If your looking for a smog shop to go the extra distance to fail your vehicle then choose California smog in Auburn. I took my Chrysler in to California Smog in Auburn. The car past the test with no problem but the zealous staff noticed the Catalytic converter had been changed. The staff then took the part number on the new catalytic converter and researched it and found it was an aftermarket part and not approved for use in California and failed my vehicle and reported it to DMV. The shop who fitted the new converter only warrants there work for 12 months and it was 13 months and can't do anything to help because it is now reported to DMV. I am now looking at around $1200 to replace it with a genuine factory Converter that wont make any difference to what comes out the tail pipe. Avoid this place, they will go out of there way to find a problem. read more

I have no complaints about the actual service, but nearly turned around and left after seeing a very snarky sign on the front door saying something along the lines of "the governor says we have to post a sign about masks". Absolutely no one I saw was wearing a mask or practicing social distancing- employees or customers. I would have gone elsewhere if not for my limited time. Love, love, love this place! I must say that they offer the best customer service anywhere!! I took my newer BMW in and it didn't pass smog and they were so nice and suggested a mechanic to check it out and did not charge me. I didn't take their advice and went to another mechanic who "repaired it" but it still didn't pass, and again, Cali Smog did not charge me! Finally after the 3rd time it did but they did not bat an eye nor charge me any extra. Ask the secretary, she totally ignored me and started taking with a customer in the corner,I didn't see because he just got done having his car smog .
