Be careful when u visit this clinic, don't take their bad suggestions, do ur research before visit. That's crazy, because the clinic is supposed to tell u what is problem. But that is what happen when the main goal of a clinic is just $$$, not the pet's health or customer's experience. If u don't want those troubles, just avoid this place, period. read more

I rarely give one-star reviews. Just like the many many other Yelp reviews say, ***DO NOT*** be fooled by the high ratings!! You'll notice that most of the high ratings are from literal years ago. I took my newly adopted cat here since she had a cough and was recovering from an upper respiratory infection she got from the shelter. According to her past medical history, vets have written that she is friendly and well-handled. Which brings me to my first point: the vet tech failed to get her rectal temperature which I felt like was the bare minimum considering she was handling the overall vet process quite calmly. They said they would "take her to the back" to get her temperature later, but they ended up forgetting. Later, when Dr. Bajwa came in, he rushed the entire process and was dismissive which didn't make me feel comfortable to bring up all the health concerns I had for my cat. He listened to her heartbeat, left to check her medical history, and came back with a vaccine in his hand and was about to inject her before even telling me what the vaccine was and if he had my permission to do so. I had to quickly stop him and ask what it was and then when he told me it was one of the boosters she needed, I had to tell him that she already received her doses. He asked how old she was, and when I told him her age, he said "oh you're right, this vaccine is optional then." I was just baffled at him coming in to inject her right away without even explaining first. I told him that her past medical records indicated an upper respiratory infection, and he prescribed Clavamox for her (overpriced) based on what I told him and his minimal examination of just listening to her heartbeat. A patient should not be experiencing this feeling where they feel like they need to question the vet's motives and even having to interject before a medical procedure is done. The instructions for aftercare I received from the vet tech was also vague and unclear. Ideally I would have liked to get medical notes indicating any diagnoses and/or any observations. Please be wary coming here! I wanted to give this place the benefit of the doubt despite already seeing poor reviews, but they failed me. The antibiotics they prescribed my cat with were supposed to be taken for a week, and it's been 10 days and it did not work, so I'm thinking that she might have been misdiagnosed as well. read more

We came in looking for a new vet after getting a new Kitten. We tried out this vet clinic because of its highest Yelp rates in the area. But now we wish we never went. After providing the Vet our kittens medical history, he began to ask questions that could have been easily answered from looking at her medical history forms. To which, the Vet admitted he did not look at prior to our appointment. He also made us wait 20 minutes before seeing us. He took a feel of her body and checked her heartbeat, but he never offered for a blood test to check her stats. Like a good salesman, he was selling us extra things to provide our cat. We only came for a check up, 2 kitten shots, and a few questions about her recently developing chin acne. Price was decent for check up, but we didn't feel the love and care we used to from our previous vet who retired. It just felt like we were being rushed. Why cut corners for a possible new client and check up procedures? A few days later, we found our cat was INFESTED with fleas from being at their center. The poor thing had probably 50+ freshly hatched fleas over her entire body. After three flea baths, flea medicine, and sanitizing our whole home, we are exhausted and our kitten traumatized. At the time of apt when we arrived someone came out to ask the my name, per's name, # but no apt or record found in system. The vet communicated very little information to me during the entire diagnostic process. It was like pulling teeth to get the vet to explain results. I was disappointed when their office lied about medication being a Rx only, when in fact it was OTC. PRO-TIP: Google the medication they want to sell you, I -guarantee- you will find it for 1/2 the price from a local reputable seller. BONUS: I was even able to pick it up the same day for my doggo :) Their office never responded to my follow-up e-mail nor returned my follow-up phone call, until I physically showed up at their doorstep. 