Some friends said nothing but great things about this restaurant. Decided to see for ourselves how great this place was. We got there and was seated immediately in the corner, no one was seated around us and actually only 2 other couples were there. Ordered our drinks, appetizers, and pizza....the pizza was called the Brooklyn. Received our apps fairly quickly and noticed the place was starting to get busy. My husband said the wings were good and so was the cheese bread. Our pizza came out and my husband and I just looked at each other in disbelief. Really??? The pepperoni was burnt really bad...over cooked. Hardly any cheese on it. We ate through the burnt tasting pizza. My husband needed a refill of his drink. He kept on trying to get the waitress attention but she was too busy entertaining other guests. We felt non existent. She finally came over after we called it quits. I guess we are just spoiled with great customer service when we go to other restaurants. We never have to wait and wait for a refill the waitresses/waiter would comeover automatically refilling our drinks at other restaurants. This place good luck!! Once the waitress finally made it over to us, my husband and I expressed ourselves about the burnt pizza. She said I will get the manager. The manager came over and asked what was wrong. We told her and she said that the pepperoni is cupping pepperoni and it burns. I told her I have eaten many pizzas that had cupping pepperoni and it was never burnt. She just looked at me and didn't know what to say. She offered to make us another pizza to take home....no thank you. Stopped in for happy hour. While the deals are nice (half off drafts and a $5 menu of a few items for happy hour food), even when the place is not busy, the service is awfully inefficient and unaware. It took nearly 30 minutes to get my 1 happy hour food menu order. From the moment I told the bartender I needed to cash out, I put my credit card out with the receipt. He walked everywhere but by me, then walked twice by me and ignored the credit card sitting out in open view. Then went back to walking around everywhere but by me. This was 13 minutes of ignoring me in a place that was NOT busy. I know what busy is. I've been a bartender. I know how cycles go. This place was not that busy. Tried this place out tonight. Very loud and hard to have a conversation at 7pm due to the house music being way too loud. Possibly splitting the volumes in the dining area and bar would serve better. Felt rushed to order right away like they were starting to close. Plastic plates and utensils really?! Appetizer came out missing side dipping sauce that was cold not sure if intentional or not. Specialty beers were too expensive, this isn't downtown. Could only eat one slice of the pizza it was too greasy. There are a lot of pizza places in the area and this isn't going to be my choice. Snazzy place in a location that has seen 3 businesses fail. It'll be interesting to see if Caliente's can maintain. Don't get me wrong they have great food. I had a tough time deciding between 4 and 5 stars. The pizza was excellent. I had The Godfather. The crust was thick and airy with just a bit of crispness on the bottom. Generous, good quality toppings. The salad was also very good. Good size with some unusual ingredients such as yellow tomatoes. The lemon vinaigrette was very good. But my first impression when I walked in was not good. We had a hard time finding a table, not because it was that crowded but because there were several empty tables that needed to be cleared. Once seated, we reviewed the draft beer list. It was fairly large but too many of the selections were IPAs and ciders. Fortunately they had Yuengling on tap. The food menu was extensive for a pizza shop. Nice select of salads, pizzas and even burgers. Our server, Nikki, kept us amused, and was very attentive. I will go back but I hope that the draft beer list turns over before then. read more

My son picked up a xlg cheese pizza today for dinner. Not sure what you actually consider extra large, ours looked like a medium size pizza. Ordered a MEE-MAW for pickup. The pie was ready on time, but I felt is was ready for a while. Took to my in-laws. Everyone thought it was OK and very different. I personally felt it was OK but not the RAGE as they advertisements went. The pie did not hit my pizza taste buds well. I will try them again but with a different style pie. Pizza was fantastic (we got the Brooklyn) but the communication between our server and the kitchen staff was subpar and the parking was horrid! The server was very nice but everytime we asked her how long for our pizza she would say "let me check" and then she wouldn't come back for awhile. When she did come back she would give us the same line again and disappear! After waiting 20 mins to place our order we continued to wait an additional 1 hour and 25 mins (no exaggeration) to get our pizza at which point we asked to box it up and eat it at home because we were out of time. We were comped on the pizza and the manager apologized for the mix up so I was pleased with how things were handled. I will try them again but next time I will go on a Tuesday or Wednesday, NEVER on a Friday! read more

