Quick ordering, pleasant service, and the food was delicious. While waiting you have the option of sitting at the tables located outside. A clean eating environment that gives you the chance to people watch if you want. Very colorful and easy to see what is offered food wise.

Great burger at a very decent price, huge onion rings so crispy and yummy. Patio now has privacy and a cute atmosphere. Very friendly service and fresh food delivered to your table promptly. Not your average taco shop!

This place is delicious! I stopped in on Tuesday and ordered their Taco Tuesday Special: three tacos with homemade corn tortillas with the protein of your choice for $9.99 plus tax. The protein choices are carne asada, adobada, beef birria, carnitas, lengua, and pollo asado or grilled chicken. First of all, the corn tortilla with the griddles cheese on them were fantastic. I liked that they were thick and tasted of that great natural corn flavor. The beef birria was tender, juicy, and delicious. I liked that they placed nice large tender pieces of the beef in each taco. The tacos were eating with the beef consommé. The tacos also came with house made guacamole, which was very well made and tasty. Each taco was topped with chopped onion and cilantro. On the the side came freshly sliced radishes and lime wedges. The red salsa I asked for was very good and offered a nice mild heat. The service was very good. Alicia in the kitchen is makes delicious food and she is on it. They offer covered outside seating only. This is a great new eatery.

Newly opened family owned restaurant in Lemon Grove. I ordered the Taco Tuesday special, 3 tacos for $9.99. Unfortunately, they all have to be the same for the special. I went with Adobada, no pico. I should have asked, the guac had tomatoes in it. I just picked them out. My food smelled amazing, I almost took a bite in the car! The tortilla was homemade, nice and thick. Tables on the patio if you want to eat there, street and lot parking. Customer service was amazing. Cash or card. I'll definitely be back!

Ok folks, this place is an absolute gem and is my new fave taco shop. Their food is absolutely delicious! Everything is fresh and with very friendly service. Over the few weeks that they have been opened we have ordered their tacos which are soo good. We've had the birria ( and they have the consommé !) the pollo asada and the carne asada. I believe they make their own tortillas and they are absolutely yummy. They do not hold back either, generously filled with meat, all the fixings and guacamole. I like that they give slices of radishes. Also, to note, the lime they give isn't all dried up like many taco shops have, fresh limes are so appreciated. Friend had the torta and said it was very good. I ate the fruit that came as a side, and their fruit was very fresh as well - had blackberries my fave. Carne asada quesadilla was also very good and was large enough for two or for dinner later. The carne asada fries were so good! San Diegans are so damn adamant on who has the best fries so I would def say come check them out and doubt you'll be disappointed. My favorite thing I've had so far though, is their ceviche that comes with a side of tortilla chips. It was absolutely delicious. They had it last Friday as a special and hope they continue to carry it as a special. I also loved their agua fresca. Also made fresh daily, I've only had their Jamaica but it hit the spot. I don't eat menudo but my mom does and she liked theirs. Friend had the surf and turf burrito and he said he def would order again. There is parking directly on the street or a few spots where Coops is. Has a covered patio with a lot of seating and heaters for when the temp dips. Follow their IG as they have been posting what their specials are . So glad this new spot is here and I hope they thrive!

We tried the pupusas and they were definitely 10/10 . Everything was fresh and delicious. Service was fast and they were super friendly! I will be recommending Cali Mex Cocina to everyone I know!

This was my 1st time going Here, I wanted to try a different Mexican place to eat. I ordered a fish taco which was good. My husband ordered 3 beef tacos. So when he was putting his order in he Specifically said to the lady 3 time no Guacamole and no pico deguao. And the lady repeated 3 times no guacamole amd no pico. When we got home hos tacos had guacamole and pico. Omg! My husband was pissed. I told him scrap it off and just eat it, he said hell no that's not what I ordered. Since I didn't make dinner he scrap all the stuff off and ate it. He was impressed with the meat to. He asked me to try the meat it was hard and had no flavor. I was surprised because Mexican food like the meat us always tender and good season. Not this one. So I called back and talk to the cook. His name is Neri, he was very nice I explained what had happened he remembered the order he said we can bring it back or if he ate it I'll give you a discount. I said he was hungry so he scrap the top part off and ate it. Well I will go back to get something later for my husband. If Neri give me a good discount I will change my reviews, if not I will keep it the same

One morning on my way to sprouts I noticed that a new Mexican spot has popped up. A few days past and finally decided to give it a try one morning after visiting Home Depot. I have to say that this is by far the best Breakfast burrito I have gotten in this area. The choice of ingredients are great. The burrito has great flavor and is not super greasy like other places. I got a bacon/ham combo and to my surprise it comes with a small fruit bowl which my kids loved. I will definitely be coming back and try another item on their menu. A+ for service and prices.