1 star for their front desk staff for being super friendly and courteous! UPDATE: Me and my doggo ended up seeing another vet, who was able to make a successful diagnosis and render treatment that cost 1/2 the cost of what this office wanted to charge. Edit: Dr. Bajwa called me to offer his apologies and explain the charges on my invoice. I'm not convinced there's potential for maintaining the long-term relationship I had with Dr. Anderson but I appreciate him taking responsibility for his staff and his clinic. My advice to those of you looking for a vet with whom you and your pets can build a long term relationship is to keep looking. Don't be deceived by the overall 4-1/2 star average. If you look through the reviews, you'll notice the vast majority of positive reviews are all for Dr. Anderson and that the negative reviews nearly all include statements like: "we've been going here a long time but...," "Dr. Anderson is amazing but...," "not the same since Dr. Anderson sold the practice..." I had my beloved cat euthanized earlier this week and was charged more than $300, which included a charge from the pet cemetery for cremation and a country burial. Cremation and country burial, if you don't know, is the least expensive option. I called the clinic and asked if I had been overcharged since the description on the invoice was for a canine 50 lbs or less. They told me it was the same charge as for a cat who weighed less than 8 lbs. I pointed out the cost was more than double from what I paid last year, but they told me they were merely passing along the cost they were charged. I called the memorial park directly and was told they have no control over what I paid the vet's office but indicated they had not raised their rates to warrant the $115 fee I was charged. I checked with a couple other clinics in the area and it seems that no one charges as much as Calaveras Veterinary Clinic. Way to stick it to the grieving pet owner, CVC. I am not going to get nostalgic and tell everyone how great the clinic was when it was under different management and that Dr. Greg Anderson was *the* best vet I have ever had care for my pets. Nor am I going compare the previous staff that was kind, compassionate, efficient and professional to the current staff that, on the day of my cat's death, couldn't be bothered to say sorry for your loss. read more

This review is for my experience with Dr. Anderson. Dr. Anderson has been taking care of our family's pets for years now and has been consistently top notch. He has been there for the life of our family pets such as our miniature schnauzer and other cats my parents have owned. On Tuesday I brought in our kitten, Spots, who has been progressively getting worse over the last few months. Spots was a rescue, my husband found a litter of kittens back in July and we have been caring for them since. Spots started losing his mobility in his back legs, had head tremors, and incontinence. I originally set an appointment up the first week of December when things started escalating after Thanksgiving, but over the weekend before his appointment he got significantly worse and my husband wanted to bring him to the emergency vet for treatment on the Saturday prior to the appointment. We took him to Tama Vet who was able to get us in. Spent over 700 dollars in tests and had no answers as to what was causing it. We were given antibiotics and I set up an appointment with Dr. Anderson to get a second opinion, already suspecting the worse. Well, Tuesday came. I brought all the lab work and Dr. Anderson gave him a thorough exam and discussed the lab work in depth. After reviewing the options, most of all pointing to the worse, we made the difficult decision of euthanasia. I appreciate him letting us stay till the end and the very honest assessment. I have to wonder if the other vet had an idea this would have been the result and took advantage of the money and had us prolong his pain. After all my research was done I chose Calaveras Veterinary Clinic. I have not been disappointed. My dogs have come for routine, semi emergent and teeth cleaning. I've been a client for around 2 years now and every visit has been a good experience. All of the staff have been very friendly and kind. Dr. Bajwa is very thorough with his exams and you can tell he cares, as he's always very gentle with my cats. The only downside I can think of is the wait time. I'm usually a few minutes early, but always wait at least 30-40 minutes before actually being seen. I'm not sure if that's the same of other vets, so I won't knock any stars for that. Last visit my cat had *another* eye infection, so he ran some tests and got her the medicine she needed, but otherwise he said she was very healthy. The office is pretty run down, but it doesn't bother me so much as long as the service is good, which it is! I'll continue coming here until I'm given a reason not to :) read more

TLDR; Staff is not professional. Dr Anderson is an awesome vet. Clinic could be better with more professional staff + cleanliness. Hmmmm. It was a tough decision to write this review! My bf's family has been going to this clinic for almost a decade. Their pups are in the double digits now so I know for sure it's been a long time. I'd heard nothing but good things about this clinic, so when my BF and I moved back and we got a new puppy, I figured I might as well take her to Calaveras Clinic where the family's other two dogs go. Making my appt was easy--the woman on the phone, Pam I think? was very professional. When I arrived, I think someone new was getting trained. A client walked out with his old dog, and as he was paying, the dog proceeded to pee all over the floor...for a very...long...time. The owner apologized and walked out with his dog. The person who cleaned the pee merely tossed a paper towel or two and a rag over it, sopped it up, and that was it. No disinfectant or anything. I assume dogs pee like every five seconds in there so maybe it's not worth going full clean every time. I met Dr. Anderson for the first time and he checked out my pup. He was professional, cordial, informative, and so gentle with my puppy. When I mentioned my BF, he immediately knew who I was talking about. He really cares about his clients and knows them personally. I mentioned that one of the family's dogs was