Nice chat items and wonderful eggless cakes. They have some store made cookies and plum cakes as well. They added shwarmas to their menu recently. I took chicken biryani and chicken fried rice along with chicken 555. The chicken biryani has 2 large chicken pieces with mostly white and masala rice. I do not know what to call it. The chicken is bland and rice is bland. Skip it for all reasons. The chicken 555 has deep fried chicken in some spicy sauce. Skip it. Coming to fried rice, I have no words after eating it. First the quantity is huge compared to biryani. It has some sun dried chicken pieces which I have to put aside like curry leaves to eat the rice. It is not chicken fried rice but fried chicken rice. We went for the first time today to get cake and pastries. It is actually criminal that this shop is less than 4 stars on Yelp. I've had cake at so many places around Alpharetta, metro Atlanta, etc. and I am not exaggerating when I say this was the best I have had. Moist beyond belief, and the flavor was on point. We were all floored by how good it is, and it was only $3.50/slice when a lot of shops charge double that for an inferior product. We'll be back very soon to try more - including their savory menu! read more

This is probably the worst restaurant in Alpharetta area. I ordered a ghee dosa on 12/23, it came up soggy and tasted horrible. Infact chapati tastes better than this. I don't prefer wasting food so complained about it after having the food. To my surprise the chef said 'o ok'. Seriously!!! My husband had the chicken tikka dosa which too was equally bad, stuffing was literally'couple' of chicken cubes. I would not have accepted a refund but atleast they could have offered that, but no nothing, not even an apology. Pathetic experience, I wish was able to show the picture here. You guys need to watch youtube videos to learn to cook DOSA, if not shut down your restaurant before you go bankrupt for lack of customers. read more

Always see this place when eating at other places around in, decided to stop by just to see what kind of cakes they had. bad idea. I got 3 slices of what I thought would be three different flavors. They appeared to be tiramisu, cookies and cream, and chocolate layered. All three of them tasted the exact same taste of bland and more bland. Absolutely no flavor. At $3.50+ a slice go to the grocery store and get a box mix and it'll be michelin star quality compared to this place. I dare not try their food based on this and the other reviews on their food. read more

"A Confusing Tale of Chaat, Chocolate Cake and Corey Feldman" ...Otherwise known as Checking in at Cake World Bakery and Café. I am so confused. I have literally driven by Cake World Bakery and Cafe at least a hundred times and never stopped in. One time while eating at a restaurant next door, I looked in, saw an empty front case, and never thought about it again. For some reason, today I did. ( I must digress from the review to ask you, dear Yelper, to consider a question. What comes to mind when you hear the name Cake World Bakery and Cafe? Do you imagine a counter full of cakes, cupcakes, perhaps even scones or croissants? Do you imagine the smell of fresh baked goods, the aroma of espresso drinks being poured? Do you envision a friendly greeting by a matronly proprietress or an overly energetic barista? Please hold your image for a moment as I return to the review) I walked in and found myself inside a characterless, spartan fast food Indian restaurant featuring chaats, biryani, and pav bhaji pizza. Instead of coffee, it was a rush of Indian spices that filled Cake World. The barista I expected was instead replaced by three Indian twenty-somethings working together to manage the counter. Had I walked into the wrong door? Or had I found myself in the twilight zone? I am so confused. The menu is hung up in traditional Indian fast food style, where you need either a translator or personal experience to know the difference between Dahi Behl Chaat and Alu Papdi Chaat, or between or a Vada Pav or Pav Bhaji sandwich. Luckily I was Indian in a former life, so I manage very well in these situations. Having never known that I had an Indian fast food restaurant so close to my house, I know I must have had a very surprised look on my face, surpassed only by the surprised look of the employees, since I was the only customer who was not from India or Pakistan in Cake World this evening, or maybe this month. I quickly perused the menu boards. The bakery did include croissants, but these included paneer tika and channa masala croissants. Other baked goods included puffs, plaits, and Indian cookies. They had several sandwich options, from Vada Pav to wraps to Paninis. I was most excited to see the selection of Chaats, awesome Indian snack foods. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaat) They also offered three types of briyani; chicken, egg and vegetable. Individual sized Indian inspired pizza is also available. I usually have to go to Decatur or Global Mall to get this style of Indian food, so having it within walking distance from my pad is crazy! I ordered the Alu Papdi Chaat, which was made up of puris, potatoes, chickpeas, yogurt, tamarind, garlic, and a helluva lot of spices. It was fantastic and fresh. I also ordered Pav Bhaji, which is mashed vegetables served up next to a seasoned bun you fill up with the stuff. Awesome. I finished my meal and walked over to the front counter where I found CAKE of all things! I chose the Black Forest Cake. I took my first bite with some trepidation, still in my "Cake World Bakery and Cafe confusion" I didn't know what to expect. My first bite immediately led to my second, third and fourth. This was no ordinary cake. Not quite Black Forest, yet it had a taste that was strangely familiar. Confused again! Finally it came to me, Drake's Devil Dogs! I haven't had these since I was a kid, but there was no mistaking that Cake World must have found the original recipe and somehow turned it into a yummy cake! Now I'm really confused! During my dinner, and dessert, I had a chance to catch up on some Indian TV. For some reason, I don't get the Bollywood channels in my cable package. It's not often I get to see a soap opera that includes choreographed dancing and very bad fight scenes. I was particularly interested in this very attractive Indian actress, when another character appeared in a scene with her. He was Indian, but looked exactly like Corey Feldman. I live close to this place and never knew they sold food. decided to give it a try today glad I did the food was seasoned perfectly! my wife had the curry chix and I had the chili chix sandwich both were very good! I saw one review they mentioned the staff was rude the staff was very friendly to us. we did have a hard time understanding the employee due to their accent but that was not an issue. Something happened to this restaurant/cafe. Few days back I ordered chicken biryani and it was pretty awe full . It was so spicy to the extent that even myself who has some tolerance for spice was not able to tolerate it. Today I ordered chicken chili for myself and cheese pizza for my son. What a surprising name for a place that really doesnt focus on cakes or the world of wonderful confections. A friend suggested to go to cake world for lunch, and who am I to say no to a sugary, guilt laced lunch of cakes. When you walk in the front, cases have a few desserts in them, but the real treat is the Indian food that they serve. Wonderful and flavorful food served on paper plates. No fancy frills, but the food is delicious. This is really my go to togo place. Service is very friendly. Prices are super reasonable and a great variety of choices. Ordered a butter chicken to go, after waiting for my order I took it home and started to eat but was sad to find out it wasn't authentic butter chicken at all, just an orange curry. The naan was great and the place was very clean and nice looking, the service was attentive as well. Maybe I'll try the cake instead next time :) read more

