We decided to do a "Bloody Mary Bar Crawl" last weekend, and this was our first and last stop of the day. Justice was bartending in the morning, and Alex was tending the bar at night. As usual, the service was very good. We started with two Clamato Bloody Mary's ($6.50/ea.) and an appetizer Sampler Platter ($17) with potato skins, chicken wings, and fries instead of onion rings. In the evening, we got two Tito's Clamato Bloody Mary's ($8.50/ea.). All drinks were well made, reasonably priced, and a little lighter than those made with a 100% tomato juice mix. Callahans has a pool table, plenty of TVs, occasional live music, and great staff and fun, friendly crowd. It isn't a fancy place, but food and drinks are good, and the atmosphere is usually lively. This dive bar is located away from houses since it's in an industrial zone which makes it easy to find street parking. There were some heavy metal bands playing so we came to show them some support. I get it its a dive bar, but even dive bars should have standards. The first time I came in I was greeted and hosted by the barback who said was bartending for the first time. He was very attentive, polite, friendly and professional. Granted I was one of 3 customers that night. So, when I found out my friends band was performing there I ruhsed over and again, was greeted by the barback who remembered me and politely let me know he was not bartending and only barbacking. There was a young lady bartending who never made eye contact with me even though she was right in front of me and kept passing me by. I also work at a bar, so I get it, WHEN YOU ARE SWAMPED, but she was not that busy. Lucky for me, the bar back noticed I was waiting a while and served me up a beer. I settled accounts with the bartender. My 2nd attempt to get another drink from the bartender resulted in another waiting game before I was finally served. My 3rd and 4th attempts failed and I ended up walking away empty handed without a drink both times, because the bartender was too busy dancing with behind the bar and chating it up with friends and neglecting several patrons who also walked away empty handed. This bar definitely lost an opportunity to make money that night. The place looks like a fun dive bar. That is al it is, but the service was NOT pleasant. The bartender definitely cost the bar good money in sales. I would have purchased a few more rounds for my friends I if the barteder wasnt so negligent. As for the food, had the bartender not ignored me, I would have ordered something to eat, but in all honesty, her unfriendly vibe felt forced and made me loose my appetite. I wasnt going to post this, but this was a conversation amongst a couple other customers who shared the same sentiment. We ended up going to another bar for food and a cold one. Dive bar or not, NO ONE LIKES BEING IGNORED, specially when the bartender keeps walking by you without making any eye contact. She was finally friendly when she gave me my bill. Over the years, this place has been on a downward spiral. Went in on a Friday night and was surprised to see only 6 customers in the place. I know it's changed owners over the years but I'd say the current owners don't really care. Used to be jumping at lunch during the week but not even sure they serve food now. Kitchen was empty. The bartender must be new to the business as she didn't even know how to pour a draft beer..kept pouring out the foam until there was no head at all. Zero professionalism in the joint. I wouldn't even suggest using the bathrooms. Back in the day, this was an oasis to get a nice prime rib dinner and drinks, with live entertainment... that atmosphere is long gone. read more

Dropped by this place on friday after work with a few co-workers, it was our first time going here & definitely being the last time we do. The service in the beginning was ok, we were approached, at our table. But the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, round no one ever came back, so I had to tell my husband to grab us drinks at the bar because the 2 females working there that night, were not really delivering good customer service at all. Later on that night my coworkers mentioned to me, that my co worker ordered a pitcher, when he brought it to the table there was some shit floating on top of the beer. It was disgusting but when my coworker tried to address the issue, to get a replacement pitcher both of the females were giving him a hard time and telling him it was foam. It was NOT FOAM! it was RANCH inside the pitcher. How gross, and unsanitary can you be? And still serve a pitcher that has been cross contaminated to a customer, you can be shut down for doing some disgusting shit like that. They really gave him a hard time and insisted on not wanting to hand him a brand new pitcher, until 2 of my coworkers went up to the bar and addressed the issue, and said they would leave & wanting there money back. It should not have to go that far to get a simple problem resolved. Weve been to other dive bars and no way, they act this unprofessional. They have daily specials aren't really listed but it was $5 ceviche, $7 chicken club sandwich with tots, $5 for two fish tacos, $5 shots and $10 domestic pitchers. This was my first time