getting old and probably was suffering from tooth decay and mouth pain. He recommended I bring him in. I make the appt, dog goes in for check up, then I make another appt for his teeth surgery. When speaking to the woman on the phone, they only time she had available was like 2.5 weeks out!! I did not want our dog to suffer for that long, so I considered seeking another vet. Luckily, Dr Anderson was kind and squeezed the dog into his appts the very next day! However, it kinda went down hill from then. Drop off was at 730 AM. I was told to call 5 hours later to check on when I could pick up the dog. So I call around 230 PM, and they hadn't started on gumball yet. It made me uneasy to think our poor pup was at the vets for that long..nervous and scared! They finally got to him and pick up was around 5pm. The woman I spoke to mentioned that I could keep Gumball there overnight at no cost, in case we couldn't be home to watch him recover. I thought that was cool, until the lady explained that no one is even at the vet's office from 8pm til 7AM the next morning. Why would I leave my dog there for 12 hours right after he got surgery? What if something went wrong? We'd much rather watch him at home then leave him unattended...doesn't make sense. We opted for pick up. I couldnt make it myself, so my bf's sis went. She paid for the whole procedure, and then told us that somehow during the process, our dog's COLLAR GOT CHEWED OFF BY ANOTHER DOG. What?? That means a dog was THAT close to our dogs neck for a long enough time that the other dog managed to gnaw off our dog's collar?? The hell? Apparently the staff was cleaning cages and they put another dog in with gumball. If you don't know the temperament of a dog, you probably shouldnt put another dog in the same small cage. I don't get it. Dr Anderson offered to pay for a new collar, and he himself was shocked that it happened, which makes me think the staff didn't even communicate it to him. Gumball was bleeding from the gums for a while which i figured would happen, but his nose was also bleeding. Perhaps a wound from that mysterious collar destroying dog?? Anyway. I still really like Dr Anderson because he's a wonderful human being and so attentive, but his staff needs to be more careful! I wouldn't want the same situation to happen to another dog, especially if a dog is aggressive. They could end up fighting in the cage. /rant read more

I have a senior dog that has been diagnosed with pyometra Dr. Bajwa did the surgery and helped us from treatment through the healing process. I thought I was going to lose my baby that time but Dr. Bajwa is a great doctor and saved my baby. It has been two since that happened and every time my dogs get sick I always go to this clinic even though we live in San Jose and there are a lot of vet clinics I still choose this place. This is the only place that still took care of my senior dog even if she's a grumpy old lady they never refused to treat my senior dog. Thank you for taking such great care of Zo! My cat Zo got into a lot of thin plastic one day and he was throwing up for over a week. After taking him to an emergency vet ($1k), fasting Zo and doing follow up x-rays the next day that were inconclusive and left me feeling unsure of next steps ($400), I was referred to Dr. Bajwa by a technician from the second vet clinic I visited. Third time's a charm, because I immediately called Calaveras Vet Clinic and Zo was seen within 25 minutes. The previous vet forwarded x-rays to Calaveras and before I arrived, Dr. Bajwa had already viewed the x-rays and came up with a plan on how to treat/monitor Zo. We ended up doing a barium dye series over 24 hours and were able to see that the plastic was moving through Zo, so there was no obstruction. HOW LOGICAL to do this rather than suggesting extremely expensive ultrasounds which may not even allow us to view the thin plastic, or, suggesting an unnecessary exploratory surgery to see what is happening inside of Zo. We ended up not needing surgery at all, just had to wait it out a few more days, plus a shot for hydration considering Zo could not hold down food and water for so long. Dr. Bajwa was extremely thorough when explaining all aspects of care, he took the time to answer all questions I had. His calmness and confidence during my panic of Zo's week long emergency was reassuring. I was holding back happy tears during the final x ray review. Thank you for your expertise and care for Zo. Long story short, I had an appointment for my dog in the morning at 7:30am but the staffs showed up at around 8:00am and checked us in at 8:30am. We had wait for an hour just to check in because the staffs was late for their work. During check in, there was not an explanation on why they were late for work at all. We had check up, teeth cleaning and shots on that day. End up they completed everything but forget to take the shots which I found out when I checked the invoice at home. My first visit here we had to euthanize our 16 year old family dog Sushi who was battling doggy dementia (Canine Cognitive Dysfunction). We had Sushi as a puppy, but her condition was only worsening these last several months. During Covid times, they took precautions to keep everyone safe. We had a phone conversation with Dr. Anderson about the euthanasia procedure in the car outside the vet clinic and I have to really applaud him on his bedside manner. It was an extremely emotional time for us because our dog has been a part of our family for so long. He was compassionate, took his time to explain the process thoroughly and wanted to make sure that our last memory of Sushi was a positive one. We had mentioned that it was important to us to be present with Sushi in the room to calm her down and so that we'd be the last image she saw. I had regretted not being in the room previously when my other dog was euthanized and we didn't want Sushi to be alone. Dr. Anderson let us be a part of saying goodbye even with Covid precautions and for that we will always be grateful. Given the circumstances of what we were going into the clinic for, Dr. Anderson made it a much easier process for us. He even left us alone in the room to say our goodbyes to our beloved Sushi. This place used to be good until the recent ownership change and turned into a $2,800 mistake. 