One of the single worst Customer Service experiences I have ever had. My friend if an elite member here. I accompanied him to use a guestpass. No exaggeration- we spent 20 minutes at the counter and 3 staff members could not figure out how to check us into services. They then told us they didn't know how to apply a guestpass and asked me to pay full for services. I no longer desired to get services done at this point due to the experience and wait, thanked them, and went to leave. As i did, one of them said she "forgot" about a free spa pass in which i could use. They offered this after my friend (the elite member) already keft very upset to his vehicle. We did not get any services done. The customer service was not only unfriendly, they had no idea how to work the system. This was a terribke experience and I will not be back. ​ read more

BEWARE I called June 1st to cancel this membership and sent the required email and then I called and spoke with customer service who confirmed my account was closed. Today they are still charging my card!!!!! I had to submit another request for my minor child because they never closed her account which legally should be linked tio the adult account as she is a minor and cannot consent to treatments here. Also she confimred they record calls and have it documented but still refused to refund my money. I had to file dispute wit hmy bank and repor them to better business bureau. I came here with some family for wellness week while they were offering free services. I thought it was pretty cool that they were offering free services for the week, I'm not sure if I'd come back after. First of all they were busy throughout the week so we had to wait for our services but there is no where to wait! Even if it's not normally busy it's ridiculous that there is one singular chair in the lobby. The fact that they have overpriced basic clothing instead of a waiting area is ridiculous and annoying especially because there is no appointments it's walk up only so you have no idea how long the wait will be. The service was difficult to navigate because while the workers I interacted with were nice, they were not helpful. We would ask questions about the services and how they would affect us and various products and they did not have answers for a several questions and were honestly just not helpful. The services are all self service and I was left to navigate a few myself since the staff could not answer my questions. The services were alright, most of them are things you would not be able to see results with unless you are routinely using them. The massage was honestly very underwhelming. The spray tan was also frustrating because I have hearing difficult and had a hard time hearing the machine instructions. Not really sure the services would be worth the price and based off the reviews cancelling memberships seems to be a headache! read more

I don't usually write reviews, but I have to share my amazing experience. I visited this store to learn about their memberships and was blown away by the outstanding customer service. Taylor, (I believe her name tag said assistant manager) was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. I had let her know beforehand that I wasn't able to sign up today, and while most people may check out at this point, she didn't. She patiently walked me through all the options, gave a detailed tour, highlighted products and gave recommendations that fit what I was looking to do. Absolutely HORRIBLE! They are scam artists. Fee To join, fee monthly for processing, and monthly fees. They have a promotion going on right now 1 week trial with ZERO exclusions on the advertisement(picture included for proof) but made me pay $40 for 1 session. Hailee(I think the supervisor) spent 12 minutes explaining the fees, packages, and cancellation(which btw you have to do by or on the 20th of the month & once you cancel your membership is effective immediately). I am reporting them to the BBB for false advertising. I would go visit somewhere sunny in the end it's probably cheaper. read more

Let me start by saying the staff and the facility gets a 5 but there is someone in leadership / corporate that is in every so often and the "vibe" is just not there. All the girls that work there are full of energy- especially Maddie and Emma, always smiling, and just a joy to be around after a long day of work and the kids. But every time I get services there and this woman is at the front they are just all off as if they can't be themselves and that is just not right. The energy is all around terrible, I almost walked out earlier this week when she was there. She is a tall, slender caucasian woman with long blonde (wig?) hair. As I said, I LOVE this location and the girls that work there. But if this is the impact that leadership has to their employees and clients can see- it's not a good look. Do better. read more

California Sun made good efforts to contact me after I gave them direct feedback on my request to quit. And after speaking with Samantha from corporate, I am adjusting my rating. Compromises were offered that were reasonable (using my current payment for application towards the time I return, if my dermatologist supports it). She understood my plight with my doctor and made an accommodation which I appreciate. I wish it could have been resolved earlier to my feedback for sure. That being said, for the most part the people who work at the spa are friendly and the services they provide are good. read more

