The ice cream was solid, but everything else was meh . Customer service was lacking, and the shop itself looked messy and unkempt. Prices are steep too, hovering around $9 for a kid's size, $13 for a regular, and $14+ if you want one of their specialty creations. With great alternatives nearby (Honeymee, SomiSomi, Bumsan) neither the price nor the service gives me much reason to return. read more

Customer service is terrible , asked for napkins girl with glasses and piercings rolled her eyes and told me there was some near the cash register and continued doing what she was doing . Place looked unkept with and very unwelcoming , get better staff seems like it's an ongoing issue . read more

Sometimes I just want some ice cream before heading home on a Saturday night and a few weeks ago, that lead me to stopping at Holy Roly Ice Cream in Koreatown. With a super small parking lot, we ended up having to park down the street which wasn't bad till the downpour started on the way back (clearly not this places fault). The place itself is pretty darn small only having a few small tables and enough space for a line, which doesn't really matter since it's an ice cream joint, but figured I would bring it up just in case. In typical me fashion, I knew what I wanted the second I glance at the menu and that is the Vanilla Oreo! This cup was rolled vanilla ice cream, oreo cookies, a little chocolate fudge, and what I think was some cookie chunks on top, but I'm stupid so who really knows. The ice cream itself was really good and the ingredients on top all tasted delicious as well. Overall, this place definitely did it for me. It's been ages since I've had rolled ice cream and this place's quick service and delicious ice cream definitely won me over and will keep me coming back in the future. I wanted some ice cream after a dinner with my boyfriend recently and the experience was such a fun treat! Service was super friendly--everyone behind the counter was so patient and kind, i didn't feel rushed at all while picking my flavor (I'm so indecisive). The inside is pretty simple, not much seats so it's meant to be a grab and go thing, I went at night so the front was lit up and had a really nice post worthy feel which made it perfect if you wanted to just talk with friends while you wait. It's definitely a spot that makes you feel good and happy as soon as you walk in. As for the ice cream itself, I got the salted caramel which was super good yet super sweet but nonetheless still delicious! Sweet treat craving satisfied! Came here on a Tuesday around 8:30 pm. The store itself only has a couple of tables for indoor seating but luckily we were able to snatch the last table. As with most of Koreatown, there is limited parking here. We ordered early grey and matcha rolled ice creams. Despite ordering the kids size, these cups were actually relatively big for a kids size in my opinion - was definitely feeling quite full afterward!! The earl grey and matcha flavors were prominent in both ice creams, and the toasted marshmallow and pocky were a cute touch. Would visit again! read more

It was my first time trying rolled ice cream. Although ice cream is everything to me, I didn't anticipate it to be so normal. I think if my kids were little and I wanted to bring them somewhere for a little treat and a show then this would be it, but my kids are now in their twenties so all they care about is flavor. I think this is a fantastic place to bring the little ones, but the ice cream in itself tastes a little cheap. It's very thin and you can tell there's not a lot of fat content in the ice cream. I absolutely believe it's a great idea for the kids, but if you're not there for the show, this might not be for you. Staff was just okay, they are not interactive. The place is clean and it's super cute inside. On the plus side of things it's nice that we can see them working their magic. The staff worked pretty quickly and they look like they all work together, but I think the whole thing w the rolled ice cream is to be a bit interactive. Anyway, if you haven't tried rolled ice cream then you should check it out for yourself, you never know... you might love it! P.S. parking is a hot mess! Make sure to bring cash to pay the valet $5 because they don't take card and there's literally no where to park, unless the locals are hiding something from us out of towners. read more

Wanting to treat ourselves to some gourmet ice cream after some long walking, my wife and I stopped into K-town's instance of the two store chain Holy Roly Ice Cream shop. We hadn't been here for a while, but found it the same as before. It wasn't too busy, so the hand rolled ice cream cup (which takes a bit of time to make) was ready relatively quickly. The soft ice cream is thinly spackled on a very cold stone, and then quickly scraped in one motion, creating rolls. These five rolls are then deposited vertically in a cup, and topped with toppings. We got the standard size of the coffee oreo, with a coffee base ice cream ($12) and crushed oreo topping. We came here for dessert because this is one of the few places left for rolled ice cream, and we enjoyed every moment of it! Most rolled ice cream places I've been to be before seemed to be a little too slow when they got busy, but Holy Roly has three (!) ice cream rolling tables so they're able to keep up. Rolled ice cream itself is a fun concept, the menu here is reasonably varied, and there's just enough seating. Minus half a star because the ambiance inside is just a bit too plain, and could use just a tad bit more decoration - the front area is nice as is the pseudo-patio, but the rear 80% seems badly in need of something. read more

