This donut shop was the place I went to whenever I was feeling down and just needed an indulgent treat when I lived in Ktown. I took my family here recently and the donuts were great! We got the PB&J (one of my favorites), Maple, Glazed, and Jelly Filled Donuts and all of them were fluffy, sweet, and great. Also great for sharing. Everything was solid; not the best donuts out there, but still good. They also have drinks available like coffee and Thai Tea. The prices are generally solid here. I like how they're open late, so it's a great place to go when you're craving a sweet treat in the middle of the night. Parking is limited, so street parking is the best. This is more of a grab and go type of spot, but you can always enjoy your donuts right outside the shop. read more

I've been coming to California Donuts since long before the kids took over and it became the fancy Instagram spot. Back then, it was just a great 24-hour donut shop in Koreatown, and the best compliment I can give is that it's still great now that it's famous. The thing I love is that you get to choose your era. Want the old-school stuff, a plain glazed, a proper old-fashioned, the classics done right? They've got you. Want the new-school showpieces, the cereal-topped ones, the panda, the over-the-top specialty donuts that built their following? Those are right there, too. A lot of places lose the plot when they get popular and chase the trends. This place added the flash without ever ditching the fundamentals. California Donuts is an ol' reliable in my book. Each time I've gone here I've enjoyed the pizza croissant and their fresh donuts. Their food presentation is so nice and I do think that the flavors described on the donuts delivers - which is really lovely because they have quite a range! Ordering is a little interesting because you talk to the staff through the actual window, but they can hear you perfectly. My only gripes are that the parking situation is super minimal here, but it hasn't been a problem for evening trips. I also noticed that the donut glaze often gets kinds melty by the next day. This donut shop is located in a very small plaza with free parking right in front, but there are only like 12-15 parking spaces that are always full. This place is known for their amazing, signature donuts. Their system is pretty organized and straightforward. You fall in line, someone will attend to you and take your orders then you pay for it at the end of the line. They have so many options and staff are pretty helpful. My husband and I were driving by around 8pm when we noticed a line outside this donut shop and decided to stop in since we love trying new places. Even with a few people ahead of us, the wait was only a couple of minutes. It's a walk up window setup where they take your order through a speaker and the donuts on display looked amazing. We ordered a half dozen including the glazed, Boston cream, chocolate twist, Reese's, and Girl Scout Samoa. Honestly, for the time of night, the donuts tasted as if they had just been made. They were incredibly light, fluffy and fresh not dense and cakey like a lot of other donut shops. The only one that didn't hit was the Girl Scout Samoa flavor. It didn't really taste like what we expected, but the donut itself was still delicious. Everything else was fantastic. Our go to donut spot has always been DK's, but I think we may have found our new favorite sweet treat stop. I also love that they're open 24 hours, accept Apple Pay and cards and offer discounts too, $2 off a half dozen and $5 off a full dozen. So today is national donut day; had no clue. I'm in healthcare so as I got off night shift last night I stopped by to get a donut. I see people waiting for something but I ended up getting 2 donuts and a coffee; this came out to $18 which is pretty expensive. I ended up waiting in the line of folks about 10 people deep and it was SoCal Honda people giving out gift cards for donuts. I was like well man I already paid. So I said cool I'll grab donuts before tonight's shift and come back with the "gift card". I returned just now, and they tell me that the card was only good for earlier when the Honda people were there. And mind you I already asked for 6 donuts to bring to my coworkers and a ham and cheese croissant. This came out to $19.50. Came back here because I was in the area and didn't regret it for once. Parking and getting in to the plaza is always atrocious so beware. Lots of different donuts in stock but none of my favorites anymore. It's okay though because it gave me a chance to try some basics and this donut shop does basics so well! I got the blueberry cake and it's so unique because they made it in an old fashion mold and it's perfect for this donut because it made so many nice crispy edges and the perfect amount of glaze and the donut was moist too! So now I know to not be disappointed I need to be buying the basic donuts here take notes people you can never go wrong with basics! Their packaging is cute and modern and service was quick and nice. The half dozen was a little over $20 so yes it was expensive but then again these were specialty donuts. I only had three which were the bacon maple bar, the cookies n cream, and the cookies butter.
