Y'all know I'm always down for a great local café, and this place absolutely delivers. The space is bright, clean, and open, with an effortlessly elevated feel. There's a beautiful outdoor patio with café tables, fire pits, lounge seating, and plenty of room for groups. Inside, there's a steady buzz of first dates, remote workers, and friends catching up. The pastry case is packed with fresh-baked pastries and breads, and they even serve fresh stone oven baked pizzas. My friend was OBSESSED with their smores cookie. It truly was one of a kind and absolutely amazing! Highly recommend getting. Their menu covers breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with plenty of options for a variety of dietary preferences. The drink menu is straightforward and lets the coffee and tea shine. I ordered the BLT on focaccia with the house salad, and the portion was Texas-sized. I even had leftovers to take home. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared. While prices are on the higher end, the quality ingredients, generous portions, welcoming atmosphere, and thoughtful touches make it worth it. After several visits to Boul'Ange on Fairfax, I think I've gotten a good sense of what this café does well and where it's falling short. First, the positives. The space is beautiful. It's one of those cafés that works equally well for brunch, meeting friends, or simply stopping in for coffee and pastries. The atmosphere is inviting, the décor is well thought out, and it's a place you genuinely want to spend time in. They also offer something that's surprisingly difficult to find in one place: solid coffee, good food, and quality pastries. Unfortunately, the biggest issue has been consistency in the kitchen. Every visit we've ordered many of the same dishes, yet they've come out noticeably different each time. Sometimes the food is well executed, and other times it's almost unrecognizable compared to a previous visit. Even the chicken has varied from one visit to the next. As a customer, you shouldn't have to wonder whether you'll receive the same dish you enjoyed before or something completely different. Our most recent visit was the most disappointing. My friend ordered a salad with a side of chicken and specifically requested no cheese due to a dairy allergy. The salad still arrived with cheese. Instead of remaking it, it appeared the kitchen simply removed the visible cheese and returned the same salad. It was obvious from how the salad looked after it came back, and while eating it we still found pieces of cheese, confirming it had not been remade. When someone has a food allergy, that's simply not an acceptable way to handle the situation. My fried chicken sandwich was equally disappointing. The piece of chicken was barely half the size of the bun, making the sandwich feel poorly assembled and completely out of proportion. It was disappointing enough that I asked for a refund. On top of that, this wasn't an isolated experience. We've had mistakes with our orders on previous visits, and during multiple visits we also noticed other customers dealing with incorrect orders as well. That points to a broader issue rather than a one-time mistake. I also think the manager on duty during our last visit could have handled the situation better. Strong management is essential in a café with this much potential, especially when mistakes happen. Boul'Ange has all the ingredients to become one of the better cafés in the area. The space is excellent, the coffee is solid, and the pastries are genuinely good. Right now, though, the kitchen lacks consistency, and until those operational issues are addressed, it's difficult to know what kind of experience you'll have from one visit to the next. read more

