I have been a AAA roadside service member for 12 years. I've received good service over the years however today I was totally scammed about their battery warranty and can no longer recommend them. I had to get my car towed by AAA Friday because my car wouldn't start. My mechanic updated me Friday afternoon that the battery was dead and they were charging it. Then today, Monday he told me the battery was bad and could not hold a charge. I called AAA and asked if it was still under warranty- they said yes, ordered a driver and told me I needed to be at the mechanic to receive service. I confirmed they could do the service at the mechanic's and they said yes. I waited 2 hours and multiple phone calls to customer service for someone to show up. When the driver named Jope finally arrived, he asked me how often I drive. I said "every day." He then asked to see my mechanics work- my mechanic showed him their testing device and explained the battery won't hold a charge. The AAA provider then mumbled that if I don't drive enough... I interrupted him and told him the facts again: "I DRIVE THIS CAR EVERYDAY." He then said he has to jump it. My mechanic informed him he and AAA have to assume all responsibility for anything that may happen should he jump it in his shop. If the AAA service member is so certain that jumping it is a valid idea after my mechanic already ran and showed him these tests, then why did the service member step out of the shop to call AAA? He then told me he couldn't provide service inside the shop even though AAA told me earlier on the phone that as long as I was there, he could. I reminded him I was told on the phone my battery is protected under warranty and I was told on the phone I would be given a battery replacement. He said he had to jump it first. I asked him if he could jump it on the street he said yes but that he couldn't help roll my car out on the street. I then went inside to ask my mechanic if he and his shop would move the car to the street. While we were discussing this, the AAA service member must have driven off as when I stepped back outside to confirm we could roll it out, he was gone. Literally nowhere to be seen on the block or area. When I called AAA to file a compliant, they offered to send another driver. But why would I agree to that? So I could wait another 2 hours to be blamed for a battery that no longer works after 3 years by the next service person suggesting it died because I don't drive as much as I say I do??? Uh, no thanks. So not only did AAA give me false information on the phone, the service member refused to replace the battery, tried to gaslight me into thinking the battery didn't work because I don't drive enough (you can check the mileage I drive every single day!!) and then disappeared on the job without saying why, without coming into the shop to ask if/how I wanted to proceed. He literally vanished. This is the worst service I have ever received. I have lost complete respect and trust in AAA after being a loyal customer for well over a decade and will be looking for a replacement as I continue to share what happened to me on as many review sites as I can. STAY AWAY FROM THEIR BATTERY SERVICE. ABSOLUTE SCAMMERS WHO TEACH THEIR SERVICE PROVIDERS TO MAKE FALSE ACCUSATIONS AGAINST DRIVERS, WHO DON'T HAVE FAITH IN THE SAFETY OF THEIR OWN PROTOCOL, AND WHO VANISH MID SERVICE. read more

My first time at this AAA branch. It was so nice. I was greeted by the door. Wait for my turn and an associate name Tatyana J helps me with my car registration and other things that i need to do for my car. She was so nice and helpful. Tatyana was also training a new employee at the time I was there. She was very nice with her new coworker. I observed her being very polite. So let me start off by saying I really appreciate that AAA offers so much for your loyalty as a customer! Top pro reason to have AAA membership hands down! We came here to get a few DMV things taken care of and quite honestly the process seemed to be so seamless but unfortunately in the end wasn't the case. The staff was very friendly but at the same time such sticklers about things that come to find out were not even necessary. We were told we had to come back with all this paper work and then we could get our business finished. So we filled out all the documents and ended up having to go to a different AAA. Once we got there the agent told us all we did wasn't necessary and also we had a few wrong forms for what we needed so then he allowed us to fix it right there and proceeded to handle all our business so quickly! My downfall with this particular branch is obviously they don't really know what's necessary to do a title transfer and maybe they need to get a little more training. Manager included because she also came out and made it a big deal that we didn't have certain things that weren't needed in the end. All in all will I come back here? Yeah sure, but only for something less complicated in the future. read more

I'm extremely disappointed with both the service I received and the recommendation from AAA. While visiting Pleasanton, my car broke down at Costco, and I called AAA for assistance. Since Harry's Auto Repair was listed as a recommended shop, I asked the tow driver to take me there. When I arrived, I clearly explained to the receptionist (the owner's daughter) that the issue was the starter. Despite that, I was later charged $189 for a "diagnostic" fee--something that is typically applied toward the repair cost, not added on top of it. I was also significantly overcharged for the starter itself. A brand-new AC Delco starter is available through GM for around $401, yet I was charged $646. On top of that, I was hit with a $32 credit card fee that was never disclosed in advance. Had I known, I would have paid with a debit card. The total came out to $1,103, which feels excessive and unjustified given the circumstances. This experience has left me very frustrated, especially considering this shop came recommended by AAA. I also emailed several AAA representatives regarding this issue and have received no response. I believe I am owed at least a $480 refund and will be raising this issue directly with AAA. I would not recommend this business based on my experience. read more

