We saw a TikTok on the California burritos and they did not disappoint. The fries were crispy and the meat to fry ratio was good. Their salsas come in plastic sealed bags now, which one is more than enough. The staff is friendly and remembers their regulars. They have outdoor seating which we love to stop and eat during the summer. They also have plenty of seating inside.

Tried Nachos Taco Shop and the California burrito was definitely worth it. The carne asada was flavorful, the fries stayed crispy, and everything was packed together perfectly without feeling greasy or overstuffed. Good portion size, and the salsa was solid to top it off. Service was quick and the customer service was good. Definitely coming back.

When I learned they had a Chile relleno burrito on the menu, I decided to try it because I am a fan. The burrito was of average size when it arrived, but I was a little disappointed with it when I sliced it in half and noticed a skinny cheese stuffed Anaheim pepper inside, not the proper poblano pepper in all its glory. Not only was the chile relleno flavor not there, but its size was quite insufficient relative to the rest of the ingredients in the burrito. The burrito came with a lot of rice and cheese which was not necessary since the Chile relleno already comes with cheese. The burrito also had a white substance in it, which I think was sour cream, I was not a fan of the cream in the burrito here. On a good note, their red hot sauce was very tasty. The service was friendly. The young lady at the counter was very nice, but I really thought the Chile relleno burrito was just okay. I hope they use a poblano peppers in the near future. The cash price for the burrito was $11.81 plus tax. There's inside and outside seating.

Disappointed - I have been to this taco shop numerous times and I have always been happy with our orders today we walked in and ordered three separate menu items. One was a Carne Asada burrito, one was two Carne Asada tacos with guacamole and the last was 3 Chicken tacos... The chicken street was dry and tasteless and my son didn't want to eat them so I went up to the counter and asked if we could possibly switch it out for something else as we just spent almost $60 on three items and was immediately told no and that they would just "throw it away after going back-and-forth. A young gentleman from the back came out and said that they were willing to offer a discount on another item. Asked what the discount was for a Carne asada quesadilla to replace the dry inedible chicken tacos & he said a three dollar discount so from $15 to 12 which was unacceptable. The reasoning behind the three dollar discount was because "if he wanted guacamole on the tacos, it would've made them "wetter and not as dry.".. as a discussion went back-and-forth. He proceeded to ask my husband if you were in my position as an owner of a restaurant what would you do to his surprise? We have been business owners in the past and of an actual restaurant and our response was we would try to make it right so that we would keep longevity in our clientele and return customers... After going back-and-forth for about 10 minutes, he said will make you guys something else. What do you want "at that point...It was exhausting & we left. won't be back and have a feeling that that's why it was empty on a Sunday afternoon.

An absolute standout experience! The tacos are incredibly fresh and come with generous portions of meat. I couldn't even snap a photo of the bean and cheese burrito before it was devoured I've been told it's the best in San Diego, and based on how fast it vanished, I believe it.

All potato, some sausage, basically no egg or cheese! It was like this all the way through.

I am so sad to leave this review. We've always loved this place for breakfast burritos and it was our go-to when we catered our daughter's daycare staff for breakfast. I'm pregnant and today all I wanted was the breakfast burrito! I got a sausage breakfast burrito (no beans) and it was literally 90% potato! Just crumbs of egg and barely any cheese. It was so dry. Not my typical experience there at all! When I showed the staff (I honestly thought they forgot the egg?) they said there are always 2 eggs in there even though we were all looking at a pile of potatoes.. they offered eggs on the side, but no refund or remake. I was splitting this with my toddler and wasn't able to take eggs on the side to go. Sadly probably won't ever get a breakfast burrito there again if this is their new "recipe." If this was my first and only experience, it'd be 1 star. It was inedible. I'm giving a 3 to be fair because it's usually a solid 4-5 star place with super friendly staff. The pic is from when I got home and cut it open, hoping the eggs were just hiding somewhere at the bottom :(

    Fish taco

No complaints! Fish tacos was so tasty. Huge piece of fish, pico isn't toooo tomato heavy which is nice. The chipotle sauce isn't super chipotle forward either so good for everyone even if you don't like chipotle like me. Lemon adds a nice acidity. Chimichanga is massive.. this could feed two people easily. The guac and sour cream is a good addition too. $19 for both, a little expensive for the taco but when you see how big it is, it feels reasonable for San Diego prices

This taco shop is right on the corner of University Ave in La Mesa, and is a convenient drive thru option. Pros: Friendly service that's appreciative of customers, ADA accessible seating, outdoor patio, few parking spots but mostly street parking, decent food. Staff is friendly and everything is made to order

My favorite taco shop in the entire world! Family run never disappoints! Super quick service and the people there are so nice, it's also amazing to sit there and eat in the AC on a nice hot day! I love getting their carne asada burrito and their carne asada nachos normally but everything I've tried from their menu has been absolutely delicious! 10/10 always has me coming back!!!