On the morning of Sunday, August 2, we had a family breakfast at Boul'ange. I think I've been here about five or six times so far. Back in January, I came here for brunch with about 10 members of my group. At that time, they didn't accept reservations, so my friend and I had to arrive very early just to secure a large table for everyone. It was quite a struggle. Afterward, I mentioned in my Yelp review that not accepting reservations was very inconvenient. Whether my review had any influence or not, I noticed on a later visit that they had started displaying a "Reserve for Table" sign. So, a few days ago, I called ahead and made a reservation for six people at 9:30 a.m. I originally wanted to order a pizza, but I was told that pizza is only available after 11:00 a.m., so I couldn't order it. At first, I was thinking about getting the Avocado Toast, but then I found out that the Boul'ange Breakfast comes with a croissant, butter, and jam, so I changed my order. The Boul'ange Breakfast included three slices of bacon, scrambled eggs, cherry tomatoes, and a croissant. As for everyone else's orders, one of my brothers had the Breakfast Sandwich, my other brother ordered the Boul'ange Breakfast, my mom also had the Boul'ange Breakfast, one of my mom's friends who was visiting from Korea ordered the Greek Salad, and another one of her friends had the Salmon Toast. We all drank Americanos, and for dessert, we shared a slice of carrot cake. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor dining area is quite spacious and comfortable, which I really like. However, compared to my visit a few months ago, I noticed that they have added more outdoor tables. Another thing I like about this place is that parking is free, the food is always delicious, and the staff are consistently friendly and welcoming. Wow. 5 stars solely based on the ambiance itself. A friend of mine showed me this spot and it was great. Boul'ange is one of the nicest coffee spots I have been to. The ambiance speaks for itself. Pair that with good food and drinks? Match made in heaven. I tried their matcha and chai latte. The matcha latte is more focused on the matcha flavor which I can appreciate. I personally do like it a little sweeter but in a place like Boul'ange , they focus on quality and want the ingredients to stand out. The chai latte was great! Really good flavor and not overpowering. I also got to try their mushroom pizza which tasted so fresh. Simple ingredients made it so well balanced. Service was amazing. Okay, this place is spacious and so well-decorated. It is perfect for catching up with friends or getting some work done alone. I love this place. What a pleasant surprise! The place itself is amazing - large open veranda with built in sofa lining almost the entire wall with tables for both groups and couples. Perfect place to relax, hang out and enjoy perfect LA weather. It's also very dog friendly - which a big plus for me. Inside is very tastefully decorated with and an exhibit of ceramic art - and two counters to order from, one side is for coffee and the other is for food. Their food is good, clean and tasty. We ordered the tempura cauliflower, crosscut fries and arugula snow salad. Well priced too. Also everyone who works there seems to like what they're doing. Friendly, warm and very helpful. Only thing is, parking can be difficult. There is a small parking lot, but with the size of this place it's easily full - so good luck with find street parking. And I went during off hours. I liked the vibe of this spot. It was packed however. The servers were really nice and everything was pretty quick service wise. Definitely a nice spot to grab a latte and pastry or meet up with a friend. I have not tried the food or dining. My friend got a pain au chocolat and an olive oil cake. We felt the pain au chocolat was just ok (an odd butteriness. Not bad, just odd? I'm also super picky on croissants and pain au chocolat in general though. We didn't like that it wasn't warmed either). The olive oil cake was pretty good. He got an iced latte and said it was fine. I got a matcha latte with oat milk and enjoyed it. Definitely feel like their beverages are great. I got an oatmeal cookie and thought it was on the smaller side and kind of mid flavour profile. Not bad though, perhaps I should have tried something else. I'd definitely come back to try more drinks and maybe bread? It's called boul'ange after all and I didn't try too many of their pastries. I've been to Boul'ange a few times for brunch eats now and I just love it. The staff has always been over~the~top (but in a good way) nice when I've been in. Just so friendly and kind, really willing to help, be patient - like Disney level service in here. It's refreshing to receive such great treatment at a morning spot! I also like that they have a huge indoor space for seating, plus plenty of outdoor seats. I've sat in the patio area both times I've gone and was impressed with servers being able to always find us. They give you a number to take for your order to the table and then they'll bring your eats & drinks out. Now both times I've gone, I've had the Breakfast Sandwich. The chino valley organic pasture raised scrambled eggs are done perfectly with a piquillo emulsion on a brioche bun. I absolutely love having this for breakfast. Their Caesar salad was very fresh with light dill, parmesan reggiano and house-made caesar dressing sprinkled on top. Finally, their pastries are just divine! The matcha cookie is chewy and soft in all the right ways with tasty flavor. The blueberry brioche was covered in berries and tasted fantastic. The conchas are great - loved my matcha one. I haven't tried any of the coffee drinks yet but surely will on a future visit. However the ~ *Butterfly Pea Flower Refresher ($8) *Yuzu Lemonade ($5) *Lavender Lemonade ($5) -are all excellent drinks and so darn pretty. It's by far the best salad I've ever had in this county. I added chicken and that too was a solid addition. My co pilot had the Caesar salad which was also tremendous. It's such a California vibe with the beautiful umbrellas and minimalistic, decor, and plants. When you think of California sunshine, this is the spot. Parking in surrounding area on the street is relatively easy to find if you don't mind walking. I may have missed it, but I didn't see the menu at all and so it was quite difficult to decide what I wanted with the menu directly in front of the cashier and the line being so long. I had to just take a chance and pick whatever I saw, which turned out to be a good choice. The breakfast sandwich and platter had really soft eggs that were really tasty on the bun. I wonder why the tomatoes have to be so big! Other that, everything is just perfect. The juice drinks like berry beware are pretty pricey being over $14 a glass! The workers there are beyond nice, very helpful in reviewing the menu, and pays attention to all the little things. I didn't get any food, but it looked amazing. As you're working, a man's just stretching pizza dough on the side and it smells amazing when they get the pizza oven on. There's plenty of seating inside for you to do some work. You get free WiFi if you ask for the password, but it expires every hour so you have to keep asking. I didn't notice many outlets, so come charged. The Boul'ange is a great place for community. The inside of the cafe is perfectly made up of plenty of seating and gorgeous interior design all around. I enjoyed my time here reading a book and analyzing the architecture of the cafe. The workers were all through the cafe, providing excellent and friendly service to all visitors. The only downside was the latte I ordered. It was a regular latte with oat milk but wasn't the best. It tasted a bit bitter/pungent which I wasn't a fan of. Maybe next time I'll try a different drink or a perhaps a pastry. The service was fine, as you enter the cafe, you approach the cashier to order your drinks and any food items you might need. Pastries will be handed to you along with a table number for any drinks or food items that has been ordered. I've only really tried their pastries and I have to say they were decent but not amazing? It took two visits for me to finally get to try their croissant, while it was tasty and flaky, I didn't think it was amazing and I definitely have had better in LA. I've also tried their cappuccino and latte, both were just ok. It is a rich chewy chocolate cookie with a marshmallow/graham cracker coating - Hazelnut biscotti - sweetness was well balanced and it had the perfect texture and was not too hard to bite into Shareables: all the dishes came very nicely presented! - Calamari frites - these were quite good! The batter was light and airy and didn't feel overly heavy. I like how they had fried and battered thin lemon slices and jalapeños in this dish as well for the extra flavor and kick - Fries - the fries were solid and we really enjoyed the garlic aioli it came with - Labneh with honey and flatbread - Wow! This was so delicious - one plate had the labneh (strained yogurt) with honey, and the other plate had a fresh and well seasoned flatbread. The yogurt was slightly tangy and paired well with the honey and warm, fresh flatbread - made for a super tasty combination! I've been here a few times. The food is good, and the space is great. Street parking on Fairfax is fairly easy. The seats aren't too close together, and I really love the layout of this place. It's rare to find a space this airy. If you're debating whether you should go here or not, just go. It's very nice. Don't make it sound like their food is unhealthy. It's misleading. People become unhealthy because of the portions they eat. Very pretty place and, great service from beginning to end. The servers were attentive. Food was good but pricey for what it is. Went on a rainy Sunday and it was pretty full. One critique is having customers stand pretty awkwardly as they wait for someone to get up from their table. Saw some young ladies standing with their plate on one hand and coffee on the other just waiting til a spot opened. One of the bussers was on top of it though, asking other customers with empty seats at their table if they minded the extra company. If that's not already company policy and the busser did that on his own, it NEEDS to become standard! The place is way too pretty (and expensive) to have people waiting on the sides. Another observation I made was of a few customers no longer consuming and just sat while working. I get it if it's not busy, but pretty inconsiderate when there's a full house. Not a good place to work (on weekends at least). Would I dine in again? Probably not. Would I go to their espresso bar and order a coffee and pastry to go? I might! read more