Not sure where to start with. The place looks shady, doesnt seem to be clean. I could only imagine how cleaner it would be maintained inside. I could see food on the table and chairs. The staff working there are not friendly at all. They dont seem to be having customers. I was waiting for one of them to come by the counter but they kept roaming like they were busy, when it was only me and other person in the cafe. I ordered samosa chat, forget about the taste the food was not even warm. I would never visit here again. Also they dont accept cards unless you make 15$ on your bill. read more

I'm not experienced with Indian food nor Indian street food so what you're about to read is has no relative distinction to reading a flyer. Just... you know... fyi. ;-) /ATMOSPHERE Whoa, what? The chaat was akin to eating a frito pie... except more tart and definitely sweeter. It was good. The samisa was good. The puffs were fine too. If microwaving food puts you off, don't get it. The restaurant/cafe doesn't look good,the colors on the wall are kind of dark not really welcoming place. About the cake/pastries are really awesome and that's the only place where you can get eggless cakes which are not overly sweet. best flavor is pineapple cake. Being from Maharashtra miss eating Vada Pav,which you will find here,it's not as spicy but close. I like the samosa chat the best. And Chicken Biryani is good too. People who work here are nice. read more

They have really good cakes and pizza. Their pineapple cake is one of the best and perfect in sweetness. Price is also reasonable. For party sizes, they should try to create some mid size cakes as well. Their full size cakes are sometimes big for small parties. I have typically tried cakes on weekends most of the times. read more

This was my second time here in a month. Earlier it did not have a Yelp! profile to check-in so created one today and sent to Yelp! team for review. On an earlier occasion I had tried the Chicken Tikka wrap which was alright and was little too cold considering its a hot food. This time I was here to pickup a Black Forest birthday cake with a friend and decided to taste some of the popular Indian Chaat and ordered a spicy Sev Puri and Bhel Puri which were really delicious and true to the word it was really spicy and tasty. Since it was early evening I checked their beverage section and they had a steel container marked Madras coffee which I ordered with milk and sugar. Trust me this is definitely one of the authentic South Indian coffee you will get compared to most Indian restaurants who tout of originality in their coffee but which is nothing more than instant coffee. A definite must-try. Something I dislike with this place and with other that follow similar practice of enforcing a limit beyond which they will accept credit cards. They have a $10 minimum limit for using a credit card which I find disgusting, as it forces people to spend on food items they do not want; just to get the item they DO want using their credit cards. The staff has a kind of 'mind your own business' attitude with no friendliness and heavy accent, a bit aloof too; but not rude. Defintely need to work in the area of customer service. Overall a good place to savor tasty Indian Chaat and great Madras coffee. read more

They need to change the name there. The food was bland. The pizza is not good over there - they just heated up veggies on top of a bread with cheese, and my husband was not a fan of the veg puff since it doesn't have that much filling in there. I got a cake from cakeworld for my birthday...the decor was beautiful and delicate...but the icing was tasteless, and so was the cake. Betty Crocker packet cakes taste better than this. Tasted like slightly sweet foam. The Oreo cooking icing was like they used 2 oreos for the whole cake. Not decadent like a cake should be. Disappointed. read more

Came in here on a weekend evening and the employees just stared at us with the most unfriendly faces. Did not ask us if we needed help. They had a couple cakes in a case (all the same flavor), but for the name to be "Cake World" it was extremely underwhelming. I guess they sell food but cake is not their specialty. It definitely felt a bit off. We probably would have tried the cake if someone would have made us feel welcome, but we felt out of place and unwanted as customers. read more

I purchased a pineapple cake, for a birthday party at home. The taste was awful. There was something in it which was expired and that was put in it. I think it is the caned pineapple or something else. I would suggest everybody not purchase a Cake from cake world. We don't know when they made it and they keep it in the glass freezer in the front, god knows how many days it been there. read more

There's parking in the dedicated lot that wraps the building, but while eating there I got the impression that most of their business is takeout. I visited while in the area with my brother-in-low who used to live nearby - it's a classic no-frills pizza joint where you order at the counter and the food is made to order - I went with the stromboli option while my BIL went with a calzone and I must say that it was perfectly made in a classic NYC style (the ingredients are pretty specific with more spicy salami and a finer vegetable chop). In a word, delicious. The place is a bit divey like I wrote, no frills so don't expect china or cloth napkins, just decent food at a decent price. Service was about as minimal as you can get - friendly but for the most part you have to ask for anything that's not already at the table or found near the napkins/forks. I'll be going back.
