I went in hoping they could enable a feature in my compustar remote start system. I was worried that they wouldn't want to touch it since they hadn't installed it. Also, my truck is 7 years old and so is the compustar module. They put in a a lot of time getting it set right. Replaced the temperature sensor, reprogrammed it. It was a real struggle but they (I forgot to ask the guy's name, but he was the owner, pretty sure.) In the end I upgraded to a better model with two way communication but I didn't have to and I never felt pressured to do so. Also, I was a walk in and they worked on it right away! YMMV on that part, cuz I'm sure they're busy. I highly recommend car concepts and they'll absolutely get any window tinting, security or audio upgrade business I have in the future. read more

Front/rear parking sensor install and connect 3 wires: Red, Black, Yellow. $714.45. My front sensors did not work. They said my pre-purchased kit was cheap quality. A different installer found their mistake and fixed it, $204.16. The red wire from the parking sensor unit should have been connected to the hot brake-light wire, allowing the front sensors to activate. Instead, Car Concepts connected the red wire to the accessory (ACC) fuse, which is why my front sensors did not work. They said it's not their fault because they were given the wrong wiring instructions. They did not need instructions to remove both bumpers. Connecting 3 wires must be complicated for CC. Response from the owner of Car Concepts: This was your kit and we were clear about the amount of work we had to do, we also guarantee our labor for life unless you take it elsewhere for repair so you just voided that. Honestly, my instinct was not to do this job at all and we should have went with that. We were given no instructions on a kit you purchased and I can assure you it was more than three wires, considering it was eight sensors and we had to drop the bumper. You were rude and difficult to work with so thanks for the review.. take your business elsewhere. Reply to Owner of Car Concepts: One star removed for inappropriate response. I was rude??? Difficult to work with??? I dropped off car, returned for pickup, and returned to point out an issue. Your cameras are everywhere. Let the people see any proof of me being impolite. More than 3 wires??? There is a difference between connecting 3 wires and plugging in 8 sensors. 8 sensors were perfectly installed and correctly plugged into the sensor unit. However, only 3 colored wires came out of the sensor unit. The red wire was not properly connected. Simple mistake. Own it. Man up. No big deal, but you refused to accept any possibility of a mistake. You gave me no choice but to go elsewhere. Also, as I politely mentioned in your shop, "I'm ok, but many customers wouldn't be happy with the final bill being so much more than your initial quote." Almost exactly double the amount. Your quote was based on my particular accessory and vehicle. You never complained about anything up front. You could have said no. 3 other shops did. The receipt actually shows the initial quote vs final payment. Potential customers want someone who is willing to be held accountable and take ownership. You did not even check to see if everything was functioning before telling me my car was ready. Furthermore, you called and said my car was ready for pickup. My girlfriend's stereo went out in her VW and I immediately thought of Car Concepts. I like dealing with local places and Car Concepts is one of the best known car audio shops in Salt Lake City. I gave them a call and talked with a friendly employee named Alex who was awesome. Alex recommended a basic deck from Alpine in the $130 or so price range and said they could do same day install. Unfortunately when we went down that day to get the stereo installed they didn't have the dash kit we needed so we had to come back over a week later. It took a long time to get the dash kits in. When we went back to get the stereo installed Car Concepts did a good job, the new deck looked great, and the new iPod functionality was pretty sweet. Right from her iPod my girlfriend can connect to the deck and then control everything through the deck, making it easy to change tracks without taking her hands too far off the wheel. Alex and the other folks at Car Concepts were easy to work with and got the job done right. When it was all said and done we paid about what we'd pay anywhere else, Best Buy, Innovative Car Audio, etc., but ended up getting the deck for like $100 and the install was like $70 on top of that for parts and labor. Not bad overall for a great Alpine deck with iPod connectivity. read more

I have been working with car concepts through 2016 and I had them do an installation on my Mercedes s550 with a high end JL amp and a WS6 12" high output box with a huge dynamat job through the trunk I worked with Ryan Goeller as my main point of contact and I was treated great at first Probably a lot to do with the fact that I was referred by a client that spends a lot and has them work on a lot of cars. After I paid for the first job with dynamite listed on the order I looked through the trunk and noticed no dynamat so they brought out a small amount and put it in a couple spots and I drove it for a few weeks then let Ryan know I really need a better job at sound dampening and I brought it in and was charged 300 for that I accepted that and was satisfied with the sound. They made mistakes during installation and my rear left taillight was popped out slightly. Well due to rain and car washes my factory mercedes amp is destroyed and I took it back to them and was told water damage but that it did not come from the taillight then I was told the taillight was not there fault even though it was perfect before. I have pictures showing the issues and making it very clear. I have been reaching out to everyone in the store for help and answers when the last straw was Rick Goeller the owner told me he would have a resolution by today for me and when I called to speak to him I was told by him "I have not got to that I have your number I'll call you" then he hung up on me! I was shocked and I was just about to bring in my car to add a few items since I thought they were going to make it right and fix my sound system. I had also been referring friends and co workers and planned on taking my next car there and I am not a small spender once I trust a business. I will no longer recommend car concepts to anyone I know and I would stay far away unless you want an absolutely terrible experience the minute any issue arises. Very unprofessional Rick Goeller and this was a mistake that could of been fixed by you and you would of made so much more money on me and friends that you lost just by showing me respect as a paying customer and human being. The Cost for this amp is 1800 from Mercedes however they are online as low as 400 used and I was open to solutions and I just wanted to be treated with respect and courtesy and to have a company that I spend money with make an effort to provide a solution to help me. read more

