Don't mind the dents in the cake. I did it when I removed it from the box.

This is the perfect bakery for someone with multiple food allergies and it's obvious that the owners go above and beyond to ensure quality and taste are top notch. I purchased a cake and cupcakes for my daughter's 21st birthday. The cake and cupcakes were very moist, but I prefer my frosting a little more sweet. The vanilla cupcake was the star of the show and many guests enjoyed it. When I went to pick up my order, the staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, this is a great spot and I hope they continue to enjoy success.

I recently came back to Cake Girl and I'm excited to say that after all these years of me frequenting their establishment, they still amazing me with their amazing selection of vegan treats and with their excellent hospitality that makes me feel apart of the Cake Girl family. My girlfriend and I are vegan and she has a major sweet tooth but unfortunately she has Celiac disease and cannot eat gluten. So you can imagine her excitement when I took her to Cake Girl for the first time! They are 100% vegan, gluten free, and to top it off they are allergen friendly! We recently came in to pick up some treats for us and was greeted by the owner Amy and her staff, Oscar and Liz. They are all so amazing and are so friendly and accommodating. We needed a cake for my birthday and they were able to give us the most amazing birthday cake ever! I got my favorite flavor, the Macha Cake with strawberry frosting! We also took some cupcakes for us to enjoy at home. I wanted to write this review to show my gratitude to Cake Girl and their staff for making the perfect cake for my special day. I proposed to my girlfriend recently and we are excited to have Cake Girl making our wedding cake to make our special day that much sweeter!‍

Amy was able to bake a delicious chocolate cake with coconut frosting for my friend's birthday with short notice. She went above and beyond to make an amazing galaxy looking cake with a Baby Yoda Cake topper. Definitely one of the BEST vegan bakeries around . I also got some chocolate chip cookies, which are my favorite item from the bakery! And tried the seasonal pumpkin spice donuts that were soft tasty .

There is no greater delicacy than that of Cake Girl! Celebrating someone with allergies to dairy, wheat, and nuts, this was the perfect place. The flavors are rich, the donut textures are soft and fluffy, and pure perfection. Will definitely be back.

First time trying Cake Girl donuts and they did not disappoint. I tried the lemon blueberry and matcha flavors which were delicious!

Hello Cake Girl is amazing, it's delicious and affordable. One thing that I especially love about Hello Cake Girl it's POC owned and operated. Amy is a local girl who built this business all on her own. Hello Cake Girl is the official vegan bakery of King Cat Hollywood in Los Ángeles California! My go to is Hostess Cream Filled Cupcake. Make sure you check it out. Tell Amy King Cat Sent You! You're Welcome!

this place is tucked away in a corner in a very empty pharmacy but there's signs where to go in. walked in and there were so many options i didn't know what to get but i got the pizza roll, lemon blueberry donut, and chocolate donut. can never go wrong with a chocolate donut so no notes considering it's gluten free vegan and all that. i also thoroughly enjoyed the pizza roll, they even warmed it up for me :) it was cheesy and i could eat three in a row tbh the lemon one was very strong like borderline tasted extremely fragrant, like a lemon candle so wasn't a fan at first but tried it the next day and i ate it up lol omw back to try everything else!

First found this place tucked into a local convenience store on the corner in Boyle Heights, many years ago. I loved her donuts & pastries and that everything is vegan, gluten-free, wheat-free, egg-free, dairy-free, soy-free, peanut-free, nut-free (except coconut). They actually taste great. After leaving LA a few years back, I was sad to see that so many Vegan Businesses had shut down post COVID; that was a very difficult time for these places to survive. Luckily, and with perseverance, this wonderful shop survived. We decided to visit and share the goodness with our toddler. They have more of a selection now, but overall, is the same place. Parking on the street is all paid, but I always find a spot. When I was selecting our number of goodies I recognized the owner, "Cake Girl", and apologize for not recalling her name. We picked out 6 donuts (Churro, Strawberry Sprinkle, Matcha, and Ube Coconut), and a couple of everything donuts (made with the leftovers rolled into a big ball). Each and every one was delicious! If you haven't been here, don't let the Vegan/Gluten Free aspect scare you...they're all delicious and not dry. Come visit this place in the back of the bodega, and tell all your friends. #SupportLA ...especially during these times.

Since my girlfriend is currently avoiding both gluten and dairy, I was looking for a delicious chocolate cake for her birthday that wouldn't resemble a rock or require more than a week's advance notice to order. Cake Girl to the rescue! Ordering by and paying over the phone was easy, pick-up in their charming 50's style pharmacy was a breeze (street parking right out front), and I grabbed some candles while I was there. They even provided me with a business card verifying the allergens they avoid using, which allowed me to store the cake in the kitchen of the gluten-free restaurant we were having her dinner at. Oh, and the cake was a hit!