I've been a sunless spray tan member at this small location for the past 4 years, they only have one spray tan machine so I'm very thrilled when it's open and available since it's the only service I use. However, today I went to get a spray tan and I was happy it was open and avail-I asked as soon as I walked in,since I was short on time. The receptionist said I needed to sign an annual waiver(which I'd done before-no big deal) but as I was signing it another customer came in after me and the girl checked her right into the spray tan and basically let her cut in line while I was signing the waiver-it took 2 minutes for me to sign, I'm not sure why they let someone after me go in front of me? I wasn't a new member signing up. They don't allow appointments or anything, so first come, first serve. I even asked the receptionist why she let her go ahead of me? Her answer was " oh sorry I have to check her in. ....not sure why when I was currently checking in?? If this is a trained workflow-I recommend it be changed, no customer wants to be skipped over in line. I think I'll start driving the 5 extra minutes to go to another location that has more than one spray tan machine, this experience makes me not want to go back there which is super annoying since I live a block away from that location. I don't think they care about my business anyways. 3 stars because I like the tanning machine and the location is clean.Happy Tanning! read more

As someone who used to work at this facility and understand the standards the employees are held to, I have been extremely disappointed with the current staff at this location. Girls have been rude about services and don't have the proper knowledge on how to to communicate services and errors properly to customers. After requesting service an employee claimed she "couldn't" put me in my bed for the requested time as I haven't been in frequently enough. As someone that's been an employee and a customer, I know that it is untrue and they may only make recommendations for my treatment, not deny the service in a rude way and continue to argue with me. All the staff can improve on their friendly demeanor and how they communicate with clients. Both my mom and I, are extremely dissatisfied with this locations decline. They have done a lot to improve this locations looks and vibe, but the current employees are not meeting the standard! read more

I am a spray tan member of California Sun. I called the store in advance to make sure that it would be alright if I came in for a spray tan 15 minutes before closing. I told the girl that I would come back the following day if it meant anyone working would get out late. She replied to me that I am able to come in for a spray tan up until 8 pm (which is the closing time). I made it to the store at exactly 745pm. Aidan was obviously upset (probably for coming in at the tail end of the shift) and I did not feel welcome. I did not receive a greeting at the door, and instead he only asked "what do you want". I asked him if I was too late for a tan and he shortly replied just "no". After several short answers and seemingly glares by Aidan, I proceeded with my tan and was out of the building by 757 pm. Besides tonight, I wish I could come in here and not be hounded with their upselling of higher level membership plans, skin care products, "loading up a card for future purchases", and lotions. While the employees (for the most part) are nice, I just wish I could simply come in for my spray tan and walk out. That's what interested me in the service-the quick in and out simplicity of it all! I used to go to California Sun 5 years ago and I have to give it up. But recently I decided to get back into going and I met Priscilla there and she is so sweet and amazing. She helped me with all my tanning lotion choices and she had another employee there named Ava who is so helpful and knowledgeable as well. They really go above and beyond for their customers. I bought everything they recommended and I am more tan. Before when I had my membership, I tanned for 2 years and never got any good color oh my skin and I truly feel it's because I was using bad products off ebay as no one explained it to me. And with these ladies, I am super golden now. Good job California Sun for having these amazing employees there!!! read more

I went into California Sun this morning with normal expectations of the typical customer service I usually get in there. I was greeted by Tony at the front desk. When I told him I usually only come in once a month and do the bronzing bed not only did he explain the best way to maximize my tan, he actually personalized a tanning routine for me. In 15 plus years I've never had an associate take the time to do this. He then went on to explain the importance of accentuators and tanning lotions. Very knowledgeable. So I came to this location a few weeks ago because I was running errands in the area and I have the ambassador membership and I could go to any California Sun in the area which is very nice and I have taken advantage of that going to several different locations everybody is really great and awesome well I not on this day at this location and the manager on duty recognize me and wasn't as friendly work me whatever maybe a bad day I don't know and so I was asking about intensifier because I had left mine at home and I wanted to do some tanning after my red light and the manager I don't know what she thought was funny mentioned well you return the last one that I sold to you so if you buy this one you're probably just gonna going to end up returning it and I looked at her dead in the eyes and I told her I'm pretty sure if you had an allergic reaction to a lotion you wouldn't use it and she just laughed like it was funny really thought it was unprofessional for a manager to find something like that funny how is that funny when I had an allergic reaction to a product and that is the reason I returned it pretty sure if she had allergic reaction to any kind of product that they carry she wouldn't be laughing either and wouldn't give the person that sold to her a hard time she should look at it through my eyes the product she sold me I thought it wasn't OK with it unfortunately I had allergic reaction to it and returned it to another California sun which you're allowed to do as long as you have a receipt within 10 days so I was informed about this by another California sun member this made me very uncomfortable that the manager was like mocking me and laughing about the situation it's like that's very unprofessional to laugh at a paying customer about something and then assume that I'm going to return it because I had returned a product that she had recommended unfortunately my skin did not like it so that is a reason for the return it was not a personal jab at the employee but the laughing and being sarcastic was very uncomfortable and I really think this employee should be addressed about how to be more professional with customers because of that experience it may not wanna come back to this location so I really hope whoever is in charge higher up will address the manager on duty who was not there this last time when I went because I came back and I told the other associate who was second in charge what it happened and she felt very bad about it but still I would like to see some kind of good outcome come out of this like talking to the employee about how to be professional and not mock a customer because that's exactly how I felt not sure if I will come back to this location if that employee is going to be there again this is because of how the employee made me feel so I really hope this is addressed and this employee could learn how to be more professional given the fact that she is management and not be unprofessional and make the customer feel uncomfortable like the way she made me feel read more

