This bakery is just ok. Sometimes their cake slices are just too cold, or have an odd taste to it. The bread is alright too. Twenty years ago, another bakery used to be at the exact same spot. I'm actually surprised of all the negative reviews i see here....this place has an onsite bakery so the bread is ALWAYS fresh....the service is great! Authentic Mexican food and MORE! My family and I are always satisfied with our order. Try the steak Torta sandwich for the win! I work around the area at times and this is my go to breakfast place! The wait can be a little long with the morning rush so call ahead for pick up if you're in a hurry. The staff is quick and efficient all the time. My go to is the sausage, egg and cheese on a roll. SO GOOD! And for the price (I think it was $6) it's HUGE! You get a bang for your buck compared to a deli SEC. Everything else on the menu looks delicious as well. But I'm a stickler for the SEC.lol. read more

This is usually a plus in my book, but this caused the bread to get soggy, which is a big hinderance when eating a sandwich. No one likes soggy bread! The empanadas were passable? I ordered for pick-up, the store was extremely busy and there's no limit to the # of people in the premise during COVID-19 which is concerning. When I took my first bite, there was something hard and I discovered that I had staples in my food. I was able to get a refund for my food; however, I overheard the cook saying it's impossible. Princesa's has some of the best Mexican food in all of Brooklyn! The chicken tostadas with fresh avocado, queso fresco, and spicy green sauce are to die for, and don't even get me started on the chicken noodle soup. I get it delivered every time I'm sick (and it works like a charm!) They serve it with a plate of cilantro, lime, and onions, and it's probably some of the most flavorful and delicious soup I've ever had. I'm sorry, I have gone here so many times and it's always a hit or miss. Today was the last straw. Their fries are garbage. Avoid them. Skinny, hard,- and tasteless. No amount of salt or ketchup can save these frozen fries. Gave them 4 chances The burgers are garbage. Soggy, mushy, and wet. Why??? Gave them 2 chances Today I came in for a large coffee (which they normally get wrong but I try to deal) I asked can I please get a large coffee, a little light, COLD milk please instead of hot milk. I hate hot milk in a light coffee. WHY bother ordering a LIGHT coffee if you are still going to get it steaming hot? The lady tells me 'it's going to be a little cold, is that okay?' I answer back 'yes' and explain again. 'Just a little light with cold milk. Thanks.' How the F can you mess this up? I ended up receiving an ice cold coffee. This idiot poured ONE THIRD of coffee into the cup and poured cold milk to fill it up. I even told the lady in Spanish how I wanted it!!! I asked her what kind of coffee is this. She sounded like she was about to give me lip, but offered to replace it. I had to tell her no thanks because pouring a light coffee is just too difficult for them. The first messup is okay. When I went back in to tell them about my issue, they said that they couldn't do anything about it, and they refuse to give me a refund just because. El Carousel Bakery was closed down and a new bakery and eatery called Princesa Bakery Restaurant has been opened in its place by a new owner. I went to Princesa Bakery Restaurant because I needed an emergency birthday cake and was pleasantly surprised by their willingness to accommodate me and have a large, Disney themed birthday cake ready for me in less than an hour. HOWEVER, I witnessed one of the decorators working on my cake bite off the tip of the cornet he had just made and then hold it in his mouth prior to using it, a totally unsanitary and unsafe practice. There were also new cake boxes strewn on the floor behind the counter, with used empty plastic cups on them. This lack of attention to cleanliness and appropriate food handling procedures mars an otherwise clean looking, well stocked bakery, cafe, and restaurant with a focus on Mexican fare. read more

