I've been wanting to try California Chicken Cafe for a while, and thanks to an UberEats promotion, I finally placed an order. I'm glad I did, because the food was generally excellent! I ordered the 1/4 Chicken white meat chicken and the Chinese Chicken Salad. The rotisserie chicken was perfectly cooked -- incredibly juicy and seasoned well with a lovely herbal flavor. The Chinese Chicken Salad was also a standout. It was packed with fresh ingredients like almonds, mandarin oranges, crunchy noodles, pasta, and crisp vegetables all tied together by a delicious dressing. I also appreciated the nice touch of a complimentary chicken included with the order, which was a pleasant surprise. The packaging was great, arriving in a nice bag securely sealed with a zip tie. Aside from the food, I was actually drawn to this business after reading positive threads on Reddit about well they treat their employees. It feels great to support a business with those kinds of values. My only major complaint is that no utensils were provided. Eating a loaded salad without a fork is quite a challenge, so I ended up having to eat it "caveman style" -- good thing I wasn't around anyone at the time! While this was a significant inconvenience, it didn't ruin the meal. I would have have easily given them a 5/5, but forgetting the utensils brings my score down just a bit to a 4/5. My wife picked up 3 x Chinese chicken salad to go. Opened it at home. Received 2 sauces, chicken crunches In bag, oranges. Dropped all the recipe in one box. Shook the box to mix it all up. It's been years since I've been to California Chicken Cafe. I use to frequent the Santa Monica location always getting the same chicken wrap. This location opened at 10:45a. I arrived at 10:35, expecting to wait. As I was about to plug the meter, Maria R. Greeted me. She said she could take my order. I was excited. I couldn't remember what wrap i used to get. She was so helpful and told me the popular wrap was the Melrose wrap. I ordered that and the roasted potatoes. She told me I could wait in my car. My order was ready in 5 minutes. I really wanted to like this place. We've had food delivered to my office two years in a row, most recently this past December right before the Christmas holiday. One of our vendors arranged the catering, which was great -- but this review is strictly about the food itself. Both years, the same items were sent. The large catering-style pasta with lettuce and avocado was excellent -- a solid 10/10. The side dish with potatoes, onions, and sweet potatoes was also a 10/10. No complaints there at all. However, this restaurant does have "chicken" in its name, and unfortunately the chicken was the biggest letdown. The main dish was a full tray of chicken drumsticks and thighs and I'd rate it a 2/10. While the seasoning was okay, many pieces were either overly dry, undercooked to the point of being borderline raw, or had excessive gristle. Overall, it was not enjoyable. A few months back in Dec 12th at 2:00 pm to be exact i had a job interview in west la and told my coworkers i would pick up food from here for my work shift later on that evening 3-11:30 to be exact. One ordered the chicken salad with the goddess I ordered the veggie wrap with a few subs and another worker ordered cafe ceasar salad And one more order was melrose wrap So first thing first parking was a beast i had a literal confrontation with another person over parking which was so stressful and the parking guy/security guy only intensified the situation but it was over just as fast as it started. After that i was able to get out and make the order for my food. The lady at the window was so kind and helpful she made the experience i had with parking all worth it. I waited about 15 min which wasnt too bad i only made the order there as opposed making it online because of the subs. Now the food was simply amazing. She made sure i had plenty of sauce utensils and ect. Every single solitary bite was so delicious and the food had a very fresh appealing taste. Love their salad! Portion is good amount for the price. I usually get their Green Goddess Salad with chicken with their complementary 1000 island dressings. Their chicken is soft and tender and delicious! But this goddess salad has everything in it from spinach, purple cabbage, radish, cucumber, sprouts, lemon, and sweet avocado. It also came with sourdough croutons for crunchy topping. It is easy to make it into vegan too if you eliminate the chicken then it could be a vegan salad. But I like their green goddess dressing because it has a refreshing taste that goes along well with the different types of salads in that dish. Such a shame. Yes...it's been awhile since I've come to this location as I usually pickup from the El Segundo window. But tonight. I convinced the family to go to Westwood where we could dine in. We piled into the car, and sat through the Metro down the street and arrived and got a parking spot in front - only to learn this location has been converted into a large kitchen with only a takeout window to purchase and take out. It's been a while since I've been back to the Westside and growing up eating at California. Chicken Café was one of my favorite things to do. It's definitely not as good at UCB because they're now takeout only and I really wish that they would reopen up sit down. Part of the takeout only change is that the salads and wraps they no longer pre-mix the dressing into the wraps and salads. And mixing it evenly distributes the dressing into every piece of lettuce, which enhances the flavor of the meal of salt. I would also say that their chicken legs have definitely gotten smaller than these are probably the smallest chicken legs I've ever had in my life. So I would say that California chicken Café is good but no longer great. read more

