so amazing food! so amazing service! the staff is so friendly! highly recommend! tell them i sent you!

    A cockroach

I recommend no one is here. This food is real bad. I found a roach in my food did not wanna give me my money back. He tried to give me half of my money because he said we ate half the crawfish, but we didn't see it until we got into it. I recommend the one each year.

If you like seafood then CajunLand in the West Bank area of New Orleans is a treat. A multitude of different options to choose from. When you walk in you're warmly greeted by the staff. The place is set up like a market and the food is more buffet "ready to serve" style. I believe they have a menu for you to order additional things (fried fish, shrimp etc) that might require a wait if you so choose. My reason for stopping in was because I had a craving for crawfish. Crawfish still isn't yet in season, but $5.99/lb for pre-frozen in 2024 isn't all that bad. I ordered two pounds w/sausage, potato and an egg. I also had to get an everfresh (if you know you know if not, find out lol). Everything was good. I will say the flavor of their boil is a bit on the sweeter side compared to some of my fave spots out in the Shreveport area, but good nonetheless.

Located on the Bestbank close to Oakwood mall. The parking lot makes it look like it is crowded inside but it has calmed down a lot since they stopped accepting ebt. Employees are courteous. The time to wait for food is never long. Today, I had a taste for a hot sausage sandwich so I went with their homemade sausage on bun dressed w/cheese. It was a little spicy but it tasted amazing. I have not had a bad meal here! My favorites here are the grilled shrimp plates, fried shrimp plates, cajun rice, and potato salad (which they discontinued).

Trash crawfish that stunk up the house

On 05/13/2024, I went to this business to purchase crawfish.. When I walked in, I noticed the crawfish were a lil more pricey than other businesses. SHOULD HAVE BEEN A SIGN.... I asked the guy was the crawfish "FRESH LOUISIANA" in which he gave a facial expression and said "YEA"... SHOULD HAVE BEEN A SIGN... I ordered 6lbs and went home... When I attempted to eat the crawfish I immediately notice the most of the crawfish were very light colored and not running the size of crawfish for around this time of year..... As I ate one, I immediately realized that the crawfish were not fresh but that were possibly imported, frozen, or redipped.... My wife tried them as well and we noticed that the crawfish were basically a mixture of imported, frozen, and Redipped..... TRASH TRASH TRASH ... ENDED UP THROWING EVERYTHING AWAY UNEATEN They also had an odor I guess this is why this place don't have a line out the door anymore

Lil quick eat spot in Terrytown, Cajunland Seafood! Tasty bites for cheap! My favorites here are the wings, shrimp plate and fried rice with extra duck sauce. I love that the shrimp are tail on! My only reason for taking a star is the odd color of the rice. I started to not eat it when I first found out about this place, but I went ahead and it's pretty good. Just don't forget the extra duck sauce! I have yet to try other items on the menu also.

Although it is not crawfish season, coming to New Orleans for the first time, I was DETERMINED to try some crawfish! Met a nice lady who told me she had tried Cajunland the night before and talked about how delicious it was! Made the 30 minute drive and it was soooo worth it! The staff was super kind and accommodating and showing me the different goods they offer. They had other seafood there too but didn't have any room! Menu/Food: Regular Crawfish and Extra Spicy Crawfish, Red Rice & Beans Price: Crawfish $5.49/lb!!! So Cheap!! I wanted more!! Customer Service: Amazing, great staff! Super nice and helpful! Cleanliness: Pretty Clean! Yums: CRAWFISH CRAWFISH CRAWFISH

Second visit. Great hot food. $3.99/lb crawfish right now. Love the shrimp, catfish, and house made hot sausage poboys. All come piping hot. Big shrimps, great dry. The gumbo is yummy. The two young guys working the front are very friendly and professional. I called an order in from ten minutes away and when I got there it came out as I was paying. A go to when I'm on the West Bank.

Short drive to Gretna with my grilled shrimp poboy and sweet tea from Cajunland.

Had the grilled shrimp poboy, fully dressed. Possibly one of the best of New Orleans area foods. The freshest of shrimp and bread along with the most flavorful seasonings. Highly recommend going here. Only a short drive out of downtown to Terrytown.

