a good size especially considering their price for them. 4. Sausage/potatoes/ corn were the typical classic sides! Couldn't go wrong. I will definitely be back. Ive been hearing others talk about their gumbo, red beans and rice, and Shrimp Hi-Hop. This is a convenient location if you live in the New Orleans East area. I've had their red beans and crawfish. The red beans are nice and seasoned and the rice is perfectly cooked. Their crawfish is just hot enough where it's still edible and they taste fresh (some seafood restaurants in New Orleans East have the tendency of using rotten crawfish). The service at this location is pretty satisfactory, I'd say. The employees are friendly and quick. I haven't had a single bad experience with the employees so far. The inside is fairly small, however, and there are no seats or tables, so you might have to sit in your car or stand if your order ends up taking a while. Overall, this place is a solid 4 stars, because I've only tried 2 menu items here and the inside lacks seating. Occasionally, orders will take long but the employees have always told me estimated wait times and were fairly accurate so far. Also, I haven't been to this location since sometime in 2022, so maybe the quality has changed overtime. Apparently, they are available on Uber Eats and DoorDash, however I've never ordered from Cajun Shack online, so I can't really determine if it's satisfactory or not. read more

Cajun shack just opened recently and as a New Orleans native, i am a big fan of seafood!! I came here through recommendations of many friends and family that live in the area because they always tell me how good this new place around the corner is. Today i was craving gumbo instead of crawfish so that's what i got. I can tell you the gumbo is really great and full of flavor! I'm not sure what kind of gumbo style you guys like as there is no "authentic" gumbo anymore nowadays, but i love my gumbo with Okra. This gumbo however does not have okra and that's perfectly fine because it is still delicious. They are very generous with meat. The grill cheese is cooked very well, it's not on the burnt side and not too buttery! Not going to lie, wings boiled crabs and Turkey necks are good and tasty. But it's not worth the wait. I've had enough I'm pregnant at 30 weeks and this is the last time I will ever place an order over the phone. I place the order over the phone to be proactive so my good will be ready by the time I arrive. It's always the same excuse. "We had a lot of orders and yours is about to come out now." Each three times I've had to request a refund only to see they had just began my order. How frustrating when I am a regular and pregnant. I'm done getting my hopes up with them. Service was great! They let us sample their crawfish and the gumbo. We also got a turkey neck. My family came to new Orleans for crawfish but came when it was out of season. We ordered about 5 lbs of the crawfish and it was tres spicy! There gumbo was good. Prices are decent. The only downside is that you can't really eat in there.
