The only thing I hate about this place is that it's so far away! We came here on a Friday around 2pm. No line, ordered right away, and food came in 10 min. We got the chicken rice, braised pork belly rice, Hong Kong milk tea, and Kaya toast. All were soooo good!! One thing we really loved besides the food was the decor-- the artwork and furniture made us feel like were back in Asia.

Love Liu's cafe! They have classic taiwanese food like beef noodle soup, chicken rice, and the hong kong toast is amazing. It's self seating - you order at the front then pick your own seat. The only con was the service could be better, wish the servers could have stopped by to check in and clean dishes more frequently especially since the tables can be small

Came on a Thursday for dinner and there was no line. The workers were friendly and welcoming. You order first and then find a spot to sit. The inside is decorated really nicely with a Taiwan-inspired vibe. The pricing was also good and affordable for the portion sizes. We got the sesame cold noodles, which were so good and refreshing. We also ordered the braised pork belly rice bowl, and they were generous with the pork belly, it covered the entire bowl, and the rice was fully soaked in the flavorful sauce, making it incredibly delicious. We also got the Hong Kong-style French toast, which was sooo good and definitely a must-order. It's perfect for sharing too. I'll definitely be back to try more dishes!

Wow, I was impressed with all three dishes! The portions are small, so it's not too pricey, but you may need to order more dishes to be satiated. The spicy wontons had the perfect spice and the rice topped with pork was flavorful. It's hard to choose the better dish because they all complement so well, but if I had to choose, I would recommend the sesame cold noodle the most! The sauce paired with the veggies and noodles so so well.

Always heard about Liu's cafe and wish I could have stopped by when they were still serving ice cream. Although, the food here was very delicious! I was lowkey having doubts bc I feel like nothing can really beat Chinese/Taiwanese food in the 626, but honestly it's a really nice fusion restaurant to have in ktown. It's a small cafe, expect to look only for street parking. I also liked the soft dimmed lighting they had in the restaurant, it made it feel even more cozier. We ordered a bunch of items to share, they unfortunately ran out of wontons that night boo. We ordered the sesame cold noodle, chicken rice bowl, hk style french toast, beef noodle soup, and the braised pork belly rice. Everything was quite delicious! I was well surprised how the beef noodle soup was also pretty good, the beef was very tender and soft. A lot of places i've been too had their beef usually pretty tough. Broth was also very nice and hearty. Chicken was very soft. The sesame cold noodle was my favorite! I just love sesame/peanut butter taste, so I just enjoyed this one a lot. The hk style french toast was also made very well, not too soggy, but very crispy and airy! Overall, everything was really good. I liked how you can just order at the cashier and seat yourself. Everything was pretty clean. Food also came out very quickly. It wasn't too busy despite coming during prime dinner time.

I was shocked by how affordable the food was! Amazing! I haven't seen these prices since before the pandemic. The food quality was great. Definitely hits the Asian comfort food bar! Lots of warm rice paired with flavorful meat, and umami laden noodles! The place was clean and had some cool looking art aim the walls. Food came quickly and ordering was a breeze.

No matter how many times i've had Liu's Cafe, I never grow tired of it! My favorite items off them menu are the Chiayi Chicken Rice and the Hong Kong French Toast. The french toast is filled with custard and isn't too sweet (the best asian compliment)! They just recently added Kaya Toast to their menu, with coconut or pandan jam and salted egg yolk grated on top. They're both tasty but I am a pandan lover! The food is always consistent and comes out fast. It does get busy and there may be a little bit of a wait but it is definitely worth it.

What happened to all the things I used to love about this cafe like their bakery items and Taiwanese canned drinks? They now focus strictly on popular lunch items and handmade drinks. I ordered the SPICY WONTONS with seven pieces and a HONG KONG MILK TEA. The wontons were served in a very small bowl and were gone in about ten bites. This comfort food felt too small to be considered a meal and was more like a snack or light treat. The Hong Kong Milk Tea tasted like a standard milk tea. I did not notice anything distinctive that would justify the Hong Kong label. Utensils, water cups, and napkins are all self-serve. While my coworker's orders came out almost instantly as we were looking for seats, my order took noticeably longer. Overall, I really wish they would bring back the bakery. I genuinely enjoyed their pineapple buns and was hoping to take some home.