I haven't been to a CCC in a while so I wanted to stop by I went a few minutes after opening, and there were already people waiting for their orders. I got out of my car to order in front of the store and then went back to my car where they handed me my order later on service was super efficient, friendly and fast! the person taking my order was really nice and let me know they give 2 sauces per order (one 4 oz and one 2oz). I decided to try a different sauce than what the salad came with but unfortunately they put the same sauce in it. it was still good so no complaints but I wanted to try the green goddess dressing overall, a good experience! price point is pretty fair given the portion and quality of ingredients. This is the only place in Los Angeles to get a proper Chinese Chicken Salad. It's full with mandarins, green onions, and one thing no other CCS has: pasta noodles which makes it more than just a salad in makes it a complete meal. The one thing I would change though is the hard noodles. I wish they gave crispy fried wonton crisps instead of those hard gum stabbing noodles. Wow, I was craving a delicious salad and I thought about this place when I used to live in Santa Monica, I lived 8 blocks away from the beach and my roommates always come here to pick up dinner once a week. He usually get a whole chicken and the Chinese chicken salad. We never get sick of it, is always the same consistency. The chicken was moist and juicy, the salad was delicious with the mandarin oranges made it fresh and tasty, with the crispy wonton strips, and the dressing, there's some chopped almond nuts and pasta noodles, and lots of white meat chicken pieces, it all comes together. Is on the corner of La Grange and Westwood Blvd., is not a sit in restaurant but kinda like a drive thru. They have benches for you to sit and wait for your order. There's also like a parking for the pick up orders on the street. Is really convenient. The service was quick, the employees are friendly and helpful. I almost ate the whole box, that's how good it was. If I'm in Westwood again, I would definitely come back and if you guys want good fast order food, this place is a great spot. California Chicken Café is a healthy chicken chain with a small menu, but quality execution. My boyfriend has had it for work prior and enjoyed it, so we decided to pick some up while we were in radius of a location.   This location is off Westwood, relatively close to the UCLA area. NO DINE IN, pick up only. When we arrived, the staff was running around frantically trying to check on and deliver orders with their "drive up" model. It's not drive thru... it's drive up... like you drive up to the curb. We already parked at metered parking nearby, with the initial plan to eat there... but we pivoted for takeout.   After looking at the menu for a while and no staff in distance, we ordered from our phones. There was so much information to put in to create a profile to order. No express option. So annoyingly inconvenient. After ordering, we had to stand around the curb and wait another 20-25 min in this sketch area.   My boyfriend had the Melrose Wrap ($12.25) which comes with chicken, avocado, white cheddar, cheese, greens, tomato, mayo, side Italian dressing. They provide 1 extra complimentary sauce which he opted for the Italian dressing. I had their Green Goddess Salad ($13), cause I'm a goddess, just kidding. It comes with lettuce, spinach, avocado, purple cabbage, radish, cucumber, sprouts, lemon, sourdough crouton, and 4oz green goddess dressing. For my complimentary sauce I got an additional 2oz of that magnificent green goddess dressing. I also added Hot Dark Rotisserie Chicken ($4.50) cause it didn't come with protein as a default.   When we got back, I opened my to-go salad and I was surprised by the quality and stunning presentation of my darling salad. I was like... damn I like it... cause I was soooooo annoyed at this specific location... but I LOVE that salad. The textures are perfect and the flavors were amazing. Everything worked well together. I used to eat this place all the time when I used to live in Hollywood. I haven't seen one in a while so I went and checked it out but you can't like sit down there and eat. It's all taken out. I thought that was kind of weird so they're making more money on to go orders and doing less work because they don't have to pick up after anyone or have anyone serving anyone I mean if it's working for them it's working for them and that's all I can say however I would like to have a place to sit down and eat, but it's just the same as I remember it. I remember really loving their ranch and I get their chicken wrap and I love the ranch and the Ranch hasn't changed so as far as ambience goes, I can't really say much about it. I didn't sit down but the personality of the workers Was good.