The establishment may loom a bit outdated but that is not what is important here. This is where the local Spanish community eats. The coffee is freshly brewed...each cup! 1.35 for freshly brewed coffee and boiled milk! Starbucks can't touch this with a 10 foot pole. I enjoy their coffee too but locally...this is the spot. I came here the week of my daughter's and sons party to order a carnival themed cake. I spent about a half hour talking to Juan in choosing the cake designs. On one cake it had a fondant clown cake which he charged me $95 and the other cake that had two clowns sitting on it was also suppose to have balloons in the back to fill up the cake he charged me $65. The day of the party my father picked up the cakes for me and imagine my shock when I was setting up the cakes that the balloons were missing and the other cake that was suppose to have fondant had the colors painted on. Very disappointed in how I was told one thing and paid for the services and completely got half of what I wanted. The cakes were delicious but very upset at the end results of my cake designs. It's customer service isn't top par but who cares if you're grabbing something quick and going about your business. Some nice white sauce, lettuce, and tomatoes with white cheese. For $6.50 is a really good deal, it was sooo big that even though it tasted great, I ended up sharing it with my dog and cat. Then, they also offer natural blend juices, but I chose to try their coffee. I am so spoiled to my own coffee that I don't like almost no other coffee, but hey, good thing that I love to try new things, because the coffee was just RIGHT ! soft taste, real coffee taste, no the woodchip tastes of other place's coffee. When you walk in, there is a breakfast menu on the left wall, prices are really low, so low that you can get breakfast for $5.00 or less, now this is my type of prices :) Then further down in the wall, there is the menu for more heavy, lunch type of meals. Leaving a better review because the place has cleaned itself up. The cheese cake with strawberries on top is pretty awesome. They are really nice about putting writing on the cake and they do not charge extra. They even accommodated my kind of silly request to have writing on top of the strawberry sauce for a birthday by placing a plastic strip on top. They have a lot of inexpensive food items. I like their breakfast sandwiches and Cuban sandwiches. The place is always pretty full and people seem to enjoy it. I agree with 3 1/2 stars but since I was guilty about my 2 star review before, I bumped it up a notch. :) read more

The Bakery part of the name here kept me away for years. I'm no fan of sweets in the general and the muy ducle creations found South of the Border are particularly far afield of my preferred flavor palette. But this year I'm re-dedicating myself to trying some of the hole in the walls and longstanding local eateries with a few blocks of my apartment, so I went inside on a recent Sunday afternoon. I would describe the ordering system as supermarket deli minus the numbered slips of paper that keeps everyone in line. There's a very long glass case and three or four women working behind it, running up and down taking orders as people are able to shout them out. Sweets, cakes and savories are all ordered from the same place. There's a surprisingly deep menu of work-a-day Mexican fare, from tacos to sopes, quesadillas and breakfast foods like huveos rancheros. There's also a selection of American food, or the kind of American selections you can find served in Mexico in a quasi-American style (the confusing by-product of centuries of cultural exchange.) I went with the enchiladas verdes, which came sides of hearty frijoles and bone-dry (that was slightly improved by mixing the salsa verde on top it and in with the beans, but still came up short). The rice appeared to be reheated or scooped from a large, too-old communal bowl, but the enchiladas were nicely flavored and scorching hot. There's a huge turnover here, as families from nearby apartment buildings and houses came in for a snack, dessert or even an entire meal to go. The tables turned over fast, too, in more of counter style than a classic restaurant situation. Clearly there's something about the place that people like, I'm afraid I found it just OK. read more

they actually have really good smoothies, which they call milkshakes. they're milk, ice, a little sugar, and whichever fruit you want. which is pretty awesome to find in the hood. it's like our own little mexican jamba juice. and you get to support local business! i once ordered delivery from here and it was good, and fast, and brought by a kind of cute boy. when all the other mexican places were too busy or refused to deliver $12 worth of stuff, they did us well. pretty basic but filling mexican food. on par with all the other spots around here. the baked goods don't look so hot, but i can't say from personal experience. read more

Try the milkshakes! I had a good experience here. Ordered a burrito and it was made fresh for me at the grill behind the counter. Added a papaya milkshake and called it a solid lunch. The shake was delicious, but the burrito while large was only mediocre. While eating I did get to see a number of customers pick up their custom cakes.