I am blown away at everything this restaurant/cafe offers. Mid-city desperately needed a full-service cafe that is both upscale and cozy. The space is expansive, and has so much seating for people to come work, meet, etc. They have a designated coffee bar, as well. The place is really well designed, and has a great menu. Customer service was 10/10. The gentleman behind the counter assisting us was so helpful. He gave us his personal recommendations, warmed up some of the items we selected, and really showed his enthusiasm for us being there. Food, another 10/10. Every single pastry/bakery item was delicious. The caesar salad was so crisp and fresh. The matcha was authentic, and done right (although, you can ask for some vanilla syrup, in case you like it sweet like me). I can't wait to see how this place evolves. They are a new Japanese French cafe and the vibes are so good! There's lots of indoor and outdoor seating and it's absolutely gorgeous. The matcha latte is good and earthy, however I could really go for a stronger matcha flavor. The campfire cookie is so good, it's has marshmallow and brownie bits inside and it's so chewy. I also saw them making pizzas from fresh, I really need to give those a try in the future! Service is really great, they're all really nice and drinks come out pretty quickly. read more

This has to be LA's new place to cowork! I love that this place has a dedicated parking lot! They have a café portion. I'm assuming if you're on the go you can order and leave. They have a beautiful arrangement of ceramics on sale and connected to that café is seating area. Where you can order up at Front they have assortment of baked goods and breads. This place is a little bit on the pricey side. Their egg sandwich was very good! Everyone comes here to work and they give Wi-Fi codes for an hour long. read more

Said to be popular bakery in Shinjuku, it really tickled my curiosity to pay a visit ASAP. Especially just returned from Tokyo and didn't get a chance to visit Shinjuku. The venue got my jaw dropped given its size in this location, which was like the city's kinda center of crowd gravity. So huge, and not only the indoor space but also the outdoor patio. It really felt like I was teleported somewhere out of the city. It seemed to be popular for its baguette, but unfortunately tons of items on the pastry case was already sold out Saturday noon. The waitress did mention they got super busy from really early in the morning. I ended up with her reco of their top items from what's left on the showcase, getting their Matcha Cookie. Thanks to her, I enjoyed it being not so thick yet lusciously chewy with kickin' matcha flavor. Going all matcha, I tried their matcha latte, which TBH was bit the opposite to the cookie. While the cookie's matcha flavor was strong, the matcha latte tasted kinda watered down for my liking. Will I come back? Probably for their other pastries and just enjoying the cozy space! read more

Great pleasant surprise. The ambiance had charm, fresh flowers, pottery and books. Those are all things I'm drawn to. The service was very attentive. I was surprised that 2 different managerial people came over to ask about our experience and the food. It is unusual for management anywhere to be so attentive. I loved the mushroom pizza, Cesar's salad and the "to die for cookies" I think they were called back yard cookies. Those are addictive! My left over pizza tasted just as delicious the next day. Such a lovely spot to have lunch or grab some coffee and pastries. My friend and I ordered the Greek and Caesar salad with a side of chicken. The chicken was so tender and juicy. Both salads were ! I got an Arnold Palmer that did not disappoint. read more
