Jason has made cakes and cupcakes for my family for at least 5 years now. I'm in LOVE with his chocolate peanut butter cupcakes and my mom dreams about his black bottom cupcake! We were so excited to hear that he was opening a new cake shop in Timonium! So close to home. Their cakes are reasonably priced for the quality you get and they always have a bunch in shop if we need one last minute. My cousin got their wedding cake from here and it blew everyone away! The cake was 4 tiers, they had 2 flavors-apple spice and red velvet! Out of this word! People are still talking about the cake. I will say that you should call ahead if you want something special! They make everything daily so especially on holidays it's good to get your order in early. The staff is easy to reach and discuss orders with. My suggestion - try the cookie dough cupcake! I LOVE THIS FREAKING PLACE!!! My son and I get cupcakes and donuts here weekly. I now call in the morning AND follow them on Facebook so I can know what their specialty flavors are for the day. Still five stars even though I no longer have my Preggo sweet tooth. We stop in occasionally for take out cupcakes to split and have little tasting parties and we are never disappointed. I ordered a dozen of vegan cupcakes for a work party; unfortunately, we had to cancel the event because of coronavirus. The company has put everyone on telework schedule for protection. It is bad enough having to deal with a global pandemic, cancelled party, and now we cannot even got refund fo the cancelled cupcake order. "Cake" will only issue store credit claiming it is stated on the receipt. I did not get a receipt for the order placed by phone, and I was not aware of the policy because the person took the order did not bother to mention their policy. I am extremely disappointed and shocked to find out a well-known bakery with a celebrity baker is so closed-minded. They would not even consider making an exception for a forced cancellation due to something so HUGE and completely out of customer's control. Sadly, I will not recommend this place for our company's events anymore. read more

Staff was somewhat friendly, but I felt a little rushed. It was my first time there, so I needed a little extra time to read product descriptions and pricing. The packaging and presentation of the sweets were excellent. Unfortunately the sweets themselves, were just ok. I ordered 2 cupcakes and 2 doughnuts. The flavor was just ok, and everything was a bit dry. I was there around noon, so the items should've still been fresh. The doughnuts were really thick, and the taste was slightly yeasty. We visited a few bakeries before deciding on cakes by Jason which was the obvious choice almost immediately after I visited their shop. Not only was the service phenomenal, The cakes are also delicious and very well-made. We had our wedding at the four seasons so our package came with a cake selection from three very good well known local bakeries, cakes by Jason being one of them. Prior to our visit, I was able to make an appointment with Kelly and she was a joy to work with. Once we booked our Saturday appointment, they followed up with us a few days prior to confirm that we were coming. All of our communications with the staff at cakes by Jason was phenomenal from start to finish. On the day of our tasting, we got a selection of cupcakes and toppings which was interesting but I knew it had potential. During the tasting we were able to sit and talk about design, colors, flowers, tiers and just about anything that you would want on the cake and any design they could create for you. I was unaware about how intricate the wedding cake selection process and design could be but Kelly put our minds at ease. I love how I didn't have to explain much to Kelly she just kind of understood where I was going and ultimately delivered a very beautiful cake on our wedding day after only one consultation which is unheard of! This is a wonderful little cupcake shop! I love how close it is to my house and that they have a variety of vegan cupcakes! Yesterday was my first time visiting the store. The appearance of the store is nice and its location in Padonia Shopping Center is easy to get to and lots of parking. The staff was friendly and helpful when I bought 6 cupcakes at $19 (a bit over priced). I bought two boston crème, 2 strawberry and cream and 2 black bottom cupcakes. So far, so good. Since they are Baltimore's Best cupcakes, I figured I would give them a try. Unfortunately that is where everything went wrong. The cupcakes taste like dry angel food cake with no taste and the pudding used tastes like store bought boxed pudding. HORRIBLE! and Definitely NOT Baltimore's Best cupcakes as I have had other local business cupcakes that are WAY better. Who said they were the best? I would really like to know. I would chalk this up to a bad day and maybe try them again, but they were SO dry and tasteless. I spoke with my foodie friends and this is the owner's third attempt at a business and they too agreed that the reason why the previous two locations went out of business was the dry food. So, do yourself a favor and try some other business that makes good cupcakes or just go Duncan hines, which will atleast be moist. read more

Highly recommend this hidden gem. Tucked away in the Padonia shopping center and worth the trip!! I was there recently and from the minute you walk in, you feel welcomed. The little shop is quaint and cozy and the staff is very friendly. No lines which was wonderful and lots of choices to choose from donuts- to cupcakes to cakes in a jar. I also love the fact that on their FB page they list the current flavors they have for that day so you can get an ideal before you go. The cupcakes we ordered were: Cracker Jack- tastes just like the cracker jack popcorn you would get to take to the ballpark, Strawberries and Cream- very refreshing, Lemon- my favorite (If you like lemon squares, trust me this will not disappoint,) Black bottom- enough said and Choc Peanut Butter- This should be on their menu daily.... We picked up a tasting box with our chosen flavors which was a great experience. Due to the pandemic, we met on a video call to go over the order details. BEST WEDDING CAKE EVER. Highly, highly, highly recommend Cake by Jason if you are looking for the best wedding cake (at a reasonable price) in Maryland. We received so many compliments from our guests on the design of the cake that Jason and team created and it also tasted amazing! We had two flavors -- funfetti with cookie dough ganache and vanilla buttercream & chocolate black bottom cake with chocolate ganache and salted caramel buttercream. We didn't get to try the black bottom flavor, but our guests raved about it and we plan to order a mini cake for our 1st year anniversary so we can enjoy it. Kelly was absolutely FANTASTIC to work with and made everything from the tasting to the delivery seamless and easy. The entire team at Cake by Jason is extremely down to earth and kind, which made the whole experience all the more wonderful. We knew Jason from La Cakerie and Food Network, so ordered our daughter's wedding cake from Cake. Outstanding, exactly what we ordered and Jason himself delivered and set up so it would be perfect. Four different flavors, all delish. That said, I went to his new Cake place several times for cupcakes, and then donuts. What can I say about something that you swoon over? Best donut was the PBJ, oh my, but you can't go wrong with anything from Cake. I met a friend here for coffee and it was literally one of the best little spots in town! They have Zekes coffee which is awesome because I love their coffee! The donut I had was amazing and my friend and I shared a cupcake....the BEST I've ever had! The space is really modern and open as well, and apparently they host parties and workshops. I'm excited to go back and try new flavors that they offer. I'm definitely stopping by again soon to grab a dozen for my coworkers as well. AND they won Cake Wars and Cupcake Wars! The BEST gluten free cupcakes! I have tried the only other bakery in the Timonium/Cockeysville area that offers them, and this one just blows them out of the water. The icing is better (less sweet), the cake is way better (taste and consistency), and the flavors vary more often. My favorite is the vanilla, which is just perfect. And they're always fresh, while the other one sometimes serves them frozen. Just a world of difference if you also have gluten allergies. This has become a regular stop for me and my family.