The location isn't great, parking is crazy annoying over here and the lot is valet. Outside of that the ice cream was delicious, something about rolled ice cream makes for the perfect texture. I loved the variety of the rolled ice cream at Holy Roly. I tried the tiramisu and the banana nutella, and they were so yummy, even in the chilly winter weather. Craving a late night treat? This spot is open late, til 11pm. Since I got it delivered, I didnt get the interactive experience that others mentioned. But my icecream looked great. I got strawberries and chocolate chips added which helped to balance out the almonds, which im not a fan of. Everything tasted fresh and it was delicious! The flavor of the tiramisu was perfect- not too sweet and had a yummy coffee flavor. They topped it off with chocolate covered coffee beans and those were good but not my favorite (I've had better). The ice cream was ok, for my kid tho it was very hard to eat it, it was falling apart and very hard to get on the spoon, and my kid had rolled ice cream before. Came in looking for coffee. Their system was down. Initially I thought that it was a coffee shop. No it's an ice cream/ coffee shop and it's confusing until they tell you where to order coffee and where to order ice cream. The ice cream was good. Customer service could be a lot better. The bathroom needs a little TLC and so do the clouds in the lobby. No one wants to breathe dust or for it to possibly fall on their food. Overall the ice cream pulls its weight. Then I got attitude for placing an order and asking a question on why the regular size is $12 and why the iPad says it's $13. She gave me an empty answer but whatever. Then the workers just stared at me in silence while I was waiting to pay, without saying a word or letting me know what to do. Great variety of ice cream flavors from French toast to coffee cookies and cream. I got the matcha flavor with mini mochi and condensed milk, very creamy. The kid size was perfect. Some flavors are only in regular size. More on the expensive side for ice cream but you pay for the experience. They roll your ice cream right in front of you. Ambiance is chill. It holds a surprisingly generous amount of ice cream and doesn't melt so long as you stay inside or are not in hot weather.

I don't remember the exact name of the coconut flavor, but it was really delicious! The ice cream was absolutely delicious, and the service was also excellent. We were very happy with our visit. I've also heard that McConnell's uses high-quality ingredients, and I really hope that's true because you can definitely taste the quality in the ice cream. I would definitely come back again! A little while ago, I heard that McConnell's ice cream is made with high-quality ingredients, so I bought a bunch of it from Whole Foods Market and stocked up at home.

Maybe we have an advantage, having lived a few blocks away. We knew where to park and when to go. As a result, we didn't spend thirty minutes parking and wait in any line here, so we weren't in a bad mood before we started eating. We found out about this spot from Maneet Chauhan since it didn't actually exist yet when we lived here. We discovered our love for rolled ice cream, of all places, at a Thai-owned and operated location in Montgomery, Alabama. Honestly, this wasn't nearly as good, but it was still really enjoyable and by LA standards, definitely worth the price. The eatery is clean and minimalistic with some seating, but most importantly, the ability to view the staff work their magic. The staff was really nice and patient with us, as we debated all of the delicious options. They have three signature touches on every single option: a Pocky stick, a well-done toasted marshmallow and whipped cream. Those come whole, which provide a textural contrast to every dish. I ordered the Banana Nutella, which was sweet in a few ways, through the banana itself, Nutella and obviously the ice cream base, which definitely has plenty of sugar. The ice cream was light and creamy, but the best part was getting a bite of fruity pebbles, aka a party in your mouth. I could've used a little bit more of some salty nuttiness to create a complete flavor profile, but it was definitely enjoyable. Everyone else devoured theirs and everyone agreed that this little detour to K-town was well worth it! Especially, since the other three in our group had never experienced rolled ice cream. Holy Roly this place is goooood! Let's start with the design... it's a modern museum that is also an ice cream shop. The typography of their signs are phenomenal. The spacing of the characters between each letter makes me ooze with the utmost happiness when I walk into the store on a cold winter night. The rose gold accents inside the store give me life knowing how awesome it is to have an ice cream store with the same aesthetic as Barney's on Fifth Ave in New York City. The first take I loved it. I bite into my first ice cream roll and it gave me instant goosebumps. I almost started chocking and needed the Heimlich, then threw my spoon to the side yeah. After the first bite of the ice cream roll I felt like I was reborn into a new universe when I took that plunge into Holy Roly. $8 for a cup of rolled ice cream when the standard base price for MAJORITY of rolled ice cream places is $6? I should've taken that as a sign but I was really hoping it would be worth it and decided to buy one anyways. I understand these types of rolled ice cream businesses so i dont mind a little bit of wait, that part was acceptable. For all the people whining about how long it takes to get your order, step in there shoes and roll ice cream all day. Time isnt a factor they can change very much, boards can only freeze the ice cream so fast so sit your butts down; you paid for handmade ice cream... it would make sense to wait for it to be HAND MADE then. Service was decent but the ice cream itself was just ok. For $8 with no waffles included with that price like other places and just average flavor, its not a place that i'd be willing to return to. Theres many other options that stick to reasonable prices and have amazing ice cream. On a side note, I hope the rollers keep up the good work~ they are awesome :) read more

