I live very close by and can say California Fresh is always consistently really good and the service is always very fast. It reminds me a lot of Tender Greens in that they have many different types of proteins that you can choose from and then different types of delivery methods whether it be on a plate, in a bowl, or in a sandwich. They have tables to dine in, but most people choose to go, which is usually our choice as well. They have a large menu to choose from and a medium size parking lot attached so parking is free and easy. For our most recent meal, we chose the White Fish Plate with two sides, spiced Cajun style, and also the Turkey and Avocado Panini. Between the two the plate was my favorite because the fish was a large sized portion and cooked perfectly. The Panini was good, but not the traditional Italian type of Panini. I wish it would have baguette bread instead of the bread they serve. Overall really quick and convenient option in Westwood and I definitely would recommend and plan to be back many times in the future.

I order pizza for my kids and half way done with the pizza my wife found a maggot on the pepperoni still moving that's so disgusting.

Great food, good prices, amazing service! And there was parking, perfect place for lunch in Westwood.

Parking is very convenient, since its in the back. My friends and I came over to meet since I was craving for pizza and hummus, and this was the most convenient location for me out in the West Side. One thing to notice is to bring a jacket since it is pretty chilly here and the place aroma is pretty much like a deli feel with several tables. Most utensils are available and pretty much self-service for setting up the table. I forgot to add the free drink but there is that option on Yelp! We got to eat the the grilled chicken kabob hummus plate and two different pizzas ( buffalo chicken and pepperoni) that were medium size and delicious. Would come back to eat here for a quick take-out.

What I was expecting. And stopped my whole day to experience again.

Awe man. How about yall tell me what rating I should give this place. A few weeks ago, I found myself walking down Westwood Blvd after a very expensive eye exam. Lots of Thai, and other places but I happened to glance across the road and spotted California Fresh. Could this be the California Fresh I had missed for so long after they left Downtown LA waaaay back in 2013? I had to find out. The restaurant had a few customers, I knew exactly what I wanted - and without incident I picked my favorite medi combo plate... grilled salmon, rice and chopped salad with hummus and pita. But would it be the same taste I missed for over a decade? Yes. The service was amazing, the food hot, fresh baked pita bread warmed to perfection. I ate it so fast - I gave plenty of thought to reordering another plate to go. I was truly happy to have California Fresh back in my life, so imagine how happy I was driving around two weeks later and discovering I was only a block or two away. I found parking. Went in through the back door walked up to the counter with bright eyes, bushy tale and a hunger for California Fresh you wouldn't believe. But.... As soon as the woman behind the counter took a look at me her face dropped to an uncomfortable frown. She didn't even say hi. When I said hi, her response was "is this for here or to go?" I immediately felt unwelcomed. But I figured oh well, this is Westwood and she probably thinks she has more money than me and I'm just a pion here to chase away her customers. I can't say I was dressed for the ballroom but I wasn't in gang attire either. But anywho. I tried to explain to her how happy I was to have found Cal Fresh to break the ice, and she cracked a smile For a bit - so I let her convince me to buy some bagel bites instead of baclavara. Or what ever that sweet sticky stuff is called. But just then. I realized I had left my wallet in the car. No biggie - I'll be right back. My wallet was no where to be found. But I was determined to fill my hot mouth with Salmon. It's so delish and grilled to perfection. The spices, the rice and the salad and hummus dip! OMG. Took me about 10 minutes to fiddle around on the phone with the banks to transfer money to Apple Pay. But I did. And I marched right back in there to finish my purchase. This time again as soon as the lady saw me her face turned to disgust. I'm thinking damn. Is there bird poop on my face? So I ask if she's the owner - and she says yes... and I can tell cuz only owners don't care if they lose $40. Although most would never let an employee get away with that. So she rings me up. I'm like. Whatever ...I go fill a soda and sit down. Not 10 seconds she comes and presents me with a plate. Plops it down to show me just how little she cares I'm there. I mean no sense of hospitality, care. And look at the plate. I was taken a back. First my mind is thinking - where the hell did she get this plate from? Is this her lunch? I bring it up and she tells me although I didn't pay, and left the restaurant, they already started making the food so here it is. Hmmm. That's odd. And already red flag #2. Now I like to give everyone 3 chances. So I let her convince me to at least try it. But then I realized hey! There's no Pita bread. And no vegetables. I sware I don't know whose plate this was but it wasn't mine. I pulled up the photo. She probably didn't expect that. But as a published food critic for over 15 years and over 100k food photos... lady please. "That's not even the same rice" I said - that's the only rice we have she replied. I thought I was in the gosh darn twighlight zone. Look at that hummus I thought it myself... something ain't right. Has this place been over taken by aliens? I was hungry so I tried the salmon. It tasted okay. But it was only grilled in one side - the underbelly was soft and cold and steamed up from the plastic plate... it wasn't sitting on a bed of rice, keeping it warm, and soaking up its flavor - NO... it was drab. I tried the pita bread. It too was cold. At that point I just got grossed out. Was this food from the garbage? I was like. Yo. I'm out of here. I got in my $45000 car and was about to take off when an elderly man came out to apologize and offer my money back. He also brought me a sweet desert. The desert was so good.... I almost want to go back. But how can I? The owner hates me for no reason. So I guess this will be my last memory of California Fresh. I may not go back but if they would have kept their word and refunded. I would have left a far better review. I think it was sweet he came out. And it's never my intention to harm a business. But integrity is everything. Over all I would still recommend the salmon plate. As long as she ain't making it. The whole time she was looking down her nose at me. Absolutely my pet peeve. Seeing we all have the same Olive Oil in our veins.

