I highly recommend California Sound for their quality workmanship, professional demeanor and for standing behind their work. I worked primarily with Sammy, Joe and Kevin - all of whom were great. I had a flip down overhead DVD installed here along with the installation of an in dash DVD unit. This was a fairly complicated install as I wanted two way communication between the in dash and overhead units. I also had steering wheel controls, Bluetooth and additional USB/Auxillary inputs installed. This required some modification of the wiring as the in dash unit was one removed from my previous vehicle and had different inputs than the output on the overhead unit and the addition of aux inputs to my dash. After the install I noticed some features that weren't working quite to my liking which I pointed out and they quickly remedied the same day. Two days after install I noticed the retractable in-dash cup holder below the new head unit wouldn't stay retracted in the dash - I took the car back they immediately had it in a bay, tore the whole dash apart again and had it fixed within an hour. I came in to get window tint and interior cameras installed in my truck and car. I was originally quoted $1,200 for both vehicles, and I was told the cameras were $600 each. However, when it was time to pay, the total suddenly jumped to $2,100, and the explanation I received was something about taxes, which didn't make sense based on the quote I was given. Because of that price jump, I decided to remove services and only move forward with tint on my truck and one camera instead of two. Based on the pricing that was explained to me, the total should have gone down significantly. Instead, I was still charged $1,500 for tint on one truck and one camera, which doesn't line up with the original quote or the pricing I was told. The issue here isn't the work itself it's the lack of transparency in pricing. Quotes should be clear and consistent so customers know exactly what they're agreeing to before work begins. At this point, I would really appreciate the business reviewing the invoice and providing clarification or adjusting the price to match what was originally quoted. So these guys are a joke .... Used to be a quality shop, but now just trash. Set an appointment to get my windows tinted at 10 am. I showed up at 9:45, and the tint guy wasn't even there! They had to call and wake him up and he would be there in about 45 minutes. Then they tell me to meet the guy at their other shop or whatever and give me a fake address. They tell me yes this will work no problem bring back cash in an hour we will have it done in 3 hours, come back then or we will call you when it's done. No call so I head down about an hour after the promised time. Mind you I dropped off the vehicle and gave the cash for the services. As I'm about to pull up they call and tell me not only will it not fit but they haven't even started the job I prepaid for. Unbelievable. Talk about over promising and under delivering. My experience with California Sound has truly been disappointing to say the least. I purchased a pioneer 5201 stereo receiver recommended by the owner of the company Kevin. The stereo did not navigate the MapQuest as well as other functions of the stereo did not work due to an incompatibility of my android phone. This information was never disclosed the installer damage my door panel doing the installation process, the work was truly poor and the owner refused to refund my return or repair my vehicle. I wanted to like this place. I really did. I took my Saturn in last October for a full system install, (Subs, speakers, and amps) along with a viper alarm install. Kevin and the assistant manager gracefully helped me out and began closing the deal. It was a lot of work for them and it cost me quiet a bit. I was told by Kevin the "Owner" that it would be done in one work day. It took them two, but that isn't what made me unsatisfied. The cracked dash and glove box panel was cheaply glued together as if I wouldn't noticed. After calling them and asking for them to fix it they said they would call me back to fix it. Never called me back, I pretty much had to bug them about the issue and they said to find the parts myself and put the purchase on their account. Unfortunately for me the parts they broke are discontinued. No compensation for my broken panels. To top of my distaste with this establishment, I received a monthly bill from Crest financial of $330. After being told by the assistant manager, who's name I don't remember, that my monthly payments would be around $80 a month. I wasn't told it would cost me $330 a month before I signed the contract. It was my fault I didn't carefully consider the cost to monthly payment ratio, but I didn't expect to be lied to. I called crest financial to hopefully settle this issue and there was nothing to be done on their end. California sounds did little to help me out with and the "Graceful" managers seemed very annoyed and denied the fact that I was told $80 a month. I was denied a refund and Kevin said I'd have to speak with the owner. I thought Kevin WAS the owner, but no, it's his mother?? Okay? He rudely left without closing the conversation and I was on my way. These boys pretty much swindled a young kid into a large purchase and didn't consider to help when things weren't going right. Hard lesson learned. Read the contract and don't believe a salesman's word. Least to say, the system sounds decent, but not $3000 decent. read more

Got my tint done here...not only didn't they overcharge me but my tint is now fully faded. What a waste of money. My husband paid less than what I paid and the guy came to the house to install the tint. Now I am going to have to pay for the removal of their crappy tint job PLUS new installation somewhere else. If I could give no stars , I would. After getting my car detailed ; the sound in my speakers was muffled as well as static once above a certain level, brought my car here to see if they could tell me what the problem was. After waiting 10 minutes while one of the employees (possibly the owner) finished up his phone conversation with the water company about why his bill was $500 & after he helped a group of men who came in well after me , I was told that my speakers were "blown out" and that it was cost $350 to replace . Now , I always go to at least 3 different places for different quotes when it comes to expensive things like this , especially because I paid $400 for, and to