I first came here during their second week of their soft opening and I haven't been back since. However I visited once again today and since it is before sunset, we were the only customers. The wait time was only between 5~10 minutes! My rolls came out looking perfect!! I got the Vanilla Oreo and it was very tasty. However I recommend that you eat it with chopsticks. The ice cream is easier to pick up! Unlike ice cream sold at markets, this ice cream tastes very light and refreshing. The oreo is not overwhelming so there is a balance between the oreo and the vanilla. While I was ordering, the workers were very helpful at helping me pick an ice cream flavor. Not only that, but I was able to sample some of the scooped ice cream. My favorite has to be the Choco Pie. I will definitely come back next time!! read more

I had high hopes for this place, but it was a huge letdown. The ice cream tasted artificial and overly sweet, like it was made with cheap ingredients. On top of that, the presentation was disappointing--nothing like the appetizing photos online. It looked sloppy and unappetizing, as if no effort was put into making it visually appealing. What really sealed the deal for me was their policy on toppings. If you want to switch out or remove any toppings, you get hit with an extra charge! It's ridiculous, especially considering how overpriced the whole thing already is. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place--poor taste, poor aesthetic, and terrible customer-friendly options. Came in here around 4 pm yesterday, it was really hot and i was craving for some oreo ice cream! Decided to try this place out since I was around the area, walked in and it looked like a nice modern ice cream shop! Looks arent what completes a business so i wanted to see what the hype was about and how it tasted. I ordered a vanilla oreo ice cream roll and omg! The ice cream is sooooo creamy and good literally melts in your mouth, Very smooth texture! Definitely coming back here, never going to a regular ice cream shop again! A reserved 4-stars for this place. The flavor and the toppings are great don't get me wrong. Service is friendly and would assist you with choosing a flavor. Place looks nice and clean, and is Instagram worthy especially when you get your rolled ice cream. The only reason I didn't give this place a perfect 5-star is because when they get busy, I mean they do get really busy, it gets too crowded since the place is not too big. And with the amount of people, rolling the ice cream takes longer too. But it is worth the time and money to taste their unique and interesting flavors. read more

Tried the Ferrero Rocher bowl, while my wife had the Oreo bowl. The chocolate ice cream base was forgettable, and the toppings didn't enhance the experience much. The marshmallows weren't warm, and the pocky stick added minimal texture. The bowls are photogenic, but overall, the taste seems gimmicky. There are only a few ice cream base options, which is disappointing. If you're comparing them to Krispy Kreme original glazed, these are definitely on the less-sweet side, but they're also much bigger. Since I personally like my donuts a little sweeter, I may have to come back and try some of their specialty donuts before I can give them that 5th star. The prices for the regular donuts are pretty reasonable, especially considering the size. Overall, a good first experience, and I'm definitely interested in trying more of their specialty flavors next time. Lastly, it's a little cozy place with warm welcoming service.

Location 4 stars: On the second floor of the Galleria Shopping Center, on the SE corner of Western and Olympic in K-Town, just west of DTLA. Free parking structure. Possibilities for street parking are very limited if any. Venue 4 stars: Nicely appointed, modern venue with comfortable tables and booths, some by the windows overlooking the city. It does get quite busy and is designed for a quick, purposeful in and out (buy, consume, leave :) )... not a Starbucks-like environment where you can camp out for hours and study or work. Service 4 stars: Staff were friendly, polite, courteous and attentive. The manager was very much present and making sure that everything was right. Menu 4 stars: Large selection of the usual coffee shop offerings, plus more: Craft coffee, matcha, shaved ice, Taiyaki (Japanese fish-shaped pastry shell with various fillings), Korean style buns, ice cream, Affogato, Boba, fruit juices, Korean and organic teas, smoothies and pastries. We had regular Cappuccinos which were quite good but everything else also looked inviting. Can't wait to go back and try their other items.

I hadn't been ready and said I needed a minute, which he waited very patiently. To not waste his time, I asked for recommendations, which he was happy to assist! He made the drink within 5 minutes, and even waited for me to come to the counter to pick up my drink rather than leave it unattended :) The royal milk tea was very good! Slightly small for the price, but not unreasonable So sad that the cafe was empty, since it used to be bustling, hopefully it was only due to being a weekday close to closing

But it's a donut shop. It can't be that good, right? Since it's a donut shop, it takes a bit longer to make here than at like a shop that just does breakfast burritos all the time. However, once you get your breakfast burrito, it's piping hot with egg, cheese, avocado, sausage and a sauce. It is sooooooo good! You can get jalapeños too, but I opted out of those. If you want a breakfast burrito for $10 at an unlikely spot, you should come here. The lady who runs it is really nice. It is either empty or super packed, no in between. And it has decent seating but it's also a donut shop. Check it out!

I don't know why some of the previous reviews are so hostile towards this place. I have been here at least five times and each visit was wonderful. We usually just stop by in the morning to get breakfast sandwiches. Their breakfast burrito is really good for the price, and they don't charge for avocado!!!! amazing. The store itself is pretty small, but cozy. There are three tables with a decent amount of seating. The parking lot is pretty standard for a plaza with small businesses in K-town, but we usually don't have trouble finding parking. Our most recent order was number 17 and 18. So mouthwatering and satisfying, ESPECIALLY for the price. Looking forward to the next time we visit!!