I did not have a very good experience when I came here. This was my first and my last time i will be visiting these locations. 1). My spray tan came out horrible!!! Looked like I had freckles all over and even on my face. The receptionist said it was normal and it would eventually even out but she was wrong! Half my body was tanner than the other side and it looked like I had freckles all over. I have experience with tanning salons so I know what to expect. 2). When I told them about the issue, all they wanted to do was spray me down again which would make me darker than I wanted. They refused to give me a refund and instead give me store credit even when I told them I won't be coming to their tanning salons again and I'm from the Bay Area and they don't have this tanning salon anywhere so they basically wanted me to travel 2 hours to get a tan from them. read more

I normally don't write reviews but I just love my time everytime I come in! The salon is always so nice and clean! Abbie the brunette is especially sweet, I see her almost everytime I come in and she is always so happy with a smile on her face and so eager to help! She is great with people, an absolute delight! My favorite thing in this salon would be red light therapy, it's for your collagen and elastin in your skin! I would highly recommend this salon to anyone who wants to get a tan and get treated like a princess! read more

All the employees at this salon make the difference in my opinion! I've had memberships at 5 different salons over time, and this company (and this location) take the cake!!! The salon is always spotless, the ambiance is classy, the girls (and guy!!) are genuinely friendly, and the service is superb. Don't be afraid to ask this staff questions if you're confused or curious about any aspect of bed tanning or spray tanning. Cal Sun makes sure their staff truly has the knowledge needed to recommend, explain, and match the products and services they sell to your needs! I have been a customer for years an love this place. Originally I was at the Citrus Heights location an recently moved to rocklin. What an upgrade! The staff is of course always lovely. I guess I came on a good day an met a women named Amy. I don't know if she's the manager or higher up but she was so helpful an suggested to try the water massage bed and then put me in bed 24 I think it was. One session and I was noticeably darker and fully relaxed after her suggestion. Will definitely be referring my clients an friends! read more

Best Tanning salon! The corporate office location is bu far the best. They have all the beds where some of the salon locations don't have a good selection. It is more like a show room so they have everything. They take care of the beds very well. I've been an Ambassadors club at CaliSun for 2 years and it is so worth it for access to everything they offer. $80 a month for all bed levels, and spa items! All the girls are amazing and knowledgeable. Plus the discount you get on clothing and Lotions with ambassadors is helpful! read more

Customer Service is ZERO stars, the spa itself was ok. Well, I thought I was going to love this place but the customer service experience completely ruined the relaxing spa atmosphere and it was actually more of a hostile stressful environment. There were a few times as a new customer I ran into an issue or question and customer service was one of the worst I have ever experienced, talking down and rudely and refusing to deliver services. Once time there was a small amount due on my account for some reason I did not understand. Rather than help me sort it out they turned me away and told me I was not allowed to do services that day. I later found out that it only took 2 minutes to correct the issue on my account but the guy on the phone was so rude and unwilling to take care of his customers that I called and canceled my membership. Someone else was able to help me correct the issue nicely and I went ahead and gave them another chance but nope, the next time I had a question the same guy kept answering the customer service line and again was so rude and anti-customer service that I ended up cancelling and so did my friend who was going there with me. She was so offended by the way they were speaking to me on the phone that she also canceled her membership and now both of us will not go back. It did not work out and I am not unhappy that they took my money for 1 month of service and I only got a partial month. They acted like I should feel lucky to be able to cancel and not get charged for another month of service I would not be using. AS for the Spa itself it was ok, I liked convenience of being able to just walk in almost anytime. The massage table was still dirty like people had there shoes on it, and the floor of the stand up machines were dirty enough that you need to wear flip flops. I would say the massage table and zero gravity chair were so, so - not the best I have used, definitely lower quality. However, if the customer service was good and they were able to have a nice friendly vibe I would have kept paying for the so-so services and wore flip-flops, because it was easy and convenient. But after trying it out, dealing with customer service and having them be super stressful it turned into a hard no! read more