get the whole system (amp and 12" sub) installed , so $350 definitely seemed steep in price. So the next morning , I went to Audio Dreams in La Verne , and was told their was ABSOLUTELY NOTHING wrong with my speakers and that the settings on the amp , which is installed under my drivers seat , must have been accidentally adjusted during the car detail. All they did was readjust them and the sound went back to normal . CANNOT BELIEVE this place was going to take my $350 and probably not even replace the speakers at all , just adjust the settings !! I've never been more impressed or more satisfied taking my car in to be serviced no matter what type of "shop" it is. They've gone above & beyond each time I've gone there. If you value your time, avoid this place. I got up early, since they wouldn't take an appointment and they work on a first come first serve basis, and was the second one there. I sat there in 90+ degree heat while I watched them take customers that had arrived much later than I did. Half of them seemed to be there so the installers could fix problems the customers had with the original install. Several of the techs were standing around and not even helping to service customers. First bad review I've ever written. I'm the type of guy that is against leaving a bad review over something small. But man they messed up. I asked for Harmon and kardon speakers for my bmw, pulled out the box, it was dented. So, he Suggested to get another brand, sucked. My fault, I should've done my research. But don't suggest to me speakers that is horrible. Worst part is that they never screwed any of my speaker covers, two were loose and one wasn't even on. They got one on right, but quit on the other ones. Plus screws were missing. So I had to buy all new ones. Lower side dash panel wasn't put on right, so I had to buy a new one. Honestly I can write on about these guys all day. When it comes to building a car, I usually do it myself. But I thought I would try a shop for once and man these guys were horrible. Oh and when I came to pick up my car the gas petal didn't work. Took them another two days to fix it. Suggestion for California, take your time On your customers cars, if you can't do it right let them know. Embarrassing part was that I went to my cousins house to show off the speakers. Turned it up and it sucked. Speakers were rattling, lower dash panel came off while driving, because they decided to put one of the equalizers in there without mounting it. It was embarrassing. 2 stars because the pricing was good and Joe seemed somewhat knowledgeable. 3 problems 1.)Not the most professional presentation. Nobody really tried to make me feel welcome when i showed up. Crew seemed to be on lunch(understandable), but i don't see why they all had to gather in the front where customer service is handled while they ate and had "guy talk". Not to say its bad business, just a brings a less professional vibe to the environment. 2.) Joe had to order the sub i wanted(understandable) and said it would be there Tuesday and that he would call to keep me posted. After never receiving any calls i called at around 9am Wednesday and was informed the sub would not arrive till 11am that day. This contradicted what Joe told me. 3.) Joe and informed me to arrive Wednesday at open(9am) for install when we ordered the sub. When i made that phone call just after opening hours Wednesday morning Joe was not in yet and as previously noted the sub was not there so install would not take place till 2hrs later. At the end of the day, i let them keep my $50 deposit and took my business elsewhere. I figured the way things were going, i was more content with losing $50 and going elsewhere than to give them more money to disappoint me. This place is such an embarrassment. My friend and I went here for the first time on May 18 to ask questions about a stereo I wanted for my 2006 Honda Accord. We asked if I could get the exact same original stereo as my car and just swap it with the one I have and the guy said yes that he knows he has that exact same one but just has to look for it in their warehouse. He said he would call us when he finds it. A few days pass and we get no call so we end up calling them. The guy says he hasn't even started looking but will look that same day and call us. Still no call so we call them again and then they said that they have the stereo and to come in on Wednesday the 26th but we couldn't come that day because we work so we asked if we can come the next day and they said it was fine. We come in hella early at 9am and the guys there said my car will be ready by 7pm. Tf!? They said they was really busy and I was just like whatever okay. So I left my car and my keys. Come back at 7pm and they said they forgot my car is even there!!! They didn't do shit to my car all fuckin day! Bruh I was heated but the guy was saying he felt bad this and that and will give me a discount. He said to bring it in Saturday morning and that I'll be first in line and it'll be ready by 11am. I felt a little better cuz I mean tf. They left my poor car out there. So then we go on Saturday (today) fuckin early at 9am. Not like other shops who tell you one thing on the phone and charge you extra when you show up. He was very informative in explaining what would be the best for my car made sure to explain everything so I knew what I was getting. I'm really picky with who I let work on my car I usually do most of the work myself but installation was quick,smooth, and done perfectly. They didn't do a good job of educating me. I just wanted a blue tooth radio and a sub with an amp. Now the music has too much bass and I can't hear the singing. Or talk radio won't go loud enough. I've messed with the equalizer so much and turned dow the bass but let me just tell you my 2008 stock JBL car speakers sound way better and louder than this cruddy job. People, do your price research before purchasing from here. I use to come here years back when Kevin would be around and I always felt like I was getting a fair deal. I recently called for a alarm price, and was given a good price over the phone so I decided to drive down to purchase. After getting there I was given a price of $75 more. Being that I was in a hurry I went ahead a purchased the alarm system (not installed). After getting home and looking online for wiring schematics i found that the alarm the recommended and I bought was well over double priced. Called them same day and they said all sales are final.
