This place is the worst. Came here because I needed to pick up money sent to me via Western Union and this place was listed as one of the pickup locations. First of all, it looked sketchy from the outside. After informing the lady at the window what I was there for, she insisted that they needed to take a photo of me in order for me to pick up my money. I've never heard of that my entire life. I asked why. She said that's because if someone forgot their ID they could still pick up money using the photo. I said I prefer not taking a photo as you are not a government agency and have no authority to require a picture of me. I also told her that she could take a picture of my photo ID. She said no and they had to take a picture of my face in order for me to pick up my money. Seriously?!?! I brought 3 forms of IDs and my pickup number from Western Union. But they refused to let me pick up the money without taking a picture of myself. What kind of comedy is this?! I felt like I was in a jail being interrogated and treated like a criminal. Guess what? When I returned they said because my checking account didn't qualify. I've had the same account since I was 17. I certainly have the same account that I had when I was here last time I was approved. When their Western Union money transfers work, they work. When their agent screws up the receipient's telephone number for a mobile transfer, the sender is royally screwed: My friend (tried) to send some hundreds of dollars to relatives in Africa. The agent did not enter all of the telephone number digits--she left out the prefix and country code that must come before the local phone number in order for money to be delivered. Result: the money never arrived: 'Oh, sorry, you had one hour to cancel the transfer. Now there's nothing we can do here in this office.' After five phone calls to Western Union and two visits to California Check Cashing this matter is still not resolved. Check Cashing says call Western Union. Western Union customer service agents in the Philippines say go to the Check Cashing office. The money is not delivered, has not been refunded, and no one at Check Cashing or Western Union is making it their business to see that this matter is resolved. Two of the Western Union customer service agents have been rude beyond belief, cutting off this end of the conversation to bark about 'security', refusing to listen to relevent information, or to transfer the call to a supervisor. Today Saturday apr 18 have a check and was in need of some cash and my bank were close already and saw this place was trying to cash my check and I stay almost 1h with no results. They try to verify many things, they did try to call the person who write the check ( he didn't answer at that time for some reason) and ask for my social security number they did open a profile for me there ( I'm not sure how legal is that to keep my info there) which I no needed, also they ask for some references and do fill up some forms... and in the end they said that I should come back Monday to try again. When I ask to make a copy of the paper they have on file with me they said can not do that which ridiculous and the clerks was not professional she wasn't nice she didn't know many things and make me feel uncomfortable and treat like a robber. The slowest... ok not the slowest but I swear this place is NO BUENO. Your estimated wait time can be anywhere from 20 min-1 hour. I only needed a money order. There was about 4 people in line. Two employees but only 1 window. 1 freaking window was open!! Like if you see a line of people, couldn't you stop what you was doing to help and then go back to what you was doing? Do people not understand the importance of time management? I had to wait 30 min because 1 employee would help another then shut down their window. So we was on this one at a time standstill the entire time. I only wanted a money order. They need an express line. Things that take 10 min or less needs it's own line. They do not follow the protocol on their own website - the website says they will automatically deduct from the check you give them. Instead they harass you to come in and pay - and they call using the check "collections" as if your going to get in trouble for them having to use it. They do not have a consistent workforce. I used to see the same set of NICE, BEAUTIFUL ladies working in there - now its a different set of people every time I go in, except for one young woman I see consistently (who is actually nice). One of the stars is just for her. I bet there's some part-time abuse going on there... and I would guess there's some haterade flowing from someone in charge (someone who can't be around people who have better qualities then themselves). They are under-staffed and sometimes the line can be at the door with only one person working the window. There is also no security person there - so its a crime waiting to happen. The one good thing is they have a seven day period before they will skip to the next payday on payday loans. Most places I go to only give you 2 days - which is pathetic. Sometimes they do not answer the phone, I was calling this morning and got nothing. A business should always answer the phone. read more

I hate how customer service is like non existent in Oakland went this am at 8:50 am to pay registration and the manager had just walked away from a customer but couldn't let me pay registration cuz she had to leave like hadn't. One of the worst customer service I've experienced in a while and this coming from the manager there. They can't seem to handle the three customers they had at the time. The manger is very rude and lacks customer service training, makes me wonder how she got to be manager the other ladies were more pleasant and knowledgeable. The manager "Lourdes" doesn't explain their money exchange policy and automatically has an attitude with my mother and I because we didn't know the policy and she decides she doesn't want to help us and top of that I was interpreting for my mother and we both had masks on and she wouldn't let me get close to my mom so I can interpret for her. I was very impressed with the two young ladies that assisted me today. I liked the way that they did their job, they took pride in their job, and doing it right. I just watched, in a kind of shame, some video of a girl working at a "Checker's" restaurant somewhere. She took a burger bun, swiped it around on the floor and proceeded to make someone's burger, simply shameful, but today, to witness these two young ladies, literally do every step they were trained to do. They executed flawlessly, and courteously, I wrote them a note on a blank receipt( before I realized that I just passed a note to a teller on camera...) to tell them that I was proud of both of them, it was then that the young lady that had helped me, the other one was the store manager- told me that she was still quite new to the position.
