From my first visit (an accidental find), I was treated like royalty. I walked into this charming little establishment having no clue what to expect. The mural, Cali Real Food Only, intrigued me and I could not resist investigating. I was greeted by the manager who sat me at the perfect table, as I was dining alone. He paired me with Ed (short for Edmarie) who asked about my likes, dislikes, and possible allergies. She made suggestions which were spot on. When I ordered multiple items which were way more than I could eat in one sitting, she said, "You are here for the experience. I have boxes." My next visit she remembered my order and asked if I wanted it again or if I wanted to try something new. Each meal is a taste adventure. I have been multiple times, both alone and introducing friends to this South Tampa gem. Everyone has loved it. No matter the server, or the manager on duty, I have been treated like a special guest. Five stars all around. I don't know how they get the steak to be so tender, but they do. My younger son ate all the steak in his kids bowl. I got a base of sticky rice for him, which he ate a little. It might be worth me trying another base for him next time. I got the egg bowl with steak and a base of potato, it was so filling and so good. I had it for both lunch and dinner. My older son got a starter of herbed fries (which seems hand cut) and their version of a cheese pizza (they only have one size, which is medium. He ended up eating half of it.) I was a little concerned since it is a sourdough crust but it didn't taste strongly of sourdough and he really liked it. My husband always gets the same order, which is a steak kids bowl with greens. We also got chips and salsa to start. The chips are so thin and delicious. I could drink the red salsa, it isn't spicy at all. I would gladly come here anytime. They have a parking lot and were only moderately full on a Saturday at 1 pm. It's pretty casual inside, some people were dressed cute in dresses whereas others were in workout clothes. I really enjoyed this place before this huge menu overhaul. Now I'm sad they no longer offer Taco Tuesday deals or the Asian Salad that was my favorite. I visited over the weekend and got a bowl and while I think it was good I just don't think it was worth $20 after tip. The bowl I got was the spicy Brazilian with blackened chicken and avocado rice. While I do enjoy the interior remodel I wish they would have left the menu alone as it was fine as it was. Overpriced bowls at a fast casual place just don't do it for me. Also I asked if I can do half rice and half greens for my base and server advised I would just have to pay extra for an extra base - the bowl is expensive enough as is so I'm not gonna pay $1.50 for some mixed greens. Came here for Saturday brunch after we run a 5K. It a beautiful modern place. It's kind of in between a quick bite and seat down restaurant. I visited their other locations but this was a first time I came to South Tampa. They had a nice brunch menu, very large portions and affordable. Service was friendly and attentive. We had guacamole and salsa to start and enjoyed it a lot. Tortilla chips were fresh. My husband had a burrito which was delicious and large. He only was able to eat half. After trying the St Pete location and seeing there is one close to me in Tampa, we decided to stop in for lunch. The inside is very beautiful, it has a humble upscale vibe especially for this to be a more casual spot. I ordered the spicy Brazilian bowl and my boyfriend ordered one of the breakfast bowls that was on the specials. Both were delicious!! I didn't look at their outdoor seating, but it looked like they had a nice outdoor seating area. Restrooms: The restrooms were nice and clean. They had two single use bathrooms. Service: Our waitress was super friendly and welcoming. She gave good recommendations on what to eat. Our food came out quick. Food: They have tons of healthy options on the menu. I also thought their prices were very reasonable for the quality of the food. If you love healthy food options - come here! I tried their 'Spicy Rio Burrito', it was a burrito filled with turmeric rice, black beans, roasted corn, cheddar cheese, guacamole, cilantro, sambal, tomatillo salsa, and lime Caesar. It was delicious! I asked for the salsa on the side and it was the perfect amount of heat. It came with a side which I felt the wrap didn't need. Stopped in with a buddy before his flight and were pleasantly surprised. Our first spot we struck out so stopped in here on a whim and glad we did. We began with the chips and guacamole. The guacamole was average, run-of-the-mill guacamole and not to write home about. The chips, however, were incredible. They were seasoned with a tajin or some sort of spice that enhanced the profile. Well, this has been on my bucket list for some time, but the closing of EVOS forced my hand to try it even sooner since EVOS was my normal spot (RIP), but I'm so happy to have found a NEW SPOT that will be my new regular! Enter Cali, a healthy, but definitely indulgent restaurant that offers up wraps, salads, bowls, and (GASP) PIZZA!!! The first thing I zoned in on was the California Club wrap, which I paired with salad greens, and man, did I make a great choice. The wrap had a combination of tender blackened chicken, bacon, and avocado, and already right there, you know you can't go wrong. The flavors really sang as a bit into it, and even more so with their lime caesar. The lime gives the caesar and interesting and different kick. Half I used on the salad itself while the other half was on the salad greens. The service really nailed this one out of the park. They were very friendly, checked on me often from outside and made sure Muffin and I had enough water to get through the hot day. We were sitting out on the patio that had plenty of shade and fans blowing, but the sun was THAT HOT. They heard it was my first time, and one of the workers, approached (the chef, maybe?) to confirm that it was and asked me how I loved the food and to give me a Welcome cookie (s'mores!). Of course, I really did. I'll be back to be sure, probably getting the same thing, or probably going for some of their delicious pizza or maybe a bowl, I don't know. I went to Tampa for a day trip and I stopped into Cali for lunch. I went pretty early a little after 11 on a Monday so it wasn't busy at all. The hostess seated us and we were greeted by our server. The tables and silverware looked clean. The menu was easy to follow- there are bowls in different styles and you can choose your base and protein. I went with the Brazilian style with turmeric rice and steak. It came out within 15 minutes or so and it was perfect. The perfect portion, balance of toppings, and the steak was cooked medium rare- just how I like it. It was delicious and I felt relatively healthy afterwards - the food tastes fresh and it was made to order too. The chef came over to check on us, saying he heard it was our first time there. He gave us a complimentary cookie each, which was so nice and surprising! They were still warm and gooey melted chocolate. I'm a big fan of Cali - always have been, always will be! The issue is that I love one menu item so much that I've failed to try like.........ANYTHING ELSE. I've been loyal to the California Club Wrap for years. I swap the lime caesar with the citrus aioli and it is *chef's kiss* - the french fries here are also to die for, and I would eat them for every meal if I could. The wrap is simple - romaine, pico de gallo, bacon, guacamole, and I get it with the chargrilled chicken. Simple and delicious!