11/9/2020: took my pet there for dental scaling and polish ~$600. I picked up my pet 2 hours after they told me she was ready to go. When I got there, I noticed my pet was breathing heavily and didn't looked right, so I asked the doctor to take a look. Dr. Bajwa took a look and said she was fine. 11/9/2020 Night-time: my pet did not look normal and was still breathing heavily, so I took her to Sage emergency and chest x-ray showed that she had pneumonia from the dental cleaning and needed to stay overnight for monitoring. The emergency visit was $1700 because Calaveras didn't noticed anything wrong with her when she was in the cage not doing well for 2 hours and the doctor didn't think there was anything wrong with her when I asked. 11/10: Call Calaveras and spoke to the office manager and explained the issue. The office manager apologized, but said the Dr. Bajwa is out of the office until Thursday and that she'll have the doctor call me first thing Thursday morning to see what they can do about the emergency bill. 11/12: Thursday - no call from the doctor 11/17: I called Calaveras to speak with the office manager again, she apologized and said she forgot to talk to the doctor last week. After the call, the office manager apparently called Dr. Bajwa and updated the doctor on the situation. I received a call back from the office manager and said the Dr. Bajwa will call me first thing Thursday morning when he returns to the office. 11/18: Follow-up appointment for my pet to make sure the pneumonia is cleared, the bill was $500. 11/19: No call from the doctor as promised. 11/24: Didn't hear back from the doctor or anyone from the clinic. The result is a $2,800 mistake and pet that felt miserable for 2 weeks. She is just finally starting to resume her daily activities. read more

My two puppy just had the sprayed and neutered surgery today at Calaveras vet clinic. Before the surgery, both of them and also my cat are regular visitors here. The staffs here are very friendly and patient! We have waited for 3 weeks for their surgery, which is not bad. I called other clinics, most of them need at 1 to 2 months. The price for both of them are around $600 per dog, a normal price for private clinic as well. Mochi and Cookie are doing very well! We dropped them at 7:30pm, and the clinic called us at 1pm to pickup them. Mochi as a female puppy is going through lots of pain, she is not active as usual and moaned all the time which breaks my heart:( Cookie started play around when we were still at the clinic. He seems unstressed and happy after surgery which make me less worried. The staffs here carefully went over all details with us, so we had a smooth discharge with the clinic for both of Mochi and Cookie. I will definitely recommend this clinic to anybody near Milpitas. The price here is very normal, not cheap but not expensive at all compared to other private clinic. The waiting period is very short, normal check-in like vaccination or small exams only need to be schedule 2 to 5 days normally. Great and safe clinic for our beloved pets！ read more

My guinea pig started sneezing a lot on Saturday and there was the clear discharge coming from his nose and his eyes. I was worried so I called googled different vet clinics in San Jose right away. All of the ones I found stated on their page that they take care of small animals (rabbits, guinea pigs, etc.), however when I called them, they directed me to a different clinic. I took it upon myself to go on Yelp and found this place! There wasn't a waiting list. The doctor who takes care of small animals is only available on Tuesdays and Thursdays. They offer online appointment booking or you can call the office. This is an updated review. I was going through a rough time, and Dr Bajwa helped me unlike one could expect. My dog had a cancer growth on her stomach. I was not in a position to find a ready remedy, and the growth continued to get larger. I felt I was slowly losing my dog, and hope. Dr Bajwa, and his crew went above, and beyond their call of duty. My dog is now recuperating, and that is due directly to everything done for her by Calaveras Veterinary, and their continued care for her. They saved my dog. This review is long overdue for Dr. Anderson only ... he's been our vet the past 10+ years and he's the most loving and caring vet to our 4 fur babies. Our older dog left us recently but will definitely continue to come to his office even though we moved out of the area. We made that mistake thinking we can trust Hayward Vet hospital - just made us realize what a good, experienced loving vet Dr Anderson is. We always make it a point to schedule appointments when he's in the office bc I refuse to take my dog to the other vet Dr Bajwa. We experienced once when Dr Anderson was on holiday and quite frankly I got the feeling that he's not an animal person - very cold and dry and meh. Definitely not the kind of treatment I was expecting. Anyway I'm pretty sure Dr Anderson will eventually retire but meantime we're super grateful for the love and care he's shown our dogs. read more

