Everything we tried was amazing! The tahdig with gheimeh appetizer was so good, perfectly crispy and full of flavor. The shallot yogurt instantly reminded me of being back home, and the koobideh was honestly one of the best I've had in LA , super juicy and full of that real Persian taste. Pretty sure this place gave my bf food poisoning which resulted in him having to take a dose of azithromycin to combat the after affects of eating their chicken kebab wrap - which was already pretty inedible as it was drenched in whatever sauce they use It was both our first time trying this place and he ordered togo I got the koobideh kebab with double salad and he the wrap The koobideh was super sweet and really small I was surprised to have been charged almost 25$ for the portion size we got Cannot attest to service and/or ambiance as I didnt pick up, order, or deal with anything other than eating food and what was to occur post consumption but this place was not good. Naturally, I demanded a location drop and pulled up immediately. Surprise! The whole squad was there. Had I not made that call, I'd still be in the dark, eating cereal like a fool. But fate had other plans, and those plans involved kabob koobideh. The koobideh itself? Solid. Juicy, well-seasoned, a respectable 9/10. But then... the grilled onions and bell peppers. Or should I say, lightly-warmed raw produce? I bit into an onion expecting that caramelized sweetness, and instead, I got flashbacks of chopping onions in my kitchen with tears streaming down my face. The rice? Brother, where was the soul? The salt? The love? Rice should not taste like existential dread. Now, let's talk business. Panini Kabob, the Chipotle of Mediterranean food, is out here serving better food with less authenticity. That's a problem. Westwood is Persian food central--this place should be THE spot. My boyfriend and I were having dinner with his family and came across this place. The 5 of us came into the restaurant to eat there. The menu isn't extensive so it didn't take long for us to choose. I ordered one ground beef kabob (koobideh) that came with rice and a few veggies like a roasted tomato, one piece of squash, and one small piece of a bell pepper. The rice is really what fills you up. The kabob was flavorful but I wish the plate came with a bit more veggies for almost $20. We also ordered a Mediterranean salad which was big enough to be shared. Another family member ordered a smaller side salad. One thing I will point out is that the salads were super fresh and we thoroughly enjoyed our food. We also got a side of tzatziki that was the perfect addition. When I walked in to get my order, I was overwhelmed by the incredible aroma of grilled beef. Got so excited for the beef koobideh. Two skewers was actually 4 strips. No big whoop, I think that amounted to more meat. Koobideh comes with rice and salad (the menu says "or"). Came with a whole tomato and grilled onions. Now the salad was the big surprise. The creamy lemon dressing rocks! Love the fresh acid and the "to go" portion is big, enough for two meals. The koobideh is well seasoned and juicy although the softer, less dense texture is off for me. The employee was friendly and attentive. He told me which sides are available during the pandemic: hummus, grilled veggies, cucumber yogurt, salad, not the eggplant dip or lentil soup. Disappointing, as the last two are my favorites but hey, it just means I can try other stuff until the full menu is back. And I will. Many fans of their flantastic will be glad to hear it's coming back, due to popular demand! The employee said people buy 5 orders at a time. Great, because guess who loves flan? ; ) The pita could be fresher but I get enough carbs from the rice. I appreciate all of the sumac packets. Prices are very good, too. This was the first time I've ever ordered from Shekarchi Kabob (though I have eaten their food previously at friends' homes). They don't have a website, so I referenced some Yelp photos to put together my phone order for takeout. Sherkarchi has entree plates, wraps, salads and sides. Entrees come with your choice of rice or salad. I especially liked that they offer a selection of different rice and salads - not just plain saffron rice or green salad. When I entered, I immediately noticed how sparkling clean it was inside. Service was friendly, and when I was handed my bags, I was surprised at the amount of food that I received. The containers were packed with rice, not only under the kabobs, but on top as well, helping keep the kabobs warm. When I got home, I realized that I had also been given cucumber tomato