Great sandwich shop in Sawtelle area. Ordered the Medianoche and Wolfgang -- both were yummy! Plenty of indoor seating, and parking in strip mall. Service was awesome!

Easy comfortable environment with helpful staff. You order at the counter and then they bring it to you. My boys and I needed something tasty and we chose Americano. Everything was prepared well. The tomato soup was served at perfect temperature and was very savory. The French fries were thin and very crispy. Their menu had something for everyone. We loved it and now the boys want to add this spot to our regular rotation.

We found this little sandwich shop tucked away in this little strip mall just off of Barrington. The restaurant itself is a lot larger than I anticipated. Just a heads up, they only accept card payments. Card payments includes Apple Pay as well as Google pay, in case you were wondering. I was impressed by the large dining area the natural light that comes through and how clean everything was. The menu is tough for me to read because I am a little bit more visually impaired these days. But they are located on three large TV screens above the register and ordering area. There are printed menus available as well. Most of their sandwiches look like they are anywhere from about $15-$18 each. They have quite a variety. I really love and appreciate that the person who took my order not only was very familiar with their sandwiches and could make some really good recommendations, but they were very mindful in letting me know if I were ordering a sandwich that were cold versus hot. Sometimes I've had the experience where I order a sandwich and I get it and it's cold. I didn't anticipate that. So, there was one sandwich that I thought I was going to order from here and the employee who is taking my order let me know that that was a good selection, but that it was a cold sandwich and not a hot one. Thank goodness. A dodge bullet on that one. I also really appreciate the fact that the employee let me know that with certain sandwiches, if the bread type was not one that I cared for that I might be able to substitute it without any problem. I ordered food for my kiddo, and I mentioned that she has a little bit more bit more difficult time with breads that are crispy or hard or tough, like a French roll. So she made it very clear to me as to which bread varieties they have that might be good for her situation. I also really like the fact that the employee knew what was in the different spreads that they use on their sandwiches. That was very helpful. I also mentioned to the employee that I am allergic to olives and cucumbers. And so, if there were any items that we were ordering that were inclusive of cucumbers and olives, she would put cucumbers on the side, but olives were not a worry because they don't use them in house at all. I was honestly just really impressed with your service and the knowledge of their staff. She said that a lot of their repeat business comes from their in-house spreads that they use on their sandwiches. I believe it. My family and I we ordered about five different sandwiches. Each sandwich comes with a side salad unless of course you go ahead and decide to order an upgraded side. Some of the examples of upgraded sides include things like french fries or a goat cheese and tomato soup. Another option was a turkey chili or a side of coleslaw or a kale pasta salad. Those are all pretty good seeming sides. Personally, I ordered pretty blindly. I didn't really look at the cost of each of the sandwiches that I ordered nor did I ask about the cost for the upgraded sides. But all in all, five sandwiches and upgraded size for each of them was a total of $100. I figured, 20 bucks per person really isn't bad these days.

great spot for a quick lunch during a work day. ordered the chicken pesto sandwich with a side salad and thoroughly enjoyed it. i enjoyed my sandwich with some tabasco sriracha on the side. portions are slightly all the smaller side so you aren't busting at the seams, but it was good. the salad was decent nothing special just some spring mix with balsamic.

WOW. We had an absolutely stellar experience here yesterday. We came in looking for an affordable bite to eat. My wife found The Carving Board on Google Maps, and I realized that this was the same place I had been eyeing up for months after seeing their menu and passing it on my way to work each day. Service was excellent -- everyone was friendly and kind, and the food came out quickly. While the restaurant is a counter-service only, the sitting area is very welcoming, and the plating is super cute and homey! I ordered the chicken salad sandwich, and it was absolutely superb. The chips on the side were stellar -- I would buy these by the bag! I also tried the s'mores bar, and it was excellent -- the Oreo cookies worked so well with the other s'mores flavors! My wife had the grilled cheese with goat cheese tomato soup, and the bite that I (consensually) stole was fantastic. Sincerely looking forward to returning here or visiting other locations sometime soon.

Yo, fellow foodies. Did y'all binge watch "The Bear" like I did? Really enjoyed season three. Hope there's a fourth! Season two finale episode, titled " Omelette" sealed it for me with the incredible omelet Chef Sydney Adamu (Ayo Edebiri - last month on the cover of Vanity Fair) made for for Natalie "Sugar" Berzatto (Abby Elliott) and topped with potato chips. WHAAT? Normally, I zone out at the end of the day, sleep through some good stuff (actually most of it) BUT my radar was up on this. I gotta do this thing as seen on TV egg/omelet thing. Memorized it. Did it but not exactly. (If you missed it the recipe all over social media.) Unfortunately, not a potato chip in the pantry. Just tortilla chips. Faked it. "Honey, this is good but woulda been better with potato chips like on that bear something or other show you stream." "So? Your plate's clean?" "So? Potato chips would have made it just sayin'." Well, hubby was right, right again. Enter The Carving Board my pre-pandemic middle of the day lunch spot. Next door for a much needed haircut, I purchased two orders of THE BEST house-made potato chips. One for the ride home and one to make my hubby know I really was paying attention to "The Bear". The Carving Board shares parking with a variety of businesses. Be mindful of tight spaces. No cash (Don't serve coffee but 7-Eleven across Barrington/Gateway does). Credit/Debit cards accepted. Perhaps I was too anxious to get home to make that DIY omelet but I believe there is no way to tip staff. That's something I always want to do having served in the ranks oh so long ago. Feeling guilty... Thanks to The Carving Board I nailed that potato chip topped omelet! Reprise for that coming soon to our table...

