Got this installed last year. Sloppy, careless employee whoever he was, I have a stealth woofer with an amplifier kit that I took to get installed. My stealth woofer comes custom with the measurements for the amplifier to be centered perfectly in the middle so that's where I requested it to be put but instead he put it under the seat so I came back for it to get fixed, he then had the audacity to insist that he has always installed them under seats when I'm the customer not every build is the same bud this one's designed for it. After my request the amplifier intentionally got installed crooked to the edge of my stealth woofer it not being centered properly so that's one issue. I don't even wanna bother showing it this company ain't it with that type of employment. That's not even the best part the wiring was a shit show first of all, perhaps zip ties or something. My insulated floor mat got installed sloppy improperly when they finished so I had to correct everything and tucked in what they left sticking out. It's not that hard to satisfy a customer wants take notes. read more

I took it off because I found out that It was Intoxilock I have the issue with and they were just doing what they were supposed to do and got caught in the middle of all that. Took my step son's charger in to get him some subs and an amp hooked up in his Dodge Charger. These guys talked to us about a good setup. Did it all with the stock radio, and had a sub control knob to be able to adjust the levels easily. It was all done at a very reasonable price and the install was fast and professionally done. After finding myself totally locked out of my vehicle when depressing the unlock feature on the fob to the Compustar CD697-A Immobilization Kit that California Audio had installed for my 2015 Hyundai Sonata, I was highly irritated. In addition, when I had originally arrived for my 2 p.m. appointment the previous day, I was told that my car would be ready within 3 hours (Internet sites are listing a 2 1/2 hour installation time). When I called for a status report 4 hours later, I was informed that they were going to have to keep my car overnight. Finally, at 1:00 p.m. the next day it was completed. Adding the two experiences together, I was ready to give California Audio a 1 star rating. But, after having my spouse drive me back to their business in her car to complain, they were more than willing to help me out. One of their staff followed us to my locked and abandoned car, did a series of checks, got it unlocked, and arranged another appointment for my car the following morning at no additional charge. After another 6 hour wait the next day, I was able to once more pick it up. With that latter experience added to the previous one, I've raised the rating to 3 stars. Even though the dome light still won't automatically turn on upon receiving the unlock command as advertised, that issue is so minor that I can live with it. read more

This time around Hyrum helped me, he installed a new deck and took the time to show me how to use it, he set up the sound setting to get the most out of my stock speakers. I went in and ordered the box was told it would be about a week after three weeks and four different stories I finally just asked for a refund. Two weeks later the owner calls and says he felt bad about what happened and just made me a box. I had the box about a month and the box started falling apart so I took the box back in and they said they would fix it after two weeks of not hearing from them I called and found out my box was ready and sitting there. I go pick the box up and all they did was put a couple two by four pieces as a brace and just did not care what they were doing. I installed the box again and now there is less space for the air flow so it doesn't sound as good. I ended up doing a review on another site and the owner was so pissed he has called a couple of times questioning me why I put that review. I wouldn't recommend going here they are more about making money then what is right for the customer. read more

I brought my 2007 Cadillac Escalade to get a radio installed. I told them that I needed the two roof DVD players to work with the new radio. If it wasn't going to work not to even bother with installing the new radio. They assured me that they could do it. After they did the work and delivered it to me I realized the rear dvd wasn't working so I had to take it back to them. Of course they took care of it which i don't know why they didn't take care of it in the first place it would've saved them and me a lot of time. After a few months I took a 10hour trip and my stereo wasn't working. I wanted to take a look at it and see if I could fix it before taking it back to them. During all this I noticed a bunch of flaws. Metal clips missing from the panels and a lot of screws that hold everything together we're also missing. After checking the stereo to see why it wasn't working I came across a connection that was barely holding on which made me think they did not make sure all the connections weren't fully checked. I think with their recommendation and the prices they charge they can really do I batter job. I know I won't be coming back to them for any installation of any kind. I will rather do it my self. read more

One of the bulbs blew within a few days and he installed a new one on the spot free of charge. They have been very busy each time I've been in. But, they still took care of me in a big way! I got a quote from Alan about 2 years ago to have BleuBelle-yes, I do name my cars-upgraded to Bluetooth-when I was finally able to have the time and money they were most accommodating. I used to come here in the early 90's. I needed some work done on my Lexus and decided to go back to where always had work done in the past. What an awesome thing to see Alan still behind the counter! I said the factory sub-woofer and a few speakers were blown. That I mostly just wanted a clear system, but I don't need to win any decibel competitions! Alan worked up quotes and explained what equipment I should use based on my answers to his questions. A few weeks later I scheduled the install and got the work done. The results? AMAZING! Sound quality is so clear it made music I've listened to for years sound like I was truly hearing it for the first time! The service went above and beyond as well. When I came into the shop, Alan had been out back helping his team with the install himself to make sure I got to take my car and new audio system home that night. When the technician went out to show me how to use the new head unit, I also saw some details that I was not expecting. I guess the head unit also included a hands-free microphone for using my phone with bluetooth. I could tell that took quite a bit of extra labor that they gladly took care of. I was told by various individuals California Audio was top notch when it comes to car audio installation in SLC. I couldn't disagree more. I took my car In to get a pioneer 2400 NEX install purchase through them. During the install they blew my sub woofer!! Of course they took no ownership and even told me "there is one way your sub was working when you brought your car in" which in other words they called me a liar. I had them replace the sub at my cost!!! No biggie. They then installed the USB AUX in the primary cigarette lighter instead of using the secondary one that is inside the center console out of sight. And last bit not least they couldn't give me an itemize invoice of what I was paying for. Needless to say how disappointing this experience was. I was under the impression I was dealing with professionals rather than unskilled laborers. This lesson costed me $1,184.97. Lucky it's only money. I am posting pics so you can see what I'm talking about. PS they didn't even clean up after themselves. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by the work California Audio did on my new stereo. The stereos they carry tend to be on the expensive side, but I didn't mind since it had a few more features than I expected. The guy there made his recommendation for one of the cheaper models and got me a quote before I made any decisions. His quote was within $10 of the actual price and told me he could get it done within an hour. They took 45 minutes and installed everything perfectly. The other place I went, that will remain unnamed, needed to make me an appointment for 2 weeks out and said I'd have to leave my car there for 2 hours or so. These guys are great! I rarely leave reviews, but was impressed by my experience at California Audio and felt it should be shared. Long story short, got a stereo installed, the service was great, but fast forward 6 months and the stereo deck starts acting up. Brought it back in to California Audio, and they determined it needed to be replaced. They took it out and sent it to the manufacturer for warranty repair. Manufacturer was being a pain about it so California Audio put in a new deck for me at their cost. They went above and beyond on taking care of me. I would highly recommend them. read more
