I wish I could give Sindu the owner of Westford Bakery a glowing review, but I simply can't. First…read moreof all, her attitude is terrible. I have experienced this at her stall during the Westford Rosenbush Community Center Farmer's Market as well as a paying client for my daughter's birthday. She seems very grumpy when speaking to her in person, however I noticed she is nice to certain people. But, her lychee cupcakes are good so I gave her the benefit of the doubt since she has skill. The cupcakes I tried at the market had a lychee on top of the cupcake and were $4. For my daughter's birthday, I ordered $96 worth of cupcakes, which is a size-able order in this economy. I attached my order as a picture to this review. I'm not at all embarrassed to do so. I hope the owner sees this and improves. I asked her in advance if she had individual packaging for mini cupcakes because otherwise I could provide it. She took awhile to respond and I had to check in for which she responded she did have the packaging. So, ok great, I thought. I can relax on the dessert front and continue to plan the rest of the party. When it came to picking up the cupcakes, she did not send me a message in advance for when to come. So, I reached out obviously and asked if I could come at 8 am since the party was at 10 am and I needed to pack the mini cupcakes in gift bags. She did not respond, so I had to call her to confirm because I didn't want to show up at her house and have the order not ready. When I called her, she gave me attitude and asked if I could come later. No, I cannot come later because I need the cupcakes for part of the children's favor gifts. "Fine," she says. And I move on, annoyed but giving her the benefit of the doubt because I have owned a home bakery business during COVID times. I know how busy it gets and how stressful it can be. Well, when pick up the cupcake order, I am annoyed. Why aren't there lychees on the lychee cupcakes, which were bare...just cupcake and frosting. And also, the mini cupcakes which were suppose to be a gift for the kids, were kept upside down in dipping cups (the kind you get at a pizzeria to store red chilli flakes). Honestly, I would have still been ok with the packaging if they were flipped right side up and LABELED. These are for children, which I explained multiple times- you can't give unlabeled cupcakes without even a business label to a customer. That is just extremely unprofessional. Also, I have seen on her Instagram account that she does decorate cupcakes. So, I feel like she just makes baked goods the way she wants to for whoever she wants to or you have to catch her on a less busy day. My daughter's birthday was at the end of October. I put my order in way ahead of time (2 months ahead) at the end of August. She should be ashamed of herself. But she gets 3 stars because it all tasted good. Some comments I received were that the guava cupcake was way too sweet and the mango lassi cupcake tasted like pumpkin. Everyone enjoyed the lychee cupcake.

We ended up wanting the cake earlier than ordered, and Sindhu was able to move up the date for us at the last minute. Pick up was easy too! I would absolutely order from Sindhu again.

I came across Love + Flour's booth at Snowport in Boston, so this review is for their baked goods…read moreand not the physical location. But now that I know they're in Salem, I'll be visiting very soon! The macarons were front and center in the booth, and I kept goggling at how beautiful they were. They are slightly larger macarons with generous fillings and bejeweled shells ($3.75 each). I asked the person manning the booth what her favorites were (sugar cookie and cookie dough), but I still had trouble deciding which to try, there were so many unique flavors. She was very helpful though. Macarons are generally gluten free, but some flavors had cookie or cake crumbs and were labeled as containing gluten (fyi all served in the same case). These macarons were certainly not dairy free, but I decided to try them anyways; they were way too tempting. The Tall Man and I ended up getting a guava and a gingerbread macaron. His dad got a pistachio and a cosmic brownie (typical brownie vs the peppermint version). If I had known he was going to get some, it would have made more sense to get a half dozen. Macarons aren't cheap cookies, but they were certainly worth it. The guava was the plainest in appearance and taste. It wasn't decorated, and only the shell was flavored not the cream; it was too subtle and could have used a jam. The gingerbread was my favorite of our choices, spicy and not overly sweet with a nice textural crunch with the mini gingerbread sprinkles. The cosmic brownie had fun chunky sprinkles and a very fudgy texture, which was more brownie than macaron like (probably intentionally), but the taste was like a typical brownie so I would get something different next time. I didn't get to try the pistachio, but my father in law enjoyed it, and he doesn't even like cookies. Everything on display was beautifully fun to look at. I was also intrigued by their hot chocolate bombs and cake jars, but more as eye candy since they were full of gluten and dairy (but would make for great gifts!).