Chocolate chip cookie with a paper clip i bit into.

Took me a while to leave this as I wanted to go back and burn this place to the ground. Service was fantastic so I left a tip. I got the French dip and club sandwiches with the chocolate chip cookies. Food was great until I was eating one of the cookies and found a paperclip in it. I've worked for over 6 years in a dinner to put myself through college and I found a couple hairs, stuff happens. But a paperclip? What kind of operation do they have there? I dont know what else i ate that I didn't detect.

Talk about a yummy happy hour! Alcohol free!

Definitely my go to! I always get the Caesar salad, chicken Caesar salad sandwich with the homemade chips. Yum! You can get a salad if you want. Unlimited drinks and that little dessert bite was delicious. It was a combination brownie Oreo marshmallow Yum.

Making a sandwich with chips shouldn't be that difficult

If you're visiting the area, I highly recommend making a stop here. My biggest piece of advice is to go early because it gets incredibly busy by lunchtime--and for good reason! Keep in mind they are closed on Monday and Tuesday. While you can order online, I'll always choose to go inside so I can browse everything they have to offer. Their selection of fresh pasta salads is fantastic, and the desserts are always tempting. Whether you're craving lasagna, spaghetti and meatballs, a chicken Parmesan sandwich, or one of their many other Italian specialties, you really can't go wrong. Be sure to check out the wine section in the back left of the market. It's extensive and absolutely incredible! This is the kind of place that keeps people coming back year after year, and it's easy to see why. Being Italian American and growing up with an Italian mother who loved feeding everyone, this was one of our favorite places to visit together. Those memories make every trip here even more special. My personal favorite is the Godmother sandwich--hands down one of the best you'll ever have. It's packed with flavor, made with quality ingredients, and it's the sandwich I find myself craving every time I come back. One of the things I love most about this place is the atmosphere. It has an energy that immediately makes you think of family. Everyone is genuinely kind, welcoming, and happy to help, making you feel right at home the moment you walk through the door. It has that warm, old-school Italian family vibe that's becoming harder and harder to find, and it's a big part of what makes this place so special.

I ordered the Toscana which came with Prosciutto, basil almond pesto, stracciatella cheese, tomatoes, balsamic vinegar and olive oil and my cousin ordered the Tacchino which had House-made roasted turkey, avocado aioll, stracciatella cheese, toasted almonds, tomatoes, baby arugula with no crispy onions. The ingredients are fresh and high quality, down to the olive oil. The combination of flavors is perfection. I'm excited to keep trying their sandwiches. I need to remind myself to visit on a Thursday so I can try their steak sandwich. Cynthia was as sweet as before. She even treated us to a yummy chocolate dessert.

Ok, this place is great, and reasonably priced for being directly in the center of Beverly Hills…read more With that said, I don't think the sandwich I got would be in my top 5 this year. It was VERY close! The bread is excellent and the cheese and meat are clearly selected with INCREDIBLE intention. The only problem is that the bread is huge and has a taste unto itself that is really good! Why a problem? Because the cheese was not sharp enough to penetrate the bread flavor and the meat was not deep enough to do the same. This was a (delicious) bread first sandwich. I like my sandwiches to be ingredient forward-facing. This is a me thing. You may absolutely adore this place. My friends got the tuna and I wish I had got that. So fresh and light. With the price, I didn't feel like asking for a "re-do," but I chose wrong haha I will try this place again and get something with less bread dominance. This is still 9.2/10 sandwich....I just happen to eat 30+ sandwiches at restaurants every year. The pasta? Super good! There were 4 of us so I stole some bites. Definitely try if you aren't use to AUTHENTIC European sandwiches. You're in for a treat.

The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and the ingredients are refreshingly simple. I really appreciate that they don't use fake processed meats -- they keep it straightforward, yet the sandwiches are still outstanding. The bread deserves a mention too: crisp on the outside, soft and pillowy on the inside. I rarely hand out five stars, but they've earned it here. Making sandwiches taste this good with such simple and whole ingredients is no easy feat, yet they pull it off nicely. Highly recommend this spot for both carnivores and vegans alike!
