Did you notice the reviews? Yes that's right deserve to have 5stars. Hood food, fast service, and clean place. I love all their tacos especially birria, carnitas and adobada. Price is more cheaper but generous portion. I always stop by every Tuesday for 1.99 mini tacos .

Cockroach crawling out of our dinner delivery from Agave Birria.

We loved this place and have been eating there a few times since they opened. We had some delivered to our home on Jan 12 and what crawled out of the clamshell container that the quesadilla was in!?!? A baby cockroach! For real.

    Battered Fish Tacos

This place is great! Definitely one of the better options for authentic Mexican food in College Area. We ordered the battered fish tacos and it came with beans, cheese, chips, and rice. The rice was pillowy soft and the fish tacos were perfectly crunchy and tangy. Will definitely be coming back! The staff were also amazing and quick with service. Shoutout Carla!

Super dark and I mean dark, it'll take a minute for your eyes to adjust. Tapas style menu, we were a party of 4 and ordered: Squash blossom Relleno - it's the flower part of a squash plant and stuffed with mushroom duxelles which resembles a meat mixture with squash succotash. Outside is a corn tempura with a tomato base sauce. Pulpo-grilled octopus, one of the best texture and perfectly grilled skin with a chewy yet soft interior. The sauce has a slight kick and crunch from the corn nuts. Crab corn doughnut- this is their specialty and we were about to skip out but glad we didn't. The brioche bun had a donut batter with lumps of crab salad and corn mixture on top. El Festin- perfect for our party of 4 because it was a platter full of 4 Cheese quesadilla, 4 shrimp, 4 chicken slices, 1 jalapeño bacon wrap, ribeye. Flan-we should have each ordered one ourselves! Great flavors and texture, the top had ancient chocolate soil and had crispy corn nuts. Different but yummy. Overall, delicious food that came out so quick, great ambiance, we celebrated our birthdays and were each gifted candles with our names on the label. Truly amazing from beginning to end. Street parking only. The spots on the same block are metered but if you drive down to the second street towards residential, it's free.

Did as suggested, used an Uber to get there, didn't see any parking within close proximity as it is connected to the Lafayette Hotel and Club. Beautiful entry way, eyes definitely need to adjust to the darkness, lit candles everywhere; very church-like. The stained glass is beautiful. Tableware, tables, chairs somewhat Gothic. It did smell like candlewax, a bit overwhelming. Being able to see the open kitchen, was hoping to smell amazing dishes being prepared instead. I went by the reviews I read earlier, so we chose the Pulpo, perfect to share. Charred perfectly, tender on the inside on a spread of molè and bits of corn nuts, fabulous! Great presentation! Also tried the lentil spread, filling and plenty to share once again, tangy and spicy; our favorite appetizer. For a dish we shared the Chamoy bbq ribs, fell right off the bone; a tad salty. Corn ribs were tasty, wish they were fresh, a tad mushy and too salty. The pineapple Pico was just okay. We also ordered a passion fruit margarita and a Motomami, both were wonderful! Service was great, we were checked on often but then again it was a Thursday early evening and not busy yet. I would like to visit again and try other suggested dishes, when in town.

As it was our first time here and we thought the food portions would be small. Wrong. You definitely get your money's worth so be mindful when ordering. Capechana- decent - could be a shared appetizer if you want sea food. Agua Aguachiles- decent - could also be shared as an appetizer. To close it off we had steak and lobster. (Totally shareable) - more on the pricer side. But definitely worth it. Service was greag. Our waiter check in on us a few times but it didnt feel as if he was all over when we felt rushed so this was a plus. We were here for about two hours talking and enjoying the view. Flavors - delicious

We got seated quickly and got lucky with a side table and perfect view of the city. We saw it during sunset and at night with all the lights. They give you chips and salsa to start and we got the spicy margarita and strawberry margarita both were tasty and easy to drink. We opted to get the paella for 2 which takes a little extra time to prepare but was well worth the wait. It was so flavorful with all the seafood being a nice touch of salt. It was a little spicy but the cream sauce balanced it well. The rice was fluffy but crispy on the bottom. It could've fed 4 people probably. We got a complimentary slice of strawberry tres leches and it was the perfect ending to our meal. So incredibly light and not too sweet. Our server, Abdo made our dining experience even better with his friendliness and attention to the fact that we were celebrating something. All the staff we interacted with were pleasant and attentive. I'll definitely be back to try other things on their menu and would highly recommend!

I highly recommend pairing this with the chipotle sauce, which is offered along with all of the other sauces. The Battered Fish Taco and Tuna Ceviche Tostada is also a must. Every time I have visitors to San Diego and they want authentic Mexican Food I take them to Oscar's. I won't eat my fish tacos anywhere else! This place is definitely a local establishment. Note that parking is tight in the parking lot, but you can also park on the street around the corner. The food is worth the search for a spot if the lot is full. This eatery is legit!

Oscar's came highly recommended by a bunch of SD locals. I've been here three times and it hits…read moreevery time. Some highlights: -Mixto Ceviche: ceviche with shrimp and fish. Comes in a personal sized cup and can be shared as a group or as part of your entree. -Grilled Octopus/Pulpo Taco: I'm always a little hesitant about grilled octopus because it's hard to prepare and can end up being really chewy. It was grilled perfectly here! The chunks were big enough so you get the squid flavor. It also comes with a sweet/spicy sauce which was unexpected but really yummy. -Battered Fish Taco: my favorite dish! Huge flaky piece of fish that's fried really well. Not too much rough and you can really taste the fish. -Chips and Guac: fresh made guac! Get it as a side order and you can add to your tacos too. It can get really busy here. Our food took longer than expected and you have to wait around for a table too. Parking lot can be a hit or miss. Try to come during off hours!
