Such a fun, nostalgic tourist store! California Seashell Company had a plethora of gift options ranging from low cost to more intricate pieces that were more than $100. My big sister and I have been coming here for years. This store has been around for a while. Wonderful spot to shop for gifts and tangible souvenirs for cheap reasonable prices. Lots of magnets, home decorations, toys, necklaces, sea shells, bracelets, shot glasses, wind chimes, and so much more. The cashiers were nice and friendly willing to help you with all your needs. My daughter found a capybara squishy which she found for half the price compared to other places. She was so thrilled to find it here for a good price. I had also bought my niece a nice wave bracelet for her birthday. This store made me feel like I was on a tropical island as you walked in. All I needed was a Mai Tai in my hand. Always a fun place to stop in whenever I'm in town, place makes for great sea shell photography amongst other things. The reason for the one star less than perfect, are the people who shop there. Now, that's not their fault, but when you have kids throwing the shells, clacking the floats together, tugging on the windchimes and the employee does nothing? Mmm, kinda became their problem. But overall, avoid this place in the warmer weather months and you won't have those idiots showing you how much the employees truly care and it'll be back to the neat little shop in Seal Beach. read more

Gotta give this place 5/5 just for selling seashells--it instantly reminded me of going to Kapaʻa on Kauaʻi, picking through shell shops. Same vibe. They've got a wide variety and the prices are super reasonable. I ended up getting a blue ceramic giant clam trinket holder that I love. Definitely didn't need it, but couldn't pass it up. Also cool that they sell those little acrylic stands if you're a collector or just want to display a nice piece at home. This store has an excellent selection of seashells of almost any type, color, size, and shape you can think of. There's also ocean/beach themed merchandise, home decor, and your obligatory tourist memorabilia. There were some shells that brought me back to my childhood. Some of them were shells I used when we had hermit crabs, some were shells my parents bought for me as a kid. It was a trip down memory lane. I also saw some cool looking preserved baby sharks in a glass case. Prices were very reasonable for the quality and size of the shells for sale. I don't really have any place in my house to showcase a shell collection but if I did I'd go here to get some lovely oceanic mementos. read more

I needed 138 shell leis for a luau themed baby shower. I paid extra for expedited shipping and the box arrived mangled and held together with tape. Off the 12 sets of 12 leis (they do pack them in sets of 12 and tie them together which was great. However, 14 of them were broken (3 in one pack, 2 in another, and one each in all but one pack. I thought about adding an extra dozen to my order but the reviews were great and I thought I would be ok. I ended up simply retying the broken ones to make "kid sized leis." When I reached out to the company as just an FYI, the response was"out of the thousands of leis we have sent out, I have never heard of anything like that." The quality of the non-broken leis was great. The shipping pricey, particularly since it looked like it was dragged through a puddle and then hastily taped together. I do not recommend their expedited shipping service and as for overall quality, it was similar to what I would expect from Oriental Trading Co. read more

I love this place. This is a shop you hope to find at the Beach & Seal beach, Main Street has one. It has everything a beach lover might be looking for. They have an assortment of different/colorful sea shells, funny signs and great little knickknack gifts for any occasion. The Seashell Company is run by a great and helpful staff. I have been coming here for year and will continue to do so. If you are looking for it, it is hard to miss, the wall facing Main Street is painted BLUE and it is right next to another gem, Sweet Jill's Bakery. Very impressive selection of random seashells. The girl who was working here was very helpful and chatty as well. She'll tell you where to go to find some of these yourself along the shore. Shells range mostly from 10 cents to several dollars. They have natural finishes as well as painted ones. Variety is from all over the place if I had to guess. The prices here are actually pretty cheap (cheaper than similar stores that I have been to) and fairly priced and the perfect place to pick up a souvenir (even if you are a local, who wouldn't love a whole dried star fish or a polished sand dollar?). The store itself is not that big but there is a ton of things to look at, with plenty of different types of seashells and sea related items (like whole puffed out puffer fishes, shark teeth, etc). There is also cute little signs that have fun phrases like 'gone fishing', etc. Service is pretty friendly here and they make transactions here quick and easy.
