Overall good dinner. Not real busy but picking up steam. Have live music which isn't bad. I'd come back again

I've been coming to this Cajun Steamer location since it opened several years ago. I hate to say but the restaurant has gone down. During my most recent visit, the restaurant looked and felt unclean and dingy. The floor was so incredibly sticky that my slide-in actually stuck to the floor and my foot came out of my slide. The oysters were not good. They tasted as if they only cooked the oyster toppings and poured them over the raw oysters. Instead of cooking the oysters with the toppings. I was disappointed with my last visit.

Classic sports bar. Blackened catfish with crawfish stuffing. Really liked the fried green tomatoes and remoulade. Came out quick and hot.

Ate here for the first time on Mardi Gras. The drinks were good, I had the Hurricane. It was actually pretty slow for Mardi Gras, we didn't have a long wait at all which was great. It was still loud but that's to be expected. The reason for 2 stars is portion size. The drinks were very small, which I get for the $5 drink specials. But my husband ordered a draft beer and they still brought it out in the tiny special occasion cups. Like.... I get it for the special drinks but draft beer? And it cost more than the mixed drinks! Then I ordered the shrimp and grits and received the tiniest serving of grits ever, for $17!! Grits cost PENNIES to make. Just super disappointed in the serving sizes. And yes I get it that it was a special occasion but I feel like that's when stuff should be great. Oh well, it was my first visit and probably my last for the foreseeable future.

I don't know where to begin. I came here last Night with my niece and my daughter for dinner. The wait wasn't long at all when we came in the host promptly seated us in a booth. We already knew what we wanted my niece order the chargrilled oysters for her appetizer and I wanted the crab claws. The waitress was very slow with taking our order and just checking on us throughout the dinner service. The chargrilled oysters were not good at all and they were very very small the crab claws were OK when I dipped in cocktail sauce but they were small as well. I ordered a cup of gumbo because I just love gumbo and it lacked flavor. No spiciness. While my daughter was eating her chicken tenders she pulled a long piece of hair out of her mouth that was attached to a piece of the chicken tender. I showed the waitress and she asked if I wanted it taken off the bill or did she want a fresh batch. My daughter was really hungry so she requested a fresh batch of chicken tenders. I would assume just from good customer service they would've taken it off the bill just out of a good heart but they didn't. My niece ordered the fettuccine and she put salt, pepper, hot sauce, creole sauce on it, and it still had no flavor. I tasted it and it was very bland. She ordered a side of fries and she said that was the only thing good about the meal. I ordered the redfish Rockefeller. The fish was blackened and so it did have a kick to it but the meal itself just wasn't good at all. We actually ran out of drinks and our waitress never came back and asked if we want refills or anything. I would definitely not recommend this restaurant if you're looking for good, fresh, flavorful seafood. I would try somewhere else in the area.

Food tasted great! It was what I expected from Cajun Steamer - cajun seasonings on bayou favorites. Food service was slow. There was a printer malfunction in the kitchen which slowed the food prep. No one notified us or came to check to even check out drinks after our food order was taken. We were notified about the kitchen issues when we asked about the appetizer we had not received. The server was nice. I wish she'd at least come to check on us during the long wait.

Start with the nice young waitress. Very polite !! The food was fine. Will stop by again 1 day

Been a while since I have been here but the food is still good. I got the catfish po boy today and it tasted good. Daughter git Cajun shrimp creole and she likes hers as well. I would come back, the waitress was very attentive. Worthy of s nice tip

Catfish Pontchartrain with fried okra. You gotta try this!

Update from my experience tonight. I got the Big Chief FGT burger, which the FGT stands for fried green tomato. It was soooo good. The shrimp poboy was chalk-full of fried shrimp.

Wow what a place! Excellent flavorful food and wonderful service! A friend in Birmingham met me here as I was passing through the area; we both thought it was exceptional. So many delicious entrées to choose from on the menu-plus awesome appetizers and sides. We both ordered the Shrimp Creole Orleans and the spices and Old Bay seasoning hit the spot! Also we shared the Coconut Shrimp skewers with mango salsa before diving into the entrées and we both were already in restaurant heaven! For additional sides I ordered Fried Okra and Fried Green Tomatoes and all was delectable. My friend was enthusiastic about the Hushpuppies he ordered. I didn't even get to try them! Lol Wonderful outdoor seating too.

It's been a while since I have been to Cajun Steamer. It use to be one of my favorite Cajun restaurants. Not so much anymore. It's not bad but there are better choices now. I ordered the Catfish Pontchartrain with Cajun mashed potatoes and a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon. The food was good, even though the potatoes were lukewarm. My primary complaint is the portion size. It has gotten significantly smaller over the years. The service was friendly and efficient. Social distancing was enforced and masks are required.

Happy Hour here rocks! All day Tuesdays You've got to try the Cajun Queso & Chips I like it on bread too!

We got the tilapia with rice And fish and hush puppies Loved it all! The fish was a wee bit fishy, But the batter was crispy and delicious. 2nd visit Wings were nicely priced and had a great sauce. I'm loving their clam strips it's not on menu i guess. I just get them in the side. Cajun Queso Dip with tortilla chips - was amazing it was cheesy and full of lump crawfish the first time we ordered. It even had the most amazing savory flavor in the cheese. Buttttt........... The next time it came as a bowl of basic cheese dip and a scoop of pico de Gallo with a few bits of crawfish like a little garnish. We were sooo bummed we didn't let our waitress leave before we tried it, and regretfully sent it back. (The big guy never sends anything back like it's a sin) I will be back for the wings and clam strips but that crawfish dip was such s letdown when they teased us with the best the week before. Parish Seafood has a darn good crawfish dip, go there....