We were hungry for Mexican food so based on prior reviews we thought we'd try Cali Mex Cocina. This is a very small restaurant with a walk-up window and outside seating only. The outside patio was covered and all the tables were very clean. The menu isn't just Mexican, they offer salads, onion rings, and a breakfast menu. My husband ordered the surf and turf burrito. This was a HUGE burrito weighing in at a whopping 1 lb 10 oz (see pics)!!! This delicious burritto was stuffed with chopped carne asada, several JUMBO shrimp (see pic), minimal rice, some pico de gallo and chipolte white sauce. We asked for all 3 of their salsas to try. We liked the green salsa the best. The red salasa was the most mild, then the green had some kick, watch out for the dark red it is muy Caliente but good! My husband scored the burrito a 5. I ordered the 3 tacos; you choose what meat you'd like. I chose a carna asada, a beef birria, and a pollo asada. The tacos are served on homemade corn tortillas, with cheese, pico de gallo and a pile of "guacamole". When I first opened my box, I couldn't believe the size of these 3 tacos... they were huge (see pic). But sadly these tacos were not very tasty. The homemade tortilla was very thick and rubbery...I was looking for the cheese that was advertised as being in the tacos, but it had been grilled onto the inside of the tortilla (maybe to help keep the ingredients from softening the taco shell??) Of the 3 meats I tried, I liked the flavor of the beef biŕria the best. Now I have something to say about all that guacamole that was over-piled on to each taco. The guacamole had an overpowering lime juice flavor with no flavor of avocado at all... also lacked some salt. I think maybe someone forgot to taste-test the guacamole before serving it to customers. This was a huge "miss" for me. I love guacamole and tacos, but this was not tasty at all. I ended up scraping the guac off all my tacos and eating just the meat with some green salsa. The corn tortillas were just way too heavy for my liking and the grilled cheese on the inside was odd. I scored the tacos a 2. We also ordered onion rings served with a creamy chipolte sauce, these were absolutely delicious! We scored the onion rings a 5! We will be back to try some other menu items. I hope the guacamole was just a recipe error that night.

Outdoor seating only, you order through window. Fast friendly service. First time here and definitely will be back to try other items on the menu. Solid tacos stuffed with plenty of meat and generous with the guacamole. Visited on Sunday for brunch worth a visit when your in the area. Ask for the salsa matcha if you enjoy the spicier stuff. We decided to stop in because we noticed it was a new to area and wanted to try out something we have not yet tried. Im glad we did, this will be in our local area taco rotation for sure!

Amazing food! I had the carne asada burrito and it was perfect. Quick service and great staff! I would give 10 stars if I could.

We decided to try this new place, the experience was awful ..3 tacos for $12 with barely any meat, we order carne asada. Then we order the surf and turf burrito, it was pure guacamole..then they forgot to gives the French fries we order, so we decide to go back to pick them up and the fires were burnt and we had to return again ...we end up making 3 trips to get our order correct. I would definitely not recommend going there.

We're fortunate to live nearby and our family is STOKED Cali Mex Cocina has opened up in Lemon Grove. We haven't been that happy with the quality of the Mexican cuisine in this neck of Lemon Grove (Cali Mex blows the doors off of Santana's). Everything on the menu so far is delectable and gives off the aura of being cooked with skill, enthusiasm and passion. My daughter describes the Mulita (w/Adobada) as "heaven on a plate." My son is a chicken tender aficionado and gives the Chicken Tenders w/Fries "10 stars" (he's eight years old). My wife loves the pollo, carnitas & carne asada tacos. Me? I'm a sucker for the specials; in fact, I actually got my Facebook back up and running just so I could check out what the daily special is! From Pupusas to Enchiladas, they're always made fresh with a lot of love and attention to detail. If you live in Lemon Grove or find yourself nearby, treat yourself! You'll thank yourself later. My daughter would like to add, "I would give them 100 stars if I could!"

It's convenient that they're open 24/7 but since there are in a shared plaza in the middle, there's no drive thru making you have to go inside. I like how there was an open salsa bar with different options of hot sauces ranging from mild to spicy. They even have hot carrots, jalapeños, and radishes out for free which is a winner to me! They do have a sign limiting you to 3 sauces per person and that they have cameras watching lol. The service was super quick I was still getting my hot sauces when the food was already done to my surprise. As for the food itself ehh it was okay. Their cheese quesadilla was a little on the burnt side. Their rolled tacos and asada nachos came with everything which included guac, pico, sour cream, lettuce so that was a plus for me not to order any extras since some just come with the basic cheese. They were both good.

Not only was all the food amazing, but the portions were generous and made for some great leftovers. My parents were in town so we were out to dinner together and we all got different dishes and each one was better than the next. The quesadilla was probably the best thing we had. Our server was attentive and quick while still giving time to be friendly. When they were out of a couple items for the drinks we wanted, she was ready with alternatives and always offered to at least double check in case there was something they could do. My dad even got a little preview of a new version of their Old Fashioned since they were in the process of phasing out the old one and were out of one of the ingredients.