The issue was that after I was done spray tanning and cockroach came out from under the spray tan machine. A COCKAROACH. Absolutely unacceptable. I recently purchased a 2 for $39 sunless deal. When using my first session, I was happy to see that it was VersaSpa since I'm very familiar with this sunless booth having worked at a tanning salon for years with this specific machine. However, the solution didn't even spray my legs or arms. I was left with a tan midsection and no color anywhere else. There were splotches everywhere that wouldn't blend in. Overall, it was a terrible experience and the girl at the counter tried to convince me it would develop and look better. I ended up having to use self tanner of my own to fix it. I tried to go in today for my second session in hopes it would turn out better this time. When I went in, I was told my session had expired which no one informed me about when buying the package. I was aware sessions don't expire, or at least not for years. I'm very disappointed in their VersaSpa machine and how the employees handled the situation. Save your money! read more

I started my membership in Auburn where the girls who work there are sweet and professional. They are also very informative. I am new to the whole experience and after 2 services, I went to the Rocklin location because that's where I live. I work in Auburn and I was referred to California Sun by a coworker. My experience between the two locations was night and day. The "Corporate" office is in Rocklin. The two gals there who assisted me, were extremely unprofessional, stuck up, and gossiped behind the first wall. I walked in thinking I could just have my 5 year old sit in the room w me whilst my 1 minute spray tan. The girls there were nice to my face and said it was no problem, that my son could wait at the front desk area or near my tanning room. I gave my son the option and he chose up front. I gave him my iPhone and he watched videos. Before this, I specifically asked the girls if it was ok to have my son. They were very light hearted about it and assured me it was fine. I even offered to come another time without him. When I left, I had to go out of my way to thank them for my visit. It should have been the other way around. Whatever.. life goes on. Well, today on my lunch, I attended services at the Auburn location and there was a rude note on my account to not let my son come during my visits because kids shouldn't be allowed to run around while I tan and for me to get a babysitter for future visits. Those weren't the words verbatim. The gal who helped me was more appalled than I was as I was having a very stressful day at work and was just happy to treat myself. Sure, the gal could have not let me know. She's young and sweet. And had been a much better employee than the other two $&")/:(? at the Rocklin STUCK UP location. I have been in customer service for 30 years. I know what I'm talking about when it comes to customer services. With my current job, we write alerts about patients. But we NEVER write anything derogatory. Our wording is very careful. As I said, I specifically told those rats at the Rocklin location, that I would come back another day, alone. I expect the owners to address this. If they want positive reviews and are proud of their company and care about their employees enough to where their employees respect the company they work for, then they will do something about this. When I was in Auburn, I was told by an anonymous person, non employee, that the "Corporate" location gets a bad rap. Shouldn't the Corporate location get the best rap? Furthermore, if you don't want kids in your company, have a sign. Or tell your employees that's it's unacceptable..Orrrrrrr... if you feel like being kid friendly, have a small, simple, kiddo area for those 3 minutes. Shame on those girls. read more

I love this tanning Salon. I would recommend it above all others. The equipment is top notch, the email response is super quick and it is just an all around good experience.....Lets face it most of us have tried other tanning salons over the years, and it left me at least with a bad taste in my mouth, less then pleasant service, bulbs out, the wait for the equipment wanted. I'm just so happy this time around I came across California Sun. All the locations make and the quality make it a no brainer for me. Plus once I joined they gave me some really cool access for the first month to all the equipment even spray tan. I now know what it is like to use a level 5 bed, no burn just a super quick tan.
