I am very sad to write this negative review of Cesar and Calderon's Landscape and have waited many months in hopes that he would fix the outstanding issues at our residence - he has not. After an initial great experience Cesar showed an incredible lack of professionalism and did not follow up on promises made regarding various projects that were incomplete and unacceptable. In early August 2020 Cesar and his crew installed a new perimeter fence with defective wood that warped and split in multiple places almost immediately. I did not hold this against him, even though he took his time to get things settled. After months of back and forth he finally replaced the wood in October but was frustrated that he had to "eat the cost" and then refused to complete other fixes he had promised to repair earlier in the project process (sod that was diseased, front gate fencing that was done sloppily: see photos). He said he would return to complete the repair and never showed up or returned my messages (see photos). When speaking to him about my frustration he truly felt that it was not his fault the products he chose to use were of poor quality. Now we are out ~40k, have a terrible gate/front fence, dead grass, and a bad taste in our mouths. I will say that Cesar's crew is an awesome group of kind & respectful men and while Cesar is charming and knowledgeable his lack of follow through was deeply disappointing in the end. Prior to our negative experience we had referred him to friends and neighbors who have also paid him $$$ for work. My hope is that their projects stand the test of time as ours did not. Be warned! Note: 1) the replacement fencing was not the pricey stained wood I paid for and had installed initially. I did not complain about this and was sympathetic to the construction complications COVID has created. 2) he was only willing to pay for the cost of replacing the diseased sod, I would have had to pay the labor for re-installing. read more

They never complained they only took a short break to eat and finished the job in less than one day even though our park manager gave them a lot of grief. Needed some work done in my backyard and clearing of my back canyon. Called around and got a couple of quotes and Cesar's price was very competitive and for more work than the other guys. Response time was very quick and work was scheduled and done a week later. His crew was very friendly, hard working and professional. They came early and ready to work. If I could give him 0 stars I totally would! I'd reached out to Cesar, I'm assuming the owner to schedule an appointment to come out & give me a quote for our Complex since I'm on the HOA board. We're looking for a new landscaping company since we are unhappy with who we currently have now. I don't know if it's a "communication/language issue", he did come out when he was supposed to but getting him to email/send me the quote is an issue. He came out as scheduled Saturday morning , Sept 17th 2016. Till this day I have not seen a quote!He claims/ so called said he did emailed me & ask for my email addy again! I of course gave it to him & yet nothing. If you didn't want the job you should've been upfront about it at our appointment. Don't give people the run around! It's called being professional! I recently worked with Caesar and his crew to re-work my front yard. The job included removing sod, soil, palm trees, trimming trees, removing a GIANT Bird of Paradise, new irrigation valves, new drip irrigation system and installation of ground cover. It was a fairly large project and Caesar and his team were amazing. First, Caesar communicated timely during the lead up to the project and, more importantly, AFTER. Second, Calderon's team (shout out to Simon!), was exceptional. Kind, diligent and a pleasure to have at our home. Third, they worked FAST! They accomplished the makeover of our front yard in just 2 days. I was pleasantly surprised! Fourth, as is often the case when renovating existing landscaping, particularly irrigation, you encounter issues in blending the old with the new. In our case it was wiring the new valves to the really old timer. This issue was addressed by installing a new timer with more zones and entailed Caesar having to come back 10 days later to wire it up. He did so happily and we are loving our new system. Firth, converting spray to drip can be a challenge. Despite the challenges, they were able to convert my low water beds to drip without digging out the entire system. Sixth, for some unknown reason there are old sprinkler heads buried and capped 18 inches beneath the soil. As we tested the new irrigation system, we discovered (by observing a huge pond of water, that one of the old sprinkler heads was leaking. I texted Caesar and he had Simon out within the hour to fix the leak. Bear in mind, this was not within the scope of the proposal but Caesar is so determined to make his customers happy he fixed it anyway. Finally, we were pleased with the quote and overall cost of the project. I simply cannot recommend Calderon's highly enough. Rarely is it a pleasure working with contractors. I'm happy to report that this contractor knocked it out of the park! read more

I had a request out for the removal of a 12 year old century agave that bloomed with a 30 foot stalk and was beginning to die. 3 landscapers replied they couldn't provide service but Calderon's Landscape replied and came to see the work. I got a reasonable quote, a date for service, a team of guys that showed up for close to two hours of hard work. They took great care to not damage some recently installed pavers and cleaned up after they were done without a sign of the agave in sight. Given the hard labor and hauling away all of the part of the plant including the large stump the initially reasonable quote was a great value for a job well done. I've use Cesar and Calderon's Landscape now for 3 separate projects. All 3 projects have been done very well and many compliments have been received by others on the quality of the work. I've used Cesar and his team for everything from pavers, to fences, to tree removal, to complete yard overhaul. He is always very generous with him time during the bid/design phase, sometimes making several trips to refine the design in person. I do suggest working to draw a picture with him to make the design process is efficient and ensure everyone is on the same page. I've also appreciated that while he has a big crew, he is involved in the actual work on site. If something comes up that he needs input on, he'll FaceTime to show real-time whatever decision needs to be made or texts pictures - this gives me a lot of confidence that things will get done right. Cesar is also one of the best contractor project managers I've seen (and I've worked with a lot of contractors!) - he's got everything orchestrated for the job and it's amazing to see his different crews lined up during the job. Overall I would recommend Calderon's based on the competitive price point, the speed of work, and the results. Cesar knows his stuff and his crew was great to work with. As the project came to a close, and loose ends were all that were left, it was sometimes hard to get in touch with Cesar as he was busy on his next job, but he always got back to me eventually. it is family business where Cesar is running every aspect including manning the phone line, so it makes sense. I had a way overgrown yard with morning glory, rotted wood fence, chain-link fence and uneven dirt yard. The demoed it all in about a day and began a new picture frame style fence. They prepared and leveled the yard, installed new sprinkler system, and laid down sod. Cesar allowed me to work on parts of the project myself and only pay him for the parts I needed help on. Whenever there were results that did not meet my expectations, Cesar worked hard to fix it. Everyone on his crew was polite and they were always very punctual.
