We waited in line (behind 4 people) at the outside window. When it was our turn to finally place our order, the worked looked at us and said the outdoor window was closing and we would have to go inside.- Which meant getting at the end of the inside line behind about 6 other people. At this point there was no one else behind us in line- I don't get why she couldn't take our order and close after us. Even if there was a problem- we already waited in line- so to make us get at the end of a long line indoors is rude and inconsiderate. Doesn't make me feel like they appreciated me as a customer. Fun ice cream shop with many unique flavors. Each customer can try two flavors. I tried the pistachio baklava and wild blueberry and went with a two scoop small with the wild blueberry pie and vanilla. The blueberry has lots of nice chunks of graham crust, and the vanilla is authentic with Madagascar pure vanilla. I enjoyed the blueberry vanilla combo! The small is enough for the average person. My friend got the ube purple haze coconut based ice cream with the cookies and cream coconut base. I tried a taste of the purple haze and really enjoyed it. Not too sweet with chunks of chocolate hazelnut pieces. The vegan flavors are very coconut forward so if you love coconut the vegan flavors are the way to go! Holy Cow in Burlington has my whole dessert heart! The first time I came on last Thursday, that waffle bowl with ice cream changed my life so much that I went raving to my husband. Fast forward, from my house it's 35 to 40 minutes back (depending on traffic) on a Friday. I needed my husband to taste this joy!! And then... no cone or waffle bowl batter when we got to register. None. Zero. My excitement dropped faster than a melting scoop in July. I had the Raspberry gooey butter cake in a cup , which was delicious, but that waffle bowl was the reason for the road trip. Cold brew Oreo, pistachio baklava, "corner piece" (featuring only corner-piece brownies)... there were like 25 flavors on the wall and they all sounded great. After being a regular at their Northshore locations, I was so happy to see another location open up! From their original homemade icecream flavors, to the made to order waffle cones, this place does it right. They have many award winning flavors which I definitely recommend trying, especially Ritzy AF. Flavors also rotate so you can try something new each time. Prices are a little high but for the quality I'd say it's worth it. You also can't beat the experience of a fresh waffle cone with a sweet surprise at the bottom! I was in the area for work for a couple of days. Holy Cow ice cream is walking distance from where I stayed definitely worth checking out even if the weather is 37 degrees and raining outside. The storefront is fairly shallow with just the counter to order at and short table by the window next to the pint freezer. You can pick two flavors with a small size and with a wide selection of flavors, you can't really go wrong. I tried the Boston Blackout (a tar black mix of cocoa ganache and layer cake) and Pistachio Baklava (pistachio ice cream with toffee and phyllo dough) which were both 10/10. My last day of the trip I got the "Xtra Xtra" Coffee (the only flavor I found lacking, I was hoping for something more potent) and the Ritzy AF (butter cracker ice cream with cracker toffee which more than made up for the shortcomings of the coffee one). I do look forward to coming back here to try more flavors on future work trips! read more

I had a great first experience at Holy Cow. As someone who's lactose intolerant, I really appreciated that they had options I could enjoy without worrying. I'm hoping they continue to expand their lactose‑free and dairy‑free choices because the ones they have now are a good start. Arianna greeted me as soon as I walked in, and she was so friendly and welcoming. The whole staff made the visit feel easy, and the shop was very clean, which I always pay attention to. Great ice cream with local ingredients, such as carrot cake from the bakery next door. It seems as though everything is homemade, including the baked goods in the ice cream, and you can even watch them making the waffle cones. Limited indoor seating, but accessible outdoor seating in a nice area. They have an indoor counter and a window outdoors. There was no line at either when we went. The service was pleasant but not remarkable. More disappointing was the small serving size compared to the average ice cream shop, but I suppose all of our servings in America should be smaller than the average. Prices were on par with the typical shop in the area despite the smaller portion, however, you do -- and should -- pay for freshness and good ingredients. I ended up getting their peanut butter ice cream which -- like the service -- was good but not remarkable. Another member of my party tried the Ritzy AF which was better. But I do make ice cream at home, so maybe I'm spoiled. That said, their vegan Coconut Oreo was fabulous as far as vegan ice cream goes, I was very impressed but its creamy consistency and flavor.