Came in for my usual annual membership and auto registration renewal. One of the reasons I love coming here for these services is the friendly greeting at the door entrance, the wait time is very minimal, informative atmosphere and I just found out you can have your passport pictures done here. "WOW!!!!!" You've got to admit that's providing service. Now about today's visit. What was great about this visit was that Tatiana I hope I spelled her name correctly. Went above and beyond my expectations of service by making me aware and helping me with a DMV issue with one of my vehicles I didn't even know I had. We have a vacation coming up and will end up in Miami. This will be our first time there and we need to figure out how much time we want to spend there as well as where to stay before we book the airfare. We know that we need to keep it at no longer than 6 nights in an effort to control costs and also so our dog won't think that she's been abandoned. We dropped into this AAA office to see what they might have in the way of maps. The woman who was greeting clients and directing them where to go for assistance told us to have a seat and she would be right with us. I regret that I failed to ask her name. Her customer service with us and interactions that we saw with other members was exemplary. She took the time to understand exactly what we wanted, brought over a couple of other maps that she thought might be useful to us and engaged a co-worker to look in "the back" to see if it might be in stock. She also offered to order what we wanted if we wouldn't mind waiting for a couple of weeks for the order to arrive. Such quality of service is such a rarity anymore. Came here to transfer car ownership. This AAA location is my family's favorite and I can see why. The service is really helpful, and I was able to get my first-ever car insurance here. Unlike the DMV, it's the customer service is smooth and timely here. Everyone is very professional. During the panemdic, social distancing was enforced! People lined up outside, and there were chairs inside for customers in the queue. Last time I was here, there were a lot of 2000s music played, including Linkin Park's "New Divide," Cascada's "Everytime We Touch," and Evanescence's "My Immortal." Totally took me back to the nostalgic days of 2000s radios! Whoever was in charge of music here has great taste. read more

I recently purchased a vehicle and needed to get it registered so I utilized my membership benefit and made an appointment on line for their DMV services. I was kept up to date via text and when I arrived to the branch for my appoint, it was easy peasy. I walked in and told the front desk that I had an appointment and was asked to take a seat while they informed the folks that I had arrived. I waited about 3 mins before I was called up to the counter, completed a couple of signatures and was done. I anticipated the visit to be longer, but I was done within 15 mins. It's been more than 2 1/2 years since I wrote my last review, so I guess it's no surprise that Elite status continues to elude me. My girlfriend and I both have a long list of reviews we intend to write - both positive and negative - but if you're anything like us, you're busier than ever. How is it that, despite saving heaps of time no longer commuting because the apocalypse has shut things down, we find ourselves with less and less free time? Anyway, I've come out of my review-writing hiatus because this AAA location is *that* good. This is probably the fourth time I've visited this location for DMV matters in the last six months, and each time I'm there, I'm reminded how worth it my AAA membership is. Not only am I saving heaps of time not at the DMV, the people here in this office are downright pleasant and friendly. Seriously, it's not just one or two of the people there (remember, this was my fourth visit this year); I've had the pleasure of having at least three different people help me at with DMV services, not to mention the three different people I've seen working the front. Helpful, friendly, patient, thorough . . . I could go on and on, but I'll cut to the chase and say that I continue to be impressed. This has been the complete *opposite* of everything you might expect in a proverbial visit to the DMV. You'll save time, you may save money, you'll fill out less paperwork, and you'll leave with a smile. Thank you again, and keep up the great work. Scot Kunselman is a great service provider and asset for the AAA Oakland Rockridge Branch. We had been notified that our current home insurance provider opted to not renew our home insurance this year, due to its conclusion of potential fire danger in the Berkeley hills. Hence, an immediate search for a replacement home insurance provider. I reached out to Scot, via a very positive referral from our neighbor. Scot reacted very proactively and knowledgeably, with a very professional and reasonable quote for home insurance. He contacted me continuously and made sure he took into account all of the things we were concerned/interested in. We ultimately ended up with another service provider. However, I am super impressed with Scot's proactive and customer focused service (I had not received this level of service from our Berkeley branch--no callbacks or followups by the insurance person assigned to us). I was happy to find out that I can save myself hours at the DMV line and come to this location and pay $60 for roadside assistance and be able to renew my registration at the same time. On top of me not having to wait more than 5 min to speak to someone I was also able to get insurance here. The main reason I'm writing this review is to shout them out on really good seamless customer service. Everyone was super professional and you can tell that everyone is on the same page in regards to the level of service. Purchased a car from a friend and had to transfer the title. Was able to swing by this branch without an appointment and get that all taken care of, without ever having to set foot inside the DMV or deal with certified mail and confusion with billing. There were at least 4-6 people in front of my and I was in and out in 30 minutes. Also super covid safe. The doors are locked and they have someone do intake at the door before you enter. The line has chairs spaced 6ft apart and you just move up to the next chair as you get through the queue. There is hand sanitizer available everywhere and they have a bucket of clean pens and dirty pens. Everyone was super friendly! read more

I recommend this AAA office. The people working here are friendly and professional. They know how to help members. Obvious they all like their jobs and enjoy assisting members. I visited to obtain an International Drivers Permit for an upcoming vacation. My travel agent told me AAA takes the passport photo (no appointment needed-better photo than the Post Office) and processes the IDP. Super easy. Filled out the application on the AAA website. Printed it and the Rockridge office took the photo and handed me the IDP, all in less than 30 minutes. If you need passport photos this is the place to go. I've been a AAA member since 1969, and I didn't know about the passport photo service. read more