Occupying the space previously used by Spoon and Ladle, Broad Street is next to Uno Tacos and across from J Wings. A native of New Orleans, Kelli Caulfield was raised in Birmingham and never forget her fondness for New Orleans food and culture. So much so that she started a New Orleans themed sno-ball "truck" called NOLA Ice in 2011. Six years later, she added another venture to her resume and started the Broad Street Peaux Boy food truck. It's success has now lead to this location in the Pizitz Food Hall. By the way, I love the clever spin on the spelling and pronunciation of "poboy" to "peaux boy". Unlike Walk-On's or Pappadeauxs, the menu at Broad Street Peaux Boys is short and delectable. It has the basics such as chicken and sausage gumbo, red beans and rice and chicken and sausage pasta jambalaya (or pasta-laya). This menu also has some changes from their food truck menu, but their peauxboys are basically the same. Broad St is proud of their "overstuffed" peauxboys as advertised on their menu and website. All their peauxboys are "dressed" with lettuce, tomato and pickle on french bread and served with your choice of chips or cajun fries with one additional side of dirty rice, cajun corn, or collard greens. Their choices of Peauxboys include: The Parkway is their classic fried shrimp, catfish peauxboy. The Hot Boy is a lemon pepper "hot" catfish on french bread. If you like your catfish blackened and covered with their remoulade sauce, try the Parkway. The Cassie is their classic fried shrimp but tossed in hot buffalo sauce then topped with blue cheese crumbles and ranch on french bread. Finally the Hollet is a peauxboy made with roast beef in their special au-jus sauce. Beyond Peaux Boys, they have what they call Broad St Boxes which include Shrimp Box, Catfish Box, and a Catfish n Shrimp Box. There's even a Broad St Salad Box which can be served with your choice of catfish or shrimp. These are also served with a choice of sides and hushpuppies. Studying their menu, I had planned on trying the gumbo, red beans and rice, and a shrimp peaux boy. Unfortunately that didn't work out as planned because when I arrived, the kitchen was shutting down. They were closing early due to impending storms. Although most everything was already put away, the last employee there felt sorry for me and offered to cook some simplified boxes for me. I couldn't say no so I got a shrimp box and a catfish box. Both only had cajun fries. The catfish and shrimp were both fried in the same "fish fry" powder. The catfish filet was a nice size and fried perfectly. The batter wasn't thick but just enough to seal in the oil and juices of the catfish. The catfish was oh so good. Yom Yom Yom. It wasn't too salty or overly covered in a thick batter... just the way I like it. The fries were on par and complimented the catfish and shrimp. The shrimp box had about 8 large shrimp that were also fried to perfection. With the same delicious light "crust" that meets your taste buds first, you then taste the inviting shrimp underneath. I'm quite sure that the shrimp that's used in their peaux boy will be cooked the same way so I'm trying to imagine how these shrimp would taste sandwiched between their french bread and dressed with tomatoes, lettuce and pickle with possibly mayo or remoulade sauce. It was torture trying to imagine that so that's why I'm definitely returning. I'm not a big roast beef peauxboy kindaguy, but I may even try the Hollet. If you fancy sno-balls, feast your eyes on all the different flavors that NOLA Ice has to offer right under the same roof. Also owned by Caulfied, it made sense for NOLA Ice to also be there next to Broad St Peaux Boys to tickle your taste buds. Broad St Peaux Boy may not be a big place, but they have big flavors. Nothing fancy about their silverware or dishes since everything is served in disposable containers, but their food is cooked fresh and to perfection. Don't forget that they still have a food truck and they cater. Welcome to the Pizitz Food Hall, Broad St Peaux Boys!

Our waitress was very, very nice and personable and knowledgeable. Any questions that I had she always had an answer for and she was very patient with me as I am kind of a picky eater. The crab claws were amazing the seasoning on the crab claws Were a hit. I ordered the redfish Rockefeller and my daughter ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich. Let me say the red fish Rockefeller has a distinct taste. It is very overpowering from the fish. It has a sweet onion taste and if you like that, then I would recommend this dish, but I didn't like it at all. Our waitress was very nice and told me to pick another dish. I decided to go with chicken dish. I think it's called Bayou chicken I'm not quite sure but it has a crawfish Louie sauce. I asked for the sauce on the side just in case I didn't like it and I'm glad I did. The sauce is thick, very thick like a gravy and was tasteless. I told her I would just pay for the entrée and not worry about sending it back, but the manager came over and asked me how was the dish and I told her I wasn't a fan but I would pay for it. He said no and brought me the menu again and told me to pick another entrée I was surprised because normally by this time you know, people are over it and, not really willing to please the customer but they were. I decided just to play it safe and go with fried shrimp which came with fries and coleslaw. I'm glad I chose this dish because I really enjoyed it. Also, the French 75 was really really good.

Unfortunately, they were out of the stuffed grape leaves, and when I tried to order the hummus, they were also out of the hummus.
