    Banana Pudding

Came to Cali today for some Lancaster style soul food first time let me tell you the lady was nice to me. That's all I'm gonna say about that. It took a really long time for my order to be filled. I was there at the 25 minute mark and I was there at the 50 and I was there at the hundred minute mark yeah it took a long time in the area is not good. Parking is terrible if I haven't seen this area before in Los Angeles I probably wouldn't have got out of my car and go get my order but is Lancaster so what can happen to you? Anyway I ordered oxtail mac & cheese, red beans and rice fried chicken cornbread and she gave me some bread on the side the chicken was good a little bit salty but it was extra crispy which I liked. I end the food was hot at 100 minutes. It better have been hot. The mac & cheese tasted like it had a little bit of chicken taste in it like broth or something. I don't really know it was OK the red beans and rice. I also ordered that I didn't get any gravy with my red beans and rice. I was very disappointed and it was a little bit dry because of that point and it was little I mean little I got more rice than red beans so I also got yams which, in my opinion were undercooked had a pretty good flavor. I guess the oxtails now I was disappointed for two factors. It wasn't spicy it needed a lot of pepper needed some salt, but I didn't have no oxtail gravy. What's up with that? she needs to be putting gravy with her food I also got the banana pudding now I think she uses condensed milk in that cause it was so sweet. It was ridiculously sweet. I had to check my sugar 2×3 times and I I'm not a diabetic. In the end I spent about 80 bucks and I was glad I really didn't wanna cook and the food wasn't that bad but for that price in that time I probably could've cooked the whole meal myself and didn't have to see crackheads run across my car anyway I hope she has a blessed restaurant. I think I'll go somewhere else in the valley for soul food. The ambience is OK but make sure you lock your car..

Fish & Chicken with greens- corn bread- cabbage

Unfortunately we ordered towards the end of the night and they were sold out of Oxtails. What we did get was: Meatloaf & rice dinner w/cabbage & green beans with potatoes. Fried fish dinner w/greens and corn bread Fried chicken dinner w/Mac & Cheese and candied yams. 3 dinners which was able to feed 3 and 1/2 fatties! I wanted to add pictures of the food before they broke into it but I got pictures of some of the plates. I also want to note I told the chef that my hunny was disappointed they had sold out of the Oxtails and she said there was a tiny bit left just not enough for a plate so she packed it up for him! It was clean and simple inside- I picked up. Good music, friendly staff. The flavor !!! Can you say 'mouthgasm' Seriously if you want some delicious soul food for a very reasonable price (HUGE plates) around $25 each. They also have deserts which we didn't try. Definitely going back PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE support this small business so she stays...

    Delicious food.

Service is terrible. Over $70 worth of food was ordered and never received. If I could give them zero stars I would.

This food is bomb. Auntie Peaches knows what she's doing and is down to earth. Loved the vibe and you can tell everything is from scratch.