Picked some of these babies up for my boyfriend's birthday because he's allergic to gluten and they were SOOO good!! Everyone loved them.

What a hidden gem. Tucked inside a pharmacy, it's easy to miss but absolutely worth the hunt. Everything is completely vegan and gluten free, and you would never even guess. I can't begin to describe how delicious everything is here. The hibiscus donut, the churro donut, the brownie, the cream filled donut--every single item is incredible. Cute space and friendly people! This is a woman owned small business and truly something special. The prices are more than fair. Do yourself a favor and check it out. You'll want to keep going back.

The pita bread was so good! We also really like the chicken sambousek, I wish they had beef too. The Fattoush salad was refreshing & super tasty, I really liked the pomegranate lemon dressing. For main entrees we enjoyed the Mediterranean Chicken Manoush (pizza). It was a good size, next time we will try the Merguez Sausage pizza. We also really like the Braised Short Ribs and the Mediterranean Halibut. Both dishes were tender & flavorful, just wish they were bigger. We really liked their fresh squeezed hibiscus lemonade and the fresh mint lemonade. Unfortunately the desserts were only ok, they were a little dry. We tried the bread pudding, pistachio rose cake, Nutella jam cookie and carrot cake. We will definitely return to try more items on the menu.

Maccheroni Republic - Life is full of pasta-bilities!…read more So if you know anything about me, you know that I love pasta more than just about anything. While I can only officially claim about 12% Italian heritage, I'm 100% down for Italian food, especially homemade pasta, any day of the week. I'm spending this week in Little Tokyo for a conference, and while Japanese food is also absolutely my jam, when Maccheroni Republic slid into my Yelp feed, I knew that I had to hoof it over there immediately after we broke for the day. I saw the front of the building, and my heart sank because it looked closed, but then I noted the sign that indicated that the entrance is on the right side of the building through the courtyard. Thank goodness! I strutted through the courtyard, and observed about 15 people waiting for tables. Unbothered, I went up to the host stand and chatted with the stylish maitre'd - Dino - who indicated that he could have a table for me in 7-10 minutes. I proceeded to wait and I watched how he deftly sat the other waiting parties in order without difficulty or notes. To the untrained eye, it might have looked a little chaotic, but Dino absolutely knew what he was doing. About 15 minutes later, Dino sat me at a corner deuce in the inside dining room where I had a nice view of everything. Angel efficiently took my order and did a very good job of overseeing my table as well as about nine others. The dining room is so cute and homey, and the patio is a welcome respite from the bustle and business of downtown. Since I was "da sola" or on my own, I just tried the shrimp cakes and I ordered the Rigatoni all Norma which is one of of my go to pasta dishes since I don't eat much meat. Incidentally, this dish is named after Norma, the famous 19th-century opera composed by Catanese native Vincenzo Bellini. According to legend, a famous Sicilian playwright, Nino Martoglio, tried the pasta and was so overwhelmed by its perfection that he exclaimed, "Chista è 'na vera Norma!" ("This is a true Norma!"), comparing the culinary masterpiece to the musical one. So says Wikipedia anyway. The shrimp cakes were delivered quickly by a sweet food runner who kindly checked on me periodically during my dinner. The four shrimp cakes were accompanied by sauteed onions which paired really nicely with the crispy cakes that were brightened with a spritz from the fresh lemon wedge. She also brought a basket with four slices of Italian bread which I enjoyed with the EVOO and Balsamic that were on the table. My Watermelon Ciao was also so good. It was sweetly tart and such a nice treat on a Monday! Not long after I polished off the shrimp cakes, the rigatoni was delivered and dusted with a generous layer of parmigiana. The little fresh mozzarella pearls glistened on the top of the pasta and slowly melted and oozed into the sauce as I stirred it up. Yum! The rigatoni were al dente and delicious, and they were perfectly sauced. Of course, the eggplant was perfectly cooked as well, I only wish there had been a few more pieces of it - although by the time I ate the last noodle, I was so full! Alas, I had no room for dessert, but I intend to bring some of my conference colleagues back for a meal before the end of the week because it was THAT GOOD. I also loved that this place is NOT pretentious at all. There were all sorts of folks enjoying their food here from medical professionals in scrubs to college kids in shorts and t-shirts, and I was also very casually attired, but I was treated well and welcomed with graciousness and delicious food! Mille grazie Maccheroni Republic, Dino, Angel and everyone at this wonderfully lowkey yet fabulous trattoria.

