I recently got married and my wedding ring reunited with my engagement ring. It hasn't been together since we picked up my ring from Calla's last April. I realized that I hadn't left a review for Calla and how awesome it was to work with her to get my rings design and made. So here goes. My fiance had proposed without a ring because he wanted me to pick out my own. He says that I am very particular about my stuff and he's right. I couldn't find anything that I truly loved but stumbled onto Calla's site when I was doing research on different gemstones since I didn't want a diamond one. And boy am I glad that I did because I found that she also does custom designs. Since she is in Santa Barbara and I am in Vegas, we had a phone call to discuss what I wanted, starting the whole process. We started with finding the right gem. I wanted a pink sapphire and she was able to find one very quickly. Then came the design phase. After a couple of emails with photos showing what I liked and her suggestions. After our back and forth, she sent me the CAD of my future rings. She was very patient with me as I freaked out over the ugly looking CAD (computer design of the rings) and asked a ton of questions. She explained to me how the ring will look different in person and CAD by their nature makes everything look ugly, answering each of my questions. And then I had my rings! I was surprised at how quickly it all came together. The whole process took less than a month even though she had said it would be about one and a half month to two months. I love my rings. It brings me such joy every time I look at them. There was so many little details that Calla put into the ring that I hadn't noticed when I first picked it up. Calla is truly amazing at what she does. I needed someone to help me incorporate my grandmother's engagement and wedding rings into new rings for my wedding. It was an emotional process for me and Calla was full of ideas and support the entire way through. In the end, she crafted two new rings using stones from my grandmother's rings and some other family rings, and she kept my grandmother's original rings intact by substituting the stones with cubic zirconia. I was so torn about getting rid of my grandmother's rings, and when she came up with this idea, it was such a relief! I phoned Calla and explained what kind of repairs needed to be made. She spent time talking to me and explaining, step-by-step, how she would go about repairing the ring. I decided to ship my ring to her. The quality of repairs made to my ring are simply AMAZING! I can't even see where the repairs were made and the ring looks brand new! Calla is a miracle worker. I had a very unique situation where I had a beautiful setting on my engagement ring, but it stuck up too high from the band. It also was a little too big. I went to TWO different jewelers who both told me 1) They could not position the setting any lower, 2) They could not make the band any smaller. In one final try to get my engagement ring to look how both myself and my husband intended, I contacted Calla. She was able to accomplish BOTH tasks, and did a beautiful, fantastic job. My antique wedding ring that I've been wearing since 2011 has been in dire need of repair for years, and I had been hesitant to take this piece in to a jeweler. It's an expensive antique and it's been in our family for a long time. Nearly all the prongs needed replacing and the old, intricate design made it a more difficult piece to repair. While it was still a beautiful ring, you could tell it was over 100 years old. The mine-cut gems on the sides were nearly falling out, the gold was worn and lackluster, the crevices of the design were noticeably blackened from age, and it just didn't look like a wedding ring anymore. The only solution I could think of was to buy a new wedding ring as a stand-in and keep my beautiful antique ring locked away safely in a drawer for preservation. When I heard Calla speak at an event, I felt she was the answer to my 3 year-long problem! Her specialty is wedding ring repair, and I just knew she would do a perfect job. I thought I set the bar high for jewelry repair, but Calla raised it to the roof! Not only did she perfectly repair every prong on my ring, but I have a feeling she did a lot of extra touch-ups that she didn't tell me about ;) The old dents and knicks are now gone, the gold looks new and lustrous, the diamonds are brighter, and the symmetrical prongs completely renew the look of my ring. Calla did such a fantastic job on my engagement ring, I actually joined Yelp to write a review! I found her through a blog/article she had written on restoring an older ring and things to watch out for (so helpful). Calla was so brilliant and user-friendly from beginning to end. We were living in France at the time but we didn't want to get his grandmothers ring re-sized and strengthened/restored there as we had literally no idea what it entailed. Calla was so helpful across of the international email exchanges! And when we came to LA for work we shot straight up to see her. Not only did she make time for us (twice!) on a Saturday morning at her home but she was a pleasure to deal with all throughout the process. Calla was also incredibly informative - she took the time to explain what to look for in diamonds and the issues surrounding old rings. The ring was 1940s and needed a bit of work to make it last and continue to hand down through the generations. It was also an unusual mix of gold and silver and the diamonds needed a good clean. Ultimately we replaced the gold ring section with white gold and the very small diamonds with ones that better matched the central diamond. The ring was re-sized and the prongs/setting all strengthened. She was competitively priced and incredibly speedy. We also discussed our wedding rings in great detail and again, Calla was very patient and took us through lots of options and suggestions and took the time to explain our options. Calla is the real deal! I recently used Calla Gold Jewelry to tackle a laundry list of breakages with my jewelry collection. I'd moved to town and didn't have a jeweler. Calla came recommended for her designing of jewelry and fixing of jewelry, and I couldn't imagine how She rebuilt the tongue on a clasp I had. A year ago someone said the whole clasp had to be replaced for about $150.00. Calla's rebuild was $65.00 and I'm happily wearing that bracelet again. She also converted some "too dressy" multi-gem earrings into simpler earrings. I ended up with three pairs of earrings I wear from one pair I didn't. All three of them are beautiful!