This review is for Doctor Bajwa only! I have seen Dr. Anderson in the past and we really trust him and appreciate him. The staff is wonderful and competent and sweet. The building is no frills, but who cares. But I wanted to write this review just to warn other pet owners * do not take any animal you care about to Dr. Bajwa.* I found a kitty a couple of months ago and she was super sweet, obviously a stray because she was very hungry and had no collar so I thought I might adopt her and I took her in to get checked out. Dr. Bajwa barely looked at her and barely touched her. He told me that she was young, under a year old, and very pregnant. Because her belly was very swollen, that made sense to me. He suggested I run labs on her and I got $600 worth of labs because I figured that I wanted to start off right knowing her health. He called me the next day to let me know that the labs looked fine. So a couple of days later I took her to another vet because I was trying to decide if I should let her have the kittens. I didn't really have bandwidth to deal with a bunch of new kittens but depending on how far along she was, I figured that it would make sense to let her have them and find homes for them. The vet took some x-rays and came in looking very serious. They told me that the cat was not a year old but it actually over 10 years old. That her belly was not full of kittens but actually it was full of fluid. That she had probably a very serious disease, one that could not be diagnosed without even more tests. They said they did not know how long she would live but that it probably was not very long. I have two other cats and I did not want to risk bringing home a cat who was elderly and frail and sick with an unknown disease. Although my heart was broken, I decided to euthanize her. So she had a loving and painless death, and I buried her next to my other beloved cats who have gone over the rainbow bridge. I was so heartbroken and I was so angry at Dr. Bajwa. I had asked him so many questions and he was very cavalier and casual with his answers. $600 is not a small amount of money and that is on my credit card and I will be paying it off for quite a long time. I am very glad that I went to another vet for information and I will absolutely never see Dr. Bajwa again. I am writing this review in the hopes that we can prevent similar heartbreak happening to someone else. read more

My dog and I moved and had to find a new vet in the area. They were able to squeeze us in on short notice, which is really important to me. The staff was so friendly and they had a great system during covid times. You called when you arrived, they came and got my dog and the vet called me once he was finished. I didn't wait long and all my questions were answered. The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5, is because of the price of the medications. One of the medications I was given was $58, in which is only $28 on chewy; another one was I was charged $47 and can be purchased on chewy for $16 and the last one can be purchased on chewy for $14 and I was charged $35... that's $82 more than I could have gotten through online retailers, which doesn't make me feel great to be overcharged so much. Will not be getting any of our meds through this vet. read more

I miss doctor Anderson! New management and all they care about is making money. I had my pup come in few times (at least 6-7 times within a year. This includes numerous stomach problems, removal of tick, and ear infection) and the new doctor there are interested in recommending products right off the bat without asking to see how my pup is doing in the first place. This happens every single time I'm not seeing doctor Anderson. During one of the last visits, it was my last straw. I brought my dog in because she had a tick that we removed but apparently left the head inside. What rubbed me the wrong way was that the new doc said didn't bother asking how my dog was feeling. If there was a negative rating, this clinic definitely deserves it. They should not be open. Dr. Bajwa does not treat pets with care; he views them as cash cows. If you want your pet to get worse, this is the place for you. My dog came out worse than when we came in. He will lie to your face and charge you extra for "treatments" and "vitamins" he gave. The reason I am writing this review is to warn any future clients to never bring their pets here. I fear that something really bad will happen to them if they get treated by Dr. Bajwa. Recently went in and got the Puppy package for my new puppy's vaccinations. I will likely try to find another vet for the future - my experience with this vet was subpar on multiple counts. First day - understandable that we can't go into the clinic at all, and the process is that the vet will call during the process to report pets health/any issues and answer questions. The vet told me my pet was healthy and answered my questions, but the tone felt very rushed and bare minimum type deal. My pet came out wet and when asked why they said that white dogs usually bleed and they applied something where it was bleeding (that