salads with a super tasty dressing. Pita bread was included, along with sumac packets, limes and raw onion wedges. The chicken kabob and salmon kabob were cooked perfectly, still moist inside. The barberry rice had a huge serving of barberries. I'd give the food four stars, but the generous portions bump my rating to five stars (I love leftovers). I only wish they had a website and online ordering so I could pay online. I've never been here before, but I was in the neighborhood and decided to try it. It's a small cozy place the cashier is also the waitress, the food was FRESH, tasty, made to order and came out fast. I was introduced to Shekarchi by a Persian friend and was shocked to hear there was one located on Westwood Blvd as I've dined at Shekarchi restaurant in DTLA which is more fine dining sit down with a server as supposed to this location which is very grab and go. I've now been 11 times! They do have a few tables and chairs but I've always opt'd for takeout. Honestly, I don't know if I could sit in here because the smell is so intoxicating and it smells so delicious I'd probably leave hungry again! My favs are the barg(Filet mignon), chicken, and salmon kabob plates. Each plate comes with your choice of salad or rice and the option of one or two side dishes which are all divine my favorites sides are the mustokhair(cucumber dill yoghurt dip) and the shirazi salad. Really excellent Mediterranean food! We got takeout from here but I almost wish we had had dinner at the actual restaurant because the inside was super quaint and cute. The staff is extremely friendly as well. The kabobs were so juicy and delicious. The tzatziki was a really nice side to add on so I would recommend getting that for sure. The only downsides were that there wasn't any garlic spread and I was really surprised that they didn't include pita in our order. For the price of the food, they really should give you some pita on the side. Overall, great food and I would definitely come back. read more

The BEST place for beef kabob!! The Soltani (1 barg/filet mignon + 1 koobideh/ground beef) is to die for. It literally is so perfectly cooked it melts in your mouth. I was so impressed by it, and being Persian, I've had my fair share of kabobs. I tried a friends lamb kabob and boneless chicken kabob, which were also solid, but the beef options are definitely the way to go--and what they are known for here. The dishes come with your choice of a side, which is really nice since you can choose from a variety of dips (mast-o-moseer (shallot yogurt), mast-o-khiar (cucumber yogurt), hummus) and can eat it with the bread they give you. My favorite was the mast-o-khiar (and usually i'm a mast-o-moseer person), then the mast-o-moseer, and last the hummus. The flan was fantastic and super flavorful. The consistency was perfect! The waiter mentioned the house "doogh" is really good, but they were out when we went. The waiter was super nice and helpful. It is a pretty small place, but definitely good for groups of 6 or smaller. The waiter helped us move tables around to fit our large party of 10. read more

What caught my attention? Yelp did of course! 5 stars always makes me either suspicious or excited. Suspicion arises because I often wonder if they got friends to write the review. Excited that it could legitimately be amazing. Well...I'm giving it a 5 star and I do not know the owners or workers. I bought the family meal which was a great deal for the amount of food (and meat) I was given. If you do individual meals, it ends up being much more expensive. Man, everything was delicious!!!! I had chicken breast kabob, chicken thigh kabob and beef koubideh. I can't decide which one I liked the most. Even the rice was cooked to perfection. The next day I had leftovers and it still tasted amazing! Service was GREAT. I called to order while I was driving and the person was great at explaining their menu. They have a few parking spots in the back but it's not much so you may need to street park or park in the neighborhood. There are maybe 8 tables inside. I plan to go back VERY soon. I have been going to Shekarchi Kebab for a couple years now, and I don't know what took me so long to finally get around to giving them a review. I absolutely love their food!! Their chicken kebabs are delicious, their Persian rice is amazing, and their beef Koobideh is probably the best I've ever had! It's not dry like some others I've tried, and the flavor is on point. We have so many amazing middle eastern options in this neighborhood, but we keep going back to Shekarchi because they are so nice, and so consistently good.