My friends saw this place on social media and wanted to try it. Food: 5/5 We ordered one of everything on the menu. The food portions were a little small, but the food was all there! I really liked their sesame cold noodles, it was earthy, spicy, and the noodles were tender. We also really like their desserts that reminded me of Hong Kong. Their milk tears are pretty good, but just kinda pricey because milk teas at HK cafes are usually have unlimited refills. Service: 4/5 This place is a cross between fast food and sit down. You order first and pay first at the counter then sit down to eat. This place is really busy and before they even opened, there was a line out the door. Once you finish your food, it felt like our servers were trying to kick us out to make room for the line. I understand why they did that, but we just felt a little rushed. Ambiance: 5/5 This place is like a modern take of traditional HK Cafes. The interior and decor is cute and quant. Parking here is really limited.

Really delicious food for the price! I've always wanted to try this place given the popularity over the years so I dragged my boyfriend to take us out here for brunch. The braised pork had so much flavor and the fat rendered nicely onto the rice. I normally don't like rice dishes too much but I always have a soft spot for braised pork rice. The spicy wontons were okay for me, they were good but I've definitely had ones with better tasting sauce. The french toast was delicious, more on the decadent side since it's filled with a custard. We ordered at the front and the food was brought out to us quite fast. I would love to come back and try some of their other dishes along with their pastries.

Been on my list of places to try forever and finally got to stop by over the weekend! Came here around 8:15 PM so there was no wait - our food came out pretty quickly and was really delicious. The HK toast was insanely rich and decadent, and wish I had a chance to try the kaya toast as well. I know this is more commonly a breakfast and lunch spot, but the cozy warm vibes at night for dinner were awesome. My only gripe (that was not at all the restaurant's fault) is we were in a rush to find parking since the restaurant was closing soon and opted to park at the valet lot behind the restaurant - which was $16.50!!! Such a rip off. All in all, I will definitely be back (with more time to spare so that I can park elsewhere lol)!

Simply delicious, no wonder it's on the Bib Gourmand list. The place isn't big, but it's full of heart. I tried both their brunch/lunch and dinner menus, which are mostly the same, except that lunch doesn't serve beef noodle soup but offers a nice selection of fresh pastries, each with its own unique character and incredibly delicious, while the beef noodle soup is exclusive to dinner. Both are fantastic in their own way. My top picks are the Taiwanese beef noodle soup, the cold sesame noodles w shredded (hand-peeled) chicken, and their assortment of pastries. Honestly, the first bite of the beef noodle soup wasn't about a shocking new flavor, but a taste that instantly reminded me of home, like coming back after a long day to a bowl of piping hot beef noodles made by family. The cold sesame noodles are among the best I've ever had, with a sauce that perfectly captures authentic Taiwanese flavors. I highly recommend this restaurant, not just for the food, but because every bite feels like a warm hug from home.

The food was good but not crazy, I've had similar dishes that have hit harder but Liu's is still great! The french toast was INCREDIBLE though!! Street parking!

    Where can I find parking?

It's metered street parking or neighborhood parking. If you park in the neighborhood pay attention to signs.

Is it good for larger groups? (6-7)

I recall most the tables are small (2-3 people) and there's only one large table in the middle where they'd put multiple small parties. A large group may have to wait a long time. Your odds may be better if you're willing to split up.

When is the best time to go?

I think weekends is best right when opening or before noon

Do they have take out now?

    Yes

Hi do you also offer coffee?

We have hot drip brew and cold brew cans :)

    Do they have takeout?

Not yet! Takeout will be availble after grand opening!

Valet parking can get difficult when the lot gets full. A few cars entering the narrow driveway had to reverse out of the way to let others leave. The rice isn't great, like it's kind of dry, but its free so no complaints here.

This used to be one of my favorite Hong Kong-style cafes, but lately the food quality has gone…read moredownhill. My go-tos here are the kung pao chicken and the sweet and sour fish. The last few times I've ordered the kung pao chicken, it barely had any veggies. It used to come with a mix of colorful bell peppers, but now it's mostly onions. The sweet and sour fish used to be lightly battered and nice and meaty. On my last visit, it was heavily battered and you could barely taste the fish. I'm not sure if they changed chefs, but the difference in quality is definitely noticeable. It's disappointing because I really like the staff. They're always friendly and provide great service. I'm hoping the food goes back to how it used to be.
