My boyfriend and I were looking to move from our apartment in Brooklyn closer to work in Manhattan near my job. Having spent those countless nights on street easy and browsing listing I came across a listing I fell in love with. I contacted Chezi Zarur(a.k.a SUPER AWESOME AGENT) and I was surprised at how fast he was when responding to my inquiry. Chezi was very informative and knew the city like the back of his hand. He asked my boyfriend and I what we were looking for, our price range and when we wanted to move. We met up and he explained everything to me, he said he can show me the listing I wanted and also had one in my mind which he said I would love even more. Hesitant I agreed to look at the other listings..I fell in love with the building and the layout of the one bedroom. He wasn't done yet and said before I make any decisions he wanted to show me a few more to make sure that was the apartment I wanted. Having the opportunity to work with and close on an apartment with Chezi has been so easy and quick. He helped me find exactly what I was looking for and I highly recommend dealing with him if you are looking to move in the City. I can guarantee that he's not like the rest of the Brokers in Manhattan who just want to make money off there clients and put them anywhere...he actually cares that you are making a good decision and looks for ways around brokers fees etc. Great Broker, Super nice and caring! This is a legit review and I'd love Caliber to benefit from my support as they really have been of great help, so I'm posting again: Last year we were looking to move in order to be in a better UES school zone for the 2017/18 school year. We are not new renters here and already used NYC brokers for our last 3 Manhattan moves, in other words we are very well versed on the Manhattan rental landscape. Caliber had been by far the best company we worked with: they listened to our needs, helped us refining it and only showed us apartments that matched the majority of our criteria AND budget (without telling us to compromise). Thanks to them we landed our cosy family nest on East 85th and have been enjoying our balcony and amazing skyline view since then. read more

Please be careful with this broker. Double check all apartments offered by them, since at our last inquiry 3 out of 3 apartments were just posted, but not available or were not the actual apartment of the pictures and description. We checked more of their places with our main broker and many of them turned out to be fake. The broker we contacted, Ysabel Banon, was nice, but she was very slow in responding and after several calls and emails, I never heard back from her again. Absolutely the least responsive and least helpful company I've ever *tried* to work with. I contacted lynette about an apartment she had listed. I initially tried sending a text. After 3 days of not hearing from her, I sent an email instead. It still took her over a day to respond. She said the apartment was available and asked when we could come see it. Both my boyfriend and I sent her a reply, asking to meet the following evening. *** crickets *** A full FIVE days later we got a response, apologizing for the delayed response and asking if we were still looking. Me "We are!" Lynette (THREE DAYS LATER) - "what is your budget" Refusing to give up on lynette, I tried texting her again. This time it was bait and switch. "That one has rented... but i have these others ..." Lady, I didn't move to NYC yesterday. But fine. I told her our budget. Our move date. Our preferred neighborhoods. She said "Let me see what I have." That was Friday. Last Friday. Its now Tuesday. Needless to say, we rented something else. A sweet 1 bedroom in Park Slope. half a block from Prospect Park. I find it funny that all the positive reviews of this company are by individuals with only a review of Caliber lol I contacted a broker from this agency after seeing a studio on the UWS on craigslist. It was supposedly pet friendly, modern and in an elevator building and within my budget. I expressed to the broker that I was only interested in apartments on the UWS initially, yet he contacted me a day before telling me to meet him at 37th street because he wanted to show me a place there. 37th is a far cry from the Upper West Side. He then announced with no prior warning that the place on the Upper West Side I couldn't view today, he couldn't contact them ... which makes me think it never existed, since I expressly said it was the only reason I was contacting him. Took me to a place on 70th and Broad, $1000 dollars over my budget. What was the point? I tried to be polite ... perhaps the kid hadn't graduated kindergarten. Perhaps by expressly stating my budget I wasn't being clear enough? Said I'd think about it, but just wanted to get the hell out of there. He all but ran out of the building ... clearly he had another pressing bait and switch around the corner. I also failed to mention that he made a point to tell me that because I have a pet, (a 10lb dog) it would be very hard to find an apartment in NYC ... ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! EVERYONE HAS A DOG IN NY!! He also made the grand statement that all studios were one size in New York ... huh?! ... and if I went further uptown or downtown it would make no difference to the price. I'm not writing off the whole company here, but judging by the reviews I am pretty sure I could ... But this was NOT a good experience. read more