would have been something I could have been told during the call, rather than when I asked?) We are about to go home and I see that there is no rabies tag. I called back and asked to confirm that my pet got rabies shot and the lady on the phone sounded very rude telling me it's on the receipt. After telling her there is no tag, she says that they forgot to give it to me and someone promptly comes out to give me the paper that they dropped. I get home and see they forgot to add the weight to the paper so the paper that confirms my dog got rabies shot has weight of 0.0. I go in for second day, drop my dog off, and we are in the car waiting for him to come out, and I see my little puppy roaming around inside and he's at the window looking in at us. We see him taking a poo, scuttling around, wondering if they're letting him roam in there? And then see a lady with a big net to catch him?? Anyway I asked for an updated rabies paper with my dogs weight correctly listed, which I got and was nice, but this time they missed the vets signature on there... Okay, fine, whatever. Next day we get back the results for dogs fecal test, and now we see the breed is listed as Afghan hound, instead of American eskimo. The whole experience prompts me to look elsewhere for Mochi's future care. They are prone to mistakes, not especially friendly, and not informative in any caring way. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this vet. I had used this vet for 13 years with my last Boston terrier and was always happy with how he was treated. After moving back to the area, we had an emergency with our current Boston terrier and we brought him in close to end of business on a Saturday. The vet let us know that very likely our dog had eaten something that wasn't able to pass through his system and he needed emergency surgery to fix the problem. After going through our options we agreed to the surgery and the doctor went right to treating our Gus. After seeing the issue, the doctor realized that Gus' intestines had ruptured and he was already septic. We were horrified because we knew this could very likely be a death sentence. On top of that, the area affected was attached to Gus's stomach and lining and not in a place that could be removed and rejoined with healthy tissue. It was devastating news. We plead with the doc to do his best and he agreed that he would do what he could. Because of all these complications, the surgery went much longer than expected, and a couple hours later we were able to be with Gus as he woke up from the anesthesia. The doc told us that he tried his best to cut out the dead tissue and he was very cautiously optimistic about the outcome. He gave us about a 50/50 chance of Gus recovering. We spent the night with a very sick pup at the emergency vet, but it seemed that every hour that passed, Gus seemed to perk up a little bit. After making it through the night we were sent home with strict instructions and medications that we followed to a T. It is now a few weeks later and Gus is right back to his perfect perky self! I couldn't be happier and we really owe Gus' life this amazing vet! I would trust this vet to operate on me over a lot of medical doctors I've met. If I could give him 10 stars, I would. read more

After reading reviews for most of the vet clinics in the area, I was prepared for a vet visit that could possibly end up causing me and my doggie major headaches. I called around on a Wednesday, and the soonest I could get an appointment for an exam was that Friday at Calaveras Vet Clinic. Compared to the 2 and 3 week wait at other clinics, I was stoked for an appointment so soon and so I scheduled my little dude right then. When Friday rolled around, I was greeted by a very pleasant girl behind the counter. Apparently she was new, but she was making an effort to learn the names of the medications and was very personable and seemed to handle the pet patients and their people very well. After paperwork and a short wait, Squiggy and I went into the exam room. Having his temp taken was less than pleasant for him, but was handled quickly and efficiently by the vet tech. Our visit with Dr. Bajwa was quick and painless. He was able to answer all of my questions and my doggy was tolerant of him, which for my dog is amazing. While waiting to pay, the waiting room got a bit hectic - but the staff seemed to handle the chaos and quickly took care of me when it was time to pay the bill. There were signs on the door, saying only one person at a time were supposed to be in the waiting area due to COVID. However, this was totally ignored and I was a little uncomfortable while waiting to pay. They also honored my yelp coupon for a free nail trimming, which was handled quickly and without issues. I requested the exam results be emailed to me after my visit, for insurance purposes. I was pleasantly surprised when I received the email only a couple of hours after the appointment. Overall, this entire process was nowhere near the nightmare I had been anticipating. In fact, it was exactly the opposite. I just moved to the area and wanted to establish a new vet for my dog. He was 10.5 MONTHS old when the vet told me he needed a dental cleaning. I trusted Dr. Bajwa to take good care of us especially me being new to owning a pet and I'm clearly still learning. I found out by one of the front desk receptionist after check out that the dental only took 5 min because my dog has no tartar build up and that all my dogs adult teeth haven't even