In my opinion (comparing to every cake I've ever eaten) probably the best cake I've ever had, except this cake I once ate during military deployment to Somalia in '92-'93... the cake was actually crap but for the fact that it was something sent from home to this far away land, it was the best cake ever. All kidding aside... here's what I like about CAKE Bake Shoppe. * Variety. There are a lot of flavours and choices. I particularly love the root beer and carrot cakes myself. * The sugar cookies. They don't give me heartburn which is a BIG deal because the sugar cookies from Costco, Superstore or the Sobeys bakery across the street ALWAYS give me heart burn. * Creative cakes. Sure, you can get a standard classic cake, but they do some amazing things with fondant (sp?) that makes a cake look like some kind of wonderful. It's crazy what they can make. I don't plan on getting married again so I'll like never try their wedding cakes unless I get invited to a wedding and they get their cake from CAKE. The owner - Tanya - is a gem with a real sense of humour. Watch her do her magical craft just once and you'll realize the heart, passion and soul that she puts into her work. She's got a great team working with her too. CAKE is the real deal, they make amazing things made out of cake. Try one of those mini cup cakes... I bet you CAN'T have just one. read more

I think my favourite thing about this bakery is that they do a monthly cupcake. I also like that they do smaller sizes instead of only big sizes. The one thing that bothers me is that they do not keep their social media up to date and you have to message to ask questions, etc. instead of the information being given to you. The cupcakes look amazing and were delicious! What I love is that they are a peanut/ nut free facility which is perfect for people like myself who have severe allergies. I quite like these cupcakes. The only ones I didn't like were the cookies and cream (tasted like nothing) and the vanilla one with the bright blue icing (tasted like food colouring). The salted caramel is excellent and so is the mocha - flavours you can't find just anywhere. I also really enjoyed the double chocolate and the berries one. The icing is quite hard but I didn't mind. Their cakes and cupcakes are really good - however the Cake order I placed for pick up today wasn't ready on time. I made it super clear that i needed it right at 10 and when my co-worker got there to pick it up they needed another 10-15 min which made the cake late to our surprise meeting. I also had them write on the cake and honestly it was off-centered and and exclamation was put where u had asked for a period. I know these things seem small but when you you're paying almost 100 dollars for a cake the details matter.. I have done a large bulk request from there before and everything came out perfectly. When I walked in I prayed that there was new management and that cupcakes might actually be worth eating and OMGAWD are they ever worth eating. since they opened I can not stop myself from going back. My FAVORITE treat In the cutest little shop! They have the best flavors, the cake is incredible and they're perfectly consistent every time. I think they're the best out there! I've ordered full cakes from here too and they're so good. I think I've tried most of them and I have yet to try a flavour I didn't love. Ordered 175 cupcakes two weeks before my wedding. 35 of 5 flavours. This came to about $300, so not a small chunk of change. Sent my brother on morning of the wedding to pick them up. He came home with 144 cupcakes. Luckily I counted the cupcakes so I called on Saturday the 20th August and was told "yea we only had four flavours recorded". So instead of getting hold of me they just short changed my cupcakes!!! Very unprofessional and dishonest. So they did not have 35 lemony cupcakes so I had to get what was on hand....vanilla. Had to send my friend at 3pm to pick up the rest of the cupcakes. Very unhappy with this service, unprofessional and dishonest. Do not get bulk cupcakes for your wedding here. By end of last year and before the Christmas, my boyfriend and I went to the Cake Bake Shoppe to buy some desserts for the coming holiday. The cake bake shoppe is located 11 McKenzie Towne Ave SE #230, which is 10 minutes away from our home. It's a small local family owned cake bakery. The store serves different kinds of cupcakes and desserts. All the cakes, cupcakes, and desserts were fresh. People can also order the cakes based on their flavors. We're there in the store right after the lunch. There was only one lady server in this store. She was nice and friendly. She was very helpful and provided a great customer service to us. We ordered 6 big cupcakes from the store. The prices of the cupcakes were a little bit expensive. The single cupcake is $3.85; 1/2 Dozen - 20.99; Dozen - 39.99. The taste of cupcakes were great. The cake flavour had no indication of vanilla, but rather banana and frankly missed the mark in 'a combination of flavours way' with the overly sweet berry infused icing. This place is unbelievably unprofessional!! I ordered two and a half weeks before my daughters 6th birthday due to COVID. I knew it was going to be a hard time but I paid and got confirmation. I selected delivery and on the website it asked for a delivery time. As a 6 year olds birthday party starts in the afternoon I chose 12pm. It was 3pm and still no cake. Waste of money. Not for kids, icing is too thick and hard, almost fondant like, cake is oily. Ordered cupcakes for 6 year olds party and not one child ate theirs. Too expensive. Go to Co-Op on 130th instead. Quarter of the price and much better. read more

I recently moved to south Calgary, was delighted to find this bakery hidden away in Mckenzie Towne. I had called a day before, inquiring about their shop, I was greeted by a friendly girl on the phone who seemed very helpful and knowledgeable. She informed me that they were a nut free facility and that they made custom cakes, cupcakes and cookies. I came in to check it out and probably looked like I was lost or something because the girl at the front greeted me and asked if it was my first time there. She offered me to sample one of their itty bitty cupcakes to try. I picked the red velvet, at the recommendation of the front staff. Wow!! They were absolutely amazing. So moist and the cream cheese icing on top was smooth and flavourful without being overwhelmingly sweet. All I can say is, this bakery gets 5 stars from me for the knowledgeable and friendly staff (who didn't seem "fake" and overly nice or pushy, I might add) and the tasty products! Definitely coming back for round 2 soon! Oh and the prices are modest. $3.50 for a big cupcake and like $2 for an itty bitty one. read more

I was incredibly disappointed with CAKE Bake Shoppe. I took the time to go into the store 11 days before my husband's 30th birthday and was told they don't take custom cake orders in the store and you must contact Tanya through the website. I went straight home and filled out the forms from their site, informing them of what I was looking for and the date I required the cake. I didn't hear from them for 3 days and started to panic. I sent another form asking anyone to contact me so, at the very least, I knew if I needed to contact another bakery (now being way too close to the date for a custom cake.) I still have yet to hear from anyone at the bakery and was forced to go to another bakery and order a generic cake from their menu. I can't express how frustrating the whole process was. I hope they are more accommodating to others. read more
