I am happily writing this five star review for California Pet Doors. This is a family business with LJ doing the installs and his son running the factory. The door is made in Idaho and shipped to your home. LJ was very responsive and helpful in recommending the right size for my pooch. The door arrived from the factory when they said it would, and LJ installed the day after the door arrived at my home. He is a carpenter by trade, so I was comfortable with him cutting a hole in my wall. The work looks great, and LJ even had some tips for training my dog to use the door. The door has a security feature so I can seal it up when we go on trips. This is a huge improvement over what we had before. I highly recommend California Pet Doors. Thanks LJ and team! read more

We called California Pet Doors to get a door installed ag our new home for our Siberian Husky. We previously had one that we inserted into our sliding door, and they recommended that we get one in the wall instead considering how big he is. We ordered the door and requested and install, and it was really easy coordinating with them. The door will come to you ahead of time and they'll install it whenever your scheduled appointment is. The installer came in a timely manner and was impressively clean with their work. A nice touch was the fact that they kept the box the door came in and used it to contain trash like the parts of our wall. We have had this door for close to a year now and our dog loves it. We love the fact that you can lock it for times when we aren't home, and it's held up insanely well considering how much our dog uses it. I cannot recommend it enough, money well spent! read more

My favorite Christmas present! If you're in San Diego, don't worry that these guys seem far away. They do installations in our area about twice per week. Excellent service from LJ over the phone. I had a challenging situation- a Labrador and a corgi, so LJ suggested a tall and skinny door mounted right at the floor molding. The technician came on time, was very personable and patient with my curious dogs and worked quickly and efficiently. He also suggested that I use pavers ($1.60 from Home Depot, see photo) to build steps to make it easier for my corgi. Works great! With treat training and feeding outside, both dogs had the routine down in about 3 days. Only hiccup was that I had to retrieve the wood siding from where the hole was made out of the trash. I was told that it would be saved. Glad I was paying attention! read more

This company originally didn't come up on my search because it doesn't look like it serves LA County but they do! A note to the owner, maybe there are some settings that need to be adjusted on the Yelp page?! Anyway, here is my review! We finally got around to getting our doggy door for our 13 year old pup Mathias. The reason we were hesitant was we didn't want to set up a doggy door on our front door (our dog uses the bathroom up front). But then when I came across California Pet Doors I noticed that some doggy doors could be put in the wall adjacent to a door. That was a done deal! I worked with LJ, very professional and gave us a great price. I really like that it's a double flap so it seems very sturdy and safe! Our pup took about 2 weeks to get used to the doggy door, but now it's awesome because he can go out whenever he wants. Or he'll just go out and just hang out by the steps and just bark at some squirrels. I am very happy with the work! read more

Our appointment with Chris the installer was at noon today however he showed up at 5:30pm. While cutting the wall to install the doggy door he did not use any tape or plastic to contain the dust from spreading through out my home. My entire kitchen and dining area was covered in dust from floor to ceilings, not to mention our Xmas tree, furniture and area rugs... I mean everything!!!! It took me hours to clean all the dust to insure my family and dog do not breathe in any more of the harmful drywall/ stucco dust. My skin and throat are scratchy after being exposed. Chris just seemed bothered when I asked him to use plastic or tape to prevent more dust from coming in to our home. Very disappointing and frustrating!! You need a better installation/containment process. read more

Earlier this summer my wife and I decided we would need a pet door to help keep the bugs out (usually just leave our backyard door open). Ordering was easy as they were polite on the phone and were upfront about extended lead time (still was installed in 3 weeks from first call). Install was extremely professional and the door's quality is excellent. Our dog loves it and was using it by the end of the night easily. The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars was because of 2 slight mishaps. The first was they scheduled an install one day but then realized the product wasn't ready from the manufacturer yet. Called me to apologize and wasn't a big deal for me since that was my day to work from home anyways. The second was that the manufacturer screwed up and gave us the wrong color frame on the outside. They installed it temporarily and then came back a week later to install the correct one. Very minor mishaps and excellent customer service throughout the entire experience.
