    Mochi croboong
    Ainsley P.

Flaky, crunchy, and sweet croboong! It was interesting having this crossover of a croissant and ah-boong. I recommend having this freshly made or heated up to maximize the eating experience. The mochi inside was plain and didn't add any flavor. It added too much chewing for me, so next time I would get a different filling. The sugar and glaze on top of the pastry added just enough sweetness. Our pastries took about 10 minutes to be made since there were none ready in the case. 10 minutes flew by quickly and the staff let us know how long it would take before placing our order. If you don't want to pay for valet, I recommend ordering ahead for pick up or finding street parking.

Stopped by for a late night dessert and was blown away by the freshly made taiyaki croissants. We got a pack of 6 for $37 and tried the custard, red bean, mochi, Nutella, sweet potato, and cookie butter flavors. All were delicious and came out freshly made and piping hot. The mochi filling was super unique too! When we arrived there was only one person working the shop and making the taiyaki to order so it was a bit of a longer wait but totally worth it. Also tried the strawberry milk which was so yummy. Valet parking available in the plaza.

We wanted dessert after our already hefty kbbq meal and decided to come here! Since it was nearing closing time, it wasn't busy at all. We got a cookie butter croissant taiyaki and WOWW we enjoyed it so much!! It wasn't warm/fresh, so the texture and flavor wasn't at its full potential. I probably would've given this place a 5 star if I ate a freshly made one :)

Got a variety to take home and try. I should have tried it then and there because it wasn't fully cooked. They just use frozen premade dough and the ingredients were so old it smelled like the refrigerator.

Mumu Bakery and Cafe has a calm atmosphere and parking was easy around noon. They're known for their taiyakis, which are made like croissants and pressed with a hard sugar topping. You can choose from several fillings, and I went with red bean, which the lady at the front recommended along with custard and Nutella as the most popular. The taiyaki was super flaky and enjoyable, though I wish they could heat them up. The service was a bit off, one person was sitting down and didn't acknowledge me, and the other was quiet, so I just told her what I wanted.

With a sweet tooth craving, I visited Mumu Bakery Cafe because I saw they had a different take on the classic taiyaki pastry. Inside the cafe, they have just a handful of tables along the wall. They do have a really interesting corner spot with a neon "Mumu Cafe / Croissant Taiyaki" sign and a small green sapling. It makes for a photogenic shot. Service was just normal. The staff were a bit lively with their conversations. Their croissant taiyaki is the usual taiyaki, with its fish shape and filling of your choice (I did their brown sugar seed one), but it's given the flaky consistency of a croissant ($6). On top, they sprinkle on Japanese rock sugar to give it sweetness and crunch. When I first saw the finished product, I totally thought it looked like a dug up fossil (like a Pokemon Relicanth or something haha).

This bakery offers delicious Taiyaki. I believe their teriyakis are made from puff pastry dough. Every bite is crunchy and flavorful. I love the custard filling that I got. I wish the filling could be a bit thicker so it doesn't run down when eaten.

The croissant-taiyaki is definitely worth trying out. It's actually more so a croissant that's molded into the shape of taiyaki, so basically a taiyaki with a lot of flaky layers. I personally like the regular taiyaki more, but theirs was very unique, and the price was really good too, considering that getting a croissant-waffle at Heuk Haw Dang is over $10. I got the mochi filling, and mochi inside was very soft yet still chewy, very similar in consistency and texture to the drinkable mochi that some boba shops offer. The bean paste cookies on the side shelf were also very solid. They're not too sweet and you can really taste the flavor of the beans. We got the white bean paste and the flavor reminded me a lot of the bean paste filling that is used in moon cakes. However, the drinks were overpriced. I got the strawberry milk, and it was $8 for a small can, so it's more expensive than a drink you can get at a boba shop and you get much less. I liked the taste though. It was really fresh, creamy and not too sweet, but I wish the strawberry was blended because after all the milk was gone, all that was left were just small chunks of cut strawberries. I also tried the peach iced tea, and that was way too sweet.

If you're looking for a creative dessert spot, MuMu serves up a creative take on taiyaki using croissants. The staff is very friendly and patient and the cafe is very cutely decorated. I tried the sweet potato and the mochi taiyaki and the strawberry giant Madeline. The sweet potato taiyaki was absolutely the star of the show with the mild but sweet flavor of the Japanese sweet potato. The mochi is great for the person who wants a treat that isn't too sweet. And the strawberry Madeline was moist and very flavorful. If you're in Korea town definitely give this place a try!

my friends and i came on a friday evening after dinner and wow were the staff impolite. they did NOT want to help us lol. it were as if they were held at gunpoint having to take our order. the store was empty and it was just my friends and i. we tried an assortment of their taiyaki from nutella to custard to mochi. my favorite was the custard, but you do have to eat a lot of the taiyaki breading to get to the filling. if i had to be honest, it wasn't bad, but it also wasn't amazing; it was just good. only complaint is the horrible service. their bathroom is really funny too as it was plastered with many signs warning you to not flush down toilet paper down the toilet lol.

Delicious taiyaki and drinks post-dinner at a cute, clean cafe! The taiyaki dough almost resembles a croissant-like, flaky on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside type of texture. I ordered their custard taiyaki and yuzu iced tea, and while the drink was a bit on the sweet side, I'll definitely return for flavored milk and more taiyaki soon. There is a decent-sized valet parking lot that fills up fast, even on a weeknight.

Loved this bakery's take on taiyaki -- basically instead of the usual dough, it's a flaky croissant-like pastry! It had some sugar granules sprinkled on to give it an extra sweet boost. I got the red bean croissant taiyaki and definitely enjoyed it! Still soft, but had a crunch like a croissant, and the red bean was not overly sweet! Mine did not come out fresh, but I'm sure it would've tasted amazing if it was warmed up. It came out to be about $6 which I think was a tad bit pricey. Interior was small but clean. It was also warm since there was no AC. The cashier rang us up quickly as it wasn't very busy when we came on a Saturday night. We parked on the side streets for dinner earlier, but this plaza had a moderate amount of spots and even a valet area. Would love to come back to try the other flavors like the cream cheese or custard croissant taiyaki!

Based on my memories, this LA location keeps it consistent with a similar taste and texture as the NY location. 3.5/5 Chocolate Chip Walnut: This cookie was tall and slightly undercooked in the middle. The middle was a bit on the squishy side, and crunchy on the outside. Due to the undercooked quality, it's not a cookie I'd get regularly, though I am a big chocolate chip cookie fan. 5/5 Rocky Road: This was delicious. I'm not usually a marshmallow fan, but the addition of this ingredient formed a nice chewy consistency that I expect from a cookie. Chocolatey tidbits were well melted into the cookie texture and produced some fudgey notes. The cookie sizes are large and potentially shareable, and feel like an every once in awhile treat.

I got a sausage bbang, a chocopie, and a dalgona latte. The sausage bbang was soggy on the bottom and honestly tasted like it was from the day before. The chocopie barely had any filling, just a thin layer of marshmallow and jam. It honestly felt like they used most of the marshmallow for their Dubai choco cookie because it's probably more profitable, instead of properly filling the chocopie.