Swindlers! Do not eat here! The one star and not recommended reviews are right!…read moreNow granted, I am hormonal and 6mo pregnant so I make an effort to go with grace into potentially upsetting situations and at the end of the day grubhub refunded us and bad experiences just happen from time to time. But hell all the damn way to the MF nah, can I not warn people away from this place...they double charged us $140 for an incomplete and inedible order that took almost two hours to get. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE EAT HERE, YOU ARE BETTER OFF AT A GAS STATION. Save your money. Options to consider instead: -A Costco hot dog ($1.50 w/ a drink vs $71 no drink) -Develop the ability to photosynthesize. -A well preserved cigarette on the sidewalk. -Gift a meal from this place to an enemy. I know the wait I'm in for with soulfood and I don't mind paying what's asked. I could go in about how I placed my order at 4:45 and did not walk out with my food until 6:30 because there was only one cook with mask hanging down, or how my order was still so incomplete that I was chased down to be handed lukewarm green beans and when I got home not one order had cornbread, or how the jambalaya was just tomato marinara weirdness and everything was blander than that Taylor Swift cover of Earth Wind & Fire, or how I saw store bought pies in their tins thrown on the stove. But what really matters is that I feel the need to at least got to the BBB site because this establishment is either disorganized to the point of reckless billing or just straight up thieving money. They should be ashamed to represent our community in ANY professional capacity. I selected the option to pay in cash through the app, but I didn't know it charged our cc from the grubhub account immediately. So when I arrived, I went to pay and the man pulled up my order and read it off exactly. Had to change the order because they were out of what I selected in app, so with the total change, I pay $70+ with a $100 and he's short change and promises to give me my $4 later. Wasn't a problem...until it was 6:00 and I still have no food or change and the man asks ME what one of the meals I ordered was. Um sir? Is it not on the ticket??? All that was on the 11th. Cut to today, theres a grubhub charge posted as of the 13th. I figured yelp glitched with grubhub somehow, because I selected cash and had to pay when went so I called grubhub. Grubhub refunded me immediately because it turns out even though I selected cash it charged my cc immediately and came through to the restaurant as PAID. This man went through my whole order and everything on a PAID TICKET and let me hand over cash. I even asked grubhub if the order would have come to them paid because of my selecting cash and she said YES, IT STILL WOULD HAVE SHOWN PAID. $140?! And I didn't even get the cornbread?!?! Never in my whole black like have I experienced blasphemy to this extent. What are yall a bank? I was so hot by the time I left I didn't even remember my $4. That's a dollar away from $5! It's a pandemic, people getting thrown to the streets and yall wanna scam people?! The desperation. Don't have a business you can't afford to manage properly, honestly. it was a hard day, my pregnant self was laying concrete and I just wanted to treat my family to some good food. I was so emotional about this at first I didnt want to post in anger. But today having to be refunded after finding out they knew I already paid was it. No one has time for these kind of shenanigans.

WILL NOT EAT HERE AGAIN!…read more SO MANY 1-STARS --- SHOULD HAVE READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE EATIN HERE!! Here's a picture of the entire plate. I called them as soon as I got to the car and they offered to give a complementary plate on Tuesday (they are closed on Mondays). NO THANK YOU. I might request my money back from my bank. I will take then back the entire plate on Tuesday. Ordered the fried chicken, green beans and red beans and rice. $13.99. Could not identify the individual chicken pieces, the red/bean and rice was spoiled (could smell it was "sour" when I opened the container), the green beans was soggy. I am a local REALTOR and host meetings - was trying this location to see if they would be a good spot to cater or order to go for our luncheons. NEVER AGAIN!

I tried the three piece fried chicken and the fried fish entrees. Both came with two fixin's (sides), in addition to cornbread / hush puppies or biscuitsI highly recommend the grits and okra with bacon. The flavors were on point in all aspects, and the meal was well balanced. Best of all is the good portions for the price point. The decoration inside is worth reading, featuring soul-food related comments pertaining to products like Wonder bread and Quaker Oats. The service was friendly, hand working, and attentive. Nothing unique, but a great execution.

Unfortunately, after our experience on the holiday evening, it may be a while before I give it another chance. First, I want to say that every staff member we encountered was genuinely pleasant. Our server was kind, apologetic, and clearly doing her best. The problem wasn't the attitude of the staff, it was that the restaurant was completely overwhelmed and simply not prepared for the holiday rush. Not ready at all. We were seated at 9:04 PM and didn't place our order until around 9:20 PM because it took that long just to get drink orders taken. Wanting to avoid any further delays, we ordered everything at once. Our meals arrived around 9:42 PM, which seemed reasonable, except my daughter's meal never came out. We informed our server and were repeatedly told it was "on the way." Fifteen minutes later, still nothing. We began sharing our food with our daughter so she could eat with us. We asked again and again, receiving apologies each time, but no meal. By 10:25 PM--more than an hour after ordering--my daughter's plate finally arrived. By then everyone else had already finished eating and were simply waiting while she rushed to eat alone. Thinking we were finally nearing the end, I requested our bill and ordered two slices of red velvet cake to go. Surely that wouldn't take long. Wrong again. While waiting, another large table from the East Coast asked to speak with a manager and described their own frustrating experience with delayed orders and lack of assistance. When the manager returned, I simply asked if we could please get our two slices of cake so we could leave. He apologized and went to retrieve them. It took 25 minutes to get 2 slices of cake and possibly longer if I had not stopped the manager. We finally walked out more than two hours after being seated, having spent most of that time waiting rather than enjoying our meal. To make matters worse, going a few minutes beyond the two-hour mark triggered another hour of parking charges, making an already expensive evening even more frustrating. I feel bad because I had built this place up so much to my family, and their first experience was disappointing. I know holiday crowds can be difficult, and I truly appreciate the staff members who remained courteous throughout the night, but management seriously underestimated the demand and the customer experience suffered because of it. I hope Fixins can address these issues because I'd like to remember the restaurant for its food and hospitality and not for spending two hours mostly waiting to be served. I had to take pics of my daughter with her head down on the table waiting on her food. Happy to share them privately.