We just experienced an unbelieveable "bait and switch" from Jennifer Peterson at Caliber. The apartment was advertised as: "Lux Elev Bldg: First floor features beautifully renovated eat in kitchen with dishwasher. Walk in closet. Living room can fit large sectional sofa as well as dining table. Upstairs features large queen size bedroom with another walk in closet!! $2550". Too good to be true? Of course, but curiosity got the best of us. We were told the apt we asked about was JUST rented (imagine that)... but we can see an even better apartment in the building for $2800. Fine. The apartment we were shown was NOT a luxury elevator building; NOT an eat-in-kitchen; there were NO walk-in-closets; living room could NOT fit a large sectional sofa OR a dining room table; pictures did NOT match the pictures on the ad. We were told by Jennifer's assistant that the standard closets in the apartment were considered "walk-in-closets". False. Advertising. Steer clear. This is the 2nd time I saw an apartment shown by Caliber Associates and the 2nd time I've been duped by them. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. read more

Ashley Newman of Caliber Associates is by far the most considerate, helpful, and genuinely caring broker I have ever come across. The torturous process of finding an apartment in NYC was not nearly as difficult or painful with Ashley's help. I have heard (and experienced) many horror stories of brokers lying to you and being quite rude and harsh if you hesitate to sign or try to bully you into taking an apartment. Ashley is the polar opposite of that. I cannot recommend her enough! read more

I am obligated to post a positive review here because I had a nightmare of an experience with another broker at Best Apartments. We met Cecilia, and we have nothing more than praises. - She asked us what we were looking for. She showed us two buildings that met our needs. - She said it was very competitive as we saw other brokers looking at the same apartments. She waited an extra hour and half with us so our other roommate could also see the apartment. - She called us that night, and said someone else put in a bid for our original requested apartment, but submitted a bid for our second, and we immediately got the apartment - She was very responsive with emails/phone calls - She was incredibly knowledgeable about the city. I grew up in NY but she could tell us interesting facts about the neighborhood and point us to the local pubs. I can't speak for the firm, but I can definitely say that if you deal with anyone here, you should deal with Cecilia. She is the absolutely best and was able to find us an apartment within a few hours. (After dealing with several nightmare brokers, I can honestly say she is the best) read more

Terrible experience. I arranged to view a property on a Friday after work, the agent said any time before 7pm would be fine. We locked in a 6pm time slot, however at 5:45 still had not received any note to make sure someone was there. I decided to call just before 6, when the agent told me he only works till 5pm, despite texting me to say any time before 7pm. However we arranged a date for the next day and a calendar appointment was set, I was still keen to see the place. The next day, I was scheduled for a 4pm viewing. I got a text at approximately 3pm saying could I push back to 5. No problem. At 5pm, I reached the destination after crossing town for 30 minutes, no sign of the agent. Agent did not respond to text or several phone calls, so I was left stranded at the unit, tired and frustrated after a day of viewings. It was only until later that night I got home, I saw an email saying they had been busy with other clients, however communication all along was by text and phone. Needless to say, I am very disappointed with this experience and would not recommend this company. read more

He is extremely knowledgeable regarding all aspects of renting including areas, buildings, various amenities, apartment values, and even how different landlords and management teams operate. He showed us multiple apartments (on short notice) that fit within our very specific desires and specifications. My husband and I have been apt hunting in NYC. I have lived in the area for approx 10 years and have never been so disgusted by a real estate company/brokers in my already underwhelming experience. Initially I contacted Kyle via emal, text and voicemail, but never got a response and still have not... i guess he doesn't care for business... then i contacted Ross "Raz" Kaplan who was very responsive and seemed to be interested. I spent a lot of time looking over listings so was very familiar with what was "Available" on the site and also only picked the listed "no fee apartments." my husband and i even sent a list of about 20-30 apartments we were interested in. "Raz" was suppose to meet us and then had to cancel so i asked him if he could have another agent from caliber show us the apartments we were interested in staying within our parameters. He then contaced Aurelian; so far so good... however, we met auralien over an hour late from our scheduled appt b/c he had "an emergency." understandable, but we were on a time crunch ourselves and both of us left work early to make it to the appointment. to make matters worse, he showed us apartments way out of our budget and after wasting about another hour of our time , he said he had a fee and never even looked at the list that was given to him by his colleague "Raz." We were very clear we did not want to waste our time looking at those apartments with fees when so many had no fees. we walked away as with so many no fee apartments on the website, we were not interested in spending money on a fee... we actually considered one of his apartments. his loss. we then recontacted Ross as we still wanted to see the listings his friend was suppose to show us and never did. we met him and told him we were interested in the apartment he showed us and asked for an application as well as to set up a time the next day to see another apartment. that being said the apartments he showed us were at least $200-$500 more then what they were llisted as on the "Caliber" website... again false advertising. the next day we never heard back after the 2nd email and finally a text, he said he had an application on the apartment we had asked for an appliacation on and never received. This company is disgusting, lies about fees, and jacks up the prices of apartments that are clearly listed on the website. I would never waste my valuable time or money with such dishonest and people with such little caliber... the name of the company is such a misnomer. don't get lured in. run while you can. read more

