These comments pertain to the Caliber Collision shop in Castle Hayne, NC. Our 2019 Volvo XC60 got two small dents in the hood from a piece of steel, as a result of something the vehicle in front of us ran over. The dents were in the center of the hood, were relatively shallow and the largest of the two were about 8 inches long.
We received a call our car was ready for pickup and my wife went to the shop to get it. She drove to the shop in the rental car we got while the car was in the shop. We are entering pollen season and there was pollen or some kind of dust on the hood. My wife left the rental car at the shop, as the rental company would pick it up there. He car looked ok to her and she brought if home and put it in the garage. When I got home, I looked at the work performed and was not unhappy. I could see lots of hairline scratches all over the hood and dents were repaired. Since it was after their closing time, I couldn't go back to the shop that evening.
First thing the next day, I went back to the shop. I showed the car to one of the staff and made no comment or said they were sorry for the inconvenience. I was told I could make another appointment or leave it and I left it. Since the rental car was still on the shops lot, I wanted to get the keys and use it until my wife's car was returned. I was told the rental car company had already picked up the keys. I didn't want to have to redo the rental agreement, I had my wife get me at the shop and drove to the rental car company as it was opening. We were told, no, they hadn't picked up the keys the night before and the keys were in fact at the shop. We drove back to the shop to get the keys and the rental car.
I don't know why they lied and couldn't tell us they had the keys. They could have said we can't release the keys until they spoke with the rental car company. We spent about an hour going back and forth, in addition to the gas we wasted. Again, no apologies from the person at Caliber.
I got the car to the shop at 7:30 AM and received a call @ 3:17PM, saying the car was ready. When I got to the shop, I saw the scratches were gone. However, there were two slight dents in the hood, which I am pretty certain weren't there when we brought the car in for the 2nd time. The dent was the result of something striking the underside of the hood. When I pointed this out to the person who lied about the rental (shop office manager?), I received no apology and no comment.
My wife and I certainly won't recommend Caliber Collision to anyone.
Update to above review:
I received a call from the shop manager on Wed 3/5 after leaving the above review on Tue . I was informed she was out with (her words- sick kids) and just was back in the office. She said she could send out a mobile technician to repair the dent. I told her they could come on tomorrow (Thursday) of one day the following week as we would not be home on Friday 3/7. I said she has my number and email address to call and setup an appointment. Today is Thursday 3/13 and I still have not received a call. I took my car to another shop and they took care of the small dents. I wouldn't trust them to repair and paint a child's pedal car. As the saying goes, under promise and over deliver, not the other way around. read more
