Coast salad with blackened mahi mahi
Kim S.

The food was so very good! Had mahi-mahi tacos and a lovely salad with blackened mahi-mahi Flying out of Tampa in the morning, delighted to find this place close to our hotel. Staff was SO pleasant. Will definitely come back if we're flying out of Tampa. * [[HIGHLIGHT]]there's a sweet little park not very far away called Cypress point Park. We timed it perfectly for sunset. It was beautiful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

This is where culinary dreams go on vacation and forget to come home. Salty blue cheese, with nutty pumpkin seeds and fresh & juicy strawberries- heck yes! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's coastal chic meets "I've made it in life and now I'm treating myself." You walk in & BAM! you're hit with stylish vibes, ocean-inspired elegance, and a menu that reads like poetry.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The flavors are so well-balanced it's like your taste buds are doing yoga. Let's talk about the wait staff. These people are cooler than your cousin who DJs part-time and wears sunglasses indoors. Polite, witty, knowledgeable, and just the right amount of "I know you're not from around here but I'll still treat you like Beyoncé." Iconic. No Florida visit is complete without [checks notes] key lime pie !!!! Bright, tangy, and just tart enough to make your lips say "whoa" but your soul say "thank you." 10/10 !

Shrimp quesadilla

Food was excellent. I got the shrimp quesadilla and it was cooked perfectly. My boyfriend got the chicken sandwich and he said it was so good. It came with delicious house made chips. Our server, I think his name was Daniel, was so nice and attentive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Place is very clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Pleasantly surprised

Cuban bowl

Working in the area and wanting to grab a healthy lunch the menu looked enticing. I'm so glad we came. The service was fantastic with a professional but home town vibe which I loved thanks to Brendalee! The salmon bowl was extraordinary! I think the warm citrus vinaigrette really set it apart. But every single bite was perfect and delicious. My husband got the Cuban bowl and loved it ... Especially the fresh mango. We will definitely be back and will highly recommend it to others.

Amazing Salmon Bowl. Clearly items are fresh and made right

What an amazing Salmon Bowl. So very flavorful and amazing. Even the Chef came out to help a GF guest. What service. Great Job

The restaurant is open but there is only order off the menu with service from the kitchen. The buffet is no longer an option. They will customize the food from the menu but it is very, very limited. Eggs prepared a few ways, a few meat choices, (ham, bacon, pork or chicken sausage, and turkey bacon) The chicken sausage is very sweet. The breakfast burrito is loaded with eggs, meat and cheese. It comes with potatoes and a side of salsa. The poached eggs were cooked just like I like them, very soft and runny. The coffee is Starbucks and they also carry Tazo teas. Our server was efficient and brought our food to us as soon as it was cooked. Hot and tasty, I just wish there was a little more variety. Maybe some yogurt, cottage cheese, or grits. They were not anywhere on the menu and I am not sure if they could be requested. Might have to ask tomorrow morning as we are staying here at the Hilton Garden Inn another night.

Chicken panini

This restaurant located in the Hilton Garden Inn near airport. This is interesting to see a restaurant in the hotel. We were here for lunch. The food is not cheap for lunch and dinner after we look at the menu. As long they can provide a good food. We are good. We order the chicken panini and the Margherita Classic. The panini is good. Chicken was grilled. Accompanied fries was crispy. The Margherita is a flatbread top with chop steak with mozzarella cheese. It very good. Overall the food is good. The wait is a bit longer for the food. The reason is three stars is due to waiter didn't pay attention to the table. Even we try to flag him down. Lunch during office hour usually is short. They need to paid attention we try to paid and get put. It take us ten minutes to finally get his attention.

Seating area.

We were staying at a nearby hotel and this place was recommended by the front desk. I had the mahi tacos and my wife had the coast house salad with blackened mahi. Both were wonderful! Exceeded our expectations by far. The mahi is fresh delivered twice weekly according to the waitress. The restaurant was not crowded for a Sunday night and the waitress was very friendly. Prices were good. Located in the Hilton Garden Inn. Meals were made with care.

Im from Colorado, lived there my whole life, so I'm in no way a seafood snob. i ordered the Mahi Mahi and when I tell you it was the worst seafood I've ever had... It was obviously old and microwaved, no seasoning, no sauce and the price was outrageous. The service was MUCH worse than the food. the servers had attitudes, argued with my guests about their dairy allergies and then the waitress proceeded to invite another server over and blatantly talk very disrespectful about us right in front of us. The front desk worker was also extremely short with us and borderline rude. The only thing I know for sure are these workers are not properly trained in customer service and are not good with people. I never leave reviews but I had to go out of my way to write this so no one else's waits time or money on this restaurant, especially since there are many better options than this one in the area. The one star is for the ambiance, which was just fine. Attached pictures of my room key, and the restaurant coupon incase management has the audacity to say I wasn't there or this didn't happen. If they do, I will post my bill with the exact time and date of them this occurred. Try me if you want to. thank you.