I had the displeasure of meeting with a Caliber Associates realtor, Amy Cutler. I had seen a listing on the website and sent an email to inquire about it. The realtor responded but attempted to steer me towards other apartments in the area. I responded that I was only interested in the one listed and she finally got back to me. I set up a time to visit the place but when I got to the meeting place, Amy told me the place was already sold and we would be seeing another place. I protested that she should have told me this but she acted like this was normal. I believe she put up a phoney "too good to be true" listing in order to get business and left. I will never do business with scam artists like Caliber Associates and I would advise anyone looking at apartments in NYC to do the same. read more

Was shown an apt by one of their agents. Decided to look on Yelp reviews before I made my decision and found that I had the same problems and inconsistencies as other reviewers. After telling the agent that I wanted to look elsewhere, he cursed me out. I posted the texts onto Yelp and sent it to the leadership staff of both Caliber and GB Properties (which the agent said he was affiliated with). I got a call from someone at GB and she was very kind and apologetic of the situation. I got a call from someone at Caliber and he seemed to be more interested in covering for company's reputation than my horrible experience with the agent. The review where I posted the texts on Yelp was taken down after the companies contacted Yelp to remove them stating that I was indicating the wrong company, which I was not. I was told that the agent I worked with received a fine and was temporarily suspended from work. I wouldn't recommend this company. read more

Horrible people. I hate dealing with real estate agents for this very reason! If you don't mind the whole "bait and switch" tactic, then these are your people. If you don't want your time wasted however, then run for the hills. I was very specific about what I was looking for and yet they wasted my time by showing me stuff that was not in my price range, hoping that I was going to take it because it looked nice. WRONG! If I say I can only afford $3000, then $3000 apartments are what you should be showing me. None of the pictures on the website are real, just stock photos they get off the web to get you to come in. Don't believe these people.There was some Israeli guy that was the worst. He was extremely rude, loud and just flat out annoying. I overheard him bad mouthing a client that was a little indecisive. It was honestly a pleasure to have Ernest as my real estate agent! He was a breath of fresh air. Apartment hunting in NYC can be dreadful but with Ernest it did not seem like a chore. From the beginning he made sure he understood what I was looking for and I felt as if he genuinely wanted to help me find the right apartment. I was looking to find an apartment within a very short time frame and he really put in the time and effort to take me to view the ones that were available. He always responded promptly and was great at answering any of my questions. Even after finding the apartment, he was a great resource for getting approved and having the lease signed. To be told, it was not ready, the no fee apartment has a fee (lied) and they would show me another apartment for more money then listed. This was the big bait and switch. Their listings are fake and it's a bait and switch attempt. I've emailed multiple brokers from this firm and they either don't respond or make fake meeting appts with you and never show up. I"ve also attempted to email to president of the company who in return sent me an email without even listing my name aka a general mailing list email to apologize. One of their brokers claimed their sister was really sick for a week or two. That is just not right. I really don't trust this firm to help with anyone in their search for a new apartment in nyc. Finding positive synonyms to describe the apartment hunting process in Manhattan is a heavy and challenging task; if you haven't experienced it for yourself, I'm sure you're familiar with at least one horror story. Before my search became the storyline of American Horror Story season 7, Caliber Associates came to the rescue with their all-star brokers Yoni and Nadir. Yoni and Nadir were accommodating, friendly, and superbly knowledgeable. After doing some apartment hunting with my roommate without a broker, we came to the conclusion that we needed some help. Yoni was able to schedule an appointment with us the day after we called him. He spent the entire afternoon showing us apartments that fit our likes/dislikes and need/want categories perfectly. Even though the part of the application process that is managed by the buildings' management company proved itself to be traumatizing (to no fault of Yoni or Nadir), both Yoni and Nadir stuck with us and helped us move forward to find the perfect apartment. For over a week they stayed with us many nights after regular business hours to see new apartments or to fill out applications in their office, were always reachable by phone, and constantly went above and beyond to make sure we found a place to call home. It's almost as hard to find honest and trustful brokers in NYC as it is to find an apartment in NYC, but I can wholeheartedly say that we found the perfect apartment and survived the entire process thanks to Yoni, Nadir, and the Caliber team. My roommate and I were in contact with STAV GLICK - who at first seemed to understand our needs and budget (we were looking for no fee apartments). My roommate has a french bulldog too (ESA approved). She told us that she had many options to show us, and that she specialized in no fee. But upon meeting her at the first apartment, she informed us that we would not be able to see any other apartments because the apartments she was meant to how us "would not accept our application due to ESA dog, and simply take another applicant without a dog and ignore our application." Then she told us that she "could show us an apartment that did have a fee" but that she originally did not intend to show us. It was basically a bait and switch, for us to see no fee apartments (who knew if she even planned for us to see any more) to fee apartments. The remainder of the day with her she ONLY showed us fee apartments - when we had originally told her we wanted no fee. Thats not all, we saw an apartment and loved it, but she was MISLEADING and LIED about the flex wall. She was NOT knowledgeable of the building's "exclusive contract" with a specific wall company and lead us to believe that we could install a full pressurized wall, which is not the case at all now. This building does not even allow full walls. On top of that, she lied about the management company accepting online payments for rent - we have to send in checks. She said anything and everything to get us to sign. We called her prior to signing the lease to make sure that this building allowed full walls, and online payments and she said yes. Her sweet nature is a guise for the liar she is - don't fall for her. Caliber should reprimand her for her actions - she is far from the other such positive reviews of the other agents. Wish I'd never worked with her, and I recommend that no one works with her, unless you want to have an awful experience like I have. read more