It came with a yummy almond galleta dusted with powdered sugar. The coffee was perfect. I dipped my cookie in my coffee and truly it was the perfect bite plus perfect treat as I waited for my food because I was HUNGRY! Our food took a while to arrive it was a Saturday morning at brunch but it wasn't crowded. The wait was the kind of wait you do where you look at the tables around you to see who has food and who doesn't and wonder what was the seating order of the folks around you and if they got their food before you and why. So when my food arrived I was sooooo ready! I ordered the chorizo and crispy potatoes burrito. It looked great when it arrived! I strategically cut my burrito about a quarter of the way in. I knew I would at least eat a quarter but I knew I definitely wouldn't eat the whole thing and I didn't want to waste a perfectly good bite on all tortilla. I cut my burrito and put a bite on my fork and as I put my food in my mouth I looked down and find a long curly hair. To say I was disappointed was an understatement. I was disappointed for several reasons. 1. The bite I took was all egg and tortilla. No cheese no chorizo no potato. 2. I was starving! And 3. I knew I wasn't going to have anything to eat until after the other two people I was with finished eating and I could go somewhere else to get food. I didn't let it damper my mood. I showed the waiter who was very apologetic and took my plate away. When he walked away. It hit me I didn't tell him to not bring me anything else because I was going to eat a remade burrito. So I got his attention because I didn't want them to waste anymore food. Here is what I will say. To replace my food, I was given a pastry platter that was AMAZINGLY good! The concha was legit the best I've ever eaten. The banana bread was delicious with delicious toasted pecans which added a caramelized texture to the banana bread! No joke, it was so good. What I will also say is that I was visited with no less than 3 people including Gabriela herself who was absolutely apologetic about my experience and assured me it wouldn't happen again. What's also nice is that I wasn't charged for the food I ate which believe it or not has happened to me before MANY years ago. My peeps whom I was with absolutely loved their food. One had the Sopes and the other had the huevos rancheros. So while I have to be honest about my review, I really think this was a one off mistake and at the very least I would highly suggest ordering cafecito and pastries from Casa Gabriela!

I've also heard rave reviews from family and friends. Since we were suit shopping at Fashion Valley and were hanging out with my son and his girlfriend, I recommended that we eat at Chuy's for lunch. If you're a fan of value for your money and tasty Mexican food, I definitely recommend dining here. 4.5 stars for sure, but I'm glad our go to Mexican food spot, Yesenia's, is closer to us and we can visit there for amazing Mexican food as well. Chuy's Taco Shop is located in Rolando, which is close to El Cajon Blvd. and the San Diego State University area. The easiest way to get here would be the 8 freeway east or west, exiting off of 70th Street, and heading south. The taco shop is located within a small strip mall where you can find Ben & Esther's Vegan Jewish Deli, San Diego Blenders Smoothies, and Moxie Theatre. It's across the street from a tire shop. From the outside, it looks like a typical local San Diego Mexican fast food joint, but you can immediately tell that the owners are proud of their accolades displaying Guy Fieri's DDD mug and Yelp's 2025 Top 100 Places To Eat distinction on its front glass window. As you step inside, you'll see several homages to Guy Fieri of DDD fame with a framed signed picture, another framed signed pic with Guy's caricature, and one of their televisions showing the DDD episode featuring Chuy's. There's a good amount of tables and chairs to dine in, several televisions, distressed laminate wood flooring, and accolades hanging on their walls that the restaurant has garnered. Friendly and professional customer service from the lady behind the register, who also doubled as our server. Not sure anything can be done about this, but flies also liked Chuy's food as we had to keep fanning our food. I've been blessed to eat at several DDD restaurants throughout California, Nevada, and Arizona and I have enjoyed every single one I dined at. Having eaten at Chuy's Taco Shop for the first time, I understand why Guy Fieri did a segment here. What I really appreciated about Chuy's was their value for your money. When you dine here, be prepared for large portions, so definitely come hungry. Whenever I eat at any Mexican fast food spot, I order the same go to items that my family and I order at our favorite restaurant Yesenia's. Since I was breaking bread with my wife, son, and his girlfriend, we ordered the following: two carne asada burritos; five rolled tacos with cheese, guacamole, and lettuce; full order carne asada chips; half order of carne asada fries; and a pineapple agua fresca. I wanted to compare what we typically order from Yesenia's. When you eat at Chuy's, the amount of food you get will feed an army. I didn't expect the carne asada burritos to be the length of my forearm. I got to eat some of my son's and it was delicious and satisfying. The star of our meal were the rolled tacos. It was stuffed full with tasty beef, crunchy, and its components were memorable. We barely touched the carne asada chips because we ordered too much, but they aren't stingy with their carne asada both for the chips and their fries. The half order of carne asada fries were plenty and I enjoyed that dish. The pineapple drink was refreshing and helped beat the toasty weather. I still feel Yesenia's is better quality, but for the amount of food at Chuy's, it's a must visit Mexican restaurant. I'm glad I got to finally experience Chuy's Taco Shop and check off another Guy Fieri featured DDD restaurant. If I'm in the area, I will definitely stop by to try their other menu items, but I'm glad our fave Mexican fast food spot is closer to us to satisfy our Mexican food cravings.
