If I'm ever in need of catering services in the future I would feel very comfortable in hiring California Cookout without feeling like I need to shop around again. I hired California Cookout to cater my mom's Memorial Service/Celebration of Life in July 2021 and I was very happy with my choice of caterers. With Covid19 restrictions loosening up, people getting vaccinated, etc. we and the rest of the world decided it was time to gather with friends and family. It was so hard to find venues and caterers because everyone was booked. California Cookout was also booked, but to my huge relief Nathan Bauman went out of his way to help me out. He had his head guy work my event while he worked the other one. Nothing about the food and service made me feel like I was squeezed in even though that's exactly what he had to do. The food was outstanding! Several guests commented on how good it was. There were plenty of delicious choices, but I went with the Santa Maria Mesquite Grilled Tri-Tip and Marinated Chicken. I chose the Picnic Package for my sides which included Potato Salad, Cole Slaw, BBQ Beans, rolls and butter, and seedless watermelon. It was perfect for a daytime event on a hot day. Everything was delicious, but what really stood out to me were the entrees. Both the Tri-Tip and the Marinated Chicken were full of wonderful flavor, juicy and tender. I never get the chicken at catered events because it's always overcooked and somewhat dry and bland. Not this one though! Nathan's prices are quite reasonable too. Of all the catering companies I looked at California Cookout was the best value. In the end Nathan was at our event and it was a pleasure to meet him. He's good guy, easy to work with, and once I hired his catering company, I felt I didn't have to worry about a thing, and I was right. read more

They provided everything necessary from utensils, a carving station, food warmers, and of course their delicious food. They were even gracious enough to leave the food warmers for the duration of the party. I couldn't ask for more from a catering company. Amazing! I'm an event planner but used California Cookout for my birthday. Since I deal with events all the time, I put myself last and contacted them with two weeks notice. I was hesitant to try someone new (my favorite bbq guy passed away from covid unfortunately). I was not disappointed. They came through and went above and beyond. I usually give away my leftovers but this time I took it all home. However, my most favorite part of the experience was how simple it was to book with them.
