California Donuts is an ol' reliable in my book. Each time I've gone here I've enjoyed the pizza croissant and their fresh donuts. Their food presentation is so nice and I do think that the flavors described on the donuts delivers - which is really lovely because they have quite a range! Ordering is a little interesting because you talk to the staff through the actual window, but they can hear you perfectly. My only gripes are that the parking situation is super minimal here, but it hasn't been a problem for evening trips. I also noticed that the donut glaze often gets kinds melty by the next day. Not sure what to do about that but they're great fresh.

I've wanted to visit California Donuts for a long time, as I've heard from many friends that they have great donuts, and I finally got the chance to try them. I ordered a half-dozen, which included cookies and cream, Reese's, and marzipan, among other flavors that I don't recall. I preferred the marzipan and Reese's the best, especially the Reese's, which is stuffed with peanut butter. I recommend heating it in the microwave for the best taste. While the donuts didn't completely impress me, I'm glad I tried them. They have many varieties and something for everyone. The donuts are worth 3.5-4 stars. I wouldn't wait in line for them, but I would stop by if I were nearby. They aren't worth a long drive, though.

My husband and I were driving by around 8pm when we noticed a line outside this donut shop and decided to stop in since we love trying new places. Even with a few people ahead of us, the wait was only a couple of minutes. It's a walk up window setup where they take your order through a speaker and the donuts on display looked amazing. We ordered a half dozen including the glazed, Boston cream, chocolate twist, Reese's, and Girl Scout Samoa. Honestly, for the time of night, the donuts tasted as if they had just been made. They were incredibly light, fluffy and fresh not dense and cakey like a lot of other donut shops. The only one that didn't hit was the Girl Scout Samoa flavor. It didn't really taste like what we expected, but the donut itself was still delicious. Everything else was fantastic. Our go to donut spot has always been DK's, but I think we may have found our new favorite sweet treat stop. I also love that they're open 24 hours, accept Apple Pay and cards and offer discounts too, $2 off a half dozen and $5 off a full dozen. Definitely recommend checking them out, no matter what time of day it is!

This place is known for their amazing, signature donuts. Their system is pretty organized and straightforward. You fall in line, someone will attend to you and take your orders then you pay for it at the end of the line. They have so many options and staff are pretty helpful. If you like donuts, especially cute ones, definitely give this place a try. Lastly, just like any other spots in LA, this spot is located in a tiny plaza with very few parking so prepare to look for it off street orrrr just give up and give it another try next time (kidding... not really)!

Variety. Quality. 24/7 availability. I don't know what more a donut fan could ask for. This place is great and the donuts are delicious. My favorite so far has been the croissant donut (It's called something else) it was amazing! My friend swears by the Peanut Butter & Jelly.

Came back here because I was in the area and didn't regret it for once. Parking and getting in to the plaza is always atrocious so beware. Lots of different donuts in stock but none of my favorites anymore. It's okay though because it gave me a chance to try some basics and this donut shop does basics so well! I got the blueberry cake and it's so unique because they made it in an old fashion mold and it's perfect for this donut because it made so many nice crispy edges and the perfect amount of glaze and the donut was moist too! So now I know to not be disappointed I need to be buying the basic donuts here take notes people you can never go wrong with basics! Their packaging is cute and modern and service was quick and nice. I'll be back now that I finally know what to order. Hope they keep the blueberry cake in their rotation and daily flavor.

Been coming here since my college days, California Donuts never disappoints! My favorite is the strawberry and nut. Fresh, fluffy, and always creative. A must-stop sweet spot in LA. Service is always great and this is the perfect ambiance for a late night snack. It got me through after club nights

Been coming here for years, always fresh donuts for being 24hr in impressed!! So many delicious flavors and options to pick from. Also don't sleep on their coffee, it's quit good !!

My coworker kindly brought a box of an assorted dozen to the office and I got to try a few different doughnuts. They had good flavor, but were a little too greasy. I think their heyday has passed... will stick to Sidecar. 3.5 stars.

new favorite glazed donuts! it's not too sweet and more vanilla flavoring than a regular glazed donut. mouth watering at the idea of trying more of their donuts.

