Solid, not spectacular but a nice healthy option in the Antelope Valley. My wife and I went here after spending the entire day schlepping my Dad's things into a UHaul. We hadn't been back here together since he passed and noticed a bunch of new restaurants. The California Fish Grill was one of them. The menu is self service and a bit confusing for some of us....but we figured out. The young man at register was a terrific host and quite positive. He was great with all the customers including us. Wifey ordered a shrimp skewer and I ordered either grilled Swordfish or Ahi Tuna with brown rice and corn. Delicious, nicely seasoned, and served warm. Overall a nice visit. The Rockfish comes as plate or Bowl- we went with the Bowl with rice, slaw, and corn and a generous side of avocado. The Rockfish is a white fish that had the yummy Teriyaki Dynamite sauce that was sweet with a bit of spicy zing. I'll be asking for that sauce on future orders of salmon because I love it! The fried shrimp tacos is a consistent popular dish for my friend. NEW! THEY CHANGED THE COD FISH in Fish and Chips. The fried crust is thicker and crunchier, the cod is tiny bit thinner piece but wider piece. If you like extra crispy coatings (like KFC without their seasoning) then this is for you! It's a cute traditional fast food eatery with a small patio outside. It's not a hang out all day and night patio, but large enough to enjoy a quick lunch with friends. So I had seen someone pick up some tacos and they were bragging about the protein content. A couple days later I was on the go and had to grab lunch out so I figured I'd get some tacos from here and meet my protein numbers for the meal. I ordered two: the Cajun shrimp one and the friend fish one. The shrimp one was a must order and I didn't need to put anything on it. It had plenty of flavor and didn't need any additional sauces in my opinion. The fish taco on the other hand not only lacked in basic seasoning, but it was so greasy that I couldn't even finish half. I would not order this item again. As far as service goes I was treated immediately upon entering which was great because the place was packed. Food was good except they unfortunately overcooked my salmon. My plate also came with a filet of swai which was delicious. Loved the Brussels sprouts. The concept is sort of like fast food. You order at the front, take a seat, and wait for them to yell your name. They missed a couple of our sides and brought them out to our table directly. The employees were friendly and helpful. They have a large fish menu with many different type of fish options cooked in a variety of ways. We both ordered the Mahi Mahi and it was fantastic. They have many side options and I chose to go healthy with the cauliflower rice and corn salad. My wife had a petite salmon salad and substituted Mahi Mahi for the salmon.
