Stumbled upon this gem on TikTok, while visiting Birmingham, we just had to check it out! It's a cozy little spot that has a vibrant atmosphere--dim lighting, great music, strong drinks, and tasty food! They have both indoor and outdoor seating, and since it was such a beautiful day, we decided to enjoy the patio. However, I took off a star because not a single staff member shared how things work there! After being told we could sit anywhere, we found ourselves just waiting without any guidance. At last, a server delivered food to the table next to ours, which prompted us to ask why no one had come to us. She was super apologetic and handed us menus while explaining that we need to go to the register to order and pay first, and then we'd get a number for our table. As for drinks, if you want an adult beverage, you have to order those separately at the bar. You'd think there'd be some signage indicating the process since it's a bit different from the usual! But let's talk about the food! We split the shrimp & grits and chicken & pancakes. While I usually prefer my grits creamy, I still found the shrimp mix to be tasty! The pancake was a tad thick for my liking, but the fried chicken was definitely the highlight--it was absolutely delicious! Oh, and the Hennessy Margarita? Totally on point! I give it a 4/5. The food was fresh and still warm when we arrived. The fish was crispy, and both the fish and shrimp were seasoned very well. They initially forgot the sauces, but they were kind enough to give us more than enough afterward and even included a free topping for my husband's side order. Placed my order at 1:30pm and it's 2:09 and no food yet. I sat at the bar with my food number at the bar (wasn't hiding). My bartender asked if I got food and I replied no. I know sometimes the estimated can be slow but this is ridiculous. Also ran into a friend that was leaving and she ate and was leaving. After several employees started looking etc, the found my ticket and started preparing the order. Finally got my food at 2:13pm. Very disappointed because I don't come to this area often anymore so I wanted to support the business. Second thoughts on coming back next weekend with friends. My friend and I decided to finally try the brick and mortar business out of a food truck I had visited awhile back. If I may be honest, the service at the food truck had left me underwhelmed so I wasn't in a hurry to visit their location. After a year or so of being open, today was the day we decided to go. The ambiance was nice, and put me in the feel of a cool date spot or a nice lounge. Music was playing loud on the speakers but it wasn't a deal breaker. Upon sharing with the lady at the register that this was our first time there, she politely told us how to order. She was super pleasant and bubbly which definitely was a highlight of our visit. I opted for the Cajun chicken Alfredo with sausage and my guy ordered the mild lemon pepper wings and fries. My food came out about ten minutes before his. Just on looks alone I was skeptical. Keep in mind it had been a few years since I ordered from their food truck but I remembered their Alfredo to be a winner. This order was not. The chicken was very dry and not plentiful at all. There was no Cajun flavor anywhere near this dish though you could see that it was sprinkled on top. The sausage was overcooked but because it's Conecuh sausage (iykyk) it was tasty as it always is. The Alfredo sauce was very bland, lacked any sort of flavor that I remember it having, and didn't cover all of the noodles. My friend stated that his wings were on the spicy side (he ordered mild) so he would hate to see what the hot flavor profile was like. He couldn't finish them all and decided to take them to go. Our food came out in to-go containers anyway even though we were eating in. Not sure if that was on purpose or they had run out of their usual plates. I really wanted to like this place. I had recommended it before to a friend that wanted a place that served good drinks since I had heard this was a high point here, and her and her family loved their experience. As for our food, it left me wanting to go to another restaurant where Alfredo is served the right way. Don't let my review stop you from trying this place out. Maybe it was a new cook. Maybe they were having an off day. Maybe there are better choices on the menu. I don't know. As for me, I don't plan on returning anytime soon. read more

We came in Sunday for brunch and we hit it at the right time. When we walked in, we were immediately seated. Our server took our drink order and gave us some time to look over the menu. The restaurant has a very nice vibe of energy and they have people moving all over. We placed our order and we had the roasted chicken and the redfish. The chicken was a quarter piece that was roasted and seasoned very well. The mac & cheese was real creamy. The collard greens had the right texture and were my favorite. The yams were not too sweet but just right. My fish had a cornbread dressing with a crab meat sauce that was amazing! I went to Encore Rouge Gourmet Street Food about a month ago and here's how that went. Rashad invited me and Tony to check this place out. (disclaimer Tony did not eat because he's been here before and refused the food) I ordered 3 things a burger, chicken sandwich, and a frozen lemondae and ordered fried shrimp for a friend because she couldn't make it. The burger was a bacon cheese burger. It was okay the bun was flat when I got it and the burger was seasoned with something that was very off putting I refused to take another bite. 5/10 The Chicken sandwich was better than the burger. It was fried well but lacked seasoning I could literally only taste the sweet sauce it was covered in. 7/10 The fries were okay standard fries but were soggy 6/10 The frozen lemondae was just okay it didn't have a good mixture of sweet and sour it was a bit too sour for me. 5/10 I had already heard