When I first discovered this place over a decade ago, I didn't think it would be all that. No one went here and it was just a place that served donuts. Then they started making fancier and fancier donuts and became super popular. Before all that happened though, someone told me how they had $2,50 ham, cheese and jalapeño croissants. When I tried my first one, I was blown away, but then was even more amazed at the one with turkey. I couldn't believe my taste buds. Did Asians make a better croissant than the French? How was this even possible? Anyway, I've spent countless times coming back here to get croissants, because they are absolutely phenomenal. I love these more than any other croissants I've tried out here and could recommend these to anyone to try. They're open 24 hours, so time doesn't not discriminate against the desire for a goodie at any time of day. They also make really good cream puffs and donuts too, but I have kind of deprioritized sweets in my life. The ambiance is outdoors, so it is what it is, but the service is great because they'll toast your croissant on the spot for you. I love the croissants here and even though they raised the price to somewhere in between $5.50 to $6.25 (I think it's $6.25 after tax?), I will keep eating them. Just not in as big of a quantity as I used to get, thanks to inflation...

LIFE AFFIRMING EXPERIENCE WARNING! THIS California Donuts is amazing. Almost every donut I've had here has been solid, if not better--that's for certain. Selection is always exceptional, ranging from simple cake donuts to cronuts and everything tasty in between. Honestly, you can't go wrong with any choice here. Now to the life-affirming moments... YES, TWO!!! The first was when I got a fresh cronut there. The sweet, decadent, pillowy, heaven-sent deliciousness just melted in my mouth. I almost had to pull over--it was such a sensation shock in the best way. I must have had the dumbest smile on my face from the sheer delight that cronut gave me. None have surpassed that. The second affirming experience was when I went down when their apple fritters JUST came out. THIS IS WORTH DOING. I literally started laughing from ecstasy when I started eating it. I was only going to order one, but that idea died after a bite. I'm not too ashamed that I did that in a moment of weakness, because that donut was magic... but it was gluttonous, in all fairness. Either way, THIS CALIFORNIA DONUTS is a must-try in LA--especially for apple fritter lovers. Just get there early!!!!!

The lemon loaf slice is huge, I'd say it's the equivalent of two slices, so it's definitely big enough to share. As for the cookies, Levain is known for making them thick and rich. A small piece goes a long way, making them perfect for savoring over a couple of days (if you have that much self-control!). The moment you walk inside, you're greeted by the incredible aroma of freshly baked pastries, and the service was warm and welcoming. I got a sausage bbang, a chocopie, and a dalgona latte. The sausage bbang was soggy on the bottom and honestly tasted like it was from the day before. The chocopie barely had any filling, just a thin layer of marshmallow and jam. It honestly felt like they used most of the marshmallow for their Dubai choco cookie because it's probably more profitable, instead of properly filling the chocopie. If that's the case, it's better not to sell it at all than serve something like that. The dalgona latte was also disappointing. With ice, the drink only filled to the bottom third line of the cup marking. Clearly, they skimped on the milk. There was also a weird moment when I paid. My total was $15.25 and I paid cash, but I was given $4.75 in change. When I said it should be $5, she seemed confused and asked what I meant. I told her I literally gave you a quarter right now, and she questioned it before eventually giving me the correct change. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and assume it was a mistake. I understand times are hard, but charging more for products that clearly had corners cut doesn't sit right with me. It just comes across like there's no integrity. Clearly the quality and portions are going downhill. I wasn't even planning on writing this review. I was going to stay quiet, but the chocopie really ticked me off. I'm not going to pay for food that skims on ingredients and shortchanges customers by charging more for less, so this will be my last visit.

And I know that vanilla cupcakes with buttercream frosting is pretty easy to make, but sometimes I'd rather just buy baked goods than make them for myself, especially when I'm driving past what I thought was a popular (and presumably good) bake shop. I expected a high-quality cupcake. The cupcakes looked cute, but they were as dry as the Sahara. They should have been labeled as white cupcakes as I didn't detect any vanilla in them. I suspect that the "buttercream" was made with milk and margarine and powdered sugar.....so much powdered sugar. It was sickeningly sweet, and it was dry too. And a true bettercream doesn't even use powdered sugar. So not only were the cupcakes terrible, they were not even what they purported to be. This is like calling a cut of meat a filet mignon and serving a hamburger. Von's, Ralphs and Albertson's make better cupcakes than this for a fraction of othe price.