Menu

Great restaurant! Stayed at the hotel and didn't want to stray too far for dinner, so we popped into this lovely restaurant based in the hotel lobby. We were met with friendly servers and great food. The perfect place to eat for a hotel dinner. I couldn't find the menu online so I took photos!

We were a group of 10 and our server was excellent! The whole staff really! We sat outside and enjoyed our food+ mimosas. There was a tv out there so i know if i ever go with my husband he can watch his games (gooooo sports) while i indulge in my mimosas. I'd been studying the menu ever since my friend told me we were going. I ended up going with the avocado tartine and added smoked salmon. It was delicious and went well with a day of heavy drinking!! We also ordered the grazing board for the table which was amazing. I loved the assortment of cheeses and snacks. The butter on the board was bussinnnnn! I was in heaven!! I should mention the bottomless mimosas were $25 and the bottles literally just keep coming! Safe to say we were all feeling nice and toasty by the time we left. We hung out for a while without even getting kicked out I'd love to visit again and try more menu items. The server mentioned the cubano is the best Cuban you'll have. Now I'm always a bit skeptical bc everyone says that lol but the cubano came out looking gooooodT! I didn't try it but my friend who ordered it loved it! Parking was easy and right outside. We parked and checked in pretty quickly with ease. Thanks for the awesome service and experience! I definitely recommend adding district south kitchen & craft to your list of boozy brunch spots!

I had prime rib sammich and then my friend got the grits with braised pork. Super excited for it and it was good. But I wouldn't go past good? I'm not sure. It was one of those ones where I for sure ate it all, I did like it but I was not wow'd. With the apps, they were outfitted with great sauce choices. Look at those plates. Two different sauces per plate. So in my mind, that means they most likely make their own ranch, honey mustard, etc. how exciting?! I ordered a ranch for my friend and I, hoping that it would be homemade and blow my doors off. Ranch came, paired great with the fires but then they charged me $2.75?! Yooo, did me dirty, I can't lie. All in all, I liked it here. I just don't know if I'll hurry back. Also, for two apps, 3 entries, was kinda expansive. Idk maybe I'm just complaining. We are in Tampa, I just didn't feel great looking at the bill.

Our table ordered many of the items on the menu as well as specialty cocktails and there's only one thing that wasn't impressive- the gulf fish. Otherwise, all items were delectable and provided complex flavors. My standouts were the pork belly, the beet and crab salad, the duck confit special, the hogfish (and I'm not even a fish person!), the chicken Milanese, and the toffee pudding. You must go here and try these dishes! Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I look forward to returning.

The inside is very spacious and whimsically decorated with a few different seating options: regular table and chairs but also couch/loveseats with tables and chairs. Our server was attentive and friendly and super knowledgeable about the menu and the plentiful gluten free options/swaps (they have gluten free bread). For brunch, we ordered deviled eggs, whipped feta, lobster Benedict, sweet potato hash, and the fish amandine. Everything was excellent. The fried oyster on the deviled eggs was inventive and super tasty. The whipped feta has pomegranate seeds sprinkled on top which made for a yummy sweet and savory bite. Hubbys sweet potato hash was flavorful and filling. The lobster bennys had quite a bit of lobster and the old bay hollandaise sauce was perfection. The fresh fish amandine was yellowtail snapper that came out with a beautifully crispy skin, a delicious brown butter almond sauce and sautéed green beans. This place was a hit for all of us and we cannot wait to go back again, even to try supper too!

So I was not surprised that the Tampa restaurant, Bazille, was also delightful. Located inside the Nordstrom Department Store in International Plaza, on the second floor, Bazille is a high quality establishment. I arrived, no reservation, in the evening and was quickly seated. My server was Dani. Dani was extremely friendly and a great server. Timing of Dani's visits were perfect, and I never had to ask for a thing, Dani anticipated all of my needs. I ordered the Salmon with Saffron Couscous and tzatziki and a chive biscuit. Both were absolutely scrumptious. I had seen this spot quite a few times when taking the escalator down from the 2nd floor to the 1st and vice versa while inside Nordstrom, but I figured it was just another horrible mall restaurant. I went to J. Alexander's the day before and the bartender there told me that Bazille has the best French dip in Tampa. Now, I still think Cooper's Hawk Winery has the best French dip, but this one was no slouch. Up first, the bartender told me their best drink is a $12 Happy Hour High Fashion (Old Fashioned) I gave it a shot and it was solid. It is served with 1 giant ice cube which is the way I like it. For an appetizer I had the Happy Hour $10.50 Heirloom Tomatoes & Burrata. I thought this was excellent like top notch that you would get at an expensive steakhouse. Then, I had the $11.50 French Onion Bowl. Not quite as good as Boulon or Council & Oak, but I liked it a lot. After that, I tried the $12 Kung Pao Brussels Sprouts. Yum, yum, yum! 2nd drink I tried was a $16 Smoke & Heat! OMG, delicious! I would come here to get this drink and the burrata. Seriously, one of my favorite mezcal drinks. And for the entree I had the $20 French dip. Now their French dip has a ton more toppings and is good, but I still like Cooper's Hawk best. I can't believe how unbelievably good this restaurant was. I will certainly be back here next time I'm at International Mall.