Such an awful, disrespectful company. My roommate and I attempted to work with Joseph on our apartment search. We very clearly communicated our budget, preferred neighborhoods, apartment type, the fact we were looking for a no fee apartment, etc. He had several listings on Caliber's website meeting our criteria, and did not at any point communicate otherwise. We scheduled a meeting with Joseph. He did not send a list of apartments we would view in advance, despite telling us he would do so. If he had, it would have saved us a lot of time and hassle. When we arrived at the first location, Joseph mentioned the first apartment we were viewing was the cheapest no-fee apartment he had for us that day. When we asked for the price, we learned it was $300 over our budget. We reminded him of our budget and he seemed surprised - he clearly had not listened during the initial conversation and had not taken our actual needs into account at all. We asked if he had any listings in our budget and he said he had one on the UWS, but it was "low fee." We needed to prompt him to disclose that it was a full one month fee - not what anyone would consider a "low fee." It was clear that our budget was not considered at all. Joseph was not at any point apologetic about his mistake and made no attempt to find other options for us. We ultimately didn't view any of the apartments since they were all way over our budget. We had both taken the day off work to view apartments, and our time was completely wasted. If Joseph did not have listings that met our needs, he should have honestly told us this. We called Caliber to see if anyone would rectify this situation. The second agent we were connected, Ernest, with did not acknowledge that Joseph disregarded our budget and requests, he simply argued that the prices for the apartments Joseph intended to show us were reasonable. Ernest did not make any attempt to help us view apartments that fit our criteria, despite the fact that we saw multiple apartment listings on the website that met our needs. We can only assume these listings are old or inaccurate, and that the agents we spoke with intentionally mislead us, disregarded our needs, and unapologetically wasted our time. Don't waste yours, look elsewhere. read more

I recently moved from FL to NY and needed to find an apartment in ONE day. Yep, a seemingly impossible feat. AND I didn't have a lot of money so I needed one without a broker fee. I searched rigorously for weeks ahead of time online. I set up appointments and then flew into the city. The first broker I met - Ross Kaplan (also with Caliber) was great. He was on time and showed me another apartment after I didn't like the first one (yeah, the pics were different in the photo). I liked the second one he showed me but it was on the ground floor and I had other appointments set up so I told him I would get back to him if I didn't find anything else I liked. Well the next realtor I had made an appointment with (Jacob Azolay? - Not with Caliber) didn't even show up. So I was in a panic at this point and was calling every realtor I could find to try to get last minute appointments. The only one who called me back was DENNIS CHAVEZ with Caliber. He dropped everything he was doing and found 5 apartments and spent the next 6 hours with me. The last apartment he showed me was the one. And although it did have a broker fee - he worked with me on it, he negotiated the rent for me and even negotiated to get my beloved dog (who was over their weight limit requirement) approved. He was patient and didn't make me feel like I was being too picky for rejecting some of the apartments. He didn't try to pressure me into anything I didn't want either, which I really appreciated because others had. I love my apartment, except that it is close to a hospital which I didn't notice when I first looked at it so it does get quite loud with the sirens and honking, but I think its loud wherever you go in Manhattan. I would definitely recommend Dennis Chavez and hope to use him again if I move from here. read more
