They are courteous, detail oriented, always on-time and extremely knowleable about manufactured homes. We talk about the project ( and there have beem numerous) and the are always honest in telling what can and cannot be done. They give me viable, cost-effective solutions. They have replaced my roof, done electrical, foundation upgrade/repairs, plumbing, and porch rebuild. After the timely completion of each project, I usually get their suggestions on my next requests to help me prioritize. The estimates are detailed and thoroughly explained, work is done in a timely manner, they maintain a clean, safe work environment and the follow-up is scheduled within a 30-60 day time frame. About 1 1/2 years ago I hired Cal Star to make some electrical repairs. I went with them since they specialize in mobile homes, though the price was high. Since the initial work was completed they had to come back a couple of times within the first year to correct/fix issues related to the initial work done. This was done at no additional charge. I had the electrician come out again the other week due to a similar electrical issue (non working outlets/lights). Robert spent around 1 hour "looking into the problem". Then he said he could not find the source and would have to come back. He talked to the office and they said it would be $2200 to find the source of the problem and repair it. So I had another electrician come out. This electrician found the problem in about 15 minutes (loose connection at one outlet which Robert had also looked at) and was charged for a standard service call. Hiring people for home repairs is a relatively new experience for me. Buyer beware. Cal Star will "create" a problem to solve just to line their pockets. Not the kind of people I want to do business with. read more

I am a mobile/manufactured Home owner. I needed new stairs built to my back door and front door. Peter, Project Manager, came out and helped me design steps with a lower rise and deeper steps. I wanted a sturdy handrail on the back steps, also. Two carpenters came out a couple days later and built/carpeted the steps in a couple days. They looked beautiful. They were professional, polite and friendly. They did a beautiful job and cleaned up the work spaces thoroughly. I was very pleased with whole process. Since they did such a great job and were great people I asked them to do another project. I wanted new windows installed in the front of the house and our house painted. Peter set up the people get the work done. Again all were professional, friendly and did a great job. The house looks fantastic! Cal Star was recommended to us by a neighbor. Could not be more pleased! Peter came out and inspected underneath our double wide home and sat down with us and in detail, with pictures, explained what was wrong and what was needed. Gave us an estimate of repairs, and the following week 1 of his men came and did all the work, by himself, in a few hours. Before the repair, our front door was sticking, like the frames were swollen, but they weren't. He said it was from our house being slightly unlevel. Once the repairs were done, we still had trouble with the door. Peter himself came out to take a look and suggested a cause - the hinges. Peter, on his own, went to Ace Hardware and Home Depot to find the hinges and brought them back and replaced the top one. Perfect fix!! Before, leaving he said he personally would come out and do the 1 month inspection on the original work. At the time of the 1 month inspection, Peter found the original work was done as expected, but also found an HVAC leak. Since we hadn't had our system serviced yet, he recommended a full service to include repairing leak. Again, he gave us a quote with details, and we scheduled it the following week. Quotes were very reasonable and affordable. We highly recommend them. They get 10 stars out of 5! read more

The guy who installed our door, went above and beyond. That Matt deserves 5 stars. Matt in the office, however, and David misled us on what needed to be done and we ultimately paid $2200 for a front door and installation. The door alone costs $700. To add salt to the wound, simple math escaped the lady who charged us and we had to have that corrected after going rounds on the phone. The left hand does not know what the right hand is doing and they clearly do not care about their customers. Very disappointed. Hindsight is 20/20. Never again!! read more

They perform the work which they do amazing but their problem is after the work is done they try to scam you into having more work done. They will contact with trying to say they want to come out and inspect their job and give you a warranty which they never do they just try to tell you that you need more work done by them. Don't trust. Even after you tell them that you are not satisfied with the way they treat you after the job is done they will still try to contact you months later still saying they want to come and inspect the work for your warranty that you don't need from them. I would never use this company again!! We were going to have more work done by them but after the way they treat you when they finish a job we wouldn't allow them anywhere near my house again. read more