mixed reviews of this place but I'm a person who likes to see for themselves. The menu is also a bit weird because it contains a lot of Alfredo sauce dishes and I hate Alfredo lol. But for a place that's supposed to be Gourmet Street Food I didn't see hardly anything that would be considered street food here. Not to mention I waited over an hour for the fried shrimp, we were already done with our food by the time I even got it. Everything in there seemed like their system was flawed. Employees running around, lost or mixed up tables and tickets everywhere. The employees were just all over the place looking confused. Went in on a Friday evening and was VERY confused on what to do. No one was there to greet or direct us. My friend and I sat down for a bit and then decided to go sit down at the bar. Once seated we were acknowledged after about 15 minutes and didn't get actually serviced until about 30-45 minutes after that, right before happy hour ended (7). It didn't seem that packed but it was apparently very overwhelming for the staff. The food is very average like other reviews have said. The trio alfredo definitely wasn't worth $18 but I needed to eat something before drinking. The star of the show are the drinks and the ambiance. It is definitely a vibe with good music and the drinks were delicious. They have a $6 Lemon Drop happy hour special and they have SO many flavors to choose from. I got the watermelon flavor which tasted like a tootsie roll which I LOVED lol. My friend loved her blueberry lemon drop. I also got the Caramel Apple Drip (with crown apple) and it was tasty but the green apple flavor was a bit too overwhelming. Another business that I frequented at their food truck prior to the brick-and-mortar. I stopped by on a Saturday and service was really quick. I have to say the first person I encountered was not pleasant (I almost canceled my order) but the young lady that delivered my food to the table made up for it!!! I decided on the Crispy Fried Catfish and fries. My fish was fried hard just like I prefer and not overly seasoned and the fries were hot and crispy. I'm glad I stopped by and decided to stay. The garlic alfredo parmesan were fried perfectly, crisp even with sauce, but the wings lacked seasoning. They would have been 10/10 if the flavor was there. I currently live in Charlotte but keep up with everything by Bham now and I saw a post about Encore Rouge and I said the next time I'm home that I was definitely going to stop by here and check it out. The ambiance was definitely my vibe as they played music that I enjoy. I sat at the bar and some drinks before I ordered some food as the drinks was reasonably priced. The bartender was pretty good and attentive to my needs, the entire menu looked good but I was in the mood for catfish and seasoned fries. The wait for my food wasn't long at all and my catfish was a golden brown and cooked perfectly. I said that I was going to make this a regular hang out spot for me whenever I'm in town. The only downside that I can point out is parking as I did struggle to find a parking spot but I did go at lunch time. This place rocks though. read more

Service is lacking that "come in, be seated and browse the menu" process. Ordering at a cash register is not working when more than 2 people are in line. The ordering line blocks the walkway and creates a bottleneck that should be eliminated. The black wall is depressing and makes it difficult to tell from the street if they're open. Our bartender made a valiant effort to keep up but she was one person with a big group and other patrons to take care of. I didn't get a particularly friendly vibe from her as she asked me to take my seat while she finished setting up the bar, shortly after opening time. I had dinner with a friend yesterday at Encore Rouge and it was very good. I have been there a few times and the vibe is always nice with R&B music playing. There were a good amount of people there for a Tuesday evening, but not surprising due to the good food and service. My friend recommended this place for lunch we both were first timers here. I expected someone to greet me when I walked in and give me some direction but none of the employees said anything so I stood at the door for a minute until I asked the girl at the bar. You order at the bar, take a number, and seat yourself (so you won't look crazy like I did). I ordered the chicken Alfredo $12 and a drink. My total was $15 and I was asking her do I just grab a cup for the drink? She said I didn't pay for a drink...so on to the food. I've been so excited to try this place, and I came in with very high expectations based on everything I've seen and heard about this place. I placed a pickup order for loaded shrimp fries. It did not take long at all to get my food ready. My food was very good. The sauce was good as were the size of the shrimp. Huge! My total was close to $17 after tax and tip. I actually expected a little bit more food for what I was paying. More fries, more bacon, and a little more shrimp. They had also left a shrimp tail in my fries so it was not a perfect experience. My coworker ordered the Cajun Trio Alfredo which was alfredo pasta topped with chicken, shrimp, and sausage. We tasted some of each other's food, and I gotta say I was blown away by the sausage! It was delicious, just the right amount of heat. Possibly the best sausage I've ever had. I've seen lots of other menu items I want to try here. The food is good, but timing and service are just plain bad. After 18 years in the restaurant business, the number one rule I learned was all food needs to come out together. My group was finished eating before anyone even addressed the fact I never received my burger. In her defense, it was not our server's fault. Her fellow server stole my burger to give to someone else. On top of that, no one from management addressed the issue. They left it up to our poor server. After that, I was done. Left without eating.