The chicken kebab was delicious, but I saw plenty of sweets that I would comeback for. Chocolate chip cookies and bread pudding looked really good. Would definitely return to try other things on their menu.

Cocktails are slightly limited as it is not a full bar, but they do have options. The frozen Spritz was very flavorful, more fruit forward and would be perfect in a hot day. The Nonna's Medicine had a nice complexity to it with the flavors peeking their heads out at different times through the process. For food we started with the crudo, mussels and grilled oysters. The crudo was very fresh and had a lot going on with it's simplicity. Just a great bite. The mussels were decent but really didn't stand out in any way. The grilled oysters, however, had flavor and texture, with a Parmesan crust on top and the oyster and juice underneath. Very good! For pizza, they are almost like little personal focaccia pizzas, cut into four slices. We tried the mushroom, pepperoni and white pizzas. The mushroom has a garlic cream sauce and herb mix with Parmesan. You definitely get the mushrooms, as they are ample, but they do not over power the pizza. Just a good blend of flavors in each bite. The white comes with Japanese potato, fennel, mozzarella and pesto. Another really great bite with the potatoes not overpowering everything else. Finally, the pepperoni with spicy honey. The spicy honey is more like spicy marinara honey sauce, but it works. Could have used more of that as it came on the side. The pizza itself, with mozzarella and pecorino tasted great. Maybe that focaccia is the move? Overall, De La Nonna did not disappoint. Everything was very nice, and sitting on the patio when the weather is perfect is always a move. I would say to skip the mussels but, everything else, give it a try!

Initially we were going to…read moretry De La Nonna, but they were closed for a special event and we didn't know when we showed up. In the same vein, we stuck with a similar style of food and ended up at Propaganda. There was little to no wait, which was pleasant. It was a nice day and we decided to eat outside. The focaccia bread and salad came out first, and both were good. I enjoyed the crispiness of the bread, though my only qualms were that the bread was quite oily and the butter and salt were just a tad bit too salty for my liking. The Insalata Mista salad was solid. Good flavor, good dressing-to-salad ratio, and a surprisingly good portion size. As far as pizza goes, the Margherita was good. Tasty, moist, and a nice crunch on the crust. I found it to be enjoyable, though I may have enjoyed more fresh basil on this. I did find it better than the Boscaiola. I got the black truffle honey add on, and it does not go well on this pizza in my opinion. There was virtually no taste of truffle to me, and more of just an aftertaste of oily sweet honey. This was a miss. It's hard to say whether the base pizza was good without it because the flavor profile was just too overpowered by the aftertaste. The Arts District is definitely coming up with new upscale dining establishments, and I'm there for it. I think this is a solid addition. Though this is a wine bar, I don't generally drink, so my review is based purely on the food. Results of their drinks, which is quite an extensive list, may be to your liking! They do have an inexpensive three wine flight, for reference!

I've had this same pizza at several other spots in LA, but Prime Pizza really executed it well here. So well balanced in textures and flavors, and the crust was both nicely crispy on the edges and fluffy in the center! - Spicy Pep: Solid pizza, and we LOVE when pizza places use cuppy pepperoni. Nice name, but when I see menus of any cuisine that go out of their way to offer vegan and gluten free versions of everything, it tends to put me off. I know that's an unfair prejudice, but I always assume it's more of a healthy food place for people who complain about regular food than a real tasty joint. Well, I couldn't have been more wrong. Now that I've tried their fantastic pizza, my only sadness is that they are located in DTLA, where finding parking even to run in and pick up things to go is always difficult. So, we were here at first not for the food but because my teen son's death metal band, Institutionalized, was playing a show with the very popular super cool local metal band Diabology. But, hey, if you're there might as well grab something before you leave, right? So We got a cheese pie, which was excellent. Also tried a slice of their white pie, which was garlicky goodness. What really sold us, though, was the Sicilian pie we got. As born and bred New Yorker transplants who have been here a long time, we have never found a fantastic Sicilian. Good, sure, but never great. The pies are never thick enough as far as the breading. Here it was as close as we've ever got. And like the other pizza, the taste was excellent. I also came when they were about to close and already had to wait like 15min longer than they said so there's not even anything else open this late for me to find other food. Very disappointing and I will not be coming back for good this time. If I could give separate stars for customer service, I would give them 5 stars but this was unacceptable on the cook's part.