fully grown in yet. And I paid almost 400 bucks for that visit for my dog to get his puppy teeth cleaned when they are going to fall out in a couple months? We contacted Calavaras Veterinary Clinic (CVC) and Krista, Doctor, and staff were immediately receptive to our needs. We emailed them our pets records from our predecessor vet office and CVC was immediately able to put all of our pets data into their system, and inform us of any vaccines or tests that our pets are in need of. Most importantly, when we had any issue that required immediate attention, they were able to make an appointment for us to bring our pet into the office in a reasonable time frame. This is very important to us as our pets are like our children and we take their care pretty seriously. DO NOT USE! DO NOT USE!!! When my vet retired last year, at the height of Covid, I needed to find a new place to get some vaccinations scheduled. This place had decent ratings, but digging deeper I see a lot of them were attached to a vet who worked here previously and also retired. For most of the past year, everything was curbside - they would take the dog in, you would wait outside. Prices seemed fair, seemed like an OK enough place. I recently got a new puppy so need to do all those new puppy things. First I scheduled just a check in even though she already had her first round of shots before I got her. It was the first time they were letting people inside. this visit should have been a warning. The exam room was so dirty, and cobwebs were hanging from the ceiling. The vet gave her a very brief exam, a dewormer, and at check out the bill was $200 (and with my receipt I was handed one flea prevention tablet which we had not even discussed but I was charged a ton for, so that visit with no vaccines seemed wildly expensive) - I said I had questions about the brand and I was told to discuss with vet at next visit. (I then researched it and was NOT going to give my pup this brand) Three weeks later I return for her booster shots. I had a VERY clear discussion about which shots she was to get. I do not like to have my dogs get multiple shots in one day - they are a small breed and it is just a lot for them to handle. My dog, my decision. I VERY clearly said which shots she was to get and which ones she shouldn't. The receptionist (on the website it shows her name is Luna - you can spot her with her three inch dagger nails and tarantula eyelashes) was like - ok, well lets get her weighed and then pick this up from there. She picked up my dog and walked back with her, leaving me at the front desk, not allowed to follow. It took a few minutes - weird, how long does it take to weight a 4 pound puppy? She finally comes back out, hands me the pup, and says - let's get you checked out. So - what? She got the vaccine already? Yes. Just the one I wanted - no she got more than that + the dewormer again. I said I very specifically said she was NOT go get more than the one vaccine - and this receptionist rolls her eyes and said - well they already had all the vaccines pulled and the puppy didn't cry. I was livid. She just kept insisting it was "fine" - no apology. So now a receptionist with no veterinary training is making decisions abut MY pet against MY wishes and acting like I just need to pay and leave. I asked to speak to the vet, and also returned the flea meds and said - also, I am not giving her this. She ignores my request to talk to vet - says, which brand do you want. Well, that is a conversation I would like to have with the vet, along with why my dog was just given more vaccines than I asked for. Deep loud sigh and says - I will get you my boss. After a short wait, receptionist comes out, does not make eye contact, and another lady comes out - she was nice enough but was NOT the vet. Says - she (receptionist) is very sorry (she was only sorry I made her get someone else). And really, there was not much to be done. But NEVER got an apology from the woman who completely dropped the ball and could not recall a simple conversation that happened 1 minute prior, and continued to be rude even after she knew she messed up - just making excuses. Left with no flea meds because even when asking to speak to the vet AGAIN about both the vaccines and the meds was ignored. Also, my pup threw up TWICE on the way home. It was TOO MUCH and I told them that. Fast forward three hours....my pup is now whimpering and crying nonstop and if I try to even lightly pet her she SCREAMS. When she shifts in her bed again she SCREAMS. Call the vet's office - "Joslyn" says "oh she is probably just traumatized, if she is still crying in a couple of days call us back and we will get her on the schedule to come in" - REALLY? It is normal for a dog to scream and whimper nonstop like this for a couple of days? I have had lots of pets in my life and have never heard if such a thing. These people are the WORST. Between the incompetence of the staff, the unavailability of the vet, and the dirty space - I will never go here again. The nerve of a receptionist to override an owner's health decisions and the rest of the office to shrug it off. I plan to file a complaint with the State. PS - A few months ago I called them because my older dog was having anxiety from some construction related noise, asking if there was anything they could prescribe. It took them THREE weeks to get back to me, construction was over, but then left me multiple calls about picking up the meds even when I told them they were no longer needed.