Not only was all the food amazing, but the portions were generous and made for some great leftovers. My parents were in town so we were out to dinner together and we all got different dishes and each one was better than the next. The quesadilla was probably the best thing we had. Our server was attentive and quick while still giving time to be friendly. When they were out of a couple items for the drinks we wanted, she was ready with alternatives and always offered to at least double check in case there was something they could do. My dad even got a little preview of a new version of their Old Fashioned since they were in the process of phasing out the old one and were out of one of the ingredients.

It came with a yummy almond galleta dusted with powdered sugar. The coffee was perfect. I dipped my cookie in my coffee and truly it was the perfect bite plus perfect treat as I waited for my food because I was HUNGRY! Our food took a while to arrive it was a Saturday morning at brunch but it wasn't crowded. The wait was the kind of wait you do where you look at the tables around you to see who has food and who doesn't and wonder what was the seating order of the folks around you and if they got their food before you and why. So when my food arrived I was sooooo ready! I ordered the chorizo and crispy potatoes burrito. It looked great when it arrived! I strategically cut my burrito about a quarter of the way in. I knew I would at least eat a quarter but I knew I definitely wouldn't eat the whole thing and I didn't want to waste a perfectly good bite on all tortilla. I cut my burrito and put a bite on my fork and as I put my food in my mouth I looked down and find a long curly hair. To say I was disappointed was an understatement. I was disappointed for several reasons. 1. The bite I took was all egg and tortilla. No cheese no chorizo no potato. 2. I was starving! And 3. I knew I wasn't going to have anything to eat until after the other two people I was with finished eating and I could go somewhere else to get food. I didn't let it damper my mood. I showed the waiter who was very apologetic and took my plate away. When he walked away. It hit me I didn't tell him to not bring me anything else because I was going to eat a remade burrito. So I got his attention because I didn't want them to waste anymore food. Here is what I will say. To replace my food, I was given a pastry platter that was AMAZINGLY good! The concha was legit the best I've ever eaten. The banana bread was delicious with delicious toasted pecans which added a caramelized texture to the banana bread! No joke, it was so good. What I will also say is that I was visited with no less than 3 people including Gabriela herself who was absolutely apologetic about my experience and assured me it wouldn't happen again. What's also nice is that I wasn't charged for the food I ate which believe it or not has happened to me before MANY years ago. My peeps whom I was with absolutely loved their food. One had the Sopes and the other had the huevos rancheros. So while I have to be honest about my review, I really think this was a one off mistake and at the very least I would highly suggest ordering cafecito and pastries from Casa Gabriela!

We were having great conversation and catching up, just the normal things you do when you have a "girl date". Anyways, we ordered another shot to take as we were vibing out and enjoying our ceviche when we were told that "we've had too much", since we had not yet ordered our entrees. I have been here more than 20xs in the last 6 months. I've been HAMMERED, I've been sober, you get the point. Never once have I been told of this "policy". Never once have I been cut off or warned. From the second we got here, the bartender was rude. He wasn't the main bartender, but that's neither here nor there. Every interaction we had, he never made eye contact, never engaged, never NOT seemed annoyed to be there. Anyways, after being told that we needed to order entrees before we were able to get another beverage, I asked to speak to the manager. She came over a few minutes later trying to explain responsible service to us...my best friend and I are bartenders and have been since we were in our 20's. We're now in our 40's and are not sloppy. Anyways!! I am not sure where this came from; had we been acting intoxicated and embarrassing, not another word would have been said. We would have left with our tails tucked and many apologies would have been given. We will never go back. This "policy" has never been enforced in all of the times I have patronized the restaurant, and this fully ruined our evening. We understand responsible service and how to appropriately gauge a customer's level of intoxication and never once were we acting in a manner that would warrant such actions from their employees. Very disappointed by this experience.
