    Prune donut
    Jennifer L.

We were walking around in Williamsburg and stumbled across Northside Bakery. This is a Polish bakery, complete with a hot food bar, market items and baked goods. The hot food is ordered by the pound, and varies daily. We tried the perogies, sausage, potatoes and meatballs. Our favorite was the sausage. For the baked goods, we tried the prune donut and the coconut donut. Both were sweet but light. The prune filling is very strong, so you should only try if you are a prune fan. Overall, a nice and different experience for all. Staff all seemed to be Polish, so it seems pretty authentic

We had just finished lunch with some good friends. After lunch, they told us to walk around this cute neighborhood, called Williamsburg. Luckily, I did and stumbled across this small place. I was intrigued and poked my head inside. The delicious aroma of the bakery was so inviting so I walked in. They were super friendly and patient. I was looking at the pierogies as I've never had them before. I ordered a little bit to try. OMG! These were delicious! I did not know what I was getting, but they didn't have a lot left in their display case. The sour cream along with the meat and potato pierogies. I was in food heaven! So good. The skin isn't too thick, just perfect.

These donuts are soooo good. Ran here with my run club for early morning donuts. I tend to go for powder donuts so chose the powdery one without knowing what filling was inside--surprise me. I didn't have much expectations but oh my word, it was so good. It's crispy on the bottom and pillowy soft on top and the filling was a sort of apple compote that crept up after a few bites in. I inhaled it and immediately went back in to get one for the road. Run (like we did) don't walk here!

Came in here after eating some falafel to get a dessert. Wow this place has so much to offer. I settled on an eclair that was satisfying and not too sweet. I would totally return if I'm in the neighborhood as they have an extensive offering of food and desserts. They even serve coffee and have a small non perishable grocery offering all the way from Poland. I loved listening to customers and staff chatting in Polish while ogling at all the desserts. Prices are incredibly reasonable. And staff are friendly and efficient.

    Lamington and prune donut

I got a glazed donut with prune(!) for $1.85 and 4 'lamingtons', which they called kokosanki for $2.69 (it's by pound). I'm trying to find lamingtons in NYC after having my first ones in Maine (of all places), and this place came up. The lamingtons were good and the cake itself was very moist - a nice treat that wasn't too sweet, but it didn't have the same allure that the Maine bakery had. The glazed donut was very good and yeasty when it came to the donut itself - the filling was indeed very pruney and thick, and didn't complement the donut too much. I would come back here if I'm in the area, but I wish there were more signs of what the items were, as I had to ask them to basically explain all the pastries that they had.

I was passing by this bakery on a late Thursday evening so I decided to stop in and try a muffin. They were closing soon so the options left were limited but I purchased a blueberry muffin for about $3. It was pretty large compared to usual muffins & still tasted fresh when I ate it the next day. Based on the other reviews I read about this place it seems like they have great breads/pastries so I would definitely go back to try some other items.

Jelly buns, but where is the jelly? Lol
    Vitaly S.

So, I bought a few things from them, and I liked it. Today I bought jelly buns with no jelly. Picture attached, cone that has more salt than sugar and a stale croissant. I tried to call them and politely advise to talk to a baker. Was told by a woman with Eastern European accent (just like mine :) that manager isn't there, she doesn't care, and if I want to, I can leave a 1 star review. And that is what I am doing. For a future, if a polite regular customer calls with a concern, you listen to a concern instead of telling him that manager isn't there and you don't care!

    Paczki

I used to live in Wrocław and this place was so good! Everything is also reasonably priced - 1.85 for a paczki. They also have a bunch of treats, a hot bar and bread options. Will definitely come back!

Miam miam [ENG] This review is only for those with food experiences or want to know how is the food is services and you new in town. I'd place my order with TooGoodToGo App and never have eaten at this place of business. I want to see what dinner options they do have. Yes, they have tons of bakery goodies but I'm on the healthy side of things, and from what I saw in shop, Yummy! But, I'd came for the dinner option. I was happy greeted with a smile and the exchange was fast and I was out in no time. But the food was excellent but I think one of the dishes was meatloaf "I don't eat meat" so donation it to the community fridge few blocks away. But, it look well cooked and hope someone enjoys it. But those two Couscous wrapped in cabbage leaf wraps were "on my panda" so darn good. The soup with noodle and carrots was not and light on the sea salt. "I'd also enjoy the soup and noodle" Next time, maybe see what they have to give in the Bakery Department, but until then this as been a Panda Review and Food make everything sad go away. Yum yum

We decided to grab a few pastries in the neighborhood on our way to dinner. This place never disappoints the pastries and breads are always so absolutely fresh. The young ladies behind the counter are extremely helpful and answer any inquiries with a smile. The location is meant to be an in and out establishment with a bench outside to sip your coffee and people watch. There is a plethora of choices in both the pastry display and the bread shelf. The price point is fair, the establishment is very clean and the service is extremely efficient. We purchased a cream filled phyllo pastry, a chocolate croissant and a Polish raspberry preserve donut. All the items purchased were very good. This is a neighborhood staple so, go get some of everything.

The space is relatively small, with a line inside and outside and a few tables outside. The length of the line and wait time varies based on the time of day and if you go on a weekday vs weekend. Go early if you don't want them to sell out of anything or purposely go a little later if you want one of their lunch sandwiches on focaccia. I have had the tomato and garlic focaccia twice now and each time it has been exceptional. Minor critique, the slices of garlic could be a bit smaller. I also had the shakshuka focaccia which is divine and I would absolutely recommend both. I need to come back to try their sandwiches as well. I am not a sweets person, but everyone I know loves their pastries. Getting someone a gif tcard here makes for a great gift.

I'm usually more of a savory girlie but all the sweet items we tried were great, especially the rhubarb croissant and the earl grey morning bun. I really enjoyed the focaccia sandwiches (smoked salmon and pea/mint/feta were elite) and the artichoke green garlic slice. The flavor of the sesame stirato was excellent but the bread itself was a tad too chewy for the filling we got with it (tuna salad), so that style probably works better with the jambon beurre. Will definitely be on the rotation whenever I'm in the city -- would love to try some of their seasonal/limited edition items one day, though not sure if I have it in me to brave the lines that can form on the weekends, lol! We'll see :)

It is so clear that they use incredibly high-quality ingredients and carefully curate each component, which is exactly why everything comes together in such an elevated way. The tomatoes reminded me of the ones I grew in my garden during California summers as a teenager. Perfectly salted, layered over soft, not-too-tart feta. The focaccia was made with beautiful olive oil and, while a bit chewier than I usually prefer, gave the sandwich a satisfying bite. I had to close my eyes while eating it just to savor it. The chocolate cherry almond croissant... wow. Such a creative combination, and it did not disappoint. Soft, buttery, and filled with a sour cherry compote that reminded me of a cherry cordial from a box of chocolates. 5/5. Hainsley, who helped me, was exceptionally lovely. Everyone even in line was very nice, the vibes were awesome. I'll definitely be back to try the spicy tofu sandwich and the heirloom tomato tart!

While they didn't have their full selection available, there were still plenty of pastries to choose from. We ended up getting the vanilla kouign amann and the chocolate PB&J croissant. The kouign amann was flaky, buttery, and beautifully caramelized. The chocolate PB&J croissant was easily our favorite. It was filled with rich, decadent chocolate and a layer of jelly that balanced everything out without making it overly sweet. My significant other hasn't stopped talking about it since! We're already looking forward to coming back to try more.