No clue as to the quality of their work but I can say they are definitely in the business of making money. Although I will not change the stars and original review of this company, I will say at least someone reached out to get my reason for the low rating. At least they care enough to make an attempt. Unfortunately, the lousy feeling of a salesman attempting to take advantage will long outlast whatever good intentions the company had while trying to smooth things over. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. We bought a mobile home in Palm Desert that needed some levelling, plumbing, and electrical work done per the home inspection report. I gave a copy of the report to Will, (part owner of the company). I told him we wanted all the work done by one company, so we didn't have to deal with so many people. He wrote up a contract verbally dealing with all the issues, I thought, until I started reviewing the contract. I made numerous attempts to nail down those issues that were in the home inspection report and he circumvented them by saying he would take care of them. The issues were as follows: Levelling: He did the job as good as he could due to age of home, he said. The house is still not level. New plumbing: He completed the job as per the contract. Electrical: Here was the big issue. There were exposed live wires hanging down under the home that were shown in the home inspection report. He covered those over with vapor barrier. There were switches in the home that were not identified as per his contract. He made excuses that were not true because I hired a licensed electrician to repair the issues that took 10 minuets. There were shorts in half the house that tripped a circuit breaker. I had to hire a licensed electrician to replace the panel. The Calstar electrical worker that did the work was not licensed. We paid a downpayment to start the work with a credit card. (DON'T EVER DO THIS WITH THIS COMPANY) When it came time to address the issues, they put the rest of the payment on the credit card without our approval. Someone came out later to check on the work done and I said "No, we want nothing to do with your company again. read more

My mom had a flood in her home and I didn't think we were ever going to find a reliable company to hire. My Mom is a senior and is very hard to please. But to our delight my mom LOVED Cal Star. She especially enjoyed the handsome young men that did her work. She had to have her laminate floor replaced and foundation work done under her home. The price was in her budget and you can't tell there was ever any damage. It looks beautiful. The staff at Cal Star were helpful and pleasant every time we called. I'm sad to report that my second encounter with Cal Star was not good. Trouble with my electricity initiated an appointment with Cal Sar Construction. I received a quote that was several thousand dollars to rewire the home "because the wrong wiring material aluminum & copper was used originally. I gave Cal Star a $600 deposit. The supply pole was determined to be the source of the electrical problems by the park's electrician. The park agreed to upgrade the supply pole. Cal Star representative NEVER even looked at the electrical supply pole at any time. I called Cal Star to inform them that the park was responsible for the repairs to the electrical supply pole. I asked Cal Star to cancel the contract & I requested that they return my deposit. I was reminded by the owner that I signed a contract & deposits are not returned after a contract has been signed. I reminded the owner that Cal Star never even inspected the supply pole. No deposit was returned. Doing the right thing Is the best way to ensure a happy customer. read more

A year ago i had Cal Star come out and level my mobilehome. I was very happy with the company already, So when Peter did a follow call i was so relieved because i had been written up by the county because the skirting on my mobilehome needed more ventilation. I had tried to fix it myself but it was just too much for me to try and fix. So Peter saved the day! He came out and inspected the mh. And my kitchen faucet had been leaking causing my mh to sink in the front. Peter was so nice and professional. He haf the workers come out and relevel my entire mh. Then had the guys put new skirting up all around the whole mh with venting He gave me a great price and i cant believe how fast and how nice it looks. I love it. My neighbors really love it the park management loves it and i havent heard from the county inspector so he must love it too! Peter got the job done bwfore ai could get in trouble and from now on i will only deal with Peter and Cal Star for all my mh needs. Dont waste your money on a unlicensed handyman who over promises and under delievers. Call Peter at Cal Star if you want it done right. I have a good friend that recommended them my friend knows them really well from the Corvette club I had a Rain gutter company set up to do the work but decided to cancel with them and go with friends knowing friends I got to know the guy that gave Me the quote and I know it was pretty high but I had more work than I wanted them to do inside and out they needed the work right away because they were having a standing around not working so they want to do it the next day so I let them do 60 feet of gutter one downspout and a real level of the mobile home and they did it in 3 to 4 hours and my gutters leak at every joint they don't drain the cut up my mobile column and they didn't even need to and They came out to check the work and they are or he was I should say an arrogant a hole said I was full of you know what read more
