I've been to Calibella Bakery a few times before to pick up Too Good To Go, but this time I came in to order a custom birthday cake, and I'm so glad I did! Jorge was incredibly helpful throughout the whole process. We flipped through an old-school cake design book together, and he helped me customize the design and choose the flavors. The cake came out perfect, and everyone at the party loved it. It was as delicious as it was beautiful. I also have to give a shoutout to their cassava bread because I am absolutely obsessed. It's so flavorful and one of my favorite things to pick up whenever I'm nearby. Such a cute local bakery with wonderful people and amazing baked goods. read more

Came in for their pizza which is a guava with cream cheese in an open crust sandwich. Also tried their apple turnover. It was delicious. Highly recommend. There was nonstop people coming in and buying their pastry and coffee. Note that it is tough to find parking but saw many people double park in the bus stop in front of the store. read more

I purchased some pastries today for myself which included a cannoli and a guava pastry. However after eating one bite of the cannoli I realized there was a weird taste to it. So I turned on my flashlight to get a good look at the cannoli to find MOLD growing inside of it. I'm furious because I gave this business a second chance after my mom had gotten a serious case of food poisoning from here. I grew up getting food from here all the time and so when I came back to the neighborhood after some time; it's come to my realization that this business does not care about service nor cleanliness. All the five star reviews do not exaggerate, this bakery makes excellent food. Pan de trensa (braided bread) is baked fresh everyday and we're told that they usually sell out by 10:00am so we headed out and secured our loaf early for only $3. But let me just say that pan de trensa is no ordinary bread. It's egg bread stuffed with cream cheese and guava paste. It's then given an egg wash on top and coated with sugar. When you cut into this thing (wipes drool) the guava and the cheese oozes out along with the steam rising in the air. Soooooo good!!! I didn't know such amaziness existed until my aunt introduced me to it. The first thing I'm going to do when I get back home is look for a Columbian bakery and ask for this amazing bread! So thankful to live nearby. We absolutely LOVE getting Calibella on weekend mornings. We get the same items depending on if it's for just us two or if we have guests (we especially love getting Calibella when people are visiting NYC.) The girls behind the counter are working so hard and are so nice to me, even though I'm the only one in their not speaking Spanish. The three stars is solely for the food! It's good, it's not all that, just good. The service is awful. The food although good is served cold and get this... they charge for hot sauce even though you've made a big order! What is that.? .25cents per little hot sauce container. I was baffled. While I'm hesitant to start a gringo takeover of another excellent Latin American food hub in this part of Bushwick, I have to rave. This is one of the better Colombian bakeries in the city and it's not even in Queens! The breads are richer here and the ladies are always friendly. The classic Colombian snack from Cali is pan de bono. It comes in two forms--a soft ball and a doughnut shape. Made with yucca and cheese it is perfect dipped in café. For a sweeter treat try the pan with guava and cheese. Come, be polite and leave in love with your pan. read more

Super friendly service. The menu is decent and I haven't tried everything yet (my physique thanks me) but the donuts are very good and the cannoli looked amazing too. They have canned beverages, lots of seating and the ladies behind the counter are really nice. I want to try everything eventually...and now I have a reason to join a gym. read more

My favorite local Colombian bakery! Love their pan con queso, almojabanas, arepas and big rolls with cheese as well. Also the ones stuffed with cream cheese & guava paste are good if you want a sweet kick in your bread. Chicken empanadas are pretty good as well. I'm not a fan of their sweets but some of them are not bad. However the only reason that I'm deducting a star is because I had a rather terrible experience with their layer cake, it had a metallic taste to it that rang serious alarms to my body. I had to dump after one bite. Hoping it was some kind of a mistake. Overall great place to pick up your morning bread with coffee! read more

Feeling good feeling great every time I walk past the line at Variety and head to this bakery instead. My favorite thing to get is the pan de trensa (sweet bread with guava paste and cream cheese. Amazing. Although borderline too saccharine once it's cooled down to room temperature. But still, amazing.). Also, this place has seasonal decoration down pat. Martha Stewart could pick up some tips. This was my favorite place to go to until I got a moldy slice of cake. I told the cashier lady who told the baker/chef? He came to the fridge and started to look at the cakes and then came to me asking what was wrong. I told him my cake had mold and he inspected my cake and took it away and then ask if I wanted another? Smh why would I want another one and risk it being moldy? I said no thank you and left. This is one of my favorite Colombian bakeries in the city! The flan and the cheesecake are delicious, and the coffee is always great. I recommend also trying the mil hojas, which is topped with a layer of arequipe. Many places really rip you off on the arequipe, but this place is so generous with it, I love it. WOW! This place is AMAZING!!! The empanadas are always super fresh and are really homemade, I have never had ones that could compare. I don't know where their coffee comes from but I'm officially addicted! One of my favorite desserts has to be the tres leches.... It's so moist, fresh and the portion is for two (but I devour it all on my own)! It's nice to see a family owned business and btw they were open through out the entire snow storm :D make sure to get coffee, fresh juice, empanadas, tres leches and a large loaf of bread for home. Generally speaking, it's hard to find a bakery/coffee shop that has both a warm, inviting atmosphere AND cheap prices (it's usually either a dive with amazingly cheap and tasty items or a place with great ambiance, where you want to hang out for hours, but the prices reflect it). Calibella Bakery has both the cheap prices and the cute, if kitschy, decor. In terms of baked items, I've only tried the arepa de maiz, but it was just the right amount of sweet and the perfect accompaniment to my coffee. read more