ever coming to this bar. It was a quiet night but our bartender Danny was great. He made us a custom drink based off what we indicated we liked. You know you're at a hole in the wall bar when you hear a Harley revving in the parking lot. And that's what this bar is. Came here on a Saturday to watch the Raiders playoff game and it was somewhat packed. Parking is on the street which is a dead end (it's a bit strange but you can just park at the dead end like they're parking spots). Food was decent. I was excited to hear about their steak and lobster deal for $20. Unfortunately we were told it was discontinued, so I settled for the grilled chicken sandwich. Sandwich was good, as the chicken was juicy and tender. Typical bar food. The drink prices are competitive so it's a decent place to grab a beer. Service was kind of slow. There were only two waitresses covering the bar and the tables, so it was severely understaffed (one of the girls was a trainee too, so can't really blame them for the slow service). I was really bummed that the steak and lobster deal wasn't available, but the kitchen still did a decent job with the chicken sandwich. We came here on St Patrick's day, it was super crowded and busy! We had a great time, good music and I enjoyed the crowd. Hole in the wall ISH , if that makes sense? Didn't try the food but I heard that it is good. Cons: One bathroom stall in the ladies room! come on!!!! A bar with one bathroom stall= long line and pissing outside. The Bartender yelled at me. Love this place: Atmosphere: it's a big place for being a pub, I've been to actual pubs and this place is great in size. Lots of seating available, and near a TV. Bathroom only has one stall for the ladies. Service: friendly and professional. I'd like to think you can make friends with the staff without losing service quality, they make you feel that comfortable. Food: so... Good! I've been here on taco Tuesday's and I have to say their al pastor tacos are addicting, making me a fatty! My mouth is watering just thinking about their onion rings: probably the best in town. Prices: the best! Most of what you pay for is almost double at other restaurants in the area... They could hike up the prices because there really isn't an in-dining place within miles, but they don't. Selection: fine, you don't lost out on choice, and they Always have specials on alcohol. Entertainment: I personally am not a fan of live entertainment when I go to a bar, but it's popular demand for the area. I love this place too much to miss out. They've had sponsored models come out to the bar on special occasions and give out free stuff, so a bonus when you show up. Overall this place takes the cake for pubs. We went here for lunch today and the service was a bit on the slow side since the bartender was not around and we were a bit confused, if they were open or not?! We only had an hour to spare and we were a little worried that we may be late going back to work. My coworkers and I have eaten lunch here before or had a couple of drinks after work and we never had any problems. They might just had an off day today?! Also, we thought that their All You Can Eat Taco Tuesday was for the whole day, but apparently, it was going to start in the late afternoon. We totally understood. Joe the bartender does a great job at making you feel welcomed and even when he isn't there, you can go anytime, mid day for lunch even, to find a chill vibe and great food that is pretty affordable. Happy hour doesn't start until late in the afternoon, so don't expect to get a price break if going in earlier. There's a bus stop across the street for those getting off work and having to wait for their commute, and parking on the side that is limited but seems to meet demand. I've been there when they've had a band and just music playing on the juke box, and both worked and during the day sports are on the tv that makes great conversation starters. All in all.. a pretty cool place to have a cold beer in middle of a dusty industrial town. read more

I guess it is true you cannot go home! New owners, dining room is gone - just plain tables scattered around the bar! Loud music and we couldn't hear until the waitress/bar tender turned it off so we could order. The on-line menu offered steak & lobster tail for $19.99 but she said they haven't done that for over a year and would tell the owner it was on-line still. We left & went to another restaurant. I guess it has been around 15 or so years since we went to Callahans. We used to go often with friends that knew the owners, a man & wife that were LA police officers. We also took our family there - they had a nice dining area as well as tables in the bar area by the fire place. They even had table cloths and long family group tables. They also sometimes had a one man band that was enjoyable without blowing out your eardrums or interfering with conversation. One of my granddaughters was a toddler & I scooped her up and danced to the music with her. She loved it. Change is sadly inevitable I guess I am sure the younger generation enjoy the noise and lack of ambiance but it is not for us older folks that have trouble hearing from all the noise pollution we subjected ourselves to over the years :-) read more
