Colette is a quaint and quiet coffee shop located around the side/back of Sabri Guven Fine Jewelry store. They offer plenty of homemade pastries and mini artistic cakes and crepes on the weekend. We came in for a quick coffee/hot chocolate run midday so it was not busy at all. I assume they handmade the hot chocolates since it took them a while - and it was nice and rich. My only complaint is that it only filled up to about 3/4 of the cup (which isn't much), otherwise it was very good! Seems like a decent place to get work done, but it has the potential to get a little noisy if there's a lot of people. read more

I get so happy whenever I visit a place from my bookmarks so guess my mood when my bookclub also chose it for our meeting :D It's a beautiful little pastry shop that also serves crepes, brunch and drinks. To one side is an assortment of yummy pastries, cakes and all kinds of sweet treats. And to the other side is a gorgeous-looking antique bookshelf that extends all the way to the back. Guess which side I picked first- books of course!! One whiff and I was hooked to them. The lovely bookseller Joshua walked me through the collection and explained about them very well. I was too tempted to sit and read before realization kicked in that I had a bookclub meeting to get to lol. I bid my sad farewell and went back to my buddies. In between the meeting, I checked out the amazing lineup of pastries and picked a delicious looking Nutella roll. I was initially eyeing the eclair but settled for the roll. Crepe station was closed but I made a mental note to come back and check it out. My Nutella roll was very flaky and tasted good. My friends got different drinks and they all loved them. A bit pricey overall for my liking but definitely good for occasional visits. Seating area is a bit limited so I wonder how they'd manage if too many people dine in. Cute cafe with lots of patisserie! I like that they provided options for a mini or regular sized almond croissant. I got the mini to fill my craving. Crispy on the outside and nice soft layers inside with the right amount of filling. Wished it was warmed - they said they were going to warm it but it felt like room temp to me when I got it. Got a slice of chocolate cake as well - lots of stuff going on in there - rich and delicious! A bit pricey at $9 after tax though. Definitely coming back to try other items! read more

We got the Exotic cake to celebrate at a friend's birthday dinner. While the cake tasted good, it looked plain. No birthday plaque (even though they said they're going to include it) or any kind writing on the cake. So that was a disappointment to be charged $80+ for a plain cake and a pastry. I didn't realized it until it was cake cutting time as the box was tied shut. It was quite embarrassing. Consider yourself be warned. So glad I stumbled upon Colette French Pastry Cafe when visiting Alpharetta. We needed a caffeine fix, and a French bakery is generally a good bet for a decent treat to go along with it. The interior is very cozy with French (and more specifically Paris) theming and decor. They have one side with shelves of books that had a nice library type feel to it. The French music is a lovely touch as it let us escape to Paris for at least a little while as we enjoyed our drinks. They offer a French breakfast and even have Orangina on offer which is one of the more typical drink offerings you'll find at cafes in France. For drinks, we ordered a latte and a mocha...both were a solid 4.5/5, being strong, smooth, and robust, without being too sweet. It's recommended to get there early as they do run out of pastry and bakery items later in the morning. They had run out of the chocolate croissant we wanted to try, so we wound up going with the carrot cake (4/5). It wasn't as moist as I generally like carrot cake to be, but it was typical of European baking style, and I liked that it wasn't too sugary. The employees were all very engaging and friendly. Since Yelp doesn't allow half stars, I don't mind rounding up from 4.5 for my rating since we really enjoyed the ambiance and overall experience. read more

Always love to come here for a quick bit of sweet. This time came for a whole cake for hubby's birthday. We got the Plaisir - which is the creme brûlée, vanilla cream cheese cake. Don't get scared if you don't like cheese, you will love this. Light and fluffy, with the touch of caramel brûlée on top, love it! Love it love it! Well since we were there, my kiddo can't resist to satisfy their sweet tooth. Lemon mousse in a bubble cube form just makes you hold your fork and look at it for a while. Again their mousse is as light as cloud, with lemon flavor. Fall season can't resist anything pumpkin! Glossy candy pumpkin cake has some cranberry jam (if I didn't remember wrong) in the center. Colette is a cute, little French pastry shop near Downtown Alpharetta. It was fairly quiet inside the shop on a weekday afternoon with only myself waiting to order and several attendants behind the counter, but unfortunately I wasn't greeted. The ambience left much to be desired as there was stone cold silence not conducive for dining in--atleast they could play some French music. The display cases were beautifully presented with a wonderous array of colors and assorted pastries. The pastries primarily consisted of tarts, mousses, and macaroons. I opted for a vanilla macaroon $2.25 and the heart shaped mousse $6.75. The desserts are very expensive for the portion so I had high hopes for the taste. As soon as I bit into the macaroon, it tasted of cardboard and food coloring? I'm glad I didn't purchase more because it wasn't worth it. The heart mousse was beautifully decorated and tasted delicious, in contrast with the macaroon. Overall, beautiful presentation, high prices, and the flavors are hit or miss depending on the pastry you choose. read more

