Dinner on a Thursday evening in Mount Juliet. We came and tried Calabria's. My wife had been here but I have not. We had the garlic knots, wood fired buffalo wings and a pepperoni pizza. Nothing fancy tonight. Garlic knots were good. Just the right amount of butter and garlic and crisp to it. Buffalo wings were a mix of well cooked and overcooked/charred. They were good but a bit overdone. Pizza was a very thin crust, but we like it that way. Unfortunately the crust was also very charred. Not typical brick oven char, but much heavier. My wife could not eat it. She said it must be "an acquired taste". I believe they may just need to clean their brick oven. Restaurant has cute decor and ambience. Not very crowded either with the amazing weather we are having. If you are a brick oven connoisseur this may be the place for you, probably not a restaurant we will frequent in the future. read more

Used to be one of my favorite pizza places. Then they changed their menu. I won't be returning.

We've been coming here for years and it has been consistently good. Until today. G and I each ordered a calzone that was supposed to come with ricotta and mozzarella. The mozzarella was grated (some didn't melt during cooking) and while that was fine, the ricotta was like a cream sauce. Not that there was much of it, but it didn't look like grandma's ricotta and certainly didn't taste like ricotta. Service was good and it was nice to sit outdoors, now that first summer has given way to first fall. While I would like the pleasant weather to last, I'm hoping this was just an off experience. read more

Food and service was very good. Is it just me or do others think it's pricy? Three of us went for lunch on a Monday. We had two drinks, a draft beer, one bruschetta appetizer, one chicken wings appetizer, 1 large meat lovers pizza, 1 small pepperoni pizza, and one desert. It was over $100 without a tip. Back again for more...usually delicious pizza, knots and garlic Parmesan wings. Guess they were a little off today. The garlic Parmesan wing sauce is usually phenomenal but this time a little tart and acidic. Seemed like not enough garlic and Parmesan. We never leave any sauce behind but not this time. The garlic knots were not dressed enough. Bread was just right. Our pizza was good except for the procuitto was sour and smelled sour too on the capriccosia pizza. Then to top it off they got the size wrong on our friends pizza ordered 16 inch and received a 12 inch. They did bring them the correct size. Hopefully, this is just a one time poor experience. Unusual for so many issues. If I wasn't a regular then I probably wouldn't give them a second chance. Plus, the staff didn't really seem all too concerned. Probably the best pizza I have had since moving to TN. I started with a glass of Pinot Grigio and a Caesar salad. Both were delicious- I could have eaten that salad all day. The dressing was amazing. Then I ordered the Bianca Pizza... ricotta cheese. Mozzarella. Cheese, cheese, cheesy cheese and I added prosciutto- the crust was cooked perfectly - it came out pipping hot and was so yummy. Ended the dinner with a pistachio cannoli and it was very good but needs way more chocolate chips for sure. I recommend this place and cannot wait to go back!! read more

But if you go on a Saturday night and you ask the the hostess if she'll sit you someplace else just be aware she will punish you by sitting you near the kitchen and a table full of kids making lots of noise. Visited on a Friday evening. We were told it would be a 20 minute wait but we were seated in about 10 minutes. Now, Calabria Pizzeria is not a fancy place, but what they do well they do very well. We started by sharing a Caesar salad. The waitress kindly brought us an extra bowl to make sharing easier. The salad was a good size and the dressing was tasty. Wings were a good size with great flavors (they offer garlic Parmesan and buffalo, and we tried both). My husband loves wings, and these are some of the best we have had. There are many pizza offerings, and I like that you can choose to do a half and half. We tried the Italian meat on one half and the Capricosa on the other half. Both were great. I loved the fresh tomato sauce, and the brick oven pizza gave the crust a great flavor without being too dark. The fresh basil leaves on top were so delicious! This was some of the best pizza we have found in the area, and I will happily look forward to my next slice. read more

Unpopular opinion... the pizza is just ok. Service is good, very friendly server and staff. The garlic knots are the things that really shine. But the pizza... this is supposed to be an Italian trained chef specializing in Neapolitan type pizza. The crust is supposed to be light and airy, with a huge bubbly edge. Soft yet crunchy. This dough looked to be over proofed because it had no bubbles. It was dense like a NY style pizza. My guess is that since we're in TN, the style is meant to be just like everywhere else that serves "pizza" but this is supposed to be different, unique, Neapolitan style! After a few slices I felt full and bloated. A Neapolitan style should not leave me feeling bloated, that tells me that the dough was not fermented properly. We love the atmosphere here, and Calabria has some potential, but not if the pizza is just like everywhere else around town. We'll come back some day in hopes for an improvement! read more
