This little restaurant is attached to a gas station/convenience store and offers dine-in, takeout, and a drive-thru window. The parking lot and dining area are both a decent size, getting to it is easy, the restaurant itself was clean, the staff was friendly, and my order was ready quickly. I liked the hush puppies and their special sauce was interesting. Good marks for all of that. In terms of "meh," trying to sub red beans and rice for french fries cost $2. Mind you, small fries and small red beans are both listed on the menu for $2. I know upcharges for substitutions are not unusual, but usually it's not the full regular price of the side. Maybe the waitress didn't know how to do substitutions in their checkout system, or maybe they don't actually allow substitutions (which is a different problem). The shrimp could've used a pinch more seasoning, but when paired with ketchup or the special sauce they were fine. So the upper end of "meh." Unfortunately there were two things in the bad column: the red beans on the coleslaw. The beans were too bland and dry for my tastes. I ended up doctoring them significantly by adding hot sauce, Tony Chachere's, and a little water. The coleslaw was worse: dry and flavorless. It desperately needed at some black pepper, and lemon juice or vinegar. I probably could have doctored it up too, but I didn't feel like it and ended up throwing most of the coleslaw away. This place has $5 Monday specials. If you want to try them, stick to that, and avoid the beans and coleslaw.

I don't go "down the road" nearly as much as I used to in my younger days. However, I have been wanting to try Crazy Cajun's for several months; and this past Friday (2/2/18), I finally took that ride down the road and paid them a visit. To be honest, the ride there from Lakeview was less than 30 minutes, and we left at 5 PM. Therefore, it's actually not a long ride at all. The building is unassuming from the outside but is actually quite nice on the inside, and the Cajun decor can be seen throughout. Kudos for everything for being so clean. But this place is all about the fish. The menu is fairly simple, as nearly all of it revolves around fried catfish. There are four catfish dinners, and each comes with fries, hush puppies, cole slaw and a remoulade style dipping sauce. The "Feeding Frenzy" is the biggest meal and comes with 8 pieces of fish. The "Top Feeder" has 6 pieces, the the "Bottom Feeder" has pieces and the "Minnow", aka kid's meal has 3 pieces. There is also a "Tackle Box" dinner that comes with fried fish AND fried shrimp. Rounding out the menu is the "Shrimp Box", Shrimp po-boy and shrimp tacos. My wife and son are not big eaters; therefore, the Tackle Box was more than enough for them both. Since I am a big eater, I opted for the Top Feeder and I left completely satiated without being overstuffed. Now about the food: The fish: The catfish, in my opinion, was fried to order, as it came out piping hot. I have no doubt that this fish is as fresh as it gets, and was probably never frozen. It was fried to perfection and had a nice battered crust. However, it was a little salty for my liking, as I do not cook with much salt. All in all, this was some really good fish. The shrimp: The shrimp were actually perfectly fried and perfectly seasoned. And these aint no "shrimpy" shrimp, excuse my pun. I'd say they were large or extra large and probably ranged between 25-35 count per pound. The french fries: Nothing spectacular here. Just your garden variety crinkle cut fries. The cole slaw: Kudos to Crazy Cajuns for making a slaw that I actually liked. The low mayo saturation made for a very good slaw that was not soggy and I would definitely recommend it. The sauce: The remoulade style dipping sauce is a nice alternative from the traditional tartar sauce. It's not as spicy as your traditional remoulade sauce and was a nice change. Did I mention they also have a drive up window so that you can pick up your "to-go" orders that you called in over the phone? This window is a big hit, as it seems like over half their business was for "to-go" orders. Kudos to them for recognizing that many people, including myself, like to pick up dinner on the way home and sometimes don't want to have to get out of our cars. All in all, this is a nice family run restaurant serving up really good fish & shrimp. It is "down-the-road" recommended by me.

I didn't take a minute to look at the menu to see if they served chicken tenders or not, i rather assumed... Anyways, they didn't serve "Chicken Tenders" but had some Chicken Breast left.. The lady treated me as any loving mother would a picky child.. She took the time she didn't have, the energy she didn't need to waste & the initiative to "make something shake" lol. The food was good, so I looked forward to the day that he would open a brick-and-mortar restaurant. Well here it is. I ordered the Wednesday special, which consisted of mustard greens over rice, cornbread dressing, and candied yams. It normally comes with baked chicken, but I paid $2 to upgrade to fried fish. The fish was maybe a smidge under salted, but better undersalted than over-salted, and it was otherwise good. The greens were good too, and I especially enjoyed the dressing and yams. My meal was roughly ~$14, which is really fair considering I'll be eating off of it twice. The staff was friendly and my food was ready fairly quickly. The restaurant is a bit bare looking inside, but it's casual and still very new. I will definitely be returning. #blackownedbusiness

I called in my to go order and the person who took my order was nice. I ordered the grilled fish and shrimp which came with 2 sides. I got the green beans and side salad. I wanted Italian dressing, but they don't carry it so I settled on balsamic vinaigrette. She told me it'd probably be about 15 mins and since I live about 10 or so minutes away, I hopped in the car after I got off the phone and drove there. There were a few customers dining in but it wasn't very busy. My food was ready and sitting at the counter, so I paid and went home to eat. It was a nice sized piece of fish and a good bit of shrimp. Fish flavor was good but shrimp flavor was just okay. House salad and green beans both had pieces of bacon in them so I tried to avoid that as I ate. I believe the total was about $26 or $27. Overall it was just ok in my opinion. Some of the other items on the menu may taste better. I may try something else from them one day.

Whether it…read morewas fish to take home to cook, boiled seafood, fried seafood plates, or even stuff from their cold section I've tried a good bit. Last Friday I went and got 2 stuffed crabs(in the picture). Initially I was like $13 for the two scoops of stuffed crab seemed high but I know crabmeat is expensive. Right when I was about to pay for my food the hot crawfish came out so I had to get a taste and ordered 3lbs. My total was about $33. Prices are cheaper if you pay with cash (they list the price with cash and the price if you are paying with card) so I'd say bring some cash. The crawfish were good as usual and were a nice size. Other things I've had in the past that I enjoyed were the crawfish fettuccini, shrimp poboy, fried fish plate, and potato salad. There is seating available inside but it's not a big place so a big group would probably need to get their food to go. The Real Deal - Still My Favorite After 9 Years…read more I wrote my first review for this place back in February 2017, and here we are in April 2026. After nine years of lunches and dinners, I just had to come back and say thank you. In a city that's constantly changing with fancy new tourist spots or quick grab and go windows, this place is a constant. It hasn't changed, and that's exactly why I love it. When I walk in and grab a seat, I feel right at home. It's casual, it's comfortable, and it's the real New Orleans. The food is just as good today as it was nearly a decade ago. I find myself constantly craving their po-boys and gumbo. Whether it's the hot fish, the stuffed peppers, or the mashed potatoes, you can tell everything is made with quality ingredients and a lot of love. The family that runs this business has a huge heart for the community, and it shows. If you are a local looking for authentic Cajun food that stays true to its roots, look no further. This is the kind of staple we are lucky to have.

I'm so glad I did. The guy working behind the counter told me they had just started doing something new. I don't know what they did, but it's absolutely astounding. Very rich (for a pho). TONS of beef. One bowl is enough for two people imo. The crawfish boudin is another standout menu option. When it warms up a bit I want to try their snowballs too!