The best crawfish and garlic butter snow crab legs I've ever had!!!!! I loved that they have options of regular, garlic butter and extra spicy crawfish. They also offer garlic butter or boiled snow crabs. I'll definitely be back!

Handmade hot sausage on a bun! So dang good!!!!

Our server, Christopher, was very attentive, suggested wine pairings, and gave us great recommendations. We started with the charbroiled oysters which is a must. They were large and charred to perfection on the outside grill, topped with parm and breadcrumbs. My friends ordered the filet and the gulf fish, and I had the charred cabbage entree, with a French gerwurztraminer blend. The mushrooms with the blue cheese sauce were so rich and delicious! Sweet treats were a no brainer. The blue cheese flan was creamy and decadent. A perfect ending to the meal. This is so far my fave restaurant in New Orleans. It's an honest, no BS creole inspired cuisine. 100% coming back soon!

And yet again, I am so thankful for Yelp steering me in the right direction yet again! A short Uber from the French Quarter brought us to what I believe is such a special hidden gem! The moment you step into Atchafalaya, you realize it. Ambience is amazing, quirky, cool, homey and cozy. Staff is amazing. We sat in our own private room and were treated to a very special delight of a dinner. I tried the incredible fried green tomatoes, the seafood soup (?) and the incredible steak...wow, everything was amazing. And not only did Chef Christopher Lynch come out to say hello to my Autistic son but the owner Tony Tocco did as well and it made his day! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Ohhhhh snap. This place absolutely slaps!!…read more If you are looking for southern Creole soul food that actually understands the assignment and did the homework, this is the place. No notes. Standing ovation. First things first, do not be a chicken. Yes, it is outside the tourist bubble. Yes, you might clutch your pearls for a second on the drive. Relax. We felt completely safe, and it is a short ride from the French Quarter. The only thing in danger here is your belt notch! The atmosphere is exactly what a soul food kitchen should be. Cafeteria line moving with purpose. Staff smiling like they know something you do not yet know. Portions so generous they feel personal. And just enough grease permanently bonded to the surfaces to let you know the food is about to be correct. Now the food. Lord help me. This is not food you politely eat. This is food with soul. The kind of soul that makes you want to slap your mamma, then immediately apologize and say damnit three times while chewing. Every bite tastes like somebody's auntie took offense to the idea of under seasoning. Just look at the plates. It was heaven served in a clamshell. No garnish. No nonsense. Just pure comfort. If you grew up in the South, this will feel like home. If you are from the North and curious what southern comfort food actually tastes like, practice your "Hey, Yall" in the mirror and commit fully for lunch. One warning. They sell food until it is gone. When it is gone, it is gone! So if you want that heavy mac and cheese energy, you better show up early and hungry. Final takeaway. We went in for lunch. I left happy, full, and slightly greasy, with the overwhelming urge to take a nap and call someone I love. She didn't answer so I regulated my emotions with a piece of cake from the girl in the corner - you'll see when you arrive. So don't skip dessert!!

Sigh. Disclaimer: the food just isn't the same anymore…read more My parents live on the Westbank, so whenever I come home to visit and stay more than a few days, I always make a stop here, specifically for their stewed okra on Tuesdays. I hadn't eaten here in over a year, but two years ago that okra SMACKED. It was so good I had to stop myself from eating the entire container in one sitting. This time, though, it tasted completely different. Honestly, I mostly picked over it. It did have a decent amount of seasoning meat in it, which I appreciated, but the flavor was just off. My mother agreed. I also ordered the stuffed catfish, and unfortunately the catfish tasted almost entirely like blackened seasoning and nothing else. It used to have much more flavor and balance than that. The yams were fine, and the seafood dressing tasted the same as usual, but I was really disappointed because the okra was always the star of the show for me. Since that's no longer hitting the same, I honestly won't be back. And mind you, this was after standing in line for ~90 minutes. I will say the workers still have that Southern hospitality, and the customer service itself was pleasant. But while standing in line and watching the workflow, it was easy to think of multiple ways the business could improve efficiency. I'm honestly surprised those issues haven't been addressed yet. If you want to go for the experience, then sure, go for it. But don't expect to be blown away. For me, the wait time, prices, and food quality just didn't live up to the hype anymore.