I'm a longtime customer 20+ years deep ever since they had restaurants in Marina Del Rey and Mr Dylan the dad ran it. I have literally eaten at every location they have and the restaurant on Crenshaw is my favorite. Located on a busy street with limited parking the area is crowded with people. I walk up and immediately start drooling the smell of soul food in the air is very intoxicating. my go to meal is almost always oxtails or fried chicken with a side of dressing greens macaroni and cheese potato salad and candied sweet potatoes. Here's what I ordered. Oxtails Tender and delicious smothered in gravy seasoned to perfection. 10/10 Dressing Thick fluffy and delicious just like my mom made. And drizzled with gravy it's the bomb. I0/10 Macaroni And Cheese It's good but needs a little more seasoning but it's still delicious. 8/10 Greens Tender perfection and seasoned very well. 8/10 Potato Salad Delicious it's a must have part of my meal I love it. 8/10 Candied Yams Tender buttery and sweet. 10/10 Last visit I had Yellow cake and chocolate frosting it's soo yummy. 10/10 I didn't get any this time and regretted it when I got home. lol It's always super crowded at Dylan's so be prepared to wait and believe you me it's definitely worth waiting for. I'm having a nice drive back home to Long Beach until next time. Just me Shawn C.

Okay, I want to make it clear that I am not her to frivolously review a neighborhood restaurant…read more Small businesses are the backbone of our country, specially important and black, woman and minority owned. So here's my good and not so good. Good: the service here is amazing, friendly attentive and I watched every dine in customer receive extraordinary care. The portion sizes are huge and the whole restaurant felt like you were in someone's own kitchen on a weekend morning with all of the right smells in the air for a great brunch. Here's the not so good: it took 4 minutes shy of an hour to get lunch for 2 (2 order of chicken tenders, side of red beans and rice and an order of hush puppies ) prepared. Although the booths were full, most of the tables had their food, so it didn't appear to be a lot of tickets stacked up. When my order was finally delivered, and I took the10 minute drive back home, I opened the bag to fund 3 brown paper bags, wet, soggy and soaking in grease. Because the food hadn't been allowed to cool a bit and it was placed in a plastic bag with no way to vent out steam, every item was soggy and falling apart. The fries were wet and soggy, the chicken had all of the dry coat falling off and most the seasoning was pulled off of the batter that was left because of the water and steam. Additionally, the red beans and rice were so wet, they were almost soup. One of the orders had potato salad as a side, but to received overcooked soggy fries instead. The hush puppies were way over cooked, they had passed the golden brown cook level and were a black brown color and were sort of flavorless and really soggy from the heat of the plastic bag. I'm sure that most of this could have been avoided if I hadn't placed a to go order. But I'm leaving this review so that when you order from this little gem, you consider dining in or asking for the foot with plenty of lead time so that they don't rush, improperly pack the food for transit (let it cool off a bit) and have the time to make sure the order is correct, and cooked to a standard that best represents the business. Pomona needs Day-Days as a locally owned, black owned soul food restaurant. Switching from plastic to paper bags and giving the food time to vent will go a long way with quality for the customer. In the end the food tasked good, I'm sure was prepared with love, but fell flat on the delivery. All of that said, patronize this restaurant!!!!