Well my recommendation is to sit at the bar, order a beer or $7 Long Island and have a half hoagie. Just don't order the steak hoagie...who puts both mayo and Italian dressing on the same sandwich? I'd you want pizza be prepared to pay $14 for a two topping 10 incher. If you want fries with that hoagie it's $3.50. If you want a side salad in a 4" faux wood Bowl usually reserved for peanuts, it's another $4. And guess what you get to eat everything with a plastic knife and fork from a plastic cup. Enough said. Arrived and found few HP parking spots. None near the entrance. A 70° day with without air conditioning. Uncomfortable chairs and tables that belonged in a firehall. Server dropped menus and left. 10 minutes later we ordered drinks and loaded fries and breaded zucchini. Got the drinks and the fries. A different server told use they didn't have zucchini tonight. The plastic utensils were in a basket on the table. Who knows how many people fingered them. The oil in the basket was slippery and greasy. Ugh! The pizza was ok but it was cut so unevenly, how do you share it. My side salad was ridiculous. The chairs were made for models butts. I can only review them for the pizza as that's all I had. We called and ordered pick up, and they had it ready for us in about 20 minutes. Not bad at all. I wasn't sure what to expect when I ordered. Obviously, a lot of people know they have won awards for their pizza, because they make sure everyone knows it. It was very good pizza. Not the absolute best I've ever had, but it's up there, and the only other place in the area that would compete with them is Olives and Peppers. Last evening ordered a pizza to be delivered. Was told it would be an hour and a half and we weren't starves so we said ok. An hour and 45 mins later still no pizza so I called for a status. Person tells me they are really busy and all there drivers are out making delivers and our pizza hasn't left yet. I asked how much longer and the person told me it was going to be another 30-45 mins. I cancelled the order. I understand that you get busy but a phone call letting me know they are running late would have been the first step to good customer service. This place always has an excuse as this isn't the only time this has happened or they got something wrong. For what their pizzas cost I am sure they can get a driver or two more and have a little better quality control. Don't care how many awards you have won, if your service sucks and you can't get things right, people arent going to purchase your products especially with Covid as they will go to places that value you as a customer instead of treating you poorly. read more

My family enjoyed the food the one time we went there to eat in. This past Saturday for take out; May 4th between 8 and 9 PM we ordered a large pizza half bacon and tomatoes and half sausage and mushrooms. The bacon was hard to find if any was even on it. The pizza was mediocre. I also think my order was put on the back burner because we originally ordered a grandma pie and you were out of them. We then called back and ordered the large pizza. I saw numerous people coming in and picking up there orders. It took at least an hour to get it and it was not hot, but warm. So be it! My biggest gripe when we ate in, is the tacky paper plates and cheap; not just cheap; but extremely cheap plastic utensils. I use utensils when I eat pizza and subsequently the forks broke in the pizza and I am retrieving pieces of plastic from you know where. Get real plates and buy or hire a dishwasher. Steel City Steakhouse had one. Please don't say they use plastic and paper in Italy; They don't! Also lets show a little concern for the environment and the landfills. in the vast wasteland of bad pizza in Monroeville this place is the best ONLY ONLY ONLY if you have the pizza at their location.. if you want it delivered I would suggest pizza hut or your freezer for a giant eagle frozen delight. .. first, I have had two wrong deliveries, I would say three but one time I got to keep a more expensive pizza... the delivery time was over an hour, and it wasn't a steeler game, the pizza came slightly warm, with hard cheese that had set up.. it was so bad that we left a few pieces and opened a can of soup... I will never order delivery again but would go to their location if I was in the mood for pizza. as for delivery pizza hut or anybody else comes faster and warmer. read more

Just to be clear my one star rating is for my overall experience and not the food. I never got my pizza so I can't rate it. For starters the parking lot is NOT big enough. It was a legit traffic jam. Myself and a few others gave up and double parked. Since I ordered ahead I thought I'd be in an out quickly. The place was packed (which is a good thing). I was taken back to where pickup orders came out. That when I was told the pizza I ordered online was no longer available. The offered to make me something else. I drove over 2 miles, I'm double parked in your awful lot, and this place is standing room only. Hell no I don't want to wait for another pizza! You should've called me before I arrived. The guy said he reversed the order. I asked "how long will it take to refund my account." He said my card was never charged. Later on my drive home I checked my bank account. He lied, my account was charged. I call back to speak with a manager. After being disconnected twice the manager explained it can take up to 5 day before the funds return to my account. She apologized for the inconvenience. read more