A delicious but pricey breakfast‑burger spot…read more While the surrounding shops are still asleep, this place already has a long line at 8 a.m. They only have locations in L.A. County, so I have to drive 43 minutes from Irvine to eat here. Sausage, Egg & Cheese Sandwich: This is the one I think tastes the best. The chicken sausage is shaped into a patty, and with the mayo, the jammy egg, and the brioche bun, it's genuinely delicious. Calling it an elevated McMuffin isn't an exaggeration. Their brioche bun is excellent. Even after sitting for 20 minutes and cooling down, it stays soft, fragrant, and slightly sweet. Double Cheeseburger with Bacon: Tasty, but the $20 price tag for a single burger shocks me. The best part is the satisfaction of biting into the double patties loaded with caramelized onions, special mayo, and runny egg yolk. The extra $3.50 bacon is good too--neither overly salty nor too tough. Egg Salad Sandwich: The organic egg salad mixed with arugula, chives, and honey mustard tastes good, though not particularly mind‑blowing. Slut: Honestly, the toast itself is just okay, but dipping it into the egg‑potato mixture is a creative way to eat it. A glass jar holds a sous‑vide organic soft‑boiled egg blended with potato purée, topped with a sprinkle of sea salt and chives. Before eating, it's best to stir the egg and potato thoroughly so the salt doesn't stay concentrated on top. Cinnamon Toast Cold Brew & Vanilla Cream Cold Brew: Slightly bitter, slightly acidic, and pretty enjoyable. The ingredients differ, but they actually taste quite similar. A warning for the lactose‑intolerant: I'm not sure whether it's the food or the drinks, but about three hours after finishing the meal, I always end up with stomach pain and an urgent bathroom trip.

We walked into a compact, casual space that feels more like the type of place you stop into for a quick lunch or snack than somewhere designed for a long meal. The simplicity works in its favor, especially given how much attention goes into the food itself. The onigiri are the main reason to visit, and they are consistently the highlight of the menu. The rice is well seasoned, the fillings are generous, and each rice ball feels substantial enough to serve as an actual meal rather than just a snack. The Beef Sukiyaki onigiri stands out for its savory flavor, with the filling adding a richness that complements the rice without making it feel heavy. Beyond the beef, the variety of fillings gives you enough options to try different combinations on repeat visits. Beyond the onigiri, the hand rolls provide another strong option. The seafood tastes fresh, the nori maintains a good texture, and the rolls feel like a natural extension of the rest of the menu. Drinks such as the Matcha Horchata and Lychee Lemonade add some variety and give the restaurant a few signature items beyond the rice balls themselves. The Matcha Horchata is an interesting fusion drink that combines the earthy matcha with the creamy cinnamon notes of horchata, and the Lychee Lemonade offers a lighter, fruitier option for those looking for something refreshing. The portions are generous for the price, especially given the location in Little Tokyo. Service tends to be fast and efficient, which fits the restaurant's quick-service format. The staff are friendly and willing to make recommendations, which is helpful for first-time visitors who may not be familiar with onigiri beyond convenience store versions. Orders come out quickly, making it an easy stop whether you are exploring the neighborhood or simply looking for a casual meal. Rice & Nori succeeds by focusing on a relatively narrow menu and doing it well. The combination of flavorful onigiri, fresh hand rolls, reasonable prices, and quick service makes it one of the more reliable casual food stops in Little Tokyo. It may not be a destination for an elaborate dining experience, but for a satisfying and approachable introduction to onigiri, it is easy to see why so many people return regularly.

Food came out fresh and made-to-order. Now, when I am saying "fresh" and "made-to-order", I mean incredibly hot, crunchy, juicy, and delicious. For what feels like a little, unsuspecting chicken shop....their food blew me away. This was fried perfection, and I could only wish I had a location out here in Phoenix, Arizona, because I want more badly!! The service was incredibly fast, friendly, and even gracious which I feel like I don't see very much. I look forward to my next visit to LA, because I will be getting Lucky Bird again.

Lucky Bird is a popular fried chicken spot in Los Angeles' Grand Central Market, it's known for its citrus-brined chicken with a light, crispy crust, served in sandwiches, tenders, and buckets. Their food and drink menu was modest. They have a counter seat for dine-in customers. I got the Honey Sammie sandwich ($16) . And it was thick, tasty and warm. I liked it. Staff were affable and attentive. Prices are a bit pricey. Overall, it's a decent place to get a good chicken sandwich.