I had ordered a 9oz pour of wine and when my server was trying to serve me the wine, they accidentally spilled about 6 oz of wine on me, my purse, and my friend sitting next to me. I got most of the wine's trajectory on me and my whole left side was drenched. The server may have said sorry immediately, I didn't hear it, but I was also in shocked from having a conversation with a friend to having a black of cold liquid poured on me. I had to ASK for additional napkin, as I only had the one on my lap that was also wet. Our server came back, and asked if I was okay and did say sorry. They also asked if I get cut? Physically, I'm fine, but I'm uncomfortable - My left side is soaked, I smell like wine, and you didn't bring the napkin I needed...so I asked again, may I please get another napkin. Now, I get it, people make mistake. Thankfully it was white wine, but I sat in wet clothes for over an hour to dry. We were there from 12:30p-3:00pm. I expected sometime during that 2.5 hour lunch for a manager to come swing by the table and just check in. Did they? Nope. Did my wine get comped? Nope. But is a complimentary wine what I expected? Nope. The only expectation I had from this incident was for an upper management staff to check in. Would I be treated differently if it was red wine instead? Shouldn't have matter either way. I'm completely disappointed in the way this matter was handled. This is not the establishment where I would expect this lack of service. If you want to know about the food, it's fine and consistent, but you pay a lot for the small portion size, and can get better and more food across the street, and you may not get wine spilled on you to boot!

**A Disappointing Anniversary Dinner at Elliot Aster, Not the Michelin Level Experience We…read moreExpected** We visited Elliot Aster at The Vinoy last night to celebrate our anniversary, and while a few thoughtful touches stood out, the overall experience fell well short of what a restaurant with Michelin aspirations, and a $300 price tag, should deliver. I want to preface this by saying we are easygoing, forgiving people who rarely complain, so it takes a lot for us to leave a review like this. I was especially excited going in after reading the chef's bio, which references Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons. I dined there back in the late 90s, and it remains one of the best meals of my life, right up there with dinner at Alain Ducasse in NYC. That pedigree set my expectations high, though not unrealistic ones. Unfortunately, the execution at Elliot Aster did not come close to living up to that lineage. **The good:** The team acknowledged our anniversary with a card at the table and a glass of champagne with dessert. The filet was cooked perfectly, the gnocchi was well done, and dessert was excellent. **The not so good:** Nearly everything else. Getting to the restaurant itself was confusing. There was no valet greeting, no doorman, and no signage in the lobby pointing us to Elliot Aster, so we had to ask the front desk for directions. Once seated, service was disorganized from start to finish. We ordered cocktails while waiting for our table, and they took 45 minutes to arrive, after multiple follow ups and having to close out a bar tab before the drinks even showed up. My martini arrived nothing like the version advertised (one plain olive instead of the three blue cheese stuffed olives pictured on their own Instagram). Later, at the bar, a port and a beer sat forgotten for 20+ minutes before our server realized he had never brought them over. Our entrees also arrived before we had finished our cocktails, which felt rushed rather than paced for a fine dining experience. The octopus starter was well seared but the flavor combination felt scattered, and the truffle sauce on my filet had almost no truffle flavor, especially disappointing given the chef's pedigree. One small but telling detail: the decorative olive trees hanging over our table were visibly dusty, which was distracting and not something you want to notice at a white tablecloth dinner. No server mentioned a signature dish, made a recommendation, or referenced a sommelier. We never saw one on the floor. I also want to mention the dress code, or lack thereof. We understand we are in Florida, and a laid back approach makes sense here. But asking guests not to wear shorts or t-shirts does not seem unreasonable for a restaurant at this level. Gym clothes, which we saw on more than one guest, is simply not acceptable at this tier of dining. Having worked in the restaurant industry myself, I understand things go wrong, but this was a long list of avoidable missteps, not one off bad luck. Given the chef's background and the promise it suggested, this was a real letdown. The bar itself is gorgeous, and we had genuinely hoped this would become a regular spot for us, especially given the lounge menu. We were hoping for something reminiscent of La Belle Vie in Minneapolis, a place that held a special spot in our hearts. Unfortunately, based on this visit, we cannot recommend Elliot Aster or The Vinoy.