Came here for lunch mid workday. The cafe is cute and the case of pastries is impressive! I decided to go for crepes, one savory and one sweet. It was definitely way too much food and i regretted finishing it, but it was delicious! It's so sad how far this place has fallen. Under the new management the service is godawful and they seem not to even care about it. Even more audacious is the fact that they've removed all pricing from their menu and pastry cases. Can we just name any price we want? No? Oh they care about what the price is, but we aren't supposed to? Please. If they're going to be that pretentious they should at least have most of their menu items available by 90 minutes after opening. I finally got my fourth choice, and waited interminably at a dirty table where apparently two parties had sad, the latter evidently with dirty dishes, before I did. Eventually they cleaned the table and brought my café crème, which was served as a brimming cup of burnt coffee with a pitcher of cream that I couldn't pour into the over-filled cup. I had to gingerly pour the coffee into the pitcher and then add it back. A while later I got a decent crepe (at least not as thick as most places, but a bit doughy and lacking crispy edges) with serviceable ham and cheese filling ($15, served with a few mixed lettuce leaves and a single cherry tomato, since the menu won't let you know). I won't be back anytime soon. Douceur has gone down a bit, but Bonnin's in Kennesaw is outstanding, and this place is just insufferable. read more

This is hands down my favorite bakery in the area. It's a true authentic French bakery serving French pastries and food. It brings me back to France again. Everything is made fresh and you can taste the quality. They have a great selection of baked goods, drinks and dishes to satisfy any craving. My favorites are the baguettes, ham and cheese sandwich, the almond and chocolate croissant. My kids love the macarons. The coffee and drinks are great too. There is plenty of seating. Two of the best pastries I've ever had! It's hard to find a true French pastry shop in Georgia, but Colette's NAILS It! The first was a basic breakfast pastry with cream cheese and cherry topping...the whole thing was delicious but the pastry part was melt in your mouth to die for. The second, called a Valentino, was a dark chocolate mousse with coconut sponge cake and creamy raspberry . They were pleasantly sweet but not too much... I've come here a number of times for lunch and loved it! There's a constant flow of people coming in ordering pastries and lunch. It gets crowded quickly so we come in the late afternoon. They have both indoor and outdoor seating to choose from. I've ordered the Cordon Bleu sandwich and the Turkey and Bacon Sandwich. Both were very tasty with a delicious roasted tomato spread. I'm not a huge fan of the bacon in the Turkey sandwich so I take it out. The Cordon Bleu includes chicken and ham and cheese. It's delicious! I do wish there was more meat per sandwich but I still enjoy it. Sandwiches are a bit over $10 each and include a little salad to enjoy. I look forward to coming back again! read more

Stopped here on a whim on our way out of Alpharetta...can't believe we almost missed this gem! Tucked behind the corner of a lovely business strip, this French Patisserie is brimming with gorgeous pastries! We each had an eclair, one chocolate, one vanilla. Then he had a hazelnut Danish while I chose the pain de Jambon. We finished with a mousse pastry who's name I cannot recall. Everything was delicious and filling. PARKING Colette French Pastries is on the right end of a plaza and shares a public parking lot with the other adjacent businesses. There's always an available, free space. II. SERVICE Kind & accommodating. They'll package your to-go orders for you and serve your dine-in orders on cute glassware. They even heated up my croissant, which was nice. I liked that they offered milk alternatives, here; however, you'll notice they don't offer syrup flavors for the coffee (i.e. vanilla). I like to think this helps customers to indulge in the full flavors of the pastries when paired with the coffee. III. QUALITY Fresh..! The croissant was fluffy. The macarons melt in your mouth. I used to love this place so much. True authentic Parisienne food. Salad with lemon and olive oil, less sugary desserts and amazing quiches. The fresh and simple ingredients made these dishes devine. But...The thing about American food is that we overdo it. Too much salt, sugary pastries and frankly we overcomplicate ingredients, perhaps to hide the lack of freshness. It had been awhile since we had been to Collette's and when my husband and I went last weekend, we noticed a distinct difference in the food. It's become Americanized. I could hardly eat the quiche it was so over salted, the salad dressing seemed like a store bought balsamic, the baked goods looked overcooked and my husbands sandwich was meh. Sadly, this was not a meal we enjoyed and all the things we loved about Collette's in the past were not the same. This is another run of the mill America cafe doing French food poorly. I hate it for this place - it was so special and I hope they can find a way to return to the same authentic cooking there once was. read more

There was suprisingly an incredible historic book selection (some hundreds of years old!). But now that it's been sold to a different person, the recipes are not the same and that once incredibly authentic French patisserie taste is gone. If you had been here before, you would know about the almond croissants which had such a soft almond taste with no trace of artificial flavoring. Now, the almond croissants taste so strongly of artificial almond extract and are way too sweet....it's so unfortunate.