I have been using Car Concepts for years and they have always been the best game in town in my opinion, but for a price. The service at the shop is the best in town and they have the premium products that will blow your mind. At the same time they are not the guys to look down their nose at you because you are on a budget. They will work with you to get you the equipment at a good cost, and are straight up with what they will charge for an install separate from the equipment cost. Shawn is incredibly knowledgeable and useful in helping to spec out a car no matter what the make or your budget. Be aware that their custom installs are quite spendy (I just spent $950 of install on a $900 radar unit), but you will not find any higher quality with cleaner install in the valley or the west for that matter. read more

It got cold really fast this year. On the very first day of the cold snap I decided to start looking for a remote start. I called several other shops before calling Car Concepts and everyone seemed helpful on the phone. They all wanted to up sell me to an alarm package too however I don't need one. When I called Car Concepts they said they could get it done and do it within a couple hours. They were a bit higher priced but I told them the price I was quoted from another shop and they matched it. They did a great job and got it done when quoted. Bottom line is that I would recommend them to anyone. Also due to their willingness to match prices I would say that you should always do your homework. It'll likely save you some cash. The only thing I noticed that seemed a bit off was a shop that does window tints should have better tints on the store front windows. They had some old faded tints up that didn't look all that great. That's just a minor issue though in my mind. read more

Crooks. The radar detector these guys sold me sells for $250 less everywhere else online. And they still charged over $100 more to install a power line from my Range Rover's mirror. This is after they quoted me one price, and then tried to raise it on me an additional $150! It would have been $400 over what you can get it for elsewhere! Additionally, when I went to pick it up, I realized my owners manual was missing. As the shop staff scurried to find it for me, the tech tells me "we are all high so I'm not sure what we did with it." I guess that explains why my door panel wasn't put on right, weather stripping fell off the next day and the two cap pieces to my mirror were forced on and broken, literally left dangling by the high installer. The audio job they did, 13" sub and amp, was equally as overpriced and poorly installed. These guys are the worst of the business and the very reason car audio shops have a bad reputation. read more

They get the job done and it's done right for sure. I had them reset an ipod adapter in my one car and put a new one in my other car. Good price, seemed to be comparable to other places i've been. It was really really cold inside though so i waited about 2 hours for the work, which was a little on the long side seeing how the first one i got done elsewhere took 30 min, and froze while watching a movie in the back. This company is horrible. They left my car out in the sun all day with its dashboard pulled apart, when there was an open inside bay available. After spending a whole day telling me they could install a stereo for $300, they then tell me at the end of the day that they can't install the stereo, but they can rewire my electrical system to be able to install the stereo-- for $900+!! I told them to "no" and to have my car ready for me by the end of the day. I walked 2 miles after work to get to their shop and found the car parked outside with the dashboard still opened up. I came into car concepts with a set appointment, for window tint, in which right when I walked in I was being assisted. Kalob Smith a representative at the front, welcomed me in asking if I was his 2:30 appointment, therefore we then discussed differences between tint, legal limits, along with different pricing options they offered (in which are very competitive). Once coming to my liking for tint, I handed my keys over to Kalob in order for his installer, Mike Banta, to begin the process. I did decide to wait, in which they have offered a very nice & comfortably waiting area. Dimmed lighting, along with comfortable captain chairs... & a tv. Almost hard not to fall asleep! Throughout the waiting process, which took 3 hours, did not feel terribly long. With their comfortable amenities it was a pleasing buying experience. Kalob gave me a very well insight of what I was investing in, such as saving $$ due to reduced time of A/C, along with increased privacy in which decreased the amount of sun rays entering the windows. He is very well knowledge, along with Mike the installer himself. Coming to receiving my vehicle upon completion, Mike did advise me that it took longer than expected due to a scratch he found on the driver side tint. Because of that, he did go the extra mile of removing the tint & applying a new one. He then performed a quality check, once again, over his work to ensure no flaws. I was very happy with this buying experience, knowing that they are also backed with a lifetime warranty gives me peace of mind. From setting up the appointment, to the very end it has been a very easy and respectful buying process. COVID restrictions were taken action between their workers as well. They kept their mask on, their distance along with ensuring PPE supplies were accessible. read more

This company is the absolute worst and I wish I could give them zero stars-- I paid for an automatic starter and they botched the job and I gave them 4 times to fix it. After failing on the 4th attempt they managed to burn out my door actuator and offered to fix it using a used ebay part for which I refused. When I asked them to have Toyota fix it, they agreed and promised to pay for it in full, but when I called for payment details the next day, the owner said "you aren't going to like what I have to tell you, but I Googled it and truck parts break, so we aren't going to fix it." Really?! They have cost me over $1000 and have not returned payment for the system they removed or the part they broke. I now have to take them to small claims court to recoup what they stole and broke. Save yourself the hassle and go to the dealership. read more

Very disappointed in the over all experience with Car Concepts. The after marked fog and headlights I brought to them were not installed properly. Half of the functions did not work because they didn't run the needed wire from the lights to the fuse box and battery. The part was not returned to me when I first picked up my truck and when I came back they wanted to charge me more to install it. The fact that they didn't install the part and didn't return it to me makes me think they tried to hide it. The next day when I want to get to get it fixed , they did it, but the customer service from the morning before was totally gone. Went there to just check out prices. Ended up with a all new system plan. After working out the details I ended up with all new component speakers, custom built boxes with an emblem that was lit with led's, as well as an amp. I didn't want to go with a head unit because I liked mine and all the features that were integrated into it and the car. $4500 and about a week or more later I get my car back........... First there was feed back playing through the system, which they say they can't do anything about because my factory deck can't handle the new system, (even with high quality loc's.) Also the emblem we discussed had no led's and instead of one liked asked there were two, (one of which looked jacked up.) Oh and one door speaker not even working. After a day of dealing with the feedback I break down and conceded to get a different head unit. With a guarantee of not losing functions with my steering wheel controls and better sound. Soooooooo another install now over $5100 and days later I get my car back again steering wheel controls gone and they had messed up the USB install, (bad communication from sales guy Max), and they broke a door for a cubby in my dash wich they tried to blame on being already broken. It was but in a different way. After a pretty heated talk with Max we come up with a "solution". They will fix the USB, fix the cubby door and remove the one emblem I didn't want and get the other one to light up with color led's that can be changed and works off a remote. We schedule it a bit out due to them being busy during Xmas and new years, and wanting to "do it right". They ask me to drop it off on a Thursday. I dropped it off a bit after 11am and don't get it back, not done, until the following Wednesday. USB fixed, door not fixed and I still have two emblems and they light up... one color and I have to go to my rear hatch door lift my spare tire cover and turn them on and off manually. As of this post no word on my cubby door. Now for the positives. My system sounds great. Max was really nice. My car didn't explode when I started it. I would suggest going somewhere else for your car stereo dreams. read more

I had a good experience. They got me the right head unit and did a great job of hooking it all up with my speakers and sub. They did a better job than other places in they valley I have had work done. I've also found their staff to be helpful and fairly prompt to offer to help. The one thing I would say is that the installs there take a long time. I would not suggest waiting there. Have someone follow you and have them call you when it's ready. If you don't mind a little extra time without your vehicle the installers here will do better than most with your stereo equipment. read more

I had a very good experience with Car Concepts. I drive a Subaru Outback which notoriously does not have an aux input for iPods or whatever electronic music device you use. I did loads of research on how to correct this before coming in to Car Concepts. I went in with a problem and they suggested a solution that would pipe the signal through the radio. I was skeptical but they assured me it would work out well and I went with their solution. I wasn't expecting anything fancy but they did a very professional job with the install and made it very clean and convenient to access the aux and iPod/iPhone cables that came with the kit. At very least I can recommend the quality installation process and the knowledge of the staff. If you have car audio needs, they are worth scoping out. read more

I took my car to Car Concepts about 2 weeks ago to get my aftermarket stereo installed. When i left there store after it was installed i noticed my car was running different. It was taking a second to get power. Yeah i should've went back to Car Concepts but i didn't. Later that night,long story short, it wouldn't drive at all, only reversed. Come to find out, it was the transmission. I did some research and it could be related to the install. I talked to the manager and of course he said there is no possible way related. They should research. Lucky they're not getting sued. read more

I am a very disappointed customer. I had a scheduled appointment to have a subwoofer installed in my car. After an hour of waiting they finally got my car into the shop and started working on it, so much for scheduled appointments. After they were finished with the job while driving home I noticed that my check airbag indicator was giving an error code because they disconnected cables while installing the sub. You would figure that they would have reset the code before they get the car out to the customer. The car was also returned to me dirty with speaker wire parts all over my carpet. This place has been in business for years and I would expect top quality service and installation. I will definitely not be coming back here nor can I ever recommend